American actor Matthew Settle was born in Hickory, North Carolina on September 17, 1969. Matthew is the youngest child in the family of a Baptist preacher and church organist. When Matthew was nineteen, he moved to New York City and decided to try his hand at music. He joined a rock band where, due to lack of talent, he did not stay long. After leaving the team, Matthew decided to make an acting career. Dreaming of fame, he sold seafood and meat on the streets of Long Island. One day, the guy drew the attention of Jay Julian, Robert De Niro’s lawyer, and brought him to the school of dramatic art. The money for training Matthew borrowed from friends, and after graduating, went to Los Angeles.
Settle began his career on the small screen. In 1996, he made his debut in the pilot series Shaughnesy, where he played the role of an Irish-American settler. Then in the television movie What Happened to Bobby Earl? he appeared as a guy, a member of the student fraternity, and then starred in a small role in the television crime thriller Murder in the Mind. In 1997, Matthew played the role of Green Lantern in the pilot series Justice League of America, and the following year he starred in the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Then there was the role of Bugsy Siegel in his youth in the biopic "Lansky" and the role of a rapist in the dramatic project "Crime in Connecticut: The Alex Kelly Story."
