His first feature-length film, Ned's Surprise, was shot in 1999. The comedy, telling how a huge win can turn everything around and make a stir in a peaceful life, did not leave anyone indifferent. The film won the BAFTA Award for Best Directorial Debut, the New York Comedy Film Festival Award,
Prize of the German Art House Film Guild for Best Foreign Film.
In 2004, Jones created his second feature film My Terrible Nanny, which was among the top ten highest-grossing films in the UK. It raised nearly $135 million. Starring Emma Thompson and Colin Firth.
In 2008, the film All the Way was released, where such world movie stars as Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell played the main roles. This film was an adaptation of the old film “Everything is OK” directed by Giuseppe Tornatore.
In 2012, Jones directed a comedy called
"What to expect when you're expecting a baby" based on the novel of the same name, starring Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks and Cameron Diaz.
