Since 1958, he has been working at Toei Animation studio, but in the early 60s, after meeting Tezuka Osamu, he moved to work with him at Osamu Tezuka's Mushi Productions studio. Arriving as an animator, Rintaro quickly becomes a director. Among Rintaro’s most famous works at Tezuki’s studio are The Mighty Atom, Kimba, the White Lion, and Emperor of the Jungle.
One of Rintaro’s most recent works is the feature film Metropolis, based on Osama’s 1949 manga and created with Katsuhiro in 2001.
In 1989, Rintaro made the film The Story of Tezuki Osamu: My Name is Songoku, in memory of his teacher.
