That's what the plus of quarantine is that now you can watch movies, animated tapes and TV shows to which you did not get your hands. In my list 'must see' just listed animated picture 'Forward'. Why? Too many good things have been read and heard about him. And as it turned out, not in vain ...
The authors have created a world where magical creatures and magic coexist peacefully with scientific progress and invention. The most interesting thing is that it is the second that displaces the first and magic is out of business. The story tells us about an insecure teenage elf who wants to make friends with his peers and become brave as a father he never knew. His biggest dream is to meet a parent who died before his son was born. Our main character lives with his mother - she is (morally and physically) a strong woman and an older brother who has taken academic leave and is not interested in anything but board games based on magical stories and his rusty vans. With them still lives stepfather centaur, who personally annoyed me as a character with his actions. So, on the birthday of the main character has the opportunity to bring his father back to life for one day. It turned out that the teenage elf has magical powers. In order to get their parents back, the main character and his older brother go on a crazy adventure for a magical crystal that is not so easy to get.
Overall, the picture is very good. Well-designed graphics. Good, good humor. Raising important topics such as: the relationship between close relatives (particularly between two brothers), the need to remember your history and roots and just do not forget about the people who surround you and love you. The picture is made relevant, bright and dynamic. I suggest you watch it. You can watch with the whole family.
In the ancient world, fabulous creatures used their magical abilities in everyday life, but technological progress, thanks to ease of use, over time began to displace magic. An old-schooler, the dark elf Barley dreams of a return to the old days and cannot rejoice when he learns that he and his younger brother Ian inherit a staff that can resurrect their father for a day. But how do you do that if the art of witchcraft has sunk into oblivion? Ian suddenly finds hidden talents. . .
Pixar has always been at the forefront of progressive technology and mega-popular heart-wrenching stories, where high morals could be gleaned from both children and adults. “Forward”, of course, does not become an exception and tries to keep the brand, only it turns out that he has it with varying success. The development of graphics of the surrounding world remains at the highest level, sometimes reaching the level of photorealism. But the characters and the plot itself cause ambiguous sensations.
At first glance, the setting, where magical creatures live the lives of ordinary people, is bound to intrigue, as at one time it did similar to the idea of “Zootopia”. However, to indulge bunnies and leisurely sloths is one thing, and to do the same with orcs and manticors is another. The first half of the cartoon involuntarily there are thoughts that the characters are not able to cause the viewer stable empathy, and the typical character and school problems of the main character have already been put to shame for hundreds of other works. Specifically, family drama does not cause questions, since it is interesting to observe the relationships within the family from and to.
The adventure in the style of road-movie with elements of the quest begins to capture, though not immediately, but tries to attract the viewer with a sincere passion: chases, a lot of humor, a cheerful soundtrack and, of course, acquaintance with eccentric locals. Towards the end, the cartoon still blossoms in all its glory - you want to watch without interruption. The final, in particular, works with hurrah, achieving all the goals set in terms of moral guidance and potential tearing of the most impressionable.
“Forward” is a high-quality, funky and “correct” cartoon in its message, but weak from the point of view of the Pixar framework. The famous studio for all its time rolled out so many masterpieces that the expectations of the viewer can not always justify its capabilities. There is nothing to be ashamed of.
I liked the cartoon. This project should be viewed only in IMAX, it is so juicy and dynamic. This is a very family cartoon. It will be clear to children 6+, and adults. Two and a half elves are set to embark on a quest to bring the magic back to the world of cars and supermarkets. Usually adults like to be nostalgic for their childhood, classmates and parents. This movie will take us back to when children believed in magic. Two and a half elves are a very juicy start to adventure. I really liked the character of Manticore (voiced by Anna Ardova). Her character is a symbol of success of the 21st century. In the age of consumption, she is not afraid to be herself and go back to the past.
Two elves - Ian (voiced by Philip Lebedev) and Barley (voiced by Vladimir Yaglych) - are trying to complete the quest. This is not just a road Movie, it reveals all the love for parents, adventure, independence. I liked the movie because it puts parental love first. Finding magic, finding your own point of view - all this is dedicated to the cartoon. Modern man is tired of everyday life: he just wants magic. Parents are our magic. They inspire children, they give love. Laundry on the road - this is a chic field for jokes and courage.
An exciting journey, an interesting quest - that can illuminate everyday life. The cartoon is very interesting. He is both philosophical and family at the same time. The love of parents is the magic.
