Representative of the famous ballet dynasty of the Bolshoi Theatre. Born on December 24, 1948 in Moscow in the family of the famous ballerina Sulamifi Messerer. In 1968, he graduated from the Moscow Academic Choreographic School (a student of Alexander Rudenko) and entered the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet Company, where he studied with his uncle, Asaf Messerer, in the artist improvement class.
In 1978 he received the specialty of ballet master teacher, graduating from GITIS, where he studied with R. Zakharov, E. Valukin, R. Struchkova, A. Lapauri.
In 1980, during a tour of the Bolshoi Theatre in Japan, he asked with his mother for political asylum in the US Embassy and remained in the West.

In 1993, for the first time after escaping to the West (after thirteen years) he came to Moscow - at the invitation of Dmitry Bryantsev gave master classes to the dancers of the ballet troupe of the Moscow Academic Musical Theater named after K. S. Stanislavsky and V. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko. Since 2002, having received an invitation from Makharbek Vaziev, he began regularly conducting master classes for the ballet troupe of the State Academic Mariinsky Theatre. With this troupe came on tour to Moscow and the United States.
For more than twenty-five years he has been a regular guest educator at London’s Royal Ballet Covent Garden. With this troupe was on tour in Russia, Italy, USA, Japan, Argentina, Singapore, Israel, Greece, Denmark, Australia, Germany, Norway, China.
