In the middle of nowhere, I must have seen this movie. I can't say I didn't see it in vain. I can't say he didn't touch it at all. Touched, but I expected so much more. Although a couple of days later I reviewed several memorable moments - remembered both in a positive and negative sense.
What do you remember first? Became, I will not be afraid of this word, the iconic image of Princess Milicenta and the song "I am looking for you." These are circles that still diverge, against them I have nothing. The song is good, and Natalia Trubnikova, of course, was very beautiful in her youth.
The film also involves other beautiful young artists: Nikolai Eremenko Jr. (Sam), Alexander Godunov (Lemison) and his wife Lyudmila Vlasova (Ninet). The delicate details of Godunov’s flight to the United States and his separation from his wife do not bother me much, although, of course, the story was curious. In the film, both perfectly play their roles in both the medieval and the modern world - it is a pity that the medieval plot still divorced them (as if predicted further). Nikolai Yeremenko played a very touching lover - a somewhat careless romantic, who did not flinch at a critical hour and fought with the enemy. In their pair with Trubnikova, chemistry was present (in my opinion, Eremenko is the type of actor with whom any actress will have chemistry), and it was pleasant to observe the relationship between their characters.
In the film, other wonderful actors are also engaged in second roles: Vladimir Etush, Igor Yasulovich, Vladimir Zeldin, Mikhail Kokshenov, Lyubov Polishchuk. Unfortunately, the most memorable of them was Kokshenov - he did not have many lines, and they each time rang. Other actors were lucky with alternate success, and some scenes with them, in my opinion, sagged - but not the fault of the actors, but the writers. Vladimir Etush, for example, had a lot of scenes in which he just looks, looks, looks with this or that facial expression. . .
The story itself is beautiful and worthy of adaptation.
The interiors of the royal castle were annoying during viewing with darkness and lack of detail, but, admittedly, they constituted the necessary contrast with modern interiors and emphasized the difference of epochs, so I attribute this to a plus.
Impressed in a positive sense was the first moment of the “meeting” in the mirror, the first meeting in reality, a small fragment of the dance of Lemison and Milicenta (almost the only dance fragment I liked, where classical ballet movements perfectly fell into modern music), the “switching” of Milicenta in their time at the news of danger to Sam and the duel of Sam with the Red Knight. There are some very cute phrases scattered throughout the film, such as “He has a lot of songs, but they rarely correspond to royal honor and are forbidden for ever and ever” or a short dialogue about ghosts who have been left homeless. Thanks to the noted details, the film left a kind of aftertaste, it can not be called ordinary.
But something I didn't like in the end. The film preserves scenes and dialogue, which, in my opinion, it would be much better to cut without harming the whole. Some of Ninet's little lines seemed to me just a stretch of time. The most masterpiece in this regard was the protracted and not funny dialogue between the king and Quinny about that light and this light.
I didn’t like almost all the songs and dances. The sharp voice of the Valley, as it seemed to me, was not combined with the classical beauty of Lyudmila Vlasova, even playing a treacherous bitch, and the infantile manner of singing by Tatiana Antsiferova, who periodically does not fall into position, left me at all bewildered. In addition to the composition “I’m looking for you”, none, as far as I know, has not gained popular popularity, and if some types of “World without Lyubimov” can still be heard sometimes (however, this composition is terribly childish words), some seemed written or even tortured for the sake of a checkmark (for example, Bob Taylor’s song about marriage or Quinny’s song). Of the dances most shocked by the dance of ghosts, somewhat inconsistent, and it is immediately after the credits about the participation of the artists of the Bolshoi theater.
I didn't like that Milicenta didn't know why she changed clothes at the end and agreed to a pop number. Well, once, in a tavern wherever you went. Let's say she wanted to open up to Sam with a song. But I don’t think the princess should be involved in the show... it was far-fetched. Or the number was supposed to emphasize her new identity as much as possible. It looks like a dandelion, but in fact - took a sword and went to protect his Sam.
Very funny and naive were shot footage of the "trip" of Sam and Milicenta in Quinny's tavern, as well as the scene of the duel of Milicenta with the knights guarding Sam. In fact, it may even give the film some charm.
