This movie only runs for an hour and a half. The first half is a thriller, where the main mystery lies not outside, but in the head of the heroine. False or true? Hallucination or reality? Is the heroine's daughter real? At first, she was gently, then irritatedly convinced that the girls were not on board, and the passenger lists were also not listed. And the heroine has just died, she is on sedatives ... maybe her psyche is just defending itself from reality? Maybe. Maybe they're all lying. Flight attendants, pilots, security. Sounds like paranoid nonsense. But the heroine has grief, not paranoia! This is a psychological thriller.
A plane, luxurious, ultra-modern, like a spaceship. A little like a dream. Hermetic detective. Jodie Foster, thin, unbending, steel woman.
What could possibly go wrong?
That's it! The second half of the movie kills the first half. The intrigue is revealed, we are thrown cards on the table, and ... it becomes uninteresting. Because the intrigue is illogical, there is a hole in the hole, if you think for a minute, everything falls apart like a house of cards. You were waiting for some multi-movement, and there is a killer butler.
But you can see it once. This movie has a style.
I came across this film on one of the TV channels. After seeing it, Jodie Foster decided that this film should be seen in its entirety.
The plot is pretty simple. Foster’s husband dies and she and her daughter are forced to take his body to America by plane. Waking up during the flight, the heroine discovers that her child is missing. And now, raising the entire staff of the aircraft in her ears, it is in her head, and the viewer too, that there is no child and she is a little crazy after the tragedy associated with her husband.
The events of the film develop rapidly and now we learn the main secret. And that secret made me a little bit confused. Having learned the main secret of the film, I came to the conclusion that the mentally ill here is not the main character, but the one who decided to implement his plan. Although from the last action of the heroine Jodie Foster, where it would be more correct, and more logical, still not to press the button, but to run away, involuntarily there was a desire to send her to a course of mental rehabilitation.
The film is interesting because you immediately completely immerse yourself in the mysterious script of the picture and this mystery does not let go to the twist. Just as a big plus is the fact that the film is very detailed how the plane is arranged, it was entertaining to look at what is under the seats of passengers, as well as at the nose of the aircraft. The only downside is the twist of the movie. Delusional and not logical plan, as a crystal figure could break only from small changes in the behavior of the characters of the film, as well as from other smallest details, but for the sake of the script, this did not happen and therefore everything looks artificial and implausible.

Psychological thriller Robert Schwentke ' The Flight Illusion' was released approximately at the same time as the project of Wes Craven ' Night Flight' where events also develop in the air, and the main characters are women. True, the plot component of the films is different. In the case of Illusion 39, Jodie Foster has to search for her missing daughter and prove to all the passengers and crew that the girl really exists and is not a figment of her imagination.
Kylie Pratt (Foster) flies with her US daughter to bury her husband in an accident. The coffin with his spouse is located in one of the technical compartments of the giant airliner, on board which there are more than 420 passengers. Since the flight from Europe to the States is night, Kylie falls asleep, and when she wakes up, she finds out that the girl is missing. The search does not lead to anything - others increasingly believe that Kylie is crazy and is in a state of stress due to the death of her husband.
The film plays a rather terrible situation from a human point of view, because the heroine of the film has to convince everyone that her daughter is not a figment of imagination and face misunderstanding from others. This prank is going quite well, plus in the plot (according to the laws of the genre) there is a false trail, as well as a turning point from the onset of which it becomes clear that the situation is actually not as described by others.
In terms of reliability (or rather realism), the film sags primarily due to the fact that such an exuberant passenger as Kylie would hardly be allowed to move freely over and over again on the plane and excite already frightened passengers. Too many inappropriate actions from one person were recorded so that this person could continue to walk around the ship. And the regular appearance of the commander of the aircraft (played by Sean Bean) also looks unlikely due to special regulations available for pilots of aircraft. And of course, the fact that absolutely no one saw the girl (which means many believed in the madness of Kylie Pratt), can also be considered unlikely. Yes, Kylie got on board with her daughter the very first, which means she went to her seats through empty rows and naturally no one could pay attention to them. But already in the course of the flight, when the plane gained altitude and it was possible to unfasten the belts, the mother and daughter did this and went to the tail section, where there were free seats to lie down! As in such a situation, none of the passengers saw the girl - not noticeable!
Robert Schwentke decided that few people would pay attention to such a scenario nuance if the action of the plot develops rapidly and the emotional state of the main character will only intensify. However, if you ask certain questions at the end (yes or in the course) of the viewing, you can understand that there are still white spots in the script.
Certain questions arise on other plot points. For example, over-awareness of Kylie aircraft design. So what, she designed the engines? She was not engaged in the design of the fuselage of the aircraft and could hardly know about all the manholes, hatches and doors inside, to move there like a fish in the water?
...
Jodie Foster is not the first of his terrified mother, because in 2002 they, along with Kristen Stewart (she played the daughter of Foster), escaped from burglars in Fincherovskaya & #39; Room of Fear'. However, in my opinion, the actress played much better and more convincingly there than in the Illusions of Flight 39. In Schwentke, she appeared too hysterical and her emotions seemed too tenacious.
