Quote from the book by V. Smekhov "Notes on the scenes":
I am attracted by "high calm" speeches when I talk about the wonderful work of Nikolai Nikolaevich Zasukhin. But I am not alone: to this day (and two decades have passed) there is an echo of his play in Richard, very many people and Moscow, and Kuibyshev, and other cities with pleasure share the joy of the old memory. I'm not even referring to the lengthy press. I remember crowds of spectators, exacting and at that time very satisfied Muscovites, after half an hour of furious applause. Zasukhin, it seemed to me, was more tired of going out to bow than from the whole performance. And the viewer clapped in the old, good building of the Moscow Art Theatre (there were tours in the summer), and many times it was repeated: "Thank you, Zasukhin! Stay in Moscow!..." After many years he "obeyed" and remained. And he works, among other things, as an artist (people's artist) in the Art Theater. But this is a different song, a different conversation.