And here's the weird thing. Sitting down to write a review, I was going to speak about the film extremely critically and even began in this vein ... but, having analyzed it into components, I realized that in fact there is a lot of really good in it. And if it wasn't for songs. . .
I was shocked by the film 'June 31'. A wonderful, wonderful adaptation of the fantastic novel by Prisley.
Once again, I am convinced that what ours did was absolutely no worse. They had a special twist. There was no material allowed in the USSR. And this film - film adaptation, just blew my idea of Soviet cinema.
It is a musical, but it is fantastic, interesting, and not just a fairy tale for children, but a fairy tale for adults.
Dances, energy, costumes, actors and songs, and the plot!
In fact, as for the plot of the film, that is the only way I imagine true love.
It is romanticized, the film is like a fairy tale. It is atmospheric and has no analogues.
If you believe in a fairy tale, look for it.
There was a brilliant phrase in the film, which is now very popular with followers of the Force of Thought - ' everything you can imagine in your imagination - exists '.
Here, of course, a positive example is faith, hope, and love, where without it.
Today, June 30th, is a good time to remember one movie related to that date. “A day when all miracles are possible.” Of course, this is all about June 31.
I saw him on TV when I was a kid, and I fell in love. In general, it seemed to me that a film with so many songs and dances just couldn’t help but like it! Subsequently, I came across discussions - some people admitted that yes, it was beautiful and interesting, but for some reason did not catch on. Someone seemed a long love line, someone does not like musicals, someone did not like the choreography. So I decided to revisit it with a fresh look. Honestly, I was afraid of disappointment. . .
Of course, first impressions are the strongest. The film is not without flaws. Over half a century, the language of cinema has changed, especially when compared to modern films of similar themes. There is a lot to compare with, but there was no such technology back then. In addition, the film was created for television screens, you can see the schools of decorators, light artists and cameramen, especially when shooting in small pavilions. Not surprisingly, the filming lasted only a month and a half. But the same scenes and dance numbers could be filmed in a completely different way, more visually beautiful, clearly and harmoniously. Natalia Trubnikova is not a professional actress. But she tries to play the role of an outwardly cold and unflappable princess, full of dignity. You do not always believe in the game of handsome Sam (Nikolai Eremenko). But the presence of Vladimir Etush-Malgrim gives this all the shade of the necessary authenticity. He is simply beautiful in the role of a magician, seeking to get the necessary artifact.
With all this, the film is easy and enjoyable, it affirms the idea that a miracle is always possible. And that sincere and pure love is a great power, it is a pity that we miss it so much in life. And Zacepin's songs are beautiful! There is a huge number of them – more than 20. They are the ones who save the day and pull out the whole movie. Unfortunately, now most often remember “The world without a loved one”, “I am looking for you”. But Charleston and Dragonography are no worse! Each is a pearl, each a small masterpiece. Vocals of Zhanna Christmas, Larisa Dolina, Tatiana Anciferova are wonderful. For the music, I am ready to forgive this film any flaws.
Once again I hear the familiar mysterious, tapping fusion slipping through the doorway again with Lady Jane's sly smile. The story of love continues to touch hearts through the centuries.
In the twelfth century with one honor and conscience you will not live.
For all my love for John Boynton Priestley, the author of Yinun 31, I must say that the film turned out completely different. The director, apparently, wanted to shoot something fashionable and modern, maybe even at that time he succeeded. Given that director Leonid Kvinikhidze, the dad of the famous music films Mary Poppins, Goodbye! and Straw Hat, a bunch of songs were to be expected. Easy style, too, and about the fact that in front of us atypical fantasy, somehow forgotten. The film is about the imaginary time of King Arthur and a future that looks more like a failed present. This is about our supposedly fantastic films. Here is an example of a mixture of fantasy and fiction.
Princess Melicenta, of course, had to meet some standards, but the woman who got the role is not an actress for a minute, and the image she created has nothing to do with Princess Melicenta. Nikolai Eremenko Jr. more suitable for the role of Sam, although from him in this film carries the hero of the action movie. Sam was supposed to be kind, ridiculous and humorous. The film was saved, as is often the case, by secondary roles. Wonderful dark wizard Malgrim performed by Vladimir Etush, Vladimir Zeldin, who became King Meliot, Lyubov Polishchuk, who played a barmaid, Mikhail Kokshenov, a very funny servant of the king. Little-known actress Marina Nudga in the role of the ghost of the royal castle, in my opinion, would be much more suitable for the role of Princess Melicenta.
