Bill Bailey was born in 1964 in Bath, Somerset. His father was a doctor and his mother a nurse. He spent most of his childhood in western England.

He spent his teenage years in Famous Five, under the sign of Monty Python music.
In addition to music, Bailey was fond of humorous miniatures, so in his youth he tried to work in the stand-up genre. After some time, Bill already toured the country with concerts with such an artist as Mark Lamarr.
In 1984, Billy performed with Toby Longworth. The duo was called Rubber Bishops. The couple became incredibly popular in clubs, young comedians worked in a very busy schedule.
