Theodor Grigoriu is a Romanian composer and musicologist, one of the leading contemporary composers of Romania. He was born in Galats, Moldavia on July 25, 1926, and died on May 21, 2014. He studied at the Conservatory in Bucharest from 1932 to 1936 and in the 1950s graduated from postgraduate studies at the Moscow Conservatory, where he was a student of the outstanding composer Aram Khachaturyan.