' The Flight Illusion' the output turned out to be a good thriller, in which the viewer is disturbed by the main question: where did the girl go, because she could not get away from the plane (if she certainly existed). If you watch and enjoy the atmosphere of the film, it can be considered excellent in its genre. If you think about the plot details, the project Schwentke is no longer without shortcomings.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Nowadays, it is not easy to find a good thriller, and every time you watch it, you catch yourself thinking that the film is not at all intriguing, does not keep in suspense; the predictability of the plot moves deprives you of the pleasure of realizing the flimsy narrative canvas of many modern thrillers: they try to complicate the plots, but this plays against them, because it is better to make a quality film with a simple but strong plot than to pour a complex existence, incomprehensible to a simple mortal from the mainstream street. The film “The Flight Illusion” is worth spending an evening on it and then try to understand why?
The plot is based on the story of a young woman who stepped on board a super-modern two-story plane to transport her husband’s body to New York for cremation. The first shots of the film bring a slight sadness and sadness, snowy German streets betray a light shade of melancholy to the footage flowing through the screens. The writers tried to give an adequate start to the conflict, gradually developing its dynamics and ending the narrative in an unexpected way. Kyle's reaction to the loss of his daughter is in line with his mother's naked instinct to do anything to find out the state of his offspring. A little hypertrophied her unbalance in some scenes, but when you realize that this is part of the plan, the internal panic recedes into the background.
This film does not want to perceive the mind, somehow analyze, sublimate additional meanings, as it seems to me here enough understanding of what lies on the surface, it seemed interesting that what usually performs the function of good here acts as an antagonizing force. Rarely has an air marshal been a villain. The problem of Semiticism is shown here in one small stroke, but it is shown in the scene where the heroine Jodie Foster in an emotional rush interrogates a poor passenger, thereby attacking an innocent Arab. But again, these subtexts are invented when you want to dig and are not originally laid.
This is a psychological thriller that women of the beautiful sex will understand better, because they know more than anyone else the feeling of being taken from your blood, thereby making a hole in your chest, and reality is perceived as an illusion: every passenger is under suspicion - because no one took their eyes off the TV when the poor girl was put to sleep with a tranquilizer and carried into carts past people. Nobody believes Kyle and she enters into confrontation with everyone, trying to prove first of all to herself that she is not going crazy, that sedatives did not affect her perception of reality and at this point the film is sharply gaining momentum, capturing and not letting go to the final credits.
The acting game here is largely built on the abilities of Jodie Foster, the first violin in this representation is Kyle Pratt, aware of the setup in relation to herself and showing a diverse emotional range. Foster managed to be remembered for his strong performance and the organic existence of the actress in the role is pleasant to watch. Peter Sarsgaard played well, it's nice to watch, but the writers prescribing this character made a big mistake, prescribing a monologue to him in which he essentially spoiler for the viewer motives and partner, and they are prosaic, but the film is not particularly harmful. Sean Bean looked good in the role of Captain Rich, existed well in the image, there are not enough stars from the sky but did not cause negative emotions.
Now briefly on the criteria. The plot put four out of five, the script is interesting and worked out, as the main character reacts to what is happening interesting to watch, and criminal elements are well prescribed. Spectacularity for four, action and special effects is almost non-existent, since everything works due to the correct injection of atmosphere and good acting. She is also a five, Jodie Foster has interesting findings on the vision of the character and they work well to embody the character of her character.
Verdicting: The film is worth spending a free evening on it, because there is a good script in which there is still a serious flaw (see paragraph above), increasing dynamics, pleasant acting, forcing musical accompaniment. Atmospheric psychological thriller, I advise you to familiarize yourself and make your opinion. Good to you all!
General impression: What would a mother do for a child? In the center of the plot we have Kyle Pratt (Jodie Foster) , making a flight from Berlin to New York with his child, faces a problem. During the flight the girl disappears without a trace. Where can a child go from a closed space? As it turned out, Kyle is experiencing emotional stress due to the death of a loved one, and the staff with passengers on board begin to doubt the adequacy of the heroine. Yes, and Kyle herself is already struggling to perceive reality, but is it really so?
The plot can confuse the viewer only initially, throwing dust in our eyes and the narrative wants to unravel these knots, which are not so much tied. But it is worth noting that the situation in which the heroine found herself can strain any person. The very horror - the loss of a child was read in the eyes of the heroine, here it is worth paying tribute, the actress conveyed all her experience to me from the screen. And the transition from a sane person to a mad mother is enormous. An impeccable acting game, where every movement of the heroine wants to watch. You can't hide from excitement! The atmosphere of a confined space and disturbing music only inspires more fear, which is undoubtedly good. It's a thriller! And the dark tones echo the shaking in the plane, visually looks good enough.
The film also raises many questions about security, social relations, personal space, trust, even political correctness.
It is very difficult to describe my thoughts, how much each of my words can contain a plot, and I do not want that. The film will go to fans of thrillers, because the intrigue is sustained, there are small flaws, but I had a wonderful time and enjoyed watching! What do you want! Short the night out!
Good evening, cats!
Do you know a lot of good thrillers? I want you to know one more thing today.
