The crew of the film club "Ku!" bought food, occupied the office computer and for more than two hours immersed in the atmosphere of flights and aviation - in the highest sense of the word.
To begin with, I watched the remake with Danila-Svet-Kozlovsky - quite a pass, in my opinion. I didn’t really remember anything from that remake: someone flies somewhere, something explodes, Kozlovsky makes a serious face and saves the world. I looked and forgot.
At the same time, excerpts from the original Crew I somehow snatched here and there - and knew that for a serious part this is not a disaster film, but a family drama about people.
Well, here's an interesting point. In fact, we have two films, separated for convincing credits. The first series of The Crew is a drama, the second is a disaster film. And if I did not know about the motive of the second, I would be quite stunned, watching the first one - because behind the credits the narrative changes dramatically, all the accents are rearranged, and we get well, well, not the movie that we watched the first hour with a little.
Therefore, I think it would be reasonable to consider each series separately - and then embrace them with a general impression.
Episode 1. We have several pilots, each with its own history and complexities. One of them is a cute guy who married a bitch. The second is a womanizer and a bean, subconsciously looking for, as usual, one that will abandon him herself. The third is a tough tough guy who has almost left his job, but is too in love with the profession to be left with a cold nose. Each of the lines is detailed, emotional and catchy - you do not want to boil one for the next. This is a straight strong independent film - about how brave pilots have a hard time under the clouds, not above them. Valentine's line is, of course, a separate pain, so I haven't had a burn since 'The Scam'. Well, because of how infernal Valentine’s wife, sometimes does not believe in Valentine himself – he too calmly and complacently perceives everything; and in his situation, even a stone statue would drink or run to the end of the world.
Episode 2. I can only imagine what the second series of The Crew looked like in the late eighties. Probably, before him, the Soviet viewer did not really see anything like this - and the impression can be comparable to how they watched, say, 30 years later, 2012. Yes, today the special effects look, of course, almost no - but who will turn the tongue to reproach the authors for this? For those years it was done very convincingly, many today with millions of budgets withdraw no better. The dramaturgy of the disaster itself is strong, but it is also standard (although there were probably no firm standards at the time). Heroes are, in fact, ordinary people (to understand this, the first series is needed) - placed in specific circumstances. I was surprised by the painful realism - in the remake, passengers from plane to plane jumped like acrobats, but here it is not, everything is serious: even if you wrap yourself in toe loops, gloves will have to be cut off along with the skin. That is, the heroes are hurt and afraid, they, again, ordinary people - but the more striking their actions look.
A general impression. The Crew is not one big movie, but a kind of diptych in which the two elements are radically different from each other. I remember the place under the pines, although there is a triptych. The actors are expected to play brilliantly, Filatov is a legend and Belmondo. At the exit, the viewer has a difficult impression - in a good way complex precisely because of the heterogeneity of the material. Separately perceive the first series, separately the second, the impressions are mixed into a kind of “cocktail” – which then you can take a long time to disassemble into components, think, analyze.
Powerful movie. You know what?
A wonderful film - 'Crew '! It so happened that I watched it a long time ago, as a child, but I remember only one episode - the provision of medical care to the second pilot Nenarokov. Scenes of saving people from the heat, and then from a terrible plane crash, of course, hit the nerves. Afterwards, like flight attendant Tamara, I want to hug the plane and cry. Fortunately, such terrible events are extremely rare. But tragedies that occur in the normal life of crew members, happen all the time. Flight engineer Skvortsov stupidly allows you to stay at home offended ex and almost loses Tamara forever (and in fact could, like Kostik from ' Pokrovskie Gate', cut off all ties). Commander Timchenko does not rest even on the ground and continues to be responsible for his adult daughter, for the granddaughter of his old comrade, for everything and everyone. Is it any wonder that the discharge after the hardest flight finally undermines his health? His wings are literally cut off, condemning him to a slow death. But most of the sympathy is caused by the Nenaroks. Having moved from an international airliner to a regional helicopter for the sake of his beloved wife, he lives in hell of constant tantrums and nagging. Married him because of the vanity of Alevtin, suffers herself, offends her husband and breaks down on her young son. The scene of the divorce with an attempt to slander Nenarokov looks especially monstrous. We can't see his tears, but he's crying. I just can't believe how you can mock such a nice person. And how could that be now? But the action of the film takes place only forty years ago.
The film ' The Crew' is a true school of life. In the sky, a pilot, like a sapper, only makes a mistake once. But even on the ground, a mistake can lead to disaster.
