The sequel of a great action movie immediately throws partners in the criminal affairs of Los Angeles. From fire to fire! The initial scene of the chase connects the petty bad guys with the main crime boss, who skillfully hides behind the protection of the embassy. Mel Gibson has already revealed himself in the first film to add more action, harassment and ghosts to the sequel. The drug mafia dominates the city, and healthy policemen cannot approach from the side of the law. Hence the turn-based game develops: Glover's move, the villain's move, Gibson's move, the villain's move. It looks unpredictable.
The picture contains more violence and dynamics. How do you get close to a criminal with diplomatic immunity? Look for small pawns, couriers, dealers - all the connecting links of the criminal chain. One of those people is Joe Pesci. It's a great addition to the sequel. Joe is not just a small and cowardly courier, but after the image in “Good Guys” and “Casino” such a reorganization is delightful. Chris Columbus also thought of inviting Joe to Home Alone.
The picture leads detectives on the dangerous trail of criminals. In addition to the criminal investigation and shootings, director Richard Donner adds sensuality, loyalty between partners. These are no longer opposite sides of one investigation, they are loyal and close people. From a funny but understandable condom ad to Glover's house to a bomb. Heroes value each other and stay together. It goes well with age and the status of detectives. Danny Glover with old, entrenched investigative techniques, who first weighs the pros and cons, considers feasibility and risks, and then builds a plan of action. Mel Gibson is still the same daredevil, takes the main blows, rushes into the abyss of danger, only to achieve results.
Mel Gibson is now in every action movie he's been invited to. Mostly low-budget projects, as long as the actor collected his bag of money and was happy, but at the peak of his career, when Mad Max died out, and Gibson had not yet realized himself as a director, everything looked energetic, brutal, pleasant and nostalgic. Nostalgia for “old, good” action movies, where risks, sacrifices, catastrophes reduce the good guys to all manifestations of evil. The "Lethal Weapon" sequel also pits Mel against the past, revealing him not as a "bad" cop, but as someone who has had a trauma in life.
In addition, drama and bereavement visit this time period to show what a person with a desire for revenge and justice can do. Law or justice? Honor or virtue? Gibson answers questions immediately. But the key is that “good cop” Glover passes his arc of development in order to do justice in the final. As for Joe Pesci, this is a beautiful character who diluted the strict attitude of the partners. In the end, a great sequel to a good action movie.
The second “Lethal Weapon” was released at the time when the dawn of the militants began. The success of "Die Hard" spoke about this too eloquently, so in place of "Richard Donner" everyone would run to shoot a sequel.
But although the favorite theme of good and bad cops again makes the audience happy, we must admit that the main shortcomings of the first part have not gone away. Again, the most interesting thing happens at the end, the main part of the plot looks cut, and Mel Gibson still goes overboard with humor. Every time Riggs behaves in a deadly (literally) situation as if he is performing in a circus or voicing a stupid cartoon, the viewer has a dissonance: why laugh if just a peaceful minor police officer in the background almost died? The comedy is clearly not about Gibson.
Much more sympathy is caused by Danny Glover, as noble and law-abiding as before. The sequel raises a rather slippery (especially now) theme of racism associated at that time with South Africa, but the characters’ types almost unchanged repeat the original – a villainous organization with bosses of two levels, a “lady in trouble” and several victims from the secondary cast. To be fair, it is worth noting the twist with one household instrument, as well as a more complete disclosure of Riggs' backstory, but some moments with active actions lose credibility, sometimes perceived as a real cartoon. In addition, the main villain looks excessively pretentious. But there is a very sensitive bed scene. It is a shame that it is shown in the dark.
Yes, this is still the movie that pleases us with the victory of good over evil, but in comparison with the first part and other militants, the number of sores in the eyes has increased slightly.

