Oliver spent most of his childhood in Asia and the Middle East. Oliver has gone through more than a dozen different schools. At the age of nine, Oliver visited the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., where he watched a play that inspired him to study as an actor. While studying at Tufts University, which Platt graduated in 1983 with a bachelor's degree, he studies acting. After receiving a degree in drama, Oliver Platt began to work actively at the Boston Theater and takes part in off-Broadway productions of The Storm, The Moon Over Miami and Twelfth Night.
