The whole world is theater, and the people in it are actors. Excellent drama of the closed screening of the Soviet chronicle. A film about life, about people, about the hostages of their profession. A bus with an itinerant troupe of artists gets to the next city to give a performance. The whole world is theater, and the people in it are actors. William Shakespeare looked into the water, as this statement in a literal and figurative sense reflects the cruel reality of the tape.
Each passenger of the bus is an individual person, and everyone has their own attitude to the theater. These are people of the profession, they earn their bread, trying on a bunch of guises on their characters, thereby escaping from reality, immersed in someone else's life. Our attention is presented to the slightest quarrel between the two characters, which results in the separation of actors in order to be more imbued with the ideas, dreams and stories of everyone’s life.
The pleasant atmosphere of the Soviet time falls on viewing, travel turns into various obstacles, and artists perfectly describe the situation. The leader, administrator of the troupe was Liya Akhedzhakova, who brightened up all the dramatic elements with her voice, added enthusiasm and all the time rushed forward, through all obstacles. From technical problems to the split of the soul. Great representation of man in different conditions of existence.
Thanks to the initial split, which served as the promotion of the secondary line, one can assess the suffering of a person who hides his difficult life under the mask of the theater, the metaphor and statements of the character are reflected in the events of the tape during the timing, and in the upcoming finale. “You can’t play on me,” a person is not an instrument, not an element of some mechanism, but a living being with his feelings and emotions. This presentation of the truth of life is reflected in actions and remorse of conscience.
As long as we get to know the characters, circumstances give us the opportunity to improvise and create a great performance (even though we have actors) right on stage. The last act before the climax makes you grab your heart when people start telling the truth. Acting skills are intertwined with complex reality, giving birth to the best performance of artists, the story of life through clarifying relationships. After all, it is not for nothing that director Joseph Heifitz put the conflict in such a way at the beginning of the film to bring the final tape to it, to make the conflict not general, but private, common to all participants in the trip.
The drama of the film can be viewed on different levels: the story of one person and all artists. The small turns into the greater, so that on the final chords of the trembling of the heart return to the smaller, but more significant element of another life on stage. A different atmosphere, concealment of true intentions and demonstration of talent. “So I really played and got used to the role” – these words hurt like a knife, seep not only into the soul of the characters, but also have a special effect on the viewer.