The cartoon is very juicy and interesting. An hour of 40 minutes passes like ten minutes. The cartoon is very philosophical. Director Dan Scanlon made a very dynamic cartoon.
I don’t understand how Pixar manages to get Mickey Mouse bosses to have such heartfelt and beautiful works. Yes, yes, it’s works, because what Disney does is mostly purely commercial projects, but that’s not what it’s about now.
I've heard a lot about this cartoon, and I'll share one of these stories with you, but after a brief plot description. Heroes of the cartoon, two brothers, completely different from each other. One is afraid of everything and the other is not afraid of anything, as the mother of these two characters says. They are elves living in an amazing world inhabited by centaurs, fairies, unicorns and even manticors. Ian and Barley receive a gift of a magical staff from their deceased father, and they use the staff to try to resurrect it, but something goes wrong and only their dad's lower body is resurrected. To complete the resurrection, they set out on a journey.
This is worth stopping because there will be spoilers. Let’s go back to the author, Dan Scanlon. The director of the cartoon based his personal story (no, he did not resurrect his father), his father also died when he was still young, but he was replaced by Dan’s older brother. And here it is worth returning to the cartoon and lower the veil of secrecy on the three main thoughts of the cartoon: author, Pixar and Disney. And I'm going to start talking about them in reverse, from less to more.
Disney.
Over the past five years, Disney has released only one cartoon that is truly good. This is 'Zootopia' And I may not like it very much, but it is impossible not to note its advantages. Everything else was boring, mediocre or secondary, but the amazing thing is that Disney always and everywhere promotes the same idea, which, to be honest, is already quite boring. Why? Because it blows false and artificial. And the thought is, yes, you may have flaws, but you can change the world if you just try and pull yourself together. Cartoon ' Forward' contains this thought, but it is very mediated and it may not even be noticed. It is far from the main one, but even it is logically justified.
Pixar.
The idea of Disney is logically justified thanks to the ideas of Pixar, who from time to time pronounce this idea in their works. Remember in 'Ratatouhe'?'Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from nowhere' It’s about the talent that lives in all of us. And in this cartoon, it manifests itself in a slightly different way, because magic is, in essence, and is a talent that is not given to everyone in the cartoon of the world & #39; Forward'. The magic goes to Ian, but Barley is not, but Ian is not enough to wield magic. But it's only at first, Barley's competent leadership, his knowledge of the history of magic help Ian master very useful and important spells. What does that say? There is a talent in each of us, and even if we dig it up, it is not the fact that we will be able to clean it and show shine, we need a push, something that will make us believe in ourselves that we are able to make this diamond shine. It could be an internal push, it could be an external push, it's not that important. What matters is what we get at the end, and we get faith in ourselves and the talent itself. Barley helps Ian believe in himself, various obstacles and circumstances help Ian turn from a timid teenager into a confident and courageous person (well, an elf). And it's very interesting what Ian says at the end of the animated film: ' I think that if we have a drop of magic, we can do everything on the light' That is, if we, every person, will have at least a drop of talent, then no obstacles are terrible for this person, and he can do everything in the world. I'm sorry, people deprived of any talent. This bitter truth Pixar, which they have already shown in 'Monsters University'. If you are Mike Wazovsky (if his name is not spelled like that, please don’t throw a stone, please), hardworking and hardworking, but without talent, you will not be able to reach the heights of learning at least all the textbooks. If you're Sullivan, a talented slacker, you can move mountains without diligence.
Author. And the cherry on the cake is the meaning laid down by the director of the cartoon. The loss of his father is grieved by his younger brother, who has never seen him. The elder is also worried, but he is more optimistic and his motto is "No Give Up" & #39; helps him not to lose heart. They embark on a journey in which they gain wisdom. This is a popular move that goes back to the mythology of ancient peoples, each of which has a similar plot. The path, the road, the journey always forces a person to be alone with himself and his thoughts or alone with a person who is dear to you. This journey changes both characters, Barley less and Ian more. Ian understands that his brother played the role of father for him all his life, and he is the culprit of all his achievements, which he achieved in a day, by the way. Ian himself admits this when at the end of the cartoon, having quarreled with his brother, he opens a list of things he would like to do with his father, begins to cross out various points, but then realizes that he did all this with his brother. Drive a car, throw a ball, laugh, dance, but most importantly, believe in yourself, never give up and spend the rest of your life together. Their journey is a revelation to Ian as he realizes the huge and important role Barley plays in his life. Some people call it an existential drama, but that’s not true. Drama, of course, but existentialism is not enough. The cartoon is still more positive and does not ask questions about the meaning of life, because it shows that the meaning of life is living with those who are dear to you, without fear of anything and no one.