The film is about the specifics of the work of civil aviation pilots: high-paid, dusty and, in general, not so much that it is puzzlingly difficult - except for the risk of formation of a suddenly completely abnormal situation, from which it is necessary to immediately find the best way out (and not the fact that it will be saving, including for passengers - prone to a heap of rapid transition to a state of panic). The life of the crew is shown from two sides. The first series is family-household: one hero has a wife who is hysterical and a soul-thrower; another hero who relates to family values alternatively, in his spare time professionally seduces young Soviet citizens, inexperienced in foreign life, slides with photos of foreign countries ... in general, pilots are also people. Almost the entire second series is a feat: dedication and loyalty to duty against the background of a natural and man-made disaster with an unfolding earth and an avalanche of fire. The success of the film after its appearance was huge - Soviet cinemas did not indulge in the genre of the disaster film. To date, minus a couple of memorable episodes, notable in this film, perhaps a little.
For a long time, the crew was on the list of Soviet films that I had to watch. I have heard many opinions about him, from enthusiastic to contradictory. And now, after watching it, I declare - one of the best films of Soviet cinema!
In the center of the plot - the crew of the passenger aircraft of Aeroflot. The crew commander Andrey Timchenko is an experienced pilot who is afraid that he will be written off every time he passes the medical examination. In addition, the daughter-student reports her pregnancy outside of marriage. Co-pilot Valentin Nenarokov tries to save the family and raise his son, but he is constantly hindered by his hysterical wife. Flight engineer Igor Skvortsov - a womanizer who never thought about a serious relationship, starts an affair with a flight attendant Tamara, which already almost grows into love, but is shattered due to one of the former Skvortsov. However, work is work, and when the crew is tasked with evacuating the residents of the town of oil workers in the midst of an earthquake, they fly to the rescue, knowing full well that they may not return. . .
Recently, I noticed that in Soviet films I began to like dramas more (previously they were comedies). Involuntarily compared to the way they are shown in Hollywood - we have everything completely different. It’s easier and more complicated, less emotional, more truth. The crew is divided into two series, where the first is devoted to the social problems of the main characters. I was amazed by what I saw on the screen – to be honest, I didn’t think such problems had ever occurred in the Soviet Union (or were very well concealed). But the way they were presented – everything seems so ordinary and natural, such problems can happen to anyone. And this is a great merit of the director Alexander Mitta and his vision. By the way, that famous scene of erotic content (for the first time in Soviet cinema) seemed to me very sensual and tender - because you pay attention to the action, and it talked about feelings and relationships. It was very intimate and beautiful. . .
The crew was also the first Soviet disaster film. Impressive that so reliably and qualitatively managed to show a natural cataclysm, and how people are trying to escape from it. In this case, take off by plane from a gradually collapsing runway. And then eliminate a serious breakdown of the aircraft already in the air. Needless to say, we are incredibly worried about the heroes of the film, who are trying to cope with the situation without losing their heads and concentration, because in their hands the lives of passengers, and they are responsible for them.
And yet the main thing in the film is the cast. Once again I admire the talent of our Soviet artists. Georgi Zhyonov, who played the role of the crew commander Timchenko from the first shots, gave the impression of a man determined, strict, confident in everything, who does not show his emotions openly. His character is best revealed in scenes with his daughter, who refuses to marry the father of her child, and also with Tamara, whom he considers his duty to care for. And of course, during that flight, I was struck by how the hero’s state was transmitted: sweat hail, but in his eyes confidence, his voice is firm, and in response to the flight attendant’s tantrums, he calmly asks for a coffee. . .
The co-pilot of the crew is a talented pilot Valentin Nenarokov (Anatoly Vasilyev), who at one time left big aviation for the sake of his family, but now suffers from tantrums and scandals of his wife, which also negatively affect his young son, whom Valentin loves with all his heart. Yet it was his story that shocked me the most - a lot of thoughts arose about his behavior and the behavior of his wife, a very difficult and very realistic life situation. . .
Flight engineer of the crew Igor Skvortsov (Leonid Filatov) is a charming womanizer with many mistresses with whom he has already established a scheme of seduction, with whom he openly talks about his intentions not to start a serious relationship and never to marry, but to live freely and emancipated. And everything changes when he starts an affair with the beautiful stewardess Tamara (Alexandra Yakovlev), who wanted to become an actress, but dreams were not destined to come true. Amazing game, genuine emotions and exciting feelings of the heroes. . .
"Alexander Mitta's crew was the first in many ways and it will remain a legend of Soviet cinema, one of the best Soviet films I've seen in my life."

On the eve of a quick view of the acclaimed remake, I found to my surprise and regret that I did not know the original.
The plane with staff and passengers goes on another flight, which for many turns into tragic circumstances.
