An easy sketch about the summer adventures of the beautiful and young. Of course, in France. This tape is certainly a tribute to the work of Eric Romer, namely his cycle “Tales”, dedicated to different seasons. The name and the outline of the season here is not the only roll call.
We have two stories. The first is about two girls with a different approach to life and its charms. They decide to spend a weekend outside the city and face the result of their own attitude. The usual everyday scenes, conversations, flirting, laughter, but they both get different experiences, in delightful summer landscapes drowning in greenery. What an intimacy at the end, on the train. It's a wonderful shot.
The second story, more about the psychological makeup. The young lady is used to like the guys and repel their active claims. But as soon as she notices a man who is not captivated by her charms, the excitement awakens in her. A very everyday story taking place in a student dormitory, without embellishment and clever words, but still with the spark of intelligence, which is always so felt even in the simplest French dramas.
This is a painting. And although this picture is weaker than Romer’s, it still has the same tone, mood, the same style, albeit another master.
I've missed such a movie.
