A group of absolutely disgusting pigs (call them teenagers, fire them) drink at a club. One of the piglets gets a bottle on his brainless head. The pigs leave the club and all go together to some wilderness. Yeah, yeah, downtown. The French (suddenly!) thought it was a very noble ground for horror. Why shoot in the city when there is a village? All right.
Pig boys arrive at the cabin where Vincent Cassel meets them. And then, my dear friends, the real provocation begins (no, not a horror movie). Director Kim Shapiron was well aware that he did not have enough experience for a cool horror. And he made his movie a damn sick atmosphere. Forgetting Satan will be hard!
He always had a bad attitude towards French horror films (except for a few pictures). And Satan only increases my hatred. Let's close the topic with Cassel. He’s a good friend, that’s his problem. If the actor had sent three letters (at least 50 percent of his friends), there would have been no Satan in his filmography. Of course, it is interesting to play in horror, but he left this genre (quickly, as he got into it). Satan did not give the actor anything. A talented actor, let me remind you.
Putting his hand on his heart, Cassel doesn't even play here, but plays a fool. He's crooked, overplaying. And no one will tell him anything. The director is a friend (with Shapiron he played in the short film Little Beard), and all the other actors are a gray faceless mass that only yells at the camera. There are no terrible moments at all, but there will be plenty of abominations.
Here are the stories about the female genitals during arousal. It's the caresses of dog genitalia. This is where incest comes in. That is, the director Shapiron does not stop at anything, and at the end slides into a hollow thrash. We are French, we can do anything. To forgive such a thing would be worth only in one case, if the film would be good.
Provocation cannot be carried out because there is nothing behind it. Provocation is not a movie. And the film is that we have degenerates and perverts living in a big city. They celebrate Christmas with Satan and drink milk from the boob of a goat (the boob will be shown on the whole screen, of course). I was willing to forgive that and show conflict. Where is he?
Think of the movie Frontier. A similar situation. Bad guys end up with even more disgusting degenerates. Only in the Border does human rage flash. There's resistance. Yes, through one heroine, but that was enough. Remember, the heroine of Karina Testa combs her hair, you'll be with us, you're such a beautiful, new member of the family. She listens to everything and still cannot accept them. That's the conflict. She understands, yes, I am bad, but these are the same things!
Satan’s people do not believe that they are evil. They are normal among degenerates, perverts, etc. And even when one of the heroes resents that he was pulled from his head a clove of hair with blood (think about it). Nothing's going on. After a while, he is already trying to arrange group sex with a friend and an abnormal girl. You might say the Border Test is on its own and this one is in the company of friends. So look at these friends. They're not sorry, absolutely. From the Border, from the mud, through all this dust, a woman’s cry burst out! Director Jeans was able to find his way out. Director Shapiron, no. Why? When you can put a funny mustache on a friend and wait for the coming of Satan. Goodbye!
P.S.
Monica Belluchi is shown on TV in the ninth minute of the film.

Strange movie. I liked it, but I can’t tell you why. First of all, the genre confusion is confusing - if it is a horror movie, it was not at all scary, and as if they were not going to scare anyone. If we are talking about black comedy, then there is also complete calm, although the moronic expression of Cassel’s face cannot help but smile, but the black humor here is clearly not enough.
Let the genre picture is not clearly defined, but the plot, or rather its core, is quite competent. Perversion, domestic violence, is cleverly hidden under a template layer of primitive mysticism. Thanks to the rich atmosphericity, which is only growing and a small hint of saspiens (this is quite enough), the viewer is ready to believe all this nonsense, especially the local marginals are so abnormal that this readiness is quite justified. But the most interesting, as well as important, is that not everything is so obvious, so each viewer will formulate his opinion on what he saw, and someone will not like it at all.
Heated audience interest and acting. Of course, the central star is Cassel, who works out his fee to the full, so look at his curves is a pleasure. But the youth also did not fail, did not go to the background, and was able to contrast their talent to the master of French cinema. In general, when it comes to all sorts of eccentrics, the actors have at least plenty of work, so even secondary characters did not fall out of the overall clip.
I will recommend the film for viewing, but this is clearly not a masterpiece, but a very tolerable thriller, competently flirting with the viewer, who will definitely not be bored.
From the creators of the Maginot Line and lovers of chewing frogs on an empty stomach. Citizens, whose tanks are like cardboards, easily fold and hide in their pockets, citizens who do not know how to talk about politics and endlessly miss the goal. But they do brilliant things in cinema. French horror is something special, you can safely take a thesis, the material will be a car and a small cart.
As a child, I considered the Book of Shadows legendary, at one time sticking out from the Borders and Martyrs (the latter gave the impression of the October Revolution). "Shaitan" caught the eye completely by accident, and it was not in Vincent Cassel, who plays normal people is strictly contraindicated. It is a rather trivial plot, and absolutely fierce timekeeping. There is wild expressionism on the screen. The film balances on the delicate verge of bullying and sadism, sophisticating in both technical and artistic forms.
At the same time, despite the completely insane plot, quite well-registered characters run around the screen, each of which manages to moderately open up and show all its content. Towards the end, the author clearly swallowed pills, long considered the legendary picture of Munch, then shook up the whole “cocktail” in his brain and gave a conceptual finale, in which for lovers of psychedelia there is absolutely everything.
A little masterpiece I was glad to meet.
Time has shown that French cinema, as well as projects shot in Hollywood, arouses a lot of interest among viewers. And it is unlikely that it will ever cease to be relevant, no matter what genre a particular project belongs to. Hollywood has long learned to stamp youth horror stories about how another company of young boys and girls, holding liters of alcohol, go to some wilderness, an old abandoned house or in the woods to have fun. And the ending of almost all such parties is the same. As for French cinema, there are not many projects on this topic. This is the film "Shaitan" directed by Kim Shapran.
The plot here is the same as most American tapes. Three guys and one girl leave the party and go to the house of Eva, whom they met at the club. The way to her house is not close. After spending a whole night in a driving car, during the day they meet on their way a very strange watchman Joseph (Vincent Cassel), as he introduced them to Eva. Upon arrival at the final destination, they get acquainted with the local population, which includes people not the most pleasant appearance. Seeing the places where Joseph leads the guys, you begin to wind up the options of who will die first, who will survive, and who will be killed in what way, because Hollywood for several years adheres to the nauseous scheme, which is boring to many and most viewers have repeatedly seen this development of the plot. Once, in the end, the young people think that having fun, they will sooner or later go home. But strange Joseph has his own plans for this whole situation.
Vincent Cassel does not usually look like a half-mad and constantly smiling watchman Joseph. Once again you are convinced of the acting skills of Cassel, seeing how well he copes with another role. Beginning with the acquaintance of Joseph with the guys, for a long time it is difficult to understand what to expect from this guy. Defiant behavior and perseverance betray a kind of rural resident who spent his whole life on the farm. And while in the house, he threatens his wife not to leave her room. Young actors such as Olivier Berthelemy, Nico Le Fat Tan, Laj Lee also behave naturally in the frame and look confident. You can easily believe them.
But what is detrimental to the film is the frankly sagging dialogue in many moments, when the characters, for lack of phrases, just laugh and smile. It looks ridiculous. Although it may seem that this is rather due to the awkward situation, but if we proceed from how most of the characters behave during the film, then there can be no question of shyness on their part. Closer to the finals, there will be an opportunity to cheer up a little, because there will be motorcycle chases, violent fights and hallucinations that seem to hint at a happy ending. And, at some point, it seems that everything that happened is just another dream of one of the guys, but after a few minutes everything will become clear.