I have heard many times that this is the first Soviet disaster film. And I'm glad that before viewing the modern version, I got acquainted with the original. The film made an indelible impression on me. In addition to the events related to the disaster itself, there are many other strengths in the picture. Separately, I want to note the dramatic component. Many moments from the film for a long time cut into my memory and touched a lot in my soul. Nenarokov’s divorce from his wife, his last conversation with his son and ex-wife at the pier, Skvortsov’s spat with Tamara – these shots can not be viewed without something wobbling inside. An important role in this is played, respectively, by the actors themselves, showing their unsurpassed works memorable characters with fully revealed characters. It is a pity that many actors are no longer alive. When writing a review of Soviet and Russian films of the past years, I rarely ignore the atmosphere, interior and locations of the time in which the film was shot. While watching such films, I am glad that at least so I can be back in that time, visit Soviet apartments, walk through the streets that have now changed beyond recognition, see the fashion of that time, visit Skvortsov’s apartment and check out color music. In the picture “Crew” there are no specially created giant models, everything is real, and it bribes. It is worth paying tribute to the creators of the catastrophic events taking place in the film, at that time it was really a breakthrough and a reason for the pride of domestic viewers. And not only because of the effects, but also for the courage and courage of our compatriots, who risked their health and lives, saving other people.
I haven’t seen a modern version of Crew yet and I don’t want to talk about it until I see it, but it’s going to be a different movie for me. "The Crew" 1979 is a unique original.
I always watch the film with great interest for several reasons. First of all, this is an incredibly spectacular disaster film. This is despite the fact that in those years when it was created, there was no computer graphics. Everything we see on the screen was created in the studio. Just the minds of Soviet cinematographers and the authors of such films were ahead of their era ... Secondly, it was in the film "Crew" for the first time in the country were filmed and shown (not cut) footage of an incredibly beautiful bed scene. Everything was veiled so skillfully that there is nothing to complain about. Looking at it gives great pleasure, although nothing “such” was not filmed, but produced a stunning effect. And the main reason is, in my opinion, the cast.
Leonid Filatov, who played the hero-lover and conqueror of women's hearts, is incredibly good. Alexander Yakovlev just wonderful, she is not really beautiful and fantastically sexy in this film. I think that it was after the film "Crew" it was recognized as a sex symbol. From such beauty look can not be taken away.Anatoly Vasiliev, who played one of the main roles - good in every sense. I've always admired his talent.
The play of literally all the actors was magnificent, as vitally, naturally they played, causing a sense of empathy and belonging to what was happening. At its core, the film directed by Alexander Mitta, shot at the film studio Mosfilm, is unique, since it is shot in two genres at once - Melodramas and catastrophes. But that, in my opinion, is not the main thing. The main thing, I think, is that despite the fact that the film was shot at the height of the Cold War, there is almost no politics in it. No one stigmatizes belligerent imperialism and blames “the insidious hand of the West” for all the troubles.
Moreover, it is perfectly shown how prosperous the Soviet flight engineer Igor Skvortsov (L. Filatov), leads a promiscuous lifestyle, and young Soviet women willingly go to bed with him, counting on his money in the future. In this aspect of the film’s storyline, the true face of Soviet morality is perfectly shown. We, the citizens of the Soviet Union, have always been taught the idea that marriage of convenience is unthinkable in the USSR. And what about the action of Alevtina (I. Akulov), a Soviet provincial woman who married a Moscow pilot and did not feel any feelings for him? All actions Alevtina are the actions of a real predator, ready for any betrayal in order to achieve their selfish goals.
It is difficult to single out one person in this legendary picture. Remember how even the roles of the second or third plan are played there – memorable, so different and so “familiar” at the same time! But I'll do the trick. One discovery I made for myself and not even in childhood, much later ... George Zhyonov! As a child, it seemed to me that a real Artist, this is a play, reincarnation and only! As I grew older I realized that this is also a special inner force, what is now called “charisma”! It was George Stepanovich Zhyonov who proved and showed me this phenomenon. His character in "Crew" is verbose, does not use facial expressions to enhance the effect and even stingy in movements. But when you look into his eyes, you realize what a great work of heart and soul this man has done. Such a volcano of passions and experiences inside that "breaking out" sometimes through a glance or gesture - strikes to the depths of the soul! In my opinion, this is the highest skill and special talent!
The movie is incredibly good. I think that we have created few paintings that could compete with the film "Crew". I always watch it as if it were the first time.
The musical design of the film deserves separate applause. The man, his heroic character traits in the peak moments of confrontation of the situation and in the usual everyday life - everything shows the character of the characters of the film. Responsibility for people who depend on the actions of the crew of the aircraft in a terrible environment of natural disaster, love, resentment, betrayal - the whole range of human feelings is clearly shown in the film.
After watching this movie, you realize that no Hollywood with its computer effects can compare with our cinema. In this, as in many Soviet films, the focus is not on the catastrophe, but on the feelings of a person, on what he will do to save himself and others from death. Therefore, "The Crew" is not just a disaster film. This is a real psychological drama that unites people before a common disaster.