So what? Come on!
“A long time ago, the world was full of miracles. There were many dangers, adventures, and most importantly, magic. But what if the world had chosen a simpler and more reliable path to technological progress? The film "Forward" will help to find the answer.
The plot revolves around two brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot (I would translate the Softfoots), who are about to embark on the most magical adventure in a world that has long forgotten the taste of real magic. Along the way, they will not only show the world the tiny bit of magic that lives in everyone, but also once again prove that the simple way is not always the right way (or rather, “always wrong”), and the family is the main miracle.
The film “Forward” can be properly attributed to a long series of family films from Disney, of which it almost does not stand out, but at the same time is remembered forever. In my memory, Disney has not yet had family films in the genre of “road cinema”, which makes the film “Forward” especially interesting for the viewer. In it, as expected, the main characters go on a family trip full of chases, skirmishes, funny moments, quarrels and skirmishes with a beautiful family reunion at the end of the road. From this side, "Forward" fits perfectly into the genre. But Disney decides to go further and add a fantasy element – magic – which diluted the tired stamps. Here, magic is not only beautiful special effects to the delight of the viewer, but also something like instruction. With every spell the protagonist learns, he and the viewer learn an important lesson: “Be focused, believe in yourself and what you do, tell the truth.” Following these basic truths is often true magic.
In the end, it can be noted that the whole world and the characters of the film “Forward” seem to indicate that people often do not allow magic and adventure to enter their lives. Like Manticore, who “needs to run a tavern, look for investors, fill out a payroll,” people with their worries and responsibilities often forget that life is not just an endless loop in which work, career and finance revolve, that sometimes you need to let it all go for a second, as Manticore did, and adventure and danger will overwhelm you. After all, “you have to take risks to go on an adventure.”
Pixar cartoons have one very nice feature - you want to come back to them again and again. Now, in the days of thousands of monthly releases, to do this is akin to miracles, and to achieve this level of quality, you will have somewhere, something to break. And the fact that the audience will accept and love what was so carefully created. But miracles, as they say, come true. The new project of the studio, with the concise title 'Forward', was a revelation for me. Sad, instructive and sincere. There are many who have not been touched, and many who have been missed, a real revelation that has touched the heart. This is an amazing movie.
'Forward', skilfully operating dramatic and comedic artistic techniques, well seasoned with charming musical inserts, reveals the importance of the institution of the family, its almost absolute influence on life and further destiny in general, because everything is known to be from childhood, and those who are close to us, and those who, unfortunately, may not be with us, are the very bit of the sculptor, powerful blows carving the image of our personality. The dramatic component and creativity of the developers’ ideas are simply striking, and the general magical entourage unconsciously pushes to associate with the cult ' Shrek' and the famous dragon trilogy.
Sadly, 'Go', for all known reasons, still failed at the box office, collecting barely more than half of its value. Many people talk about the ambiguity of the project, its passing nature and the fact that the authors dullly copied the images of the main characters from other, more successful projects, such as 'Ratatouille'. Only the viewer who did not watch the old classics will not notice the visual similarity between the two leading characters, but to be honest, this in no way prevented me from enjoying the cartoon. The characters are written ' from' and ' to', subtle, sometimes really old-fashioned humor, interesting plot and most importantly - clear ideological guidelines.
Recommended viewing.
I finally saw something new from Pixar. For the past 10 years, the studio has created mainly sequels and sequels of already acclaimed cartoons. But this time Dan Scanlon tried and brought to life his own original story.
The film tells us about brothers-elves, who are raised by one mother, their names are Ian and Barley. My father died when they were little. Ian turns 16 and he and Barley get his father's staff, and in addition - a magic spell that will bring his father back to life for one day, because Ian has so many questions.
Once upon a time, magic reigned in the fairy-tale world, but after the discovery of electricity, magicians became unnecessary. Now all creatures lead a normal life and are mired in modern technologies. What a beautiful metaphor, a mirror image of the modern world.