I don’t like the songs in the film for the most part either, but for Lord Henry’s heroic hit “The Dragon Named Nightmare,” I’m ready to endure everything. I’ve never heard anything better in films like this. In general, the musical accompaniment is memorable, organic and impressive. I first saw the film when I was a kid and then spent a decade looking for a book. Spiritual thirst was quenched only in the early 90s and it was too late. I have a review for June 31. Priestley, I am very sorry for this author.
And the movie had to have a dragon, which turned the boss Sam, who, like Sam, was afraid of the fight, but knew, according to the dragon classification, which type of dragon he belongs to the algorithm of self-control. Priestley is beautiful.
The main thing is that “June 31” creates some unique mood, some romantic breasts from films of the era when I argued with my mother, demanding to leave me at the TV, because for the first time they showed “Mary Popins, goodbye!”

... The heavenly lights, the heavenly lights, the boundless road of the stars. They are above the abyss, above the black abyss, for you and me in the night like a star bridge.
There are always people around,
People can't always be together.
There is no love of earthly love.
Burning endlessly.
Tell me why we love it, then.
Tell us why we love each other.
Counting days, burning hearts...
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Always. When I hear the first notes of this magical song, I have an inner thrill in my soul and my heart is ready to jump out of my chest. For some reason I have been so since I was 10 years old, I constantly felt that I was living in the wrong time. I don’t know why, but watching any historical film (artistic or documentary), especially a film about the events of the 17th and 19th centuries, makes me so sad and at the same time incredibly joyful, as if I see the time in which I should live. But why do I live in the 21st, born in the 20th century? There everything is close to me, everything is native, and here it is like everything alien and temporary. Although it is possible that these are only the memories of a rebellious soul that her past does not want to let go of.
"June 31" - free interpretation of the story John Priestley, made in the form of a musical fantasy film. The events of the picture take place in two parallel worlds: the first of them is the reality of the XXI century, and the second is a fairy tale that takes place in the XII. Sam Penty from the tough, pragmatic, revolves around money and profit of the 21st century, is engaged in advertising and looking for a girl for new shoots. He needs to complete the order before July 1, and on June 30, he sees a woman in the mirror and realizes that he has found his ideal. At this time in another universe, the king is looking for a life partner for the daughter , it is her reflection that he saw Sam. The girl is not suitable for any of her contemporaries, and in Penty she falls in love at first sight. Malgrim - an evil wizard who promises to bring a couple together, wants for services a too expensive gift brooch - Great Merlin, owned by Melicente. Good magician Marlogram tries to help the beloved free of charge, but nothing comes out. Trying to deceive the laws of time and space, the characters do not lose hope, because of which they fall into many difficult situations. But their adventures will certainly lead to a logical outcome.
In my opinion, this is the best musical of domestic cinema. How time flies! I can’t believe that it’s been 40 years since the premiere, almost all the great actors have already left, and the film remains as fresh, timeless, that is, almost a classic. 100% hit of the cast, amazing music. A kind, beautiful fairy tale story.Fairy tales exist, that would have them at least a little believe. And so I want to get to the country of childhood and return everything back, and many things to correct in life, and again to see people who are close to the heart, who are no longer in this world, to hear their laughter, to hug them again. The picture "June 31" shows a lot about the unknown. For me, as I think for many viewers, the plot was interesting. The film is not complicated and easy to understand. Still, at the time he was incredibly popular and loved by the audience. I suggest you look again (and maybe more than once) and remember your childhood. Yes, maybe and probably the book is better received, but there are no songs in the book. A wonderful main song from this film was released on the record by the company "Melody" and became the object of hunting music lovers. My film-nostalgia, I remember how my mother got a vinyl record somewhere (I was in line, as I later told), so I listened to it, listened to it and looked at the pictures on it all. How incredibly beautiful here Nikolai Yeremenko, just words can not convey. Not for nothing, after all, he was recognized as the most beautiful actor of the USSR (a sex symbol, as you would call it now). I don't like that expression, though. His captivating look, alluring smile and insidious velvet voice, just drive crazy. How many women of the USSR dreamed about it in their time. I still watch the film with adoration Over time, of course, that puppy delight passed when I waited for the program to show the film. Now there is nostalgic pleasure in watching and music. So little in the life of a fabulous, that you still watch with tenderness "Official novel", "Irony of fate ..." and "June 31".