I strongly recommend watching as a brilliant picture, each frame in which is expensive!

Today, while talking about aviation and real men, I decided to reconsider the very real one. “The Crew” and voice the main problem of this century: our cinema is almost dead. And the “Crew”, which was re-shot and released in 2016, only another confirmation of this.
In the distant 79th in 2 hours managed to immerse, reveal the story of each main character, all characters, arrange a disaster and save everyone.
Real men really stayed in Soviet cinema, on those old Mosfilm Babinas, on which they save, empathize, love, even break hearts, and then courageously and of course remain heroes.
Not a minute too much time, not a shot too long. Everything is in its place. And this is the level and this is Mitta.
Watch the classics, show it to children, do not forget what a Man is and how to remain one.
In 1979, the Soviet audience first saw the domestic blockbuster, and even today it is impossible to ironize and downplay it. “The Crew” is a disaster film that has become a revelation for us and retains its emotional charge almost 40 years after its release.
The secret of Alexander Mitta’s approach, in my opinion, is the combination of high for its time technological and timeless humanity shown. Behind the story about the liner, the earthquake and the tail that fell off on landing, we open up a whole world of human destinies, experiences, everyday problems and life tragedies. This wreath of intertwined lines of fate fits into the simple word "crew" - a story about each of them, connected by the common work and confined space of the aircraft.
The story, divided into 2 parts, introduces us to the story of each of the heroes: crew commander Timchenko (George Zhzhenov), co-pilot Nenarokov (Anatoly Vasiliev), flight engineer Skvortsov (Leonid Filatov), flight attendant Tamara (Alexander Yakovlev). All of them are connected not only by service, but also by invisible strong personal ties, so that from one action another inevitably follows, and causes and effects follow each other. Naturally, this is reflected in the relationship, which becomes the second front of the film: along with the problems of technical heroes need to solve no less tense interpersonal, which means that heroism must be shown not only in dramatic scenery, but also in everyday bustle.
In the second part of the film, where passions are heated to the limit and even raging lava does not eclipse them, there is less talk and everyday life, but more actions: spontaneous, lightning-fast, sometimes contradictory, but in no case indecisive. Each of the heroes turns out to be a real hero in his place, and the extreme situation in this case shows the best that is in each: the composure of the commander, the reliability of the co-pilot, the determination of the flight engineer and the endless mercy of the flight attendant. But it is the previous immersion in the world of each of them that gives us the opportunity to feel the drama of the situation. And the final scene, in which each of these crew found some peace after a difficult ordeal, is so warm and understandable that it seems to us that we are present in it and feel our belonging.
Analyzing the Crew, trying to understand what attracts us to it, you understand that the skill of the director lies in the perfect balance of disaster and drama, technical and sensual in the film. He exists harmoniously in two genres, never exaggerating either of them, which is why there is such an aftertaste, as if all this happened if not with you, then with your friends.
Alexander Mitta achieved the same harmony in the creation of the cast, in which, in addition to the above artists, Irina Akulova (Alya), Ekaterina Vasilyeva (Anyuta), Maria Skvortsova (Nenarokova’s mother-in-law) brilliantly performed their roles. Each image is so reliable that artists for a long time could not get rid of the plume of associations.
The Crew, which received the wrong sequel or remake in 2016, will forever remain the story that courage is the privilege of ordinary people, not heroes of steel. Human weaknesses are natural and understandable, it’s all about whether you let them control you at a moment of fate. As Mikhail Zhvanetsky says, courage is the product of fear.
This film was the first disaster film in the history of our cinema. It has become a legend and a film for all time. A movie that will always touch your soul. The name of this film is Crew (1979), behind the director's chair, which was sitting Alexander Mitta. And I'm going to talk about him today. For one, I mention his remake from Mitt's student - Nikolai Lebedev.
I'll start with one small long shortfall. The fact is that the crew is divided into two halves, the drama about the pilots and the film is a disaster. In my opinion, they are not balanced, and the second part is more interesting than the first. And the problem is that it's important, because if you start with the second one, you don't understand the main characters. I don’t think the first half is interesting. Until I saw the Lebedev Crew, where the whole movie was not interesting. And so much so that the first half of the Mitt crew looks 10 times more interesting against his background. And I'd forgive the Crew (1979) for that, but the problem is that he's the only one in the movie. And he's not easy to forgive. But let's not be sad.