The whole movie is packed with catchphrases and moments to reflect on. I love Pixar so much for creating masterpiece after masterpiece, and this time they were able to create a product unlike anything, filled with meaning and beauty.
This cartoon is indistinguishable from a real movie, animation at the level of the present. It is only fabulous images and buildings in the city. Nature and roads in places like real life. Modern technologies only benefit such work. What Pixar is doing, developing them year after year.
But there are also some great characters! All the main characters are spelled out perfectly, they live the plot and change together for the better, I noticed real changes in the main character. And the final will not leave anyone indifferent, I even wanted to cry, but I restrained myself.
The cartoon tells us about simple life wisdom. We are often insecure, afraid of everyone and everything. We even set ourselves some goals, but after losing in the first, we throw everything and close even more. We don’t realize that there is so much beauty around us. We look for understanding in the images of people we have invented, when we can just look around and consider something more in a loved one. A film about overcoming obstacles and growing up. A film about true friendship.
Atmospheric, light, instructive and modern. It is a must-see!
I think few would argue with the fact that there is no more successful and eminent animated film studio than Pixar, which almost from the first of its film set a high bar for quality. Happily reaching and even raising it from film to film. Almost in most cases, giving out real masterpieces. The formula, in my opinion, failed only with the frankly passing “Good Dinosaur”, which made it clear that the studio can miss and give the audience far from one hundred percent hits. This film is directed by Dan Scanlon one of those.
The events of this tape develop in a fairy-tale world in which magic once reigned. But after the discovery of electricity, magicians became unnecessary, and the development of technology completely supplanted magic and almost no one remembers it. Lost their father at a young age and raised by a single mother, the Elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot receive their father’s staff as a gift. They decide to use a magic spell and bring their father back to life for a day. But the magic crystal disappears, resurrecting only the lower half of the father. Barley and Ian decide to go on a long journey for another crystal. Not even knowing what amazing adventures await them ahead.
Pixar studio has always bribed by the fact that in each of its works the most meticulously and voluminously explored each world they created. Like a world of emotions from "Puzzle", or heavy and happy everyday toys from the quadrology "Toy Story". To my surprise, this film was an exception. The magic world is presented on the screen rather superficially and as if in a hurry. Wanting to show everything and everything to the maximum, the authors of this film could not reveal the depth of the world and make it more alive. Which is great for the viewing experience. The same suffers and the quest of the main characters, from which you could squeeze the maximum. But as a result, the characters get into a rather stingy adventure in terms of number and staging, and the locations in which they turn out to be counted on the fingers of one hand. Which also demonstrates the inability of the authors to make the most of the existing idea on the screen.
The situation is saved by a really pleasant and perhaps even intimate story, which, like other Pixar works, relies on family values. The authors of this tape tried their best and made each hero of the story as alive and real as possible. Every word of the characters believe, and in difficult situations even empathize. At the same time, the relationship of the two brothers is presented so interesting and natural that they are imbued even before the demonstration with one of the main moral twists of the plot of the picture with “replacement of the father”.
It is impossible not to note the instructive message of this tape, without which no Pixar film can do. On the example of the magical world, the magic of which was forgotten due to numerous technologies, the authors of this tape reflect the harsh reality of our world. When all of us are so busy with work and everyday worries, as well as our virtual life in numerous instant messengers, social networks, Twitter, Instagram and so on, that we simply stopped noticing the amazing, beautiful and sometimes even magical moments around us. Including enjoying life in the circle of the closest. After all, no technology and video calls can replace a strong handshake, a warm hug and a pleasant kiss of a loved one. And it does not matter who it is - father, mother, brother, sister or soul mate.
The main drawback of the script of this tape largely results from the directing of Dan Scanlon. First, Pixar studio has always set the bar for the most realistic and just breakthrough animation. But this film can be considered an exception. The main characters turned out to be as cartoonish and boring as possible in terms of design, and the animation of this tape took a few steps back. Second, Pixar films have always been great at entertaining, but at the same time have always been more mature and philosophical in the background of the work of their competitors. However, the depth that you expect from the studio in this tape is not. Even though there is a really relevant and deep morality of this tape. Thirdly, the picture turned out to be pleasant and looking with interest, but alas, it does not sink into the soul and you hardly want to see it again.