Having managed to cope with corrupt police officers and other criminal elements under jazz motives in Richard Donner’s Lethal Weapon, detectives Martin Riggs and Joseph Murtaf became one of the most popular action heroes of the 80s. The box office of the film pleasantly pleased all participants in the process, and no one even doubted that the second part would soon be released. Richard Donner took up directing again, and Mel Gibson and Danny Glover were also not left idle.
This time around, Riggs and Murtafu will be caught up in an international scandal because their opponents are diplomats from South Africa who have come to America to trade underground diamonds, drugs and other illegal operations. Diplomats act in a way that is easier to confuse with the mafia. But they have cherished documents that protect against unwanted interference by law enforcement agencies. When did that stop Riggs?
The second part was at the level of the first, only with a lower level of tragedy. Riggs finally changed his mind about killing himself and was able to reveal himself in all his glory. Mel Gibson plays a real deadly weapon with a charming smile and jokes that make it impossible not to laugh. But the film is not a comedy, but a cool action movie.
In the close company of Gibson and Glover, Joe Pesci got involved. His hero is an outspoken swindler, but he really wants to help detectives, because of which they have to constantly endure a new “partner”. However, this is only for the best, because Pesci is a great refresher of the plot.
I really like the second lethal weapon. The sequel certainly turned out not worse than the original, and in some ways even better. Richard Donner made a classic that definitely deserves attention.

After the unexpected success of the first part of "Lethal Weapon", it was simply not necessary to doubt the continuation of the adventures of the Riggs cops-partners and Rozhder and now two years later the world saw this crazy couple again.
The first thing I would like to note is that all of our favorite policemen are Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaf. Riggs still does crazy things and antics, and madness shines in his eyes, and Roger still laments his age, repeating the same phrase "I'm old for this shit!" and trying to behave prudently. The only thing that seems to have changed is the troubles they are getting into again. Although not... See their fate is to run forever on drug dealers, various mafiosi, triads and others.
In addition to the main characters, I want to highlight the fact that the film was shot in the same vein as the first and if you watch both films as they say in a volley, you may not notice any special difference in the quality of the films. That sounds like a hell of a cool effect to me. Simply put, you feel the same mood of the film, the same atmosphere and so on, due to which the narrative is poured with one key. It is clear that such an effect was obtained due to one time layer in which the film was shot and those ways of presenting the material, its implementation and opportunities that were in the distant 80s, but it is because of me that I probably love the franchise "Lethal Weapon".
By the way, it is worth saying that the difference between the first film and the second is still there and it lies in the action. Here it is many times more, which of course cannot but please the eye. While watching, it feels like the franchise is growing in terms of scale and technical capabilities, while still maintaining its core values and messages. Simply put, the old did not forget anything and did not lose at the same time gaining much new and useful.
I just couldn’t help but mention the introduction of a new character in the franchise who was destined to stay here for a long time. We are talking about "Leo Gets" perfectly performed by "Joe Pesci". This seemingly small role turned the whole "Lethal Weapon" over! Joe Pesci is so inimitable in his new image that you just marvel at his limitless talent. This small, overly chatty and restless character simply cannot help but cause smiles. It perfectly dilutes the serious atmosphere of the film, even in the most tense places. And the attitude of our main characters to him and their constant pranks over him? It is beyond praise.
In general, we really have a strong continuation of the cult film, which in turn has already become a cult!

"Lethal Weapon" is a unique film cycle. Each of its subsequent parts is not only not inferior to the original, but also in many ways complements the original story with new details, giving the franchise more and more bright colors, refreshing and deepening it. Having created a real cult in 1987, the producer Joel Silver and the director Richard Donner decided not to delay the release of the sequel and after 2 years the triumphal Lethal Weapon 2" with the unchanged and Danny Glover For the script this time in addition to Shane Black was responsible Warren Murphy, as well as one of the creators of the third "Indiana Jones", Jeffrey Boom. But if you take in general, the sequel returned to the whole team of the original film, because, as they say, the horses on the crossing do not change and it would be foolish to change something in the proven formula of success. But Lethal Weapon 2 still brings us some surprises that I mentioned at the beginning of the review. And the main of them is the participation in the filming of the extraordinary Joe Pesci, famous for his roles in the gangster films of Martin Scorsese and the Christmas dilogy Home Alone.
