He made his first painting in 1997. It was a collaboration with
Koktebel . It is based on the story of a man who, together with his young son, went to the Crimea on a crossbar, and on the way they crossed with a variety of people. This last joint project with Khlebnikov became the most successful, after which their paths diverged. Popogrebsky began working on the filming of the drama “Simple Things”, where Sergey Puskepalis and Leonid Broneva starred. This film received the Grand Prix of the festival “Kinotavr”, as well as prizes in such nominations as “Best Director” (Alexey Popogrebsky) and “Best Actor” (Sergei Puskepalis). In 2010, a thriller came out.

It is interesting that Popogrebsky, who lives in Moscow, does not shoot pictures in this city. He explains this very simply: shooting should not be accompanied by the usual reality, but take place “on the road”.
