Molly’s acting career began at the age of five with the play “Alice in Wonderland”, and at the age of six she with the Fulton Street Jazz Band, where her father played, recorded in the style of Dixieland album “I Wanna Be Loved by You”. Then the girl began to appear in advertising on TV screens. In 1979, she starred in episodes of the television series Facts of Life, after which she took part in the TV show Facts of Life. Molly played her first role in John Hughes’ 16 Candles (1984), which earned her the award for Best Actress.
Subsequently, Molly had to work on the same set with such popular actors as Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez and others. She starred in several films by John Hughes, but refused the title role in his next film “Miracles of a Kind”.