So, this time the plot brings together a brave police duo in the face of the unstoppable Martin Riggs (Gibson) and Roger Murt (Glover) with the South American mafia, which hides under the protection of diplomatic immunity. Villains are running money laundering deals in Los Angeles, as well as drug trafficking and smuggling. For many years, the bandits led by Consul Rudd (Joss Ekland) managed to fool law enforcement agencies around a finger, but the stupid oversight of one of the militants leads to the trail of unscrupulous representatives of the South African Embassy of our old police friends. And we know very well that neither Riggs nor Murta will stop until the villains are either put behind bars or shot. However, Rudd and the company are not going to back down. Thus, Los Angeles illuminates a real war, in which the police badge no longer guarantees security.
What distinguishes "Lethal Weapon" from many similar in concept films is the surprisingly easy presentation of material. Richard Donner’s picture, despite all the drama of the police investigation and dozens of victims among both bad and good guys, manages to fly in one breath and entertain hilariously. An important role in this is played by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, who composed the best detective film duo of all time, skin colors and peoples. and this is not an exaggeration - this is already quite a fact. It is quite natural that the script simply had to develop the storylines of both Riggs and Murt, so that we get to know them as closely as possible and practically consider them our friends. The first film largely played on the tragedy of the character Mel Gibson, who is killed because of the tragic death of his wife. In the second film, Richard Donner and the company decide to minimize the anguish of the protagonist, and at the same time finally close the story of Victoria Lynn, linking her death to the activities of the South African mafia. So it would be a matter of honor for Riggs to stop the villains. Even at the cost of your own life. In addition, the plot introduces the passion of the detective, the charming secretary of the South African Embassy Rick Van Den Haas performed by Patsy Kanzet. So the plot does not stagnate, but simply throws us more and more details, not forgetting to entertain, without rolling the story into a farce. For the latter, Leo Goetz will be more responsible in the performance of the fervent Joe Pesci. According to the plot, his hero, a former mafia accountant, should be under the tutelage of the duo Riggs and Murt, but knowing the role of Pesci, it is not difficult to guess that he will literally follow his new friends, investigating with them cruel crimes and simply annoying them with his endless conversations. Leo Getz was a real find for the franchise and it is gratifying that Richard Donner and Joel Silver decided to leave the hero in the game until the franchise is over.
As for Danny Glover, he, as before, is not in the shadow of his star colleague Gibson, and receives a lot of bright episodes proving that his character got into the “Lethal Weapon” is not accidental. As in the original film, the villains once again decide to act through threats to the Murt family. Of course, such a circumstance should cause us a storm of indignation, but Richard Donner, thanks to such a plot move, introduces one of the most memorable episodes into the film - the scene with the mining of the toilet on which Murta sits! Tragic and comedy have never been so closely intertwined. And what is the hilarious infiltration of black Murt in the Embassy of South Africa, whose government at the turn of the 80-90s pursued a brutal policy of apartheid? All in all, there will be plenty of drama and comedy in Lethal Weapon 2. And most importantly, the picture will not tire at all.
In conclusion, Lethal Weapon 2 is a remarkable sequel to the original film. The creators managed not only not to lower the artistic bar of the project, but even to raise it. The box office success of Lethal Weapon 2 was quite natural, and therefore it is no wonder that the dilogy soon turned into a trilogy, and then into a tetralogy. So I suggest going back to the recent past and once again enjoy watching the franchise, which has become the best police movie series of all time. Enjoy your visit!
It is a common occurrence, and in very frequent cases a rule of cinematography, that a sequel is always weaker than the original, and in this case history has few exceptions to such a statement. Definitely, one can count this film of veteran Richard Donner, which not only turned out to be no worse than the original tape, but in a sense even better.