Today we will talk about the film “The Flight Illusion” (not to be confused with “The Deception Illusion”) of 2005 release. Starring the inimitable Jodie Foster ("Silence of the Lambs).
Foster plays the role of a woman who recently lost her husband and is now on a plane with her daughter to his funeral. Almost all of the film takes place on board the plane. I have always been impressed by such films, because in them you can completely focus on acting without being distracted by changing the environment. As far as that goes, Jodie Foster has done a brilliant job. A widowed woman suddenly lost her daughter. On board a flying plane. However. One can only imagine the whole range of feelings that the mother experienced at the same time - from mild anxiety to nervous breakdowns. But this is only the beginning, then the plot makes some very sharp turns, even turns by 180 ° C. The ending of the film was also very impressive. I do not want to go into details, otherwise it will not be interesting to watch.
As for the lead actor, Peter Sarsgaard, his performance was not absolutely impressive (if you know the films where he played, in your opinion, not bad – tell me about it, I will be grateful). I have nothing more to say about this. Sean Bean played the role of captain of the aircraft. Courageous, putting the safety of passengers and crew above all else - Bean was good.
In the end, we have a good thriller, with a twisted plot and great acting from Jodie Foster, for which I thank her very much. So if you, my dear friend, love movies like this, don’t even think about passing by!
And, I think, the main idea of this picture is that motherly love is sometimes a very terrible force.
Thank you very much.
Nowadays, filmmakers find it increasingly difficult to find fresh ideas for their paintings. In search of new plots, filmmakers shoveled all the world literature, comics, games. Anything where you can take a base. When that doesn’t help, it’s time for remakes and sequels. But some make it smarter and instead of a standard copy of an older work, take only the plot. It is trying to rethink history. Here and in this case, the classic tapes "Lady disappears" Alfred Hitchcock and "The Vanished Bunny Lake"Otto Preminger.
Director Robert Schwentke is a little known person, but he studied the work of more venerable directors of action films and skillfully adopted their style and handwriting. Yes, if you want, you could make a lot of claims in terms of script and direction, but not so often come out high-quality tense thrillers, and therefore we can consider this attempt a success.
The plot looks very intriguing. A child disappears on a plane. Her mother is searching. Nothing, except that no one saw the girl, and there is no evidence of her on board. In general, the bundle causes genuine interest. The picture is a chamber, psychological thriller with elements of a detective. There is also a dramatic part, not the strongest, but thanks to the acting skill the bar of quality holds. The atmosphere in the first half of the film is very tense, there is a strong suspense. However, the further the plot progresses, the level of anxiety begins to noticeably decrease. This is disappointing, since in the beginning the tape has a mystical connotation. This is a flaw for me.
There's a lot of pros in the movie. This is a beautiful camera work by Florian Ballhouse. Almost the entire film takes place in an enclosed space and this feeling of claustrophobia is very subtly conveyed visually. Well, the musical accompaniment of one of the greatest composers in the world James Horner, as always, perfectly conveys the mood of the tape. That's if the plot was more twisted made, and the final on the original, then a really cool movie would come out. Not bad, but for once.
Jodie Foster Such roles are not in the first. Something similar we saw in "Fear Room" David Fincher. That didn’t stop her from playing great again. Show off your dramatic talent again. Peter Sarsgaard is a very characteristic actor, but here he falls out of the general clip of the actors involved in the film. Sean Bean is presented in a small but noticeable role. But in fact, the whole film is a benefit Jodie Foster.
Illusion of flight a strong, psychological, dramatic thriller. Atmospheric and tense, but very uneven and slowing down in the second half of the film. Despite the shortcomings, the picture is a worthy representative of the genre. It does not bring anything new, but lovers should like it.
The film revolves around a female engineer who flies with her daughter on a plane from Germany to the United States for her husband’s funeral. In the flight, the main character falls asleep, and waking up, notices that her daughter has disappeared.
The first half of the film is intriguing. There are many questions that you want to know the answers and understand what is happening. Is the daughter of the main character an illusion or was she really kidnapped? If they were abducted, for what purpose, and if not, in what direction will the plot develop?
The answers to these questions you will learn immediately after a short circuit, arranged by the main character, on board a flying aircraft.
In the second half of the film, the logic of what is happening and the plot fly into the abyss. The main character behaves not as a strong person who, no matter what, is ready to find out the truth and save her daughter. She behaves like a distraught aunt, ready to arrange a plane crash, only to escape under the supervision of the air marshal. In the plot there are logical inconsistencies and holes of this size, through which the main character, as in the film “The Last Hero”, could get out and continue searching in your apartment.
In general, the film has an interesting concept, the director and writers simply did not have the talent to implement it properly. Without good cinematography and the acting of Jodie Foster, the film would have been a failure.
By viewing, I can advise only people who have their own children, the rest are unlikely to find something in it that can hook them.

It is difficult to write a review on a good thriller, the plot is so famously twisted that you are afraid that your thoughts will not lead to premature disclosure of secrets and secrets. But the film should not remain without a viewer, so I consider it my duty to say at least a few words about it.
First of all, I want to note the non-triviality and consistency of the plot. An ordinary plane, 400 passengers, including a mother and daughter, who are going through a bereavement. They take the body of the family’s suddenly deceased father to his parents in New York.