I like this movie. The first stage, of course, the acting, just great. And this is especially true of Zhyonov, Vasiliev and Filatov. The best roles are the main roles. I loved the scenes in this movie. She's gorgeous here. Here you empathize with the character, and you fear for them. Even if you know they're gonna be okay. You're sorry for Nenarokov because his first wife separated him from his son. You understand all of Timchenko's experiences during your career and for your daughter. And you're embarrassed, just like Skvortsov, when a longtime acquaintance showed up before Tamara came. In general, our three heroes (commander, co-pilot and flight engineer) are the embodiments of three types of men. Skvortsov is a type of bachelor and womanizer, a romantic who does not yet want to "be in a cage." Nenarokov is the embodiment of a loving father who was unlucky to marry a rare two-faced bitch. Timchenko is the incarnation of a wise father with a faithful wife, who will become a grandfather because of his unlucky daughter. And all these three types of men are worked out and played for glory. The conflict between Fathers and Children (Timchenko) is perfectly shown here. The conflict between husband and wife (Nenarokov) is perfectly shown here. And the problems of womanizers (starlings) are perfectly shown. And most interestingly, I liked the design of the apartment Skvortsov. For his apartment is the apartment of the first Soviet DJ in the cinema. And that's good. Also here are not regular situations, the probability of a successful solution of which is small. But you believe they're doable. Here is the consequence of arriving in a non-plane during its flight. And you feel the pain that these characters have felt. Yeah, and for 1979, the special effects are great. Yes, these are mock-ups, but these mock-ups are well animated, which looked like live. In other words, in this film a great drama and a beautiful film is a disaster.
Compared to the Crew (2016), the Crew (1979) wins in all respects. For in the Crew (2016) drama, acting, production is much weaker than in the original. And there are so many non-staff situations that you don't empathize with the character. For you know they will get away with it. Yes, and in general, there were more people on the non-airplane during the flight, and they're all healthy after arriving there. The Crew (2016) is a good movie, but very boring. So much so that even the first half of the Crew (1979) looks interesting. The crew won in 1979.
In The Crew (1979) is not only a beautiful drama and a great film - a disaster. It's a masterpiece among films -- catastrophes. And also a worthy representative of Soviet cinema.
I just watched this film, although the title with the invariable prefix “the first Soviet disaster film” was on the ear since childhood.
And it is from 2017 that I want to say that this is not the “first disaster film”, but the best disaster film – without any condescending pats on the shoulder: they say, well done, but where are Soviet filmmakers up to modern computer graphics? It wasn't here.
I do not remember a single film in this genre (domestic or foreign, up to the present time), which would outweigh the Crew in emotional intensity.
The modern viewer is used to everything, even bullets can whistle at his head in 3D glasses. I certainly won’t be high on technical progress, because without it there would be no cinema at all. However, when you watch a blockbuster with crazy bends and explosions, you remember perfectly well that this is a movie. Even mentally applauding especially cool chips.
When you watch "The Crew," you worry about people.
Yes, remember here that it’s just a movie, but it’s filled with so much of the truth of life that you realize that people who are in an emergency really do. You think of news reports about miners in a collapsed mine or civilians under bombardment. And it keeps you at the screen in a way that no special effect can hold.
There are moments that are really brilliant, for example, when the plane stops its crazy course right in front of the camera and the rain pours down its skin: from the fire we fall into the water, it is an incredible feeling, the editing of the whole scene is a work of art! The same applies to the soundtrack of the film, for example in a scene where the voices of the crew tensely echo, checking all systems before takeoff.
It is impossible to write about actors because it will be through every word "genius"! Just look at one close-up of Anatoly Vasiliev as his character sits in blood, with his head bandaged and staring at a little boy in the cockpit. I can't put it into words.
I don’t know if Mitt was planning on making a patriotic movie, but that’s what he did. No pathos, frankly, much. There is a moment when the pilot climbs on the roof of the plane in flight. I'm not a physicist, but I think it's impossible. But you look at it and you realize that if there is even the slightest chance that this is possible, our Ivans will. You just believe it, because they already proved it in the forties in the war.
I want to thank all the people who worked on this film. Thank you very much, sir.
She sat down to watch the film after she learned that Lebedev’s “Crew” was his remake. I immediately understood that the film is old and it is not worth waiting for the wonders of technology, but the fact is that this is not the case, as one of my teachers said.
The film is divided into two series. And the first, strangely enough, I was very fascinated. If the whole first part of Lebedev’s “Crew” I almost slept, then here I was wondering how events would develop. Especially touched by the story of a caring father and talented pilot Nenarokov. It is impossible not to regret him because he came across such a snake on the path of life. I've never seen a bitch like that before. She caused violent emotions, I wanted to strangle her with my bare hands, for which I express my gratitude to the actress Irina Akulova. I was able to play so much that I think anyone who watches her character will hate her. Narokov, of course, it is his fault that he chose one, and then for so long endured, but still his character is acutely empathetic. It was also interesting to observe a pair of flight conductors Tamara and flight engineer Ihor, there was a certain intrigue that held until the very end.
