It is impossible, perhaps, to give a bad rating to a film in which the wonderful actress Jodie Foster plays. Of the many action films and thrillers about airplanes – where the human fear of flying is exploited in different ways – I liked this film because, at least in the first half, you hope for a realistic ending – namely the impossible. That is, the fact that the end will not be in the style of Hollywood and that the film is not about flight, but about loss.
It is clear that cinema is dynamic. According to the rules of the script, there should be a "cool turn" every two minutes - and, unfortunately, this film slides to ordinary Hollywood standards, especially at the end. So nothing new in terms of approach to film production and script writing, this picture showed. An unexpected ending? Close to life story? Nothing like that. It's all Hollywood. Although, of course, the old run-in schemes with some minor changes in the plot are given to Hollywood as cool, and this film is no exception.
Luxury plane, oppressive atmosphere, wonderful actors, good production of Berlin scenes, suspense, color scheme, just staging scenes in itself, natural, without notes, the work of the operator ... Everything is simply gorgeous - but this is not enough with a huge number of such good movies.
The film is about the love of parents for their children. It’s about love within families. I am grateful to Jodie Foster for so authentically conveying the feelings of a man who loses his loved one, especially a missing person. Such a game helps to believe that you are not alone and, in general, gives hope not only for entertainment, but also for a therapeutic effect. But! Alas.
Reality remains with the viewer, and Hollywood fiction with Jodie, so perhaps this film will not get into the circle of the best. But you can’t call it boring.
It feels like that. I will not return to this movie, one view is enough.