The film almost from the very first frames immerses the viewer in a rapid chase and thus literally says that the time to take a breath from what is happening on the screen when watching the picture will be extremely small. Otherwise, the film develops in the best traditions of sequelization. Thus, demonstrating a greater amount of spectacle in the face of numerous chases, fights, shootouts and other action scenes, from which just breathtaking. Whether it’s a hell of a scene of house destruction on stilts, or an absurd scene with a bombed toilet.
The main advantage of such scenes is that even in action scenes, Donner approaches them with a considerable sense of humor, which allows you not only to watch spectacular scenes with a fading heart, but also a sincere smile from a successful joke or a funny moment. Thus, putting this film much higher than modern blockbusters, which, although they have acquired a much larger scale of the spectacle, but still lose the absolute emptiness behind it and projecting on the screen a surprisingly concentrated symbiosis of spectacular spectacle and sparkling humor.
The film is very holistic and literally saturated with an indescribable atmosphere, which allows you to watch both action scenes and ordinary dialogue moments with great and equal pleasure. That is why even with a not so outstanding plot, the story still catches and to a greater extent entertains a really good sense of humor, which is repeatedly found in the picture both within individual jokes and funny gag moments.
The tandem of the main characters performed by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover still pulls the main strap of attention on itself and once again allows you to enjoy not only the best roles in the career of each of the actors, but also really carbon monoxide chemistry between their characters. What only complements all the same virtuoso musical design, which gave the picture its immutable composer Michael Kamen with the help of Eric Clapton.

Lethal Weapon 2 is one of the most striking refutations of the stereotype that the sequel is always much weaker than the original. Since this film by Donner proves that if you want, you can enter the same river twice and do it perhaps even more successfully.
" - Well, come on, say yes. Everyone says no, and be original! The battle scenes lost their realism, but became much more spectacular. Heroes have not only to shoot and fight – Riggs, for example, in the Berserker heat will suddenly invent a new way of instant demolition of buildings. There is no longer such a cutting eye division of the film into a dramatic introduction and the action itself. But a certain dissonance in the film is felt, although it is more difficult to catch. The fact is that by making the film both funny and serious to the point of tragedy, the creators of Lethal Weapon 2 left these layers unmixed. There is no real tragicomedy here. A typical police comedy - in itself, a typical pompous action movie - in itself. Comic and serious scenes are clearly alternated. It seems to be one movie, and the intersection points are zero. But this does not spoil the film, which looks, as they say, in one breath. I’m glad the director didn’t stop there. All the ideas of the first film in the second are perfected. Great action movie and witty comedy with charismatic heroes. 9 out of 10 Original
Accidentally stumbling upon a large consignment of gold coins illegally brought to the States, Detectives Riggs and Murtaugh track down a high-ranking official from the South African consulate who, hiding behind diplomatic immunity, is engaged in drug smuggling. But in addition to the main investigation, the partners must protect an important witness who once helped the mafia launder dirty money.
“Faster, higher, stronger” is the motto of the Olympic Games around the world, authored by the French preacher Henri Didon. It seems that these words and their meaning have been adopted by Hollywood producers, who seem to love the crunch of dollar bills of great dignity more than anything in the world. It’s no secret: Hollywood is a business, a way to make money on the preferences and interests of the ordinary public. It has always been and always will be. That's just the approach of the former and modern Hollywood is radically different: then the producers adhered to professionalism literally in everything, trying to do the work, as they say, "on conscience"; now at "Dream Factory" everything is put on stream, primarily guided by the principle "take quantity, not quality". Meanwhile, as the long-term practice of film production shows, in order to release a truly successful film franchise, you need little: it is enough to simply attract the authors of a successful original source to the creation of continuation tapes (which the heads of the studio did, again inviting Richard Donner), because the change of director with rare exceptions benefited any film series. After many years, it became obvious: the cohesion and permanentness of the film crew largely determined the success of all 4 parts of “Lethal Weapon”.
