Lee Whannell was born in Melbourne, Australia on January 17, 1977. From the age of 4, he began to write stories, was a very talkative boy with a wild imagination, who was always attracted by the presence of an audience. While studying at school, he began writing for television reviews, and after graduation he entered the film school at the University of Melbourne. In his student years, Lee met James Vann, and this acquaintance became fateful. Students together wrote a script for the tape
Saw As part of his studies and even filmed a short episode.
While studying at university, Lee worked as a film critic for several Australian television shows. He also had the opportunity to take part in the filming of the movie “The Matrix: Reboot”, where the role was small.
Later, Lee Wannell and James Wan wrote the script for the sequel to Saw: A Game for Survival. The course supervisor was so impressed with the students' work that he sent it to Hollywood. After a few months, a letter came back that both authors were invited to shoot a picture based on the script.
After working on the first part of the film, Lee did not want to deal with the second part of Saw, but gave in to persuasion, but his partner refused to participate in the filming of the second part and subsequently the rest of the film. While working on the third part of Saw, Lee killed the killer so that no one else could shoot the fourth part, but this did not help.
While working on the first child, the film “Saw”, the screenwriter suffered from constant headaches, so he was forced to undergo treatment in the clinic.
In 2007, Lee Wannell released the film “Dead Silence” with James Wan, in 2008 appeared the short film “Paradise of Dogs”, and in 2008 the actor received the main role in the thriller “Dangered Cities” by Jodie Dwyer.
