And man made a monster... The film is very memorable. Despite the absence of any action, it is not necessary in this film. The world after the end of the world does not need action or explanation. Nowhere else have I come across such an all-encompassing admiration of industry and factories, perhaps only in the film “Children of Iron Gods”, which was released around the same years, you can see what was in the air then.
I remember the association of the factory with a monster from a children's fairy tale, the existence of which in itself was a threat to the world, and it was neither good nor evil, it just lived. In the fairy tale, the monster was killed, and in the film it won. And throughout the film, we can watch the aimless walks of the artist, a little girl and her mother along the walls of the cyclopean factory that consumed the entire planet. A hopeless and suicidal metal world. And the need of an already old and slowly dying artist (and humanity) for an alternative to all this, in a simple wooded landscape, which is no longer and will not be, is very subtly and acutely conveyed. The fatigue and monstrous mental pressure from the factory is felt by the middle of the film just physically. Wherever the heroes go, they are waiting only for the factory or dump around the factory. At the same time, despite the actively working production, there are no more people in the frame, the feeling that the moloch functions on its own, which further thickens the atmosphere of darkness and hopelessness. At the same time, the film is interspersed with very strong visual scenes, for example, the funeral of a crushed children's toy or shots of the main characters-pygmies against the background of many kilometers of pipes and towers of the dead shop. And all this in addition shot on a very poor quality film with a lot of scratches and defects (conscious decision?), creating simply unrealistically stylish effect. In general, the film was successful and is highly recommended to familiarize all people who are not indifferent to this topic. 10 out of 10.