Classics are forever! It would seem that the film is old and spectacular special effects, but how much dynamics! And the songs? As eternal as the love that we are talking about in this wonderful film. Love through the ages... This is more than beautiful. Incredibly sensual, soulful, fabulous, but true ... and a hopeful film, watch everyone!
“The story you’re about to see, hmm... hasn’t happened yet.” But it will happen in the beginning of the 21st century.
I want to believe that this story happened. I would like to believe that Sam Panty and Princess Melicenta have already met in our dull, gray and troubled 21st century. I know for sure that was all in the movie. After all, this at the beginning of the film was confirmed by the wizard Malgrim himself, who was played by the magnificent Vladimir Etush.
Charming Melicenta from the 12th century - the time of King Arthur and artist Sam Panty from the 21st century, who lost the muse and is about to - work. She doesn't know what a tape recorder is, he doesn't know what it's like to have a court musician. They met in our century, thanks to Malgrim, and couldn't separate. They are waiting for amazing time travel, fighting for each other and sometimes comic situations, without which the film would seem too sweet.
First of all, let me talk about the benefits:
1) if you are a fan of fairy tales, fantasy and anything unusual, do not miss this film;
2) musical productions of the musical (after all, it is a musical, only television!) are inspiring. Especially, a favorite song ' People can't always be together'. You know, when I hear it, everything turns inside. It blows purity, something lost, forgotten.
3) good acting. Love Polishchuk (an incomparable barmaid Quinny) is generally my favorite heroine in this film, and by the way, one of the first roles of the great actress; Natalia Trubnikova will forever remain for me in the image of a princess, Nikolai Eremenko, Vladimir Etush, Lyudmila Vlasova and others. .
4) an interesting story that will quickly transport you to another era. Where there are magicians: evil and good; unusual outfits; intrigue and music - only alive!
Of course, the film has its drawbacks.
1) I understand, of course, that this is a musical. But still too many musical numbers, meaningless songs. Sometimes you get used to the plot, you feel as if you yourself are there, in the 12th century, in Perador, the situation is already heated, and then the song begins. Its meaning is often not fully understood. . .
2) lubricated end. You always expect something amazing at the end. And then everything happened too quickly, predictable.
But in any case, you will not waste time. Who knows, maybe you're Princess Melicenta or artist Sam?
There is no better day in June than the 31st lunar day.
A wonderful film.
I saw him late. I didn't have to. Already the songs from it became popular and the record with them came out, but missed the viewing for the first time, and everything moved away for many years.
I wouldn’t even call this film fiction, but rather a fairy tale film. A fairy tale. Wonderful actors, music, songs and choreography.
One day I heard that of all the songs of this film, only one became popular – “People can’t always be around...” and more, they say, there is nothing to listen to there. I strongly disagree with this assessment. So they didn't listen well. In general, the artists for the voiceover of the songs were invited outstanding - Tatiana Antsiferova, Larisa Dolina, Yak Yola - that neither name, the star. And the songs here are not some artisan-under-trained, but the maestro Zatsepin himself. So listen, gentlemen! And have fun.
However, there are no friends in the taste and color. And maybe that’s why someone from the generation of today’s young people, accustomed to computer special effects and graphics of a different kind, the film will seem simple, but do not rush to evaluate! Just look at it carefully. Besides being a fairy tale, it’s also primarily a love movie. I would even say it's a love anthem. The love that knows no boundaries in time or distance. The one that, no matter what, exists! And when you watch this film, you believe it, even though you are already in your sixth decade, even though you know that it is not necessary to assure you of this and prove something.
Very successful selection of actors. Eremenko, Zeldin and Etush are generally classics. Even Kokshenov, a purely comedic actor, does not spoil the overall picture. Love Polishchuk looks funny, who played either a mulatto or a black woman.