The flight takes place in normal mode, it would seem, nothing portends trouble, but suddenly the daughter of the main character disappears without a trace. Paradox! The entire crew, including the commander, was raised. Common sense which does not allow to believe that the child could disappear without a trace from the plane. But the main character is so convincing in her madness that the commander still gives the order to search the plane. And while the search is underway, a fax with strange information comes from the ground - the girl did not pass the registration, which means that she should not be on the plane.
But, as they say, the wrong one was attacked. The heroine is 100% convinced of its adequacy, but how to convince the rest? Who could have abducted the child, and most importantly for what purpose? While the desperate mother is trying to figure out the issues, the viewer gets acquainted with new characters who in one way or another may be involved in the deed. Or maybe it's just guesses formed under the pressure of delirium crazy?!
And these endless swings - believe, do not believe, suspect - remove suspicion, the heroine is crazy - no, not crazy - these same swings create such dynamics in the plot that, having gone through all sorts of scenarios in my head, I want to watch the film to the last ZTM, so that finally everything becomes clear!
The plot of the film is based on Alfred Hitchcock’s film The Lady Disappears. And those who are familiar with the work of this director know perfectly well that he is able to pull every nerve from the viewer. That proves again the words of the same Hitchcock – for a good film you need a good script.
The plane becomes a platform for confrontation between good and evil, truth and fiction, doubt and self-belief. The main character struggles to get to the truth. We can only see where her perseverance will lead or... still madness?!

What's wrong with flying? It can be blown up, stolen (well, throw snakes in the cabin). But the last thing you can think of is kidnapping a man, a little girl. Why would anyone kidnap a little girl on a plane? And that's the question each of these pictures asks themselves: passengers, staff, pilot. And everyone answers in the same way: no need. And if there is no need, then it was not, and no one saw her, and on board she is not listed as a passenger. But can a mother accept it and admit she's crazy when all the facts point to it, or will she start building conspiracy theories in her head and keep looking for it? Of course not, otherwise this movie would not have happened.
The movie keeps you on edge most of the time, but when it lets you go, you get frustrated and start asking a lot of questions: why? The film managed to hold us back with an interesting plot, good acting, real characters that you believed in, because you could put yourself in their place and say: Yes, in this situation I would behave as well. But then everything, except acting, disappears. The writers of the script managed to attract us, but they could not finish their business with dignity, the ending of the film spoils the impression of the whole picture.
But is it so bad that I can say it’s a bad movie? Nope. The film turned out to be interesting, intriguing, and thanks to the beautiful play of Jodie Foster it is pleasant to watch, but I still would not review it.

Kyle's husband is dead, and she and her daughter and coffin on board fly home to the United States. But during the flight, the impossible happens.
Great thriller! The case when the limited space did not fetter the creators in motion.
The whole action of the film takes place in an airplane, and by the word “action” I mean the most magnificent drama, an exciting thriller with elements of an action movie and one of the best intrigues in the history of cinema of this genre.
Acting is beyond praise, and could it have been otherwise with Jodie Foster at the helm? It was breathtaking from her play, I believed, doubted, believed and doubted again with her.
A wonderful plot, enough suspense and an indescribable atmosphere of horror. All this, together with excellent camera work, sound and editing, gives us a great film in its genre about the love of a mother, the influence of public opinion, depression and madness.
Incredibly exciting film. Such an interesting plot, colored with numerous emotions, experiences, not every movie can boast. From the very first minutes you will plunge into the atmosphere of this creation and will not be able to take off the screen until the story is completely over. Somewhere in the middle, the nerves will be so tense that you will want to rewind to the end and find out what is happening, but you need to make an effort.
This is the story of an ordinary woman who finds herself in an unusual situation. A woman who has a lot of problems. This is a story about struggle, strength and faith. What is it like to be one against all? When people try to prove to you that you are out of your mind, lock you up, tie you up, and no one believes you. In the air is the horror of a scared mother who is ready to do anything for her child. One against all. And every 5 minutes, you ask the question, “Can she win?” ?
If you’re thinking of watching this movie, don’t hesitate for a moment and turn it on. You may not have experienced such emotions yet. If you, having not yet looked, decide that you have already understood everything and foresee the outcome, believe me, you are mistaken.
I love movies like that. Thrillers in which events take place in a closed space, where the plot is not based on chases and fights, but on the psychology of the characters.
I don’t know why, but I didn’t watch this movie for a long time, despite the fact that I probably watched all the films in which the action takes place in airplanes (I love everything related to aviation). And finally, when I was looking for something similar to "Air Marshal", I came across this film.
I was expecting a banal thriller, but I was pleasantly surprised. The film is great, keeps in suspense, with a good plot and unexpected twists. Of course, there is a bit of banality in the film, for example, I did not understand what the main antagonist was counting on (if anyone explains in the message, thank you), and, as far as I am allowed to judge my knowledge in the field of aviation, the creators did a little too much with everything related to the aircraft and its, let’s say, device. The rest of the film is just gorgeous.
All the actors performed their roles brilliantly. Especially, of course, I want to praise Jodie Foster. It looks like it was written for her.