Almost every sequel tries to adhere to the above words of Henri Didon and did not pass this principle of continuation of “Lethal Weapon”. The second film really came out much more spectacular, dynamic and funny than its predecessor. But despite the involvement of the same persons in the shooting of both films, the films turned out to be shot in completely different keys. If the first film can be considered a full-fledged police action movie with a clear detective intrigue and, thanks to the few skirmishes between the main characters, a rather conditional comedy component, the sequel is already a comedy action movie, literally stuffed with jokes, jokes of heroes and non-standard comic situations. Moreover, the bias in comedy is visible to the naked eye and literally from the first seconds (although dramatic notes here too were not enough). The dynamics have increased significantly and the plot develops faster, because the writers no longer need to acquaint the viewer with the characters. And again, we are spoiled again with a whole galaxy of spectacular and original scenes: an unexpected fall into the pool from the window; balancing on the bumper of a rushing car; a mined toilet; the destruction of a house on stilts; the explosion of a falling Mercedes full of money.
In fact, for all the humor in the film is responsible for one character: Leo Goetz is an accountant and part-time main witness of the prosecution, hypersocial, constantly waving his hands like a windmill and constantly repeating like a parrot. The long-nosed short man who crossed the path of the mafia and is constantly being silenced by the main characters (even literally) is laughing with his texture alone. He brilliantly embodied on the screen Joe Pesci, the real luck of casting specialists. However, this applies only to the sequel, since the hero Pesha is one of the main figures of the narrative and it is around him that the plot revolves, but in subsequent films of the cycle he will look frankly superfluous. And here it is worth noting: comedy did not benefit the successor – because of humor, the second film lost its former psychological depth, lost a certain amount of brutality and lost the element of fatality previously caused by Riggs’ reluctance to live. The picture simply acquired a frivolous color. And there are questions to the script: if the events layered on each other consistently and logically in the original source, one scene naturally replaced another in accordance with the rhythm of the detective investigation, then there is a slight confusion and chaoticness, even artificiality, and some episodes look superfluous.
As for the central duo, only Riggs has undergone certain changes. He is still reckless, emotionally unstable and does not like to obey, but his former anger and thirst for death have gone, he has stopped drinking and even acquired romantic interest in the face of a pretty beauty with a charming look performed by Patsy Kenzit. There is a new move with an injured shoulder, which later will save his life more than once. And without "five minutes of retirement." Roger Murtaugh is still loyal to the system and cautious in everything. In the end, the main characters became even closer and closer to the viewer, and the film itself continues to sing the theme of male friendship, mutual assistance, unity and unity of the human spirit, for whom the fact of blood kinship is far from mandatory.
Result: It is traditionally assumed that the sequel can not surpass the original. In this case, this statement is only partially true: yes, the second film turned out to be confused and less realistic, but more spectacular and large-scale. In any case, the second tape of the cycle managed not to drop the bar set by the original. It’s a great continuation of a great movie.
It would be foolish to think that the phenomenally successful action movie Lethal Weapon would be left without a sequel. No longer risking capital, Donner and Silver launched a sequel, which came out 2 years after the first film and became a natural and full-fledged blockbuster. For 2 years, people not only did not forget the brave guys - good-natured homebody Murtaugh and violently crazy Riggs, but also really fell in love with them. For 2 years, people watched their adventures on video, and by the time the second film was released, the fan base of Lethal Weapons had doubled!
"Lethal Weapon 2" - on the one hand, the repetition of the passed with a certain reinsurance - as if something superfluous and "wrong" not to give. The first film showed us where to go. The second was to turn the path into a road - so it is logically the most - and spectacular chases, and bone fights, and dizzyingly dangerous situations with explosions and shooting, and irony, and verbal skirmishes. Villains have become even more powerful, jokes more daring, and heroes are completely native. The need to acquaint the viewer with them disappeared, so it was possible to focus on their relationship, full, on the one hand, claims to each other and incessant minor conflicts, on the other - sincere sympathy, growing into the strongest male friendship, which happens only in the face of mortal danger.