One of the main advantages of this tape is the most realistic and reverent relationship between the two brothers and in many ways this is due to Tom Holland and Chris Pratt, who perfectly voiced their characters on the screen. If possible, watch the film in the original voiceover. Because dubbing kills at least half of the acting work that Pratt and Holland did well on screen. Happily pleased Manticore in the performance of Octavia Spencer, who pulls most of the humor on her shoulders. However, other characters turned out to be rather faded and uninteresting.
7 out of 10
Forward is another good film from the animation studio Pixar, which at the same time is perceived as a step backwards in comparison with other works of the studio. The screen world turned out to be more superficial and not alive, the animation of this tape took a few steps back and the design of the characters is far from impressive. However, a very pleasant and interesting story, the most vivid characters, the reverent relationship of the two brothers and the deep morality of this tape do their good work. Allowing you to spend with interest almost an hour and a half of your time watching this tape and do not regret it at all. But to have the desire to watch the movie again is unlikely.
Cartoon 'Forward' I personally did not bring delight. I went with the child, the child liked it, I was dissatisfied with the cartoon. Expected more because of the spectacular trailer, Pixar Studios, etc. I tried to figure out why, because it seems that everything in it is present at the highest level: an interesting story, fairy-tale characters, magic, great graphics, humor for both children and adults, there are even philosophical thoughts, and the soul does not catch, does not drag everything from head to toe into history, does not take your breath. For myself, I made a conclusion ' why so' and the conclusion is this: the creators overdid to make the cartoon good for everyone, they probably wanted it to appeal to all ages and made it over-refined.
The slow and tiring start is too long, too sweet conversations, character behavior and constant sushi pushi annoy, then the action (action) - a trip for a magic stone for the staff straightens the situation. But the most important thing that destroys the cartoon is the absence of an evil character in it, a villain. And I see the problem of this cartoon, if there was a villain, then in the fight against him and overcoming myself, I would be really interested in empathizing with the characters, and so sugar refined or ordinary gum - look and think why I went to this soap opera. On a ten-point scale, I would bet 6 out of 10. The most important thing is that it seems like a good cartoon, but does not cause delight.
Sooner or later there comes a time when we can no longer enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Everyday affairs take away our last strength, we become more cynical and tough, both towards others and towards ourselves. Should we be blamed? No, of course not. However, you want to remind yourself that you need to stop, look around, take a little break, learn to be a child again. Easier said than done, however, agree, this is sometimes necessary for all of us. Director Dan Scanlon took on a bold task and turned all of the above into a separate setting (as successfully, we will discuss further), in a world that was once shrouded in miracles and good-natured magical creatures that eventually drove themselves into the framework of gray everyday life, where unicorns are now pests digging in garbage cans, centaurs drive cars, fairies and manticons can not fly. All this remained on the pages of children's fairy tales and in the puzzles of fascinating games. Fortunately, adventurers who dream of saddle a mighty pegasus, arm themselves with a sword and go to fight against fire-breathing creatures have not yet lost their minds. Let's get this straight:
Characters:
Brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot:
Ian dreams of becoming a full-fledged law-abiding citizen with driving rights, new academic successes and a couple of friends who are not a sin to invite to his birthday. But he is constantly hindered by Barley’s older brother, an elf (we will designate these motley characters, according to the local canon) not of this world, always hovering in the clouds and shouting all sorts of mantras. It is his enthusiasm that turns the Lightfoot house upside down. But after the death of his father, our heroes often plunge into despondency, remembering all sorts of funny trifles, like a drum shot on shoes - a kind of thing, the deceased head of the family. And now, one day, Laurel Lightfoot’s mother takes out her husband’s farewell gift and pleases her boys with the manuscripts of their father, where there is a detailed instruction for the resurrection of the departed for exactly one day. Inspired by the chance to see their elf again, the brothers go in search of the missing fragment to complete their spell. They are in danger at every step - meetings with monsters from ancient legends, enchanted palaces, tricky puzzles, traps, terrible curses and awareness of the importance of trust, mutual assistance and sacrifice of their own desires for the sake of a common goal. Pixar in the usual manner, will make you cry, bring the right thoughts and, of course, will not forget to entertain.