But the most important thing for me is that there was atmosphericity in the film. I was really worried about the heroes and the heroes. Due to this, the film looks in one breath, and each new plot twist directly surprises or frightens or delights. I really appreciate it when the creators manage to create this.
The only drawback of the film is that it is unlikely to want to review, because a second time such an effect is unlikely to produce many things. But in general, at least once it is worth seeing all connoisseurs of high-quality thrillers and atmospheric cinema.

What does not happen on the plane during the flight? And the terrorists capture him, and the air marshals rush over him in search of the criminal, and the snakes are transported. In general, there are enough adventures there that poor passengers sometimes remember it for life. A seemingly ordinary Berlin-New York flight turns into a rather dangerous action when Kyle Pratt boards it: a woman who recently lost her husband, and with her daughter carries his coffin home. But once she gets some sleep, her Julia disappears. Where? How? This is a plane and there are passengers around. Where could she be? And Kyle throws all his strength in search of her.
It all starts out quite intriguing, as in many similar movies. And in general, until the middle, the plot is kept quite stable on its feet. And it seemed to me that the whole story of my daughter's disappearance was just a fantasy of a heartbroken woman. This line will continue until the very end. Ahn no. Then there is a plot twist, which sharply puts everything upside down. And then everything begins to break: the degree of absurdity is gaining the height of the Boeing, and the logic goes down. I can not explain the claims towards the end of the plot, as spoilers, but those who carefully watch the movie will find them.
But there are no complaints to the actors, because Jodie Foster in the role of a mad mother looked just fine. Fear in her eyes, trying to prove she's not going crazy. The character turned out to be alive, and Jodie is not the first to play strong-willed women. It was a nice moment to see Shawn Bean, who convincingly played the pilot, who even to the end of the film remains alive, which is already great for Bean.
I can’t say that the movie was bad. Just a good idea in the future breaks down due to holes in the script, which spoils the overall impression. But Jodie Foster’s excellent performance and overall action keep you busy and keep you focused. It could have been better organized.
The focus is on a woman who survived the death of her husband. All she has left in her life is her six-year-old daughter. It is like the apple of an eye.
The situation unfolds on board a passenger airliner at the moment when the main character suddenly realizes that her daughter is missing. How cynical and cruel the story she was drawn into is something she will only find out later. And now she is facing the most important challenge of her life, and no one wants to help her.
The whole film, as a viewer, tormented me with doubts about how everything would turn out in the end, and who was behind it. It was difficult to guess the whole chain, managed to snatch only bits of guesswork. For the movie of this genre is a plus!
It is worth talking separately about the actors.
Jodie Foster was at the height of the whole film, showed a great game with great dedication! Sitting at home behind the screen, it was easy for me to believe that she would kill anyone who stood in her way to get her daughter back. In any situation, her game looked authentic and did not cause any doubt. She playfully made me doubt the health of her character's mind, and then she herself dispelled these doubts, proving it with facts and facial expressions. That's great! Sometimes Peter Sarsgaard helped her, but only a little. The rest could not come close to the level of skill.
Plot.
The main techniques used by writers and directors have their counterparts in many films of this genre, so do not expect explosive scenes, or even what you have not seen in the movies before. The work of the operator was not impressed, but there were definitely positive moments! For example, when Kyle was standing in an empty cabin opposite the flight attendant (we will not specify which one). The battle of views was well served. I will not go into more detail.
Visually everything looks gloomy, dark, the atmosphere, definitely, escalates the thriller. I have nothing more to say.
Conclusion: This picture remembers the cruel cynicism faced by the heroine, her courage and perseverance, her maternal instinct was very strong! If you’re looking for a good movie, here it is. Fans of strong detectives should not expect something grand.
I sat down to watch this film with a slight incredulity - rating 7.2, and the topic is pretty beaten - planes, hijackers. But I was wrong. The film kept me in suspense from the first minute to the end, I could not even distract myself. This movie surprised me, which has not happened in a long time. Maybe it’s the number of movies I’ve seen, maybe I’m just too picky, but the plot of the movies is usually not a mystery to me, I already know from the beginning of the film how it will end. But this one. I’ve been wondering what the truth of all the versions that appear in the process of viewing is. I am very glad that I finally experienced this feeling again, when I want to finally get on the Internet and find out - what is finally true?! I definitely recommend watching it.
Jodie Foster really lost her child, she doesn’t believe anyone, she knows exactly what is true. Although for a moment I even doubted it and believed what they say.
And more. Sometimes you wonder what will happen if one day you find yourself in this situation. Nothing. No one really cares about it.
The film liked the paranoid plot and selection in the column 'genre '. In fact, the film is not bad, it holds some tension, there are definitely tipping points. Up to a high-quality action movie does not reach, and a strong psychological thriller this picture can not be called, in particular, it will tell you everyone who has had the opportunity to watch ' Silence of the Lambs'. But the emphasis is on the fact that the whole world is saying: ' You must have gone crazy, there was no child' to which the main character does not react and continues to fight for the truth.
A great cast, in a way, has pushed this movie to a higher bar. I want to mention Jodie Foster, who was madly pleased in this picture and once again showed us her skill.
