Despite the fact that I try to avoid various interpretations of great works due to their utter absurdity, this film, based on the story of my favorite writer Robert Louis Stevenson, made a very pleasant impression on me.
The idea of changing the composition of the main characters of the Suicide Club fell to my liking. Instead of Prince Florisel, the central face of the film is Henry Joyce, who turns to the club as he can't come to terms with the loss of his beloved wife. I liked this idea more than the main idea of the novel, because, in my opinion, the desire for the death of a person who has lost the meaning of his life, his suffering and the struggle with injustice look much more interesting than the story of the adventure seeker of the titled person. But despite the dramatic changes in the plot, many little things, to my pleasant surprise, remained the same as they were invented by the author of the work Stevenson.
All actors, from the main actors to those who played in the episodes, were selected flawlessly.
I express special gratitude to the creators of the picture for the stunning atmosphere of England, gloomy, but at the same time attractive, which could not be recreated in our domestic adaptations.
The music played in the film perfectly complements the style of the picture.