Gibson and Glover are all over here. Glover pretends to sigh and break, pretending to be a gray-haired old man, but we see and feel that the plume of danger that Riggs drags behind him, he likes. Moreover, it is in this cycle of danger that Murto feels really needed, alive. Of course, if Murtaugh hadn’t grumbled, there wouldn’t have been a plot, so in all the other parts he continues his line, even though it’s already clear that he’s really in love with his dangerous job. Gibson continues to growl and radiate the saliva of rabies, barely anything goes wrong as he thought, wrecking everything in his path after that that that your Terminator. However, the creators of the picture decided that one psychotrauma Riggs is not enough and added him to the load another as an unexpectedly arisen and then untimely murdered blonde beauty, with whom he fell in love. On the one hand, it made Riggs a little more human, showing that he is quite capable of breaking out of the web of his own loneliness. On the other hand, it is this lyrical line that is the most imperfect in the film, and looks clearly far-fetched - only so that Riggs has a reason to rampage again, breaking through to the target with the tenacity of the tank. But after all, with the advent of family happiness, the hero of Gibson would risk softening, and the creators of the picture could not allow it. In this light, very sorry Patsy Kenzit, perfect in all respects, which, alas, was sacrificed for the sake of another final benefit Gibson in the style of “rage”. Too sweet and beautiful for a character like Riggs, she really was a threat to the integrity of subsequent sequels - to leave Gibson himself, he either had to be left unhappy (and this could not last forever), or give him someone more manly and beating, so that Gibson did not have to become a kind of hero Glover for the sake of family happiness.
Despite the problems with the romantic line and ignorance of what to ultimately reduce the film - and the producers and the director seriously thought to make this part of the final: according to the first version of the script, Riggs, who lost his second love, died the death of the brave (and the entire film appears in this direction), these small inconsistencies do not notice the frantic pace of the action movie played out in the classical scheme, but therefore no less charming action movie. There is an amazing chemistry between the actors, between the actors and the director, apparently - a complete understanding, the guys are happy to joke and "revenge" the "serious" directors who do not pay attention to them, the director does not allow sagging and inhibition in the narrative, captivating the viewer so much that 2 hours allocated for the film seem to be ten minutes.
And then there is the crazy hero Joe Pesci, a kind of funny “red” to two “serious” clowns – Harlequin and Piero. However, Pesci was still tested for lice, obviously not releasing to the fore and assessing the reaction of the public to the new hero. The reaction was enthusiastic and bore Leo Goetz became a full-fledged “third superfluous”, in the third part appearing already as a veteran of abusive affairs.
Evaluating the game of villains does not make sense. In action films, the antagonist is rarely allowed liberties - even the heroes of the brilliant director Donner are obliged to live in the "black and white" world so that the viewer can clearly navigate this world, associate himself with certain heroes and not allow a shadow of sympathy for villains.
Despite the bravado and fun, a bunch of exploits and a flying toilet, Donner did not miss the opportunity to make a grim joke about the new fashion in American cinema - after all, the film was shot at the dawn of political correctness. There has never been such a strong attraction to socially significant topics in American cinema as in the 80s. And Donner, in a completely parody way, showed the problems of segregation, discrimination and racism, setting these problems in the background for such a powerful friendship between black and white guys that the problems somehow resolve themselves - as at the hands of Kashpirovsky.