Overall, the movie was good, but I won’t watch it again. For viewing I advise all fans of paranoid thrillers, with a slight touch of drama. My assessment of the film:
Perhaps I will contribute my five cents and add a few lines to this wonderful thriller.
There are films, watching which creates a full sense of being in the center of everything that is happening, and the Illusion of Flight is just such a film. The film is so deep in itself that for a while you forget about yourself and your own problems. Initially, you look at the picture as a witness of all actions, as if you are near, in the very epicenter of events, but later it captures you completely and you suddenly realize that you are no longer a witness, but the most that neither is the main character, identifying yourself with him and asking questions:
What would I do in such a situation? What do I believe?
On the visual part of the film everything is fine, not a single detail escapes the eyes, just stunningly conveyed the atmosphere in the cabin of the aircraft.
The music is still very decent, the soundtracks create a very strong emotional background, up to goosebumps.
In this film, Jodie Foster opened up for me as a favorite actress, how much she gives to the role, it is impossible not to believe her, throughout the film I had the feeling that the situation is completely real.
“The Flight Illusion” is a very strong emotional thriller that is undoubtedly worthy of attention. The film gives a very interesting impression, in general, if you like goosebumps - look.
When pain is so severe that it cannot be endured, we deny it. We don't want to believe in reality. But we cannot go forward unless we accept what is, unless we survive it.

What a movie!!! The plot completely captures you and keeps you in suspense until the very end! You go into it with your head.
The script is great. Almost everything is thought out to the smallest detail. Only in my head are the questions: “Well, don’t you see?” And what about this? and immediately this is reflected in the frame and given a clear explanation.
And how Jodie Foster plays! Half of the movie sat with wet eyes! She can't help but worry! Before this film, she did not arouse interest in me, but now I will pay attention to the films with her participation!
Peter Sarsgaard also did a great job. I was delighted to see Sean Bean. The other actors are great too! Almost until the end of the film, you suspect everyone and build new versions of what happened.
And most importantly for me, the film is completely in line with my preferences. I love pictures that take place on a plane. And this masterpiece met my expectations and entered the list of “favorite films”.
For some, it seems like the whole thing is at the end. And when she's famous, the movie isn't that interesting anymore. But it's not! The picture itself deserves to be revised more than once. And I will! I think, with a new look, I will probably find something new for myself.
Jodie Foster: the woman who quickly figured it all out
This is a film about Jodie Foster missing a child on a plane. Her character will rush into a confined space, hysteria, refer to the rules and annoy the crew and passengers. She will claim that she has a missing child. Well, we're going to have a somewhat unexpected reincarnation of Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much," only the action will take place in the air and therefore seem a little absurd.
Jodie Foster's gonna be in court. Thanks to her fame, the film seems much more serious than it really is. Kidnapping a child in front of everyone is not a joke. But, alas, the recognized actress gives not the best work. In the elaboration of the image, she put on sharp tantrums, and probably true. Only now, these tantrums turned out to be very mediocre, false. There was no Katie Bates-like napalm. It can be seen that, due to the limited range, Foster could not cope with the task, and she did not go to a texture more appropriate to her temperament. But perhaps everything was worked out in the expectation of the ending, where our woman was forced to try on the decisive texture of John Wayne, turning the thriller into an actual Western. It is not for nothing that the courageous Sean Bean was lit up in the film. His courageous texture was necessary primarily to strengthen the contrast with the heroine Jodie.
However, the above circumstance does not significantly spoil the film. This is a watchable thriller, tough and interesting. It captures from the beginning and holds until the end. It is nice that Schwentke twisted typical for Hitchcock confrontation of the heroine with society (passengers), adding a completely seemingly optional detail - applause. It turned out great in the end - adults, instead of just offering an apology, shyly hid their eyes. And the biggest bonus I would give to the scene with the Arab, which in hysterics attacked the heroine. In an instant, the entire plane, which a second earlier had literally groaned from the obvious female neurosis, dramatically changed its attitude to what was happening. I probably don't need to tell you all the details of that scene, but it was really good. And, to a large extent, it was thanks to her, as well as the watchable narrative, that I overestimated my assessment a little. In truth, the whole denouement is not what is illogical - even some insolent. The whole combination was put in place. The details are clearly not on the side of the filmmakers. Honestly, I watched and directly imagined possible showdowns in terms of covering the damage that would have occurred after the end of all this extravaganza at the air carrier and the heroine.

A very good thriller, which for some reason I completely missed (and it went, it seems, unnoticed, in the lists and ratings I have not met him).
The heroine Jodie Foster lost her husband - he fell from the roof of their house and crashed. It's winter outside, very dull and empty. A woman collects apathetic child and suitcases, and is going to fly from Berlin to New York, to her parents, and carry a cargo of 200.
Kyle is all nervous, it is understandable, but actively keeps to avoid scaring the child. On the plane, she falls asleep and, waking up, does not find a child nearby. It is worth noting that the aircraft chosen is large, double-breasted, the size of half the airport and can accommodate up to 500 passengers and a mass of heavy cargo. And the heroine, by the way, is an aviation engineer, and is well versed in the design of the ship.