About the choreography, I’m generally silent – just look at who among the actors who played the main roles are wonderful dancers Natalia Trubnikova from the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater, Lyudmila Vlasova and Alexander Godunov from the Bolshoi Theater. What happened after the movie was released, and why did it sit on the shelf for seven years? This is another story, and you can read about it on the Internet.
As for the film itself, I recommend everyone to watch it.
At least once.
To visit the wonderful lunar day on June 31!

The film “June 31” by Leonid Kvinikhidze. How long have I wanted to write a review of this beautiful Russian musical, shot in the best traditions of Russian musical comedy. Truly, this is one of the best Russian musicals!Songs from it went to the people, having survived both the era of the creation of the picture and the film itself. Regularly riding in the bus or car, I hear songs from this film on the radio or television - "The world without a loved one", "I am looking for you", "He came, this good day". By the beauty, sophistication of music and the brightness of the picture itself, you begin to unwittingly compare it with the best musical films of the XX century. I will name only a few - "Fun Fellows", "Circus", "Spring", "Singing in the Rain", "Scherbourg Umbrellas", "West Side Story" and other films. It would not be an exaggeration to put “June 31” on a par with these great musical paintings. What are the elements of this talented production?
1. The music of Alexander Zatsepin-yes, it is incomparable. It couldn't have been any other way. Alexander Zatsepin is one of the best composers of the USSR. The music for the film “June 31” became his next masterpiece.
2. The literary primary source-film is based on the literary work of the English writer John Boyton Priestley, significantly changed by screenwriter Nina Fomina. As a result-creation of an independent work, filigree combining comedy and drama, lyricism and tragedy in the plot are invariably present, without interfering with a friend from which one can conclude that this is musical tragicomedy (this is especially noticeable in the finale of the picture, which is filled with dramatic moments a little more than most of the film).
3. Participation of ballet dancers Boris Godunov and Lyudmila Vlasova - one of the best in the USSR of that time artists provided the picture with magnificent dance numbers at a high professional level. And the performance of these artists one of the main roles in the film provided them with a constant presence on the screen and revealed their dance genius in all its power.
4. Mixing game genres, genre diversity-film shot in the genre of fantasy, comedy, melodrama and romantic comedy, drama, musical. The peculiarity is the fact that none of the genres of the top does not win – the picture lacks both laughter and tears almost equally, which slightly relates it to such a famous musical as “Circus” by Grigory Alexandrov.
5. Participation in the film by Vladimir Zeldin, Igor Yasulovich, Lyubov Polishchuk, etc. - provided a brilliant and win-win comedy ensemble, which played in the best traditions of the time.
6. Vocal parts are performed by the best pop performers – Zhanna Christmas, Tatiana Antsiferova and then beginning Larisa Dolina. Men's parties Yaak Yola and Sergey Belikov.
7. Finally, the main characters-princess of the fairy-tale state Perador Melisent (Natalia Trubnikova) and the artist from the XXI century Sam Penty (Nikolai Eremenko) - play a love storyline with inherent sublimity, grace and beauty.
Despite the brilliant merits of the picture, it also has some flaws:
1. The picture is almost entirely shot in the pavilion, which impoverishes the spectacular component of the picture. This is especially noticeable when compared with modern paintings. But an attentive and sensitive viewer will easily ignore this flaw, because the general atmosphere of the film, filled with kindness and ease, will not let you get bored.
2. More substantial, larger timekeeping. The picture is a TV movie (2 episodes), the plot stretches for almost 120 minutes, which is very dangerous for such a genre as a musical, because the musical has no right to be drawn. Unfortunately, “June 31” could not avoid the delay – sometimes the plot frankly sags, the characters that are not involved in the plot of the film at the moment flash in the frame (a vivid example is during the performance of the song by Lemison, King Melliot is visible in the frame, and at the same time he is not involved in the development of the plot). But this drawback is unimportant, because everything is bathed in a unique atmosphere and bright songs.
The film "June 31" can be safely attributed to a new stage of development of the Soviet musical - in particular, the use of new methods of sound processing, not used anywhere else in the USSR flanger, fuzz, wow. The sound director of the picture was a famous specialist Viktor Babushkin. Also, the rock band “Arax” and the ensemble “Melody” were attracted.