Is it better or worse than the first movie? Probably, he is not as slender as the first and not so elegant, probably he is already infected with the “supermanence virus”, which destroyed even such wonderful franchises as “Die Hard” and “Rambo”, but still he is insanely good! Donner proved that he is perfectly able to make sequels, almost not inferior to the original, and that defies explanation – will repeat his success twice more! Gibson and Glover proved that the success of their pair in the first part was not an accident, and that they are threatened by the fame of the mythical duo, and Joe Pesci – that he is a brilliant character actor, capable of striking such different facets of his talent, to equally well play the frightening killer in the Casino and funny short man Leo Getz.
To award this film with some epithets, such as “genius”, “masterpiece”, etc., is completely meaningless. It's just a great movie that people love. And the point here is not in nostalgia - a chair made on conscience will last more than a dozen years, although it will probably not be as soft as newfangled chairs. And "Lethal Weapon 2", made on conscience militant - strong as that chair and charming like Glover's smile, can serve for many more years, striking with its time resistance, easily defeating the most modern militants. The audience around the world reacted to it accordingly - the fees "SM2" did brilliant, and this is not the consequences of a crazy advertising campaign - this is an open-hearted expression of audience affection.
I've been thinking about retirement since I met you!
Brave Detectives Riggs and Murdot are back! And this time, they have an even more dangerous adversary: drug dealers who, under the guise of diplomatic immunity, commit robbery, murder and kidnapping on the streets of Los Angeles. Only criminals go too far when they declare war on the police, and now diplomatic immunity will not save them when two brave partners go to war.
By good tradition, commercially successful films shot in Hollywood, as a rule, get a sequel, or even two. Not bypassed this fate and "Lethal Weapon". That’s only according to the same good tradition, the continuations in most cases are much worse than the original, and there are not so many exceptions to this rule. Fortunately, this sad fate bypassed this film and before the viewer there is a sequel, which can be safely put on a par with the first film, as a sample of a good action movie. But let's be fine.
For starters, actors. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover do not leave their roles for a minute, and their characters have not changed at all, and only overgrown with details for the second part. For example, Detective Riggs became a kind of Houdini, as he is able to get out of a straitjacket, which will repeatedly save his life. Also under the influence of his partner, the hero Gibson changed his mind to say goodbye to life, only he remained the same suicide who constantly climbs under bullets. But that's why we love Riggs, isn't it? As for the hero of Glover, he remained an old grumpy who adheres to the rule that the best way is bypassing. He’s too old for all that shit. Also the cast was joined by the inimitable Joe Pesci, who in this film got the role of financial fraudster Leo Goetz and whom detectives Riggs and Murtaugh should protect well. And yes, from criminals, the brave detectives protect the valuable witness, but who will protect poor Getz from Riggs and Murtaugh? And it is the hero of Pesha that the film owes a shocking share of humor and comic situations. And do not forget the antagonists, who in the film are given a fairly decent amount of screen time. The first of them is a diplomat from South Africa, Argen Rath, played by Joss Eckland, who is completely confident in his diplomatic immunity, and therefore almost openly says: say, yes, I am a criminal, but you will not do anything to me. And the descent from the actor's face expression of contempt for all living things causes the desire to grab a gun and discharge the entire clip in Mr. Rath's face. The second exhibit is Peter Worsdet, whom Riggs usually gave the nickname - "Adolf". So, the hero of Derrick O’Connor presents to the audience a professional killer: elusive, ruthless and heartless. And he, like his boss, is remembered for a long time.
Now for the plot. The screenwriter decided to beat all the cliches that the viewer could see in the movies about cops, but they were beaten so well that they do not even perceive them as worn-out plot moves, but rather it seems to be an interesting and well-worked story than in fact it is. There is everything here, and cop killers, and protection of a valuable witness, and a love line and a friendly police fraternity. In general, everything that the viewer loves movies about policemen is present here in full, and none of this seems superfluous or far-fetched. The creators of modern militants have a lot to learn from these guys.
As for the musical accompaniment, it remained at the level of the first part, that is, blues motifs that are interrupted by songs that have long become classics and loved by millions will also please the viewer throughout the film.
