The virtual bursts into reality. When you read the announcement or watch a teaser for this film, it seems like it’s some kind of youth horror Movie. So I had some doubts about whether to look or not. Plus, this is the author’s first prolnomic. But since there were two actors I knew and especially I had already appreciated the talent of Byung Yo Han, I decided to go, besides the bonus was a discussion with the director of the film.
So, I think for the debut film - it's just genius!
This is not a horror, but a social film. Here comes a problem that in other films (from those I have heard) is shown only casually, sideways, here it dominates. This problem is particularly acute in South Korean society, but also becoming more relevant around the world.
We spend more and more time online at the screens of our computers, smartphones: in contact, Facebook, forums and various chat rooms (especially popular in Korea). But if earlier this problem was rather that we spend more and more time in the virtual world, and many scientists predict that soon we will completely break away from reality and notice it. In this film, it is the opposite:
Yes, we hide behind nicknames, we present ourselves as other people, or vice versa, show ourselves as in reality we can not afford, allow us to behave as we want without fear of consequences. But that's where we get trapped. The virtual world begins to influence the real world, penetrates into it and bears the inevitable outcome. The film tells about the consequences and dangers to which such a merger can carry.
Also, this film is about the responsibility we take for our words - lies, anger, jokes, judgment, slander. About how far we are willing to go in condemning and persecuting others, and what catastrophic consequences it could have for you and others.
And most importantly, the film almost to the end remains intrigue. The director deftly manipulates the feelings and thoughts of both the heroes and the viewer. Strangely enough, the story comes back from where it started. But will the irreparable mistake be repeated again, will history come out of this corkscrew, will the heroes and society be able to draw conclusions?