The film was shown on New Year’s Eve, 1979 and attracted the audience with an amazing love story of a princess and an artist who does not know time barriers and sweeps away any obstacles in her path, even such serious as the machinations of the wizard Malgrim (in a brilliant performance by Vladimir Etush).
Thanks to ageless music and songs, beautiful history and bright acting, this picture is one of the most important works of Russian cinema.
Thank you for the wonderful film!
For a lonely heart. “I am looking for you in the world.” When can you think, maybe you were born in the wrong era? Perhaps the other half lives some centuries ago/forward? People tend to make mistakes, and spend the rest of their lives with the wrong person. So why take the universe by accident and not make a mistake? It is wrong not to light your star prematurely. Or late. And to her - what for us decades, she - a moment.
And it is clear that all partings are made already on the ground. It's for a broken heart. “Do not count separation in this universe.” Any separation occurs naturally and logically after the meeting. And if the meeting took place and separation came after it, it is clear that the Universe and Time have nothing to do with it. All the circumstances are in place. And on Melicenta and Sam look in any case interesting, whether it is machinations on the part of detractors, or misunderstanding between them.
A happy heart (which we don’t want to see any movie) can just pinch a little. “What if fate tells you to break up?” After all, the main characters had so many ebbs and tides in time (and not always synchronous), that sometimes it seemed that they would never meet again.
Among the Soviet films, this is never lost. Not just because of their differences with others. And, of course, the presence of an immortal diamond - the song "I am looking for you." Maybe dancing or settings can make you smile condescendingly. But this song is timeless. It will sooner or later seat a new generation of viewers to see where it first sounded. Its greatness is comparable to “Call Me, Call Me,” “Three White Horses,” or “The Wind of Change.”
And indeed, "today is fashionable what was fashionable in the 70s of the last century!" Watch the high fashion shows and look at the clothes of the heroes of the film: cloche princesses from variety and cardigan Sam, T-shirts with a hood and shoes on the platform ... Is that just a coincidence?
The film is really brilliant. As a musical, it undoubtedly deserves to be staged and staged on all the most beautiful stages of musical theaters, along with Les Miserables, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, My Fair Lady, Romeo and Juliet, Notre Dame de Paris: in Paris, London, on Broadway, in Moscow, and where else?
It is a pity that for Leonid Kvinikhidze, Alexander Zatsepin and Nina Fomina, these times have come only now. But I hope they take advantage of them, or maybe they will find the strength to use them now. You can only imagine what a powerful theater of musicals they could create today in Russia, if not even in a free country they created a musical that largely eclipses Notre Dame de Paris, Cats, West Side Story, Romeo and Juliet and even Jesus Christ.
But that's not surprising. Nina Fomina and Vera Boccardo, as well as many actors of the film, from Natalia Trubnikova to Lyudmila Vlasova, belong to the world of theater. The filmmakers used a huge trump card – Russian ballet. No one has it today except Russia. Since the time of Diaghilev and Nijinsky, Petipa, Fokin, Anna Pavlova, Karsavina, Krieger, our ballet has remained unsurpassed. In the world almost set the tone only Russian ballet:
Diaghilev Russian Ballet (from 1911 to 1929)
I. L. Rubinstein (from 1910 to 1934)
Ah. Pavlova (England, and then the whole world from 1918 to 1931)
Russian Romantic Theatre by B.G. Romanov (1922-1926, Germany)
"Ballet - Intimacy" in 1916 in the USA by A. R. Bolma
M. M. Fokin and V. P. Fokina. "Fokine American Ballet" c 1924
Based on the "Fokine American Ballet" American ballet "Mordkin Ballet" (from 1927 to 1939)
Ballet Teeter (from 1951 American Ballet Theather)
Plus, of course, the film had hints of ballet for the Silver Age, for decadence – hence the emigrants, people who did not recognize the Soviet system of values. So pay attention! "June 31" - stands in a row not only with musicals, but also with ballet productions that have become classics. “Sacred Spring”, “Loneliness”, “God’s Clown” by Nijinsky, “The Death of the Rose” How much mysterious and magical feeling was put into it. It's the same on "June 31." “Be a riotous girl,” said the great choreographer Gorsky young Rita Kandaurova. Do not dance on your fingers (candy). Jump like a young goat and get really crazy. Die seriously, not by putting one leg on the other. Every movement carries a thought, a feeling, a state, an action..., as contemporaries wrote about it. Isn’t that the same school we’ve seen in contemporary Western musicals, from West Side Story to CATS?