Unfortunately, the second series disappointed me. And here I am not talking about any technical details and “implausibility”, about entertainment and special effects. On the contrary, I even believe that for that time this part was filmed as vividly as possible. Another thing is that I will never believe that people in force majeure behave like this. Yes, I can understand that the pilots need to be calm, and although I think that they all behaved too calmly, but I can blame the fact that they were specially trained, that they could not otherwise, but passengers, ordinary passengers ... I'll never believe they can be so stupid. I know they were a little panicked, a little hysterical, but the keyword is a little bit b>. The creators, apparently, decided to go a little into the comedy genre to relieve unnecessary tension, but overdid it. And here, if you compare with the “Crew” of 2016, the film is very losing, because it does not cause feelings of empathy, participation at all. So, melodrama with elements of a disaster film. Again, to make it very clear, I’m not talking about special effects and technical inaccuracies, for which the film is clearly crucified aviation, but I do not care. I came for emotions, and I didn't get them. Only at the expense of emotions you can show such a disaster film that scenery is not necessary, so believe.
The end was brutally leaked, as if to me, and again translated into melodrama. The melodrama at the end touched me again. Conclusion - it was not necessary to climb into the genre of disaster, it was necessary to shoot household melodrama. This, by the way, they turned out much better than they are shooting now, because the stories of the main characters really caught on.
Perhaps, if I had not watched Lebedevsky “Crew” just a week ago and did not compare while watching these two films, the impression would have been better, I do not deny and do not exclude, because there I was very impressed and worried about almost every minor character, I was really afraid for their lives, here – laughed, sat down, went home.
If you advise, it is only for the sake of general development and familiarization. Or if you want a good Soviet melodrama. Although... the ratings are high, people really like it, so I’m in the minority, but as it is.

Considering that this film I first watched the day before going to the cinema for his remake, the film of 1979 I can not evoke nostalgia, but I perfectly understand the older generation, who remember this film with enthusiasm, because Soviet people almost had no opportunity to watch a spectacular movie, because in the USSR almost did not know how to do special effects, and American cinema was rarely shown in Soviet cinemas, carefully “weeding out” and choosing only what would not harm the mind of the Soviet person. The two most spectacular Soviet films, in which there are not only beautiful views and scenery, which could boast the most famous comedies such as “Caucasus Prisoner”, but also expensive mobile extreme scenes with special effects, were (according to my data) only “War and Peace” by Sergei Bondarchuk (which not everyone is able to understand, but rather only thoroughly read the novel); and the film about which we will talk. The Crew is not a one-sided movie, it is positioned simultaneously as a melodrama and a disaster film. Until the middle of the film, the viewer is shown a set of life situations, and after the middle begins a real attraction, filled with incredible special effects, which are extremely unusual to see in a Soviet film. What is most incredible - in terms of entertainment, the film is not much inferior to the new version, recently held in theaters - it is clear that in the remake a high level of entertainment was achieved with the help of computer graphics and 3D, but the number of special effects is about the same as in the original: life dramas are also shown to the middle, and then action begins. The remake improved only the quality of dialogue, which in the original were not the most perfect and resembled modern soap series, but I do not mean that the old “Crew” is not interesting – the film is good, but good primarily as a disaster film.
If you are not interested in love stories and descriptions of family passions, then start watching right from the middle. I myself have always loved to look at life melodramas and extreme scenes, but the first one is not too clear for a person who did not live under Soviet rule. So as I watched the stories of a pregnant girl refusing to marry the child's father; of a womanizer seeking the favor of a flight attendant; of a divorce and a court decision about who the child would stay with; I waited for the promised active action to begin. When the real attraction began, I was once again glad that we bought an LCD TV with a diagonal of 81 cm, because on the big screen such a spectacle looks more than spectacular. This is the case when our, despite the huge difficulties with prophesy (who cares, read Wikipedia, how the film was created), filmed a worthy answer to the masters of spectacular cinema - Americans, shot a stunning spectacle in which it is impossible to distinguish old special effects from those that are drawn on the computer today. Perhaps the most powerful scene was the one that showed a deadly sortie from the plane on the fly to close the hole, and the consequences of this sortie for the one who pulled this action.
“The Crew” is a Soviet film that is praised primarily for the visual, even realizing that it should not be in the first place. The new film is closer to modern man, but even in it there was not such a strong scene as the treatment of burns after the scene I described above. Of course, to a Soviet person, such a film may seem absolutely perfect, but I liked it only as a disaster film. Such a titanic work should be respected. Although I’m not “made in the USSR”, but I respect Soviet cinema – I confess that not everything, but this film pleased me.
