Yuri Sergeyevich was born in 1927 in Kiev, studied at the Kiev Conservatory, graduating in 1951, and graduate school with it three years later. While studying at the same time he was a teacher in his alma mater, then moved to the Kursk Music School, where he worked until 1962.
In addition to teaching, he was engaged in creative activities, in particular, he performed concerts. In 1954, he made his debut as a film composer, writing the music for the film “Alarming Youth”. Also in his filmography such films as “Captain “Old turtle”, “Dreadful nights”, “Save our souls”, “Death of the squadron”. The last picture in his creative fate of the composer is the tape “Gulfstream”, released in 1968.
In 1973, Shchurovsky began to work in the publishing house "Musical Literature", where he was in charge of the department of musical and pedagogical literature. In parallel with his main work, he wrote music all his life, he owns a number of symphonies, overtures, string quartets, works for various instruments.
He died on October 13, 1996.