The operator has honed his skills since the first part, and his play of light and shadow is very expensive to see, and the action scenes are filmed at all.
So what's the end result? And in the end, we have one of the best sequels to a successful film that took everything that was in the first part and improved it. There is great humor, and wonderful dialogue, and exciting action scenes, and the actors do play above all praise. So if you want to have a great time, lethal weapons 2 will be perfect for this purpose.

Rigs and Murtaugh are back in business. This time, they investigate a case involving South African ambassadors, meet the obsessive Leo Getsem, and the case will become too personal for Rigs.
The second part of “Lethal Weapon” came out a bit ambiguous. When you watch it, you seem to look at it with the same ease as the first, but it does not cause the same warm feelings. Richard Donner added a bit of gloom to the second part. For Mel Gibson's hero, this part of the franchise is the darkest. Here he is avenging both his wife and his new girlfriend. And in those moments you feel very sorry for him. Denny Glover's death hasn't changed. He's still a cop complaining about life. Unless Rigs got less screaming. The character of Joe Pesci turned out to be very comical and perfectly fits into the picture. The action has become more, but it is not so much remembered as in the first part. The humour is much better. There are more memorable jokes and moments.
Verdict: a very good continuation of the original, which brings a lot of new things.

Lethal weapons. Volume 2 or Diplomatic Inviolability
Los Angeles, City of Dreams, a city where brilliance and poverty meet. Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh, now not only partners, but also friends, will find out in full when they have to fight the drug mafia, hiding behind diplomatic immunity.
Lethal Weapon 2 was released exactly two years after the release of the first film and, although the second part was not such a huge success, the film was a great continuation of a well-known story. In this part of the film, a new character appears, who was brilliantly played by Joe Pesci, creating a bright and funny character. Very memorable are the heroine of Patsy Kensit, thanks to which a thoughtful love affair appears in the picture, and the heroes of Joss Oakland and Derrick O, Connor, who played ruthless villains. The duet of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover is still on top, so the viewer will enjoy the excellent performance of the actors.
The plot of this film is entertaining, interesting and keeps the viewer in suspense in anticipation of the final.
All action scenes shot by Stephen Goldblatt even more ambitious, bright and exciting, in the film there is no unnecessary passing scene.
I recommend this beautiful police action movie to all true fans of the genre and movie lovers of the 80s.

The first part of “Lethal Weapon” was very successful, both commercially and creatively, and so it was safe to expect a sequel soon. It was released two years after the first part and was on the same level as the previous film.
This time, the killer couple got back together. Danny Glover and Mel Gibson played the role of two avid police officers, who are still actively fighting crime. Danny and Mel played their characters very well again. Again, you can see the comic duo that we saw in the first part.
The new face in Lethal Weapons was Joe Pesci. He is small, but he wants to please everyone. Definitely a funny hero. Joe Pesci performed it in his signature style and did it well.
This time our heroes will have to fight against diplomats who will hide behind their immunity. But can that stop Martin and Roger?
“Lethal Weapon 2” certainly succeeded. The film surpassed the success of the first film at the box office. This tape turned out to be a very good action movie with a lot of humor. It was as interesting to watch as the previous film. This picture turned out to be a very worthy continuation of the first part.
I hate diplomats... A great sequel to the film about two police officers. Everything remained on top, mind-blowing chases, crazy shooting, a lot of humor, bright personalities, all this keeps the film in full tension. Mel Gibson is still the same tough, crazy cop when something is taken from him, revenge is the only thing that keeps him in this life. Over Danny Glover this time pretty bullied in his own house, then tied, then from the toilet asked not to go out. They have become great friends, each is ready to give his life for the other, and they will do anything to achieve their goal. A striking addition to the film character Joe Pesci, he anneals as much as he can, a lot of humor on him, look and fall. Richard Donner holds the brand perfectly, the film is very cool, not inferior to the first part. Cinema completely keeps in suspense, a great way to relax and get a lot of fun from watching. Original
