Bachchan first appeared on the big screen only thanks to the recommendation of Indira Gandhi, whose son he was friends with. His first film “Seven Indians”, released in 1969, was not a great success, but the actor received a national film award for his first role in the nomination “Best New Actor”. For his next film “Love Never Dies”, in which Amitabh played a cameo role, the actor was awarded the Filmfare magazine award in the nomination “Best Supporting Actress”.

Amitabh Bachchan is married to actress Jaya Bhaduri and has two children.
