The story of the transformation of a girl from an ordinary high school girl into a wise empress The plot of the anime is quite original. Although, now you can often find films that tell about different worlds or how people from our world fall into some other. But while watching "12 Kingdoms", the viewer will not feel plagiarism. There's no deja vu. In this anime, many themes are revealed that you will not find in films about other worlds. This anime shows the soul of the world of 12 kingdoms and compares it to the soul of our world.
The story tells how three high school students Yoko, Yuka and Asano enter the world of 12 kingdoms from Japan (or as the other world calls ours — Hourai). At first, they think it’s a mistake, they try to go home, but it turns out that this world is not alien to all three of them.
By fate, their paths diverge. Everyone has a lot of obstacles to overcome.
Throughout the series, I had mixed feelings for the main character of this anime, Yoko. In the beginning, she really strains with her insecurity, her desire to please everyone, to appear stronger, smarter, instead of just being herself. Throughout most of the anime, she feels sorry for herself, always saying "I'm stupid" or "I'm a terrible Empress". But if you compare it in the first series and at the end of the series, you can see huge changes. She becomes wiser, she starts trying to understand herself. Finally see how much she changed during her stay in the country of 12 kingdoms, in her first law as Empress. That's my personal opinion.
By the way, there are characters in this anime very similar to Yoko. This is Suzu, who weeps for the occasion and without, and Shekei, who deprived her of immortality and left her an orphan. They also like to feel sorry for themselves, like Yoko. No wonder fate brings them all together. From their appearance in the anime to the end, they mature strongly:
The most pleasant and most-most character, of course, is Rakusun. Despite how much evil there is in this world, despite the attitude of strangers to it, there is so much good in it, so much love for people. Throughout the viewing, I didn’t understand how it was possible to remain so clean and open in his position.
In general, the anime is original, which needs to be viewed. You will rarely find such a story opening. I’ve talked a lot about the characters in this anime, but I also want to highlight the atmosphere. A medieval atmosphere. It's just masterpiece. The atmosphere itself should attract a large number of viewers.
10 out of 10
P.S. I was also very interested in the story of Taika, which I believe has not been fully disclosed. It was left to the viewer, as I understand it. I think it was necessary to tell more about the Kirins, their feelings, emotions, nothing more.
I was also impressed by the last series of anime. In them we can learn more about the character of Emperor En, which was not much revealed due to the fact that the viewer was initially focused on the character of Yoko.
Anime worthy, with a good plot and beautiful characters. Nice viewing!
