After general education school, young François Berlian studied at the acting courses of Tana Balashova, after which he made his debut in the film Martin and Leo (1979) directed by Alain Cavalier. Meeting with the director Pierre Jolivet was of great importance for the actor. François Berlian starred in his films “Strictly personal matter” (1985), “Fred” (1997), “In the heart” (1998), “Brother of a warrior” (2002), “Oh, these daughters” (2003), “What if this is love?” (2007) and many others.
Most of François Berlian’s films are supporting roles, but thanks to his excellent acting work, they became vivid and memorable. For his role in Pierre Jolivat’s film My Little Business (1999), François Berlean was awarded the César Award for Best Supporting Actor. This was a recognition of his acting skills as an actor of secondary roles of the best French film directors.