On all requests and requirements to look for a child, passengers and staff laugh off, they say, "Where can I go from a submarine?" Indeed, there are limited options, and then the question arises: was there a girl?
I don’t think anyone would be offended by my opinion that if the essence of the story was that a woman had glitches about a child, it wouldn’t be in the annotation of the film. But there is a lot of interesting here - despite the fact that the whole plot is promoted within the framework of one flying machine.
I recommend watching thrillers, and just tense films.
I probably won’t be impartial about this movie because I love Jodie Foster. I love it and I can't do anything about it. As Dima Malikov sings, I like you, I like you.
Any of her roles is a great dedication!Vysotsky sang on the rupture of the aorta, and Foster plays so that the ground from under his feet goes away.
The beginning of the film is very gloomy, in dark colors and you kind of don’t expect something extraordinary. But somewhere inside you understand that everything is not for nothing, there will be a twist, certainly will be. And the closer Robert Schwentke brings the viewer closer to the plane, the sharper you feel: the evening ceases to be languid. And then such an interesting situation plays out that, having fallen under the spell of Jodie, you ask yourself the question:
- Was there a boy?
In our case, a girl. Skillfully playing on the optic nerves, this cunning Schwentke, like Ivan Susanin or Moses leads, leads us by the nose. And you are not yourself, but before the denouement, as before Calvary.
She got on the plane alone or had a daughter with her. Maybe she's out of her mind after her husband's death, or maybe there's something even more meaningful here. Jodie Foster is a hard worker, and labor multiplied by talent is a combustible mixture. It's art. For an hour and a half of screen time, it's like you're a passenger on this plane that Jodie's the helmsman in. And you're not afraid at all, because you're in safe hands, not in male hands, but in female hands. As in Yevtushenko:
“May God grant the living to see Christ, not in the male, but in the female.”
After watching The Flying Illusion, you are reborn, despite its non-philosophical themes. This is my impression and aftertaste.
Cold and empty Berlin... Frost morning, foggy night, crowded airport, launched intrigue... Everything happens in the course of the plot and only with this you can start the film, not with the opening credits. It is strange that you can not immediately guess how this flight will end and when the main character will finally calm down and not panic. But for all the time watching, I moved away from this intrigue and did not look for answers, but composed questions. There is nothing shameful about them, only a certain interest and curiosity. Only I wonder what will happen next, and why so distort the quiet reality unusual transitions and confused situations, which are not quite successfully staged and, as it seems to me, completely change the film and its entire main idea.
Why go somewhere, or rather, fly when you do not know what awaits you the next day? It is this idea that the picture is saturated with, although it does not fully speak about it. I noticed a temporary upheaval, a distant portal, open only to a select few, but tightly covered with cardboard decorations and a colored artificial background, like a trap. Has the heroine fallen into this trap or is she going further to the goal, so they are trying to stop or intimidate her? Was the heroine intimidated by the abduction of her daughter, does she hope that she can still find and protect her?
I believe that the heroine of Jodie Foster coped with such a difficult ordeal, passing through this “artificial” time and thereby embellishing his image.
Directing did not impress me very much, as if each shot was either very fast or annoyed with its painful slowness. And everything was scantily, scantily stretched to the very end, to the nearest denouement. Everybody!
Flight's over! Please unbutton your seat belts and leave your seats!
Nothing brilliant happened, none of the heroes betrayed themselves, just performed the tasks indicated in black font in the script and only. The film went like a flight, a regular scheduled flight, about which the whole truth!
Ordinary flight to nowhere!
A high-quality thriller gives a good dose of adrenaline for a few days ahead. The dynamics of Flight Illusions are amazing! Judy Foster's character is under tremendous pressure. You bet! When everyone thinks she's crazy, doubts creep into your head. It was interesting to watch the flight attendants play. I couldn't figure out who the rat was.
It often happens that when you watch movies with characters of female heroes, strong, brave, courageous, but beautiful and fragile at the same time, you get the feeling that this is all a fairy tale. No, of course, in life and not meet, but to play a strong woman in the film is difficult. Here men's tricks in the style of "I'm cool pepper came out with a bazooka" are not suitable. You need to show a strong soul, a core, first of all. Foster is a master at it.
I wouldn’t say it’s a one-view movie, knowing the truth is it’s fun to watch the characters.
Jodie Foster has rightfully earned the title of Queen of Thrillers after the tremendous success of the immortal Silence of the Lambs. The actress, like her colleague in the genre of thrillers Michael Douglas, can one of his presence in the frame raise the degree of tension to the highest level. And this quality is often used by directors of various statuses. But in Foster’s career, there are no really passing films, and the Hollywood debut of the German director Robert Schwentke was a real box office hit, which first of all bribed the viewer with the participation of Jodie Foster, but continued the triumphant march around the world screens thanks to the intriguing plot and competently confusing details.
