Johnson’s acting career began in 1982, when he appeared in the Canadian thriller Kill Them Gentle. Then the actor starred in small roles on television and in movies, and from the mid-1980s he already gets more significant roles, among the films with his participation - "The Adventures of the Nanny" (1987), "Wild Thing" (1987), "Crazy Night" (1987), "Flowers" (1988), "Renegades" (1989), "The Last Round" (1993), "Downing Zone" (1994). However, the actor gained the greatest success thanks to his work on television: in 1993, he played Detective Meldrick Lewis, the main character of the police television series Homicide: Life on the Street. This role was highly appreciated by both spectators and critics, and was awarded a professional award. At the same time, Clark Johnson first stood on the other side of the camera - he directed the series of the second season of this series, then took part in the production of various episodes of other popular television series, such as "NYPD Blues" and "New York-911".
