Frankie's game This film is not particularly on hearing and does not shine at all with fame, and especially with awards. No way. Very. Incredibly good tandem in the form of Ford and Pitt. The film touches on different themes and the role of Bradley is designed to show all these sides in the light of good, or sincere impossibility to do otherwise. He's not a simple man, even very simple. Although he seems "not knowing the depths" like a kid, so unexperienced, who wants to teach life. But as you will see later, these guys are capable of what they are capable of. Pitt played the part very well. Man is fully aware of what he is seeking. He understands that he is young, but he has made his revenge the meaning of his life. He does not need children, women, he does not need cars, he is alien to the world of others.
He has a super goal, a task that he will carry out until the end of the film, until the end of his screen life. And Frankie somehow evokes sympathy, not judgment, but compassion. Well, that's probably what it was meant to be. And don’t take everything too seriously, but Alan Pakula has managed to bring something new to the cinema, combining romance with perhaps the most terrible thing in modern life, terrorism. No, no propaganda. But there is an attempt to bring some kind of heroism, some kind of nobility, into this barbaric act. But that's just the first side. Brad Pitt played great! As usual with dedication, with complete immersion in the hero. Ford, that kind of role is his thing, it's a very good fit for him. Play a fair cop, almost a pensioner, but at any time able to give a head start to everyone, including the most dangerous bandits.
Frankie's hatred of the world, his anger, that drives him to all his crimes, is well shown. He thinks that he is right, all his actions are well thought out and planned, he has a fanatical idea in his head - I am fighting for the right cause. He is like a clockwork that is planned and designed by a special program, superhuman, like his ideas. And here comes the second side, fanaticism, a stupid belief in the truth that is a lie. And it's scary. It's very cruel. Man is, in fact, still a young man, well, in comparison with Ford, but he is already so well trained in the art of harming everything and everything that his youth is his main trump card. It is based on the long history of the British occupation of Ireland. That is how this topic is presented. And we see from the resistance side what they are fighting for, what ideals they are pursuing. Of course, the whole action is pretty smeared with glaze and pink colors, so it is not worth objectively judging the real motives. You can paint a picture with a severed head and call it a picture of the world, but it is still worth judging in the literal sense. Actually, the subject is very complicated. There's always big politics. And not everyone agrees with her.
However, the killing of innocent people cannot be justified by anything, it is always a crime and should always be strictly punished, ideally also.
In general, a good film, raises different topics, quite detailed.