They're good at everything. In the Soviet Union, that or...
Unlike many, I first watched the modern version of the "Crew", and then the classic version. And 4.5 hours between them. So captured the picture Nikolai Lebedev that patience was not enough.
Despite the 37 years between the two films, the guiding idea remains the same - to show courage and courage in performing direct and secondary duties in order to save many passengers. But Alexander Mitta perfectly portrayed the main characters. I admit, it was the first series that touched and intrigued me more. Household drama from the life of ordinary Soviet citizens gave a noticeable simplicity and a native soul, or something. I felt this good-natured and attractive atmosphere of a long-gone era in which I had never lived. With its bright tones, the first series reminded of the wonderful "Moscow does not believe in tears."
The most I followed the fate of the pilot Nenarokov. To put it mildly, how disgusting and intolerable a woman he caught! In the personal rating of the most disgusting characters from movies, the heroine of Ala performed by Irina Akulova now occupies a firm first place. A completely mentally unstable person who does not know his place in life. As a result, the brain is constantly “carrying out” to the husband and child. There is no justification for this behavior. For the sake of the family, the husband quit his favorite business, got a job at a lower rank, devotes his free time to the family and never scolds the stuttering son. He doesn’t even yell and raise his hand on his habal, what to look for! The pathetic and outrageous performance of Ali during the trial to determine parental rights caused such righteous anger in me that I could not resist, and loudly said “bitch!” By the way, there is nothing to accuse Nerokov of softness and weakness. That's completely wrong. His strength lies in patience and loyalty. You can only envy that.
Alexander Mitta Companions perfectly painted their heroes. Everyone has their own image, their own soul, their own thoughts, their own experiences. An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, despite Time, Place and Circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break. This is what ancient Chinese wisdom says. The invisible thread is perfectly stretched to every corner of the script. Any boundaries between the film and the viewer are erased, because the viewer becomes almost a common friend of all the characters. You rejoice in the "enlightenment in the mind" Igor Skvortsov, the release of the "non-narcissists" from the shackles, the attitude of Timchenko to your own pregnant daughter. Because they do everything well. In Soviet terms, is it ...
The real pride of Soviet cinema. Not so much because of the genre of the disaster film, but because of real human history. For me, the first series prevails over the second. I don’t want to say that this is no longer being filmed. I am sure that current authors are trying, and their efforts will not be wasted. No matter how many films have been made to date, quality stories are still waiting. This hour will come.
Alexander Naumovich Mitta is one of the few film directors with Soviet education and experience who almost painlessly passed the so-called dashing 90s, and were able to join the already modern cinema. Among his brightest works, many still loved, are still of the Soviet era – “Burn, burn, my star” (1969-th year of release) and “The Tale of how Tsar Peter Arapa married” (1976-th). At present, he is most famous for the series, very often run on various TV channels "Border: Taige Romance" (2000). But still the most popular and still the most beloved film among the viewer, who shot Alexander Naumovich was and remains the film “Crew” of 1979, one of the first Soviet films of the disaster genre.
In the case of the painting “Crew” stand out several important components for the picture to be successful. It is worth starting, perhaps, with the script, which was written in the co-authorship of Julia Dunsky and Valery Fried, who are also known for having processed for filming classic works of Arthur Conan Doyle, we are, of course, talking about “Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson”, probably the best adaptation of the legendary detective essays of the writer and this is not bragging. We must pay tribute to the duo of writers who were able to separate, about two important parts, to divide the film “Crew”. The first part is a drama in which the viewer gets acquainted with the composition of the pilots, who will soon have to save many lives thanks to their perseverance, courage, endurance and composure. And the second part is just a disaster of an earthquake and lava ejection, when an entire industrial city could be buried like the unforgettable Pompeii.
The second special thing about Crew is its characters, which were superbly played by our favorite actors. And in this case, there is one special episode and it concerns the actor, poet, publicist and generally mega-talented man Leonid Filatov. He was one of the first to star in the USSR in an erotic scene, which became not that a shock, but something generally on the verge of reasonableness in that being. The next morning after his role Filatov woke up not only famous, but to him after, and then only hinted, firmly glued the label of a sex symbol, although in itself, as a person, Leonid Filatov was not. Shy, he even filmed in bed in jeans. He was a wonderful man! And this is just an episode, think about it: an episode of the film, and how many different personalities here, everyone is paid attention, each viewer can find the most impressive actor. This wise with gray experience Georgy Zhyonov in the image of the captain of the aircraft, it is Anatoly Vasiliev and even Ekaterina Vasilyeva deserves his praise, although her role is small and secondary. But of all stands out and Irina Akulova, who played the wife of the hero Vasiliev. There are not enough words to describe her stupidity, bitchiness and real stupidity, the way her character behaved. Every time she shows up, it's gnashing your teeth with anger at this woman. Try it again before you speak obscenely. But we don't need women like that!
