Sammy Davis Jr. was born on December 8, 1925 in New York (USA) in a family of dancers who worked in variety. At the age of four, he began to perform in the family group of his uncle Will Mastin. During the Great Depression, the number of actors decreased to a trio, where Sammy Davis, his father and uncle remained. After two years in the army, Sammy Davis began performing again, and his affairs went uphill - prestigious nightclubs and large variety shows. A car accident in 1954 put his career in jeopardy, but a few months later he returned to the stage and in 1956 made his Broadway debut and in a serious role in the film The Benny Goodman Story. Distinguished by great creative energy, Sammy Davis starred in many films and achieved popularity, despite all sorts of attacks from both white and black, for example, for his marriage (the second marriage of three) to the Swedish actress Mae Britt, and during his long life the actor managed to change religion and become a Jew, move from the camp of Democrats to Republicans, and his autobiography he called “Yes, I can”. In May 1990, Sammy Davis died of cancer.