From the first shot, you are warned what you are going to do when you decide to watch this film. Guys who want something pop like Friday the 13th are clearly not here, although the typical horror description may attract them. But the description is misleading.
Okay. A club, drunken young people, Christmas and a beautiful girl inviting to her mansion to continue the party - what could be better? Well, yeah, a little weird gardener for a girl, and everything in this house is weird, but it's okay when you're so young and fun, ready for adventure. And they certainly will.
The movie looks pretty easy. There are no boring moments, always a beautiful and bright picture with its unique atmosphere, 80% of which is created by the character of Vincent Cassel - gardener Joseph. Funny, scary, beautiful and disgusting - it's all about him. And Joseph's wife is good.
The filmer does not pull to “fear” but to “laugh” quite, because this is a real black comedy. The rating is deprived, because there are a lot of specific moments here - the whole film is one of them! This makes it so “not for everyone”, but it is no less qualitative.
I think every movie connoisseur should definitely look at this.

All of the above except for the last one are not great. What is 8 or 10 out of 10, troll?
The film is a rare drug addiction, on the amateur to turn, as they say, khm-khm, non-standard.
The behavior of the guys is really plausible, but the plot itself is not very much. And the stupid laughs of some personalities at first, of course, deliver, but then they begin to strain.
Those who want to lay bricks here will break down completely, but sometimes you can beat. In general, the film is not worth the candle.

Have you heard that it is said, “Do not commit adultery”? According to Ivan Vyrypaev, most individuals, having reached puberty, lose all ability to hear. Whether the music in headphones is to blame, the availability of alcohol and other substances that distort young consciousness or banal hormones is not so important. The important thing is that their eyes are filled with lust. He who looks at a woman with lust does not want to fill her, but only wants to devastate himself. And there, nature will take its course, and, obeying ancient magical rituals, a woman will suck you out without a trace. A banal seed for youth horror. Banal and insanely vital.
For his full-length directorial debut, Kim Shapiron chose a rather trivial concept. Take a group of students overflowing with lust, place them in a weird (read "infernal") house with no less eccentric inhabitants, season everything with legends turned inside out, mix Christian symbols with Muslim interpretations and pretty fertilize with slightly nauseating details a la naturel, with a mandatory goat udder on the whole screen and female genitals lined with meat delicacies of varying degrees of smokedness. Troma's talking penis is far away, but the direction is right. Mix, shake, drink in a volley and eat a cocktail umbrella under a friendly slur. And then it doesn't matter. Boys will spy on the girls, manic Vincent Cassel with a devilish smile to watch the boys, everyone will look forward to the punishment of heaven, which should take place before an impromptu Christmas and, of course, separate the grain from the chaff.
Alas, Satan suffers from a common disease for the debut full-length tapes. The narrator is given an hour and a half of screen time, but the whole story takes an hour. As a result, instead of a dynamic, blind-black youth comedy, mixed with sex and violence with a taste of frightening plausibility of the unforgettable Blair Witch, we get a slow-paced horror film with imaginary endings that will not drive even the most naive viewer into a dead end. The fake story sticks out. The country house is unforgivably small for universal evil, so the plot pauses have to be diluted with simple dialogues, reducing to the eternal adolescent dilemma: who and in what sequence will tear the cherished sinful fruit. It's annoying enough fast enough that all the guys look obvious outsiders on a life party. I don’t want to sympathize with anyone, because they know what they are doing, and therefore they will be asked in full. Only a fierce visual performance, in which ugliness is combined with calm beauty, makes the viewer reach the final credits.
All that remains for poor and lost children is to prostrate before the baby. Let love into your blind heart in the hope of receiving God’s forgiveness and the grace of an innocent smile. Do not see the kingdom of heaven as your own ears.