And, of course, a separate mention deserves the filmed second part of the picture, this is just the one when the disaster flares up, and the crew rushes to the rescue completely without sparing themselves. But there is a small reference, because before it all began inside the crew there was a small conflict and it gives a special flavor and psychological situation. When disaster happens, when it is necessary to save people, everyone will begin to forget about this incident, now professionalism and the ability to be not a coward come first. The operator of the picture Valery Shuvalov was able to convey the real trembling atmosphere of what is happening. Yes, this is now watching when visuals created with the help of computer technology flooded the screen, and then filmed naturally and let the footage of the disaster seem a bit primitive now, but in 1979, it was, believe me, a real breakthrough. And no wonder still the picture “Crew” is in the list of the most visited tapes of the Soviet time.
Fans of Hollywood multimillion-dollar blockbusters this film is not advised, this is not the Marvel Universe, here the drama, the highest level of the actors, the versatility of the characters, their life and willpower, when they did everything possible and impossible to save people from the disaster zone.
A masterpiece film from the category of "such pictures will not be removed again." This is a vivid example of how you can shoot incomparably without any computer graphics, everything here looks natural.
The only thing I don’t like is the first series. Honestly, I saw it only a couple of times, and then I somehow did not want to watch it, I immediately waited for the appearance of the second one, because in the first series I am terribly unpleasant to look at stereotypical characters - a hysteria, a weak-willed vegetable and others, and besides, I categorically do not digest melodrama. But the second part is insanely piercing, I watched many times, and holding my breath.
Directing at the highest level, well done Mitta, made a legendary film that will be watched for many more years. The script is also very good, and about the cast and not even need to talk, everyone played as it should, nothing superfluous in their game.
So this film can be watched and watched, of course, this applies to the second series, because as I said – the first series to review many times there are no desires.
10 out of 10
This film became the leader of the distribution in 1980 - more than 70 million viewers. Received several awards. Before writing the review, I revised it, and it turned out that I still remember some phrases and situations, although the last time I watched it 12 years ago.
The film is a two-part series, and its feature is that the series are different in genre. The first I would call a rather calm story about the life and work of the main characters (drama, although it is called a melodrama), the second is a disaster film. I was impressed by both, and the division itself, too.
In the first series, the most hooked "pedagogue" - the wife of Nenarokova - this is a horror of some kind! You fed, brazen, psychotic bitch! I try to choose my expressions, but it's such a contagion! Tormented her husband, torturing the child, when watching wanted to hit her! Another question is why the husband tolerated all this, some kind of boot.
A little cool with emotions, I will say that the actress, apparently, perfectly coped with the role, it is almost impossible to watch! Baba turned out - just "Tear it off and throw it away!" This is such an anti-example for all girls - never, under any circumstances, behave like this in the family!
In the second series, everything is scary. The fact that the film is old, not glossy, only adds to the horror. Some naiveté, inconsistencies and even outright distortions of the real processes in such films do not bother me. If the actors make the viewer worry, it doesn’t matter in which pavilion, with what budget and how it was filmed. And here Georgy Zhyonov is just good, even skeptical viewers recognize this. And the other actors are quite convincing.
Result: The first Soviet disaster film still pulls the nerves, does not leave indifferent. Skeptics, cynics and misanthropes are not advised to watch, just do not need to. By the way, there were no oxygen masks on this type of aircraft at that time.
My husband, as they say, “in the subject” – works for aviation, “Crew”, of course, watched. I told him that I felt it was necessary to give this film a high rating, without even asking him whether it was true or not. The husband said, "No, it doesn't happen, put ten." Here it is.
With all my deep respect for Soviet cinema, this film should be watched only with a historiographical purpose: "What was this famous Soviet disaster film - the leader of the film distribution of the 80th?"
And it was very piecey, unnatural, “tightened by the ears”, overflowing with haphazard emotions, as well as a huge number of special effects – all this should make the viewer seem softer... amazed, surprised, in general, get in the cinema that hitherto a young Soviet man had not even seen. A separate moment in the proof of the thesis can be almost the first erotic scene in Soviet cinema - one wonders why it is here, if not in order to stun the viewer? Yes, for the film distribution of the 80th, it must have been a furor, but ...
But a movie with a capital letter does not do that!
Not in any way want to belittle the wonderful play of the main cast. Zhyonov, Filatov, Yakovleva, Vasilyeva and the rest play well. What can not be said, of course, about the passengers of the flight – such a high level of playfulness I have not seen since the era of silent cinema, though there the playfulness was justified and even vital!
Result: watch only to get acquainted with the history of Soviet cinema.
