Murphy was born on September 13, 1933 in New Jersey. He worked as a reporter and editor. He fought in the Korean War, and then decided to start writing. He made a name for himself writing books about Destroyer until he moved to cinema. In this area, he worked on scripts for such films as “Sanction at Eiger Peak”, “Lethal Weapon 2”. In addition, he also taught, lectured at many colleges and universities.