The story of the film finds us in winter Berlin, where airliner designer Kyle Pratt (Foster) mourns the tragic death of his husband. Unable to stay in the gloomy city with his 6-year-old daughter Julia (Marlene Lawston), Kyle decides to return to his homeland in New York and bury her husband’s body there. Choosing the most grandiose of modern airliners, Kyle with a clear conscience allowed himself to sleep a little during the flight, because the safety of passengers here is elevated, it would seem, to the absolute. What a surprise she was when her daughter disappeared. And even more intriguing is the statement of the flight attendant that she has never seen a girl next to the heroine, and Julia is also not listed in the hiking lists. The survey of passengers also gave no results and the heroine is looked at as crazy. Unable to contain his anger and desire to find his daughter, Kyle puts the whole plane on his ears, which attracts the attention of Carson's security officer (Peter Skarsgaard). He, in turn, involves the investigation of the crew commander Rich (Sean Bean), who, although suspects the heroine of insanity, can not refuse to search. However, when the crew is unable to find Julia in an enclosed space at an altitude of several kilometers, the only question becomes important for the viewer - all these are hallucinations of a heartbroken woman or someone's perverse game.
In The Flight Illusion, the entire focus of the plot is on the investigation of the missing girl. The piquancy of the story gives a limited place of action. But the picture still does not look like a claustrophobic thriller, because the airliner just amazes us with its giant size. And this is only a plus, because the heroes will find quite a lot of space for plot action. The director skillfully inflates an alarming atmosphere, but at the same time more and more confuses the cards. Closer to the middle, the viewer himself begins to doubt the mental state of the heroine Foster, but at the same time begins to suspect both Carson and Rich, because their categorical skepticism about what is happening, as well as imaginary (or not – who has how) compassion simply cannot but arouse suspicions. The only thing that slightly reduces the intrigue is the final explanation of all events. But there is no escape, because the story must be told to the end. And since the genre of the picture excludes mysticism, it would be very difficult for writers to come up with a truly extraordinary denouement. And despite the somewhat trivial finale, "The Flight Illusion" still looks at a high level.
Of course, Schwentke's film is a benefit to Jodie Foster, but the plot plays a huge role here. And it is in its denouement that the problem lurks, because when you watch it again, the degree of expectations decreases somewhat. But nevertheless, I consider “The Flight Illusion” a rather strong thriller and, despite minor shortcomings, I will still give him the highest score.

One component of a good thriller is usually the limited space in which the action takes place. In this sense, the board of a passenger airliner is very suitable for pumping the necessary atmosphere.
This film belongs to the category of paintings that did not make a deep impression on me, but which I review from time to time. We must pay tribute to the writers who managed to create a real intrigue, relevant right up to the last scenes. The main character performed by the eminent Jodie Foster boards the plane with her daughter, but after a brief sleep can not find a child. Moreover, no one has seen and can confirm the woman’s statement that she was not alone on board. I believe that here very clearly verified the attitude that should develop in the viewer to what is happening. There is no atmosphere of doom here, although in a certain sense the film affects the mood. My first review was to find out the line between truth and fiction. Doubts that arise, then fade, and maintain interest throughout the viewing.
An important feature of such films is the ability of the film crew to convey a confined space at height. This is where we did it. Although the film does not boast an immersive atmosphere, you believe that the events unfold not just among the studio scenery, but in the air. Separately, I would like to note two excellent men’s games from Sean Bean and Peter Sarsgaard.

Omitting the first episodes with a not quite clear story, interest wakes up with the heroine Jodie Foster, when she, taking a nap, did not find her daughter sitting next to her. It becomes clear that due to the recent tragedy, she is prone to visions, the beginning of which can be indicated by the scene at the airport. But the girl was safely found there.
Here it is much more difficult - and the more interesting to the viewer. The tension was felt all the time. Given Kaylie’s penchant for fantasy and the aircraft she knows how to make, these two factors were so mixed up for me that I doubted to the very end whether there was a daughter. If it's confirmed there was one check-in at Kaylee Airport. This is a great argument against the mother’s instinct.
And when the heroine begins to analyze the current delicate situation, the originally shown line with the deceased husband makes sense - guesses come to mind, was everything planned in advance?
The picture itself looks quite easy and not long - we can say, in one breath. Because the action takes place on board a huge liner. Fortunately, Kayleigh is related to aviation, and quickly determined what levers (in the literal sense of the word) to press.
The film appears not only as an adventure action movie with a clouded consciousness and distrust of everyone. And also as a thriller, showing a fine line between a firm belief in one’s rightness and the impossible, but existing, to be an erroneous error. In other words, in such a deadlock, Kaylie did not lose faith, nor did she lose what was dear to her.
I think I have been successfully selected for the role of the main character Jodie Foster. She is no stranger to playing strong, courageous women and mothers. Kaley has an unprecedented sense of confidence. And the actress was able to show it.
I assume that not all actions committed on board the aircraft are true in real life. I do not dare to judge the rules of navigation, the crew and the commander, who allegedly did everything possible. It seems unlikely and the conspiracy itself, or rather, how it was quickly turned. In fact, we were shown one villain, Carson, who initially showed an interest in our heroine. And his partner, stewardess Stephanie, but her role was negligible. Surely there are other accomplices, on or off the plane, who remain unnamed. However, this did not affect the idea of the film. The most important thing is the relationship of the closest people. Such feelings are powerful and important like nothing else.
