Bela Lugosi is an American film actor of Hungarian origin. Lugosi’s career in cinema began with his acquaintance with director and producer Alfred Dishi. He entered into a two-year agreement with his Star Movies company, pledging to take part in nine Disha films.
In 1921, Bela decided to move to New York. However, by this point he managed to achieve significant success in the main role of the stage production of Dracula, composed by John Balderston based on the work of the same name by Bram Stoker.

In 1921, Bela decided to move to New York. However, by this point he managed to achieve significant success in the main role of the stage production of Dracula, composed by John Balderston based on the work of the same name by Bram Stoker. The significant commercial success of the play attracted the attention of the cinema company Uiversal Pictures, which in 1930 collected a package of copyrights necessary for the film adaptation.

After Dracula, Bela Lugosi began to constantly star in genre films - often he had to play the roles of villains, which he performed conscientiously, but monotonously. These were Dr. Miracle in the film Murder on the Rue Morgue in 1932, Legendre in the film.