Of course, Vera Bocciardo took this system and “returned” it to Russia in a musical! Tragic authenticity in the dance in everything: from the passionate overcoming of times and dimensions in the dance of princesses to the challenge of loneliness and the inability to love and be loved in the duet of Godunov and Vlasova. And the songs written by Alexander Zatsepin could be performed by Jan Gilan himself, who sang the aria of Christ in Jesus Christ Superstar, and one magic multiplies another. It is clear that in Soviet times, the film demolished the roof of people on a par with Tarkovsky.
But there is something else in this film that, Imho, could have put him on the shelf. It's magic. In Soviet times, as I understand it, magic and religion were banned. Tolkien and Lewis were not published, fiction was not printed, and fantasy, probably, like rock music, was considered a manifestation of “bourgeois consciousness”?
Today, there are constant discussions and discussions on the Internet about teleportations in space and time, about 6 and 5 quantum dimensions, take at least Interstellar, it (if, especially, watch the full version) gives a scientific sweep on the question of quantum measurements of time and space, much is explained about 5 and 6 dimensions, not to mention the channeling, about Kryon, where only this is written. In the film, for the first time, the question of the "measurement of thoughts" is raised: "What exists in our imagination must exist somewhere in the universe!" - Malgrim tells Sam in the squash "At the Raven Horse". This is the “measurement of thoughts”, “Transition 2012” – this is now being talked about everywhere. The film probably stirred the consciousness of future scientists and writers.
And the last scene, when Sam and Milicenta in an abandoned English museum trying to remember something so important and dear to them and lost, with soulful tragic music, is simply amazing. Did not each of us have some vague longing on excursions in medieval castles, as if we had already been here before? Listen to medieval music, maybe you will hear the echo of hoofs and the ringing of swords in tournaments. Or the subtle soulful and exquisite lyricism of the lute and bewitching, as if by the memory of passion, the sadness of the oboe? What are they crying about? ... about the impossibility of returning those who were here once? Suffered, looking for truth in the fight against cruel treachery, or dreamed of a fight with the Dragon in the name of the Beautiful Lady? Where do they come from, these enchanting, incomprehensible sounds of Music in the cold, crystal-clear Silence of frozen Time?
Is it not for this reason that Celtic music, role modeling, Hallowice, knight tournaments and festivals are so popular?
Isn't that what we're all trying to remember, isn't that what Disney, the fantasy series, is all about? Perhaps the filmmakers were ahead of their time or actually visited the beginning of the 21st century.
Is the series "June 31" possible? Ballet, fantasy and musical at the same time? Perhaps we will see it again - the idea, in my opinion, remains open, and the plan of the film is far from over.

For a long time I was going to see this film, or rather I just didn’t hear about it, my family did not admire it, as for example ' Dog in the manger', ' Service novel', ' Ordinary miracle', '12 chairs' and ' Irony of fate'.
But I grew up and at 22 I finally decided to watch it. In the description of the film it is written that this is a love story that passes through time'
What was my impression of this movie?
The idea of the film unusual, BUT! director was not implemented and really transferred. I was killed by terrible scenery, unrehearsed dancing. And it was so weird to watch. Couldn't we have rehearsed everyone moving at the same time Their dances were like the 2nd school room rehearsal? The film is difficult to watch, filled with foreign, unfamiliar dialects.
Game of actors. Unusual beauty of the main actress and masculine appearance of the main character adorn the picture, but this is not enough. You need to play! The actress reminded me something of Jeanne Applete in the role of Julka from ' Balzac age' she can only be in a state with her mouth always ajar: )
The idea of a strong woman and a weak man is more than present in this film. It was so strange to look at the main character, who dreamed of a strong, courageous prince, chooses a weak man, that is, they change roles. This change of roles, to be honest, I never understood what the director had planned for. Is it an adaptation to the modern world?

