And the crow said, Everybody down! Hands for me to see! Service Sony Crackle continues to fight for the audience and presents to the public an action-packed multi-part criminal action movie “Oath” with the notorious Sean Bean in the main cast and Fifti Saint as one of the producers.
The plot tells about a gang of dirty cops "Crows", concerned about their own earnings more than official duties. Pressed by the FBI, the gang members are forced to agree to a deal: help in exposing other gangs in epaulettes and catching the leaders of other criminal groups.
From the first frames, “The Oath” bribes with tense action and dynamics. The story, created not by the most successful screenwriter Joe Halpin with the help of his brother and several colleagues in the workshop, is based on the personal experience of one of the members of such gangs. And unlike the previous works of the creator in the field of category "B", "The Oath" came out more exciting and successful. Heroes of the series now and then, fall from fire and into the flames, being under the harsh pressure of advancing on the heels of the feds, eager to put them in prison and raging gangsters, trying to feed someone a bullet. The intensity of suspense and the abundance of plot twists for 10 episodes are maintained so well that the viewer can only wonder how the characters have not yet died from the effects of stress. But, in a barrel of honey, there is certainly a spoonful of tar. The first of the bad that catches the eye is the disgusting camera work, apparently pursuing the goal of creating the effect of presence, but in fact the camera in the shaking hands causes rather the effect of a wide range of feelings from nausea to dizziness. And, the second more significant disadvantage is the undeveloped details of the script, such as the lack of a police procedure, which makes it feel that half the time the characters spend in their bar and the other half – solving their gangster issues. In the investigation or patrol work, the characters are not engaged at all, which apparently does not cause questions either from the authorities or the city authorities. Such flaws do not help the reliability of what is happening on the screen. In addition, “The Oath” still deserves attention and the second season, where the creators, hopefully, learn from the ratings and criticism of the first season and do the necessary work on the mistakes.
+: Story, suspense, action.
-: Gaps in the script, operator work.
