Bette Davis is one of the few actresses who was not subject to the "serfdom" of the film companies where they were filmed. Her full name is Ruth Elizabeth Davis and she was born in April 1908 in Massachusetts to a lawyer. Since childhood, Bette dreamed of becoming an actress, and her first success was waiting for her on Broadway. In 1932, she performed her first film role in the film “The Man Who Played God”, and the next two years Hollywood directors exploited her appearance (and especially the unusually attractive look of her eyes) to create images of “rock beauties”.
Davies' first really deep work was the lead role in
The Burden of Human Passion based on the novel
The Private Life of Elizabeth and Essex And then Davis starred in
the picture "All this and the sky to boot" . Both films were a resounding success. And in 1950, she starred in the film, which is now called the classic of Hollywood - "All about Eve", thanks to which the actress received the prize at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1961, she starred with Joan Crawford in a horror film.
"What happened to Baby Jane?" For this role, she was once again nominated for an Oscar. And in 1962, a book of her memoirs was published, which were distinguished by a fair frankness:
Davis was married four times. From her third husband, the artist William Sherry, she gave birth to a daughter.
Died the actress at the age of 81 years on the way from San Sebastian, where at the next film festival she was awarded another award – recognition of her past merits. /