A resident of the time of King Arthur, Princess Melicent of Perador and modern artist Sam found and fell in love through a mirror, which at all times was one of the main subjects of mysticism. Are there barriers to true love in the form of time, space, and social status? John Priestley in his fairy tale “June 31” once again proved this.
The filmmakers did not spoil the idea, but they embodied it through ballet, adding their own fantasies, for example, how people will eat in the XXI century. From a fun fairy tale there were only rags, the characters are boring, boring. Yes, Nikolai Eremenko is divinely beautiful, so what? I might as well frame his portrait, hang it on the wall, and admire it in my spare time. Where's the artist in love, Sam? To match him the same sluggish Princess Melicenta and other characters. Some of them dance, but even dances performed by the artists of the Bolshoi Theater of Viviality in the film are not added.
Usually songs from musicals become hits. There was only one hit: “I am looking for you.” And I look for the charm of the source in this film.
Mystique of mirrors, love... There was a swing at mysticism, but the mystic is that how could you invite good actors, put cheerful songs in their mouths and feet and make an uninteresting film?
What grade do you want? The film does not preach bad, but I will put a minus for a spoiled work.

June 31 is a magical lunar day, when the turns of the time spiral close, when transitions between parallel worlds open and using the sphere of imagination - the sixth dimension, you can easily move from one world to another, overcoming unthinkable distances in space and time. There must exist somewhere in the universe that was once created by our imagination and lives deep in our subconscious. So where should all this be, if not in this sixth dimension?
In the twelfth century there lived a beautiful princess, Melicenta, who dreamed of a prince or a knight, because of those knights who lived in her time, there was nothing decent to pick up: one curved, another lame, the third old, the fourth frankly stupid, the fifth is also very far from ideal. Prince Hamlet lived next door, but he died last Friday. And he also did not particularly correspond to the image of the brave and beautiful knight she had dreamed of for so long.
And in the twenty-first century there lived the artist Sam, who once read a book by John Priestley about a beautiful medieval princess from Pirador, and since then the image of the Beautiful Lady has not left his mind. After all, he was an artist, which means that his creative imagination and imagination were developed magnificently. He was also looking for his ideal, but in the XXI century girls for some reason did not look like dreamy and tender princesses, well aware of what royal honor and self-esteem are.
And it was on this lunar day that the wizard Malgrim through a real corridor between the two worlds - a mirror, showed the princess the artist Sam. Separated by a magical mirror, space and time, Melicenta and Sam fell in love at first sight. How could it have been otherwise, since their souls had been looking for meetings for so long. Malgrim promised Melicenta that he would lead her across the Star Bridge to Sam. But for this, the princess must give the gift of the Great Merlin - a magical brooch that can fulfill any desire. But only one thing. Most important and most important. And this can only be done on June 31, on this beautiful lunar day, when all miracles are performed and everything impossible is possible.
A wonderful film, a wonderful tale about the greatest miracle – love. A true love over which nothing can control. This is the most wonderful gift that people can give each other. It is to give, not to exchange for knightly feats made for herself, her beloved, like Lady Ninet, who rejected Lemison, a court musician, who was in love with her. To get her love, you must first kill the dragon and become a knight. The love of a simple musician does not need it. But she doesn’t need love at all. She wants the Pirador crown. And there's no need to look for that crown. To get it, you need intrigue, deception, deceit. And that's all Lady Ninet can do. And if you join the sorcerer Malgrim...
But no magic can prevent two lovers from meeting on Star Bridge, which is also called the Milky Way and has no end. Like love, the power of which helps to overcome space and time. After all, there, in the Milky Way, in the depths of the Universe, no longer being tied to people and to the Earth, time loses its linear characteristics and acquires the characteristics of space. The future, the present and the past exist simultaneously. And two lovers from different centuries can easily meet on this Milky Way, just assigning any date to meet. But why would anyone... After all, there is such a wonderful lunar day - June 31!
There are a lot of great songs in this movie. But one of them after the release of this beautiful film with a very difficult fate instantly became popular. It is popular and loved by many people.
You can’t always be around people.
People can’t always be together.
Why can't we, if we just saw with our own eyes what we can do? And for this you just need to know how to love. Just... And the magic brooch of the Great Merlin has nothing to do with it.
