Lords rarely become actors, but actors are lords, perhaps not more often. And even more so, no one predicted such a stellar fate for a boy born in one of the most impoverished quarters of London. However, the “born from the bottom” Alik Guinness (Alec Guinness) the Queen of England handed over the Order of the British Empire, and a few years later he was awarded the knighthood.
The future Sir Alec Guinness began his acting career in the John Gilgood Theatre, where he played in Shakespearean plays first in extras, then in secondary roles. At the same time he attended the acting school. And once the director entrusted him with the role of Hamlet. And no mistake.
Alec Guinness’ artistic career was interrupted by World War II. He joined the Navy as a private sailor and returned in 1946 as a captain. And in the same year he made his film debut.
Five years later, the audience “falled” on the theatrical performances in which Alec Guinness played, and moviegoers appreciated his work in the film “OliverTwist” directed by David Lean. And then triumphantly passed through the screens of the black comedy “Good Hearts and Crowns”, where Alec Guinness performed 8 roles at once, including female. The creative collaboration between Guinness and Lin continued for many years. The director shot mainly historical films and classics. On the screens came films with the participation of Alec Guinness
Bridge over the River Kwai , (for this film, Guinness won an Oscar), Lawrence of Arabia,
"Doctor Zhivago" .
In the early 80s, all of America regularly sat down in front of television screens to watch the next episode of Star Wars. Alec Guinness played Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi in this film. The film was a huge success, but the actor did not like him very much and agreed to work in it only out of respect for the director - George Lucas.
The last movie with Alec Guinness is a documentary
"Tinseltown bombs and blockbusters" . /