Laurel Lightfoot and Manticore Korea:
Laurel appears to us as a typical housewife and caring mother. Surely, she would have remained a secondary (unremarkable) character if not in the cartoon of her stunning duet with an incendiary and damn charismatic manticore. Korea is an explosive mixture of infectious energy, an amazing origin, instigated by the local legend of a winged warrior who lives in the towers of an abandoned castle, a business lady who misses the past when she, a brave lioness, cut across the sky and unleashed her righteous anger on enemies, bored so much that you need to make a minimum of effort to wake up the sleeping beast in her. Together they are a real dynamo that attracts all attention. Despite the not very significant role in the plot, the idea of getting a separate TV show with the adventures of Laurel and Korea, on defiled dragons, evil sorcerers, and other evil lands creeps into the finale. That's how good these two are! Going back to reality, on the shoulders of a troublesome elf and a fearless manticor, in short, the main share of humor is held.
With visual component in the animated tape, unfortunately, serious problems. The narrative is literally in three or four locations - the city of Lightfoot, clearly drawn from the Smurf Village, the front courtyard of the school, fields with statues and a dungeon. There is a lack of diversity, quests are stingy on the idea, magical tricks are primitive, the hike, albeit not without risks, is yet straightforward and talk about the fact that the open path is not always true, they go along a difficult path, do not change the picture.
The bottom line: "Forward" is a great story, with memorable characters, good morality, catchy drama, alas, boring surroundings and (despite a number of advantages) completely missed potential to enter the gold collection from Pixar, on one shelf next with the quadrology "Toy Story" (1995 - 2019), "Finding Nemo" (2003), "Ratatuham" (2007), "The Puzzle" (2015), "Secre Coco" (2017), the trilogy next with the "Toy" (2006) and other representatives of the creative team. Again, very sorry!
General impression: I haven’t seen a decent M/F in a long time, and when my colleagues in the workshop praised this cartoon, I wasn’t sure if I would come. But the picture was very touching and with a deep message. It has everything that adults and children can like.
Family. This tape has a morality that enveloped the cartoon from head to toe. From the very beginning of the film, we meet an insecure boy, Ian, who lost his father and did not know him. The guy developed a lot of complexes, no friends, he is ashamed of his brother, uncertainty in his actions. Ian understands the importance of being loved and having a family. The right things and topics are discussed in dialogues in simple and accessible language.
Adventures. The cartoon is saturated with an atmosphere of adventure! Literally in the pool with his head immerses the audience in the whirlpool of events. It’s exciting to see how characters face challenges and how they find a way out. By the way, it was very original. Feeling and sympathizing with Ian and his older brother Barley.
Gener. That's what we need to talk about! The cartoon is shown in the genre of urban fantasy, I got acquainted with this genre, having read a couple of articles and I can say with confidence that the picture justifies its handwriting. The action takes place in the city. The plot has a mystical element based on urban mythology. As well as carefully prescribed details and realities of the city to achieve credibility. 100% hit!
Humor. The comedy component is a pleasant haze accompanying the plot. Jokes are kind, easy. Honestly, in some moments I laughed, and in some moments the smile itself loomed from the touching message.
The cartoon is beautifully made, visually it is a riot of colors, and what beautiful panoramas! Development of animation at the highest level, well, what do you want when such masters take on the case? As for music, it does not stand out much, but there is still a magical motive.
"Forward" is a soulful movie that leaves behind a pleasant aftertaste. I recommend you watch this cartoon. You can do it yourself or with children.
Studio Pixar has established itself as a brand that already attracts viewers to the cinema by its name. Over the past 25 years, she has produced 21 cartoons, many of which have already become modern classics and virtually unattainable magnitudes. A studio that raised the bar of quality from project to project, making breakthroughs in animation, a studio that spoke, first of all, with a young audience on difficult and important topics in their language, not taking them for dummies who can be carried away by tinsel. Thanks to these stories, the adult viewer also found himself in these cartoons.
But over the years, competition began to grow, and the turn, when the masterpiece came out for the masterpiece, came to an end. This happened in 2010, after the release of the stunning in every sense of “Toy Story 3”, the ultimatum Pixar at the peak of its form.
Then there was an incomprehensible trilogy of unnecessary “Cars”, the tortured “Good Dinosaur” and optional, but good sequels “Finding Dory” and “Monster University”. All this signaled that the company is on a safe path, making sequels of already proven brands, periodically releasing original projects like Puzzle and Coco Mystery, which again reminded us of what this company is capable of and how it can inventively squeeze a tear out of you.
After two highly successful sequels of "The Super Family" and "Toy Story 4", Pixar released the cartoon "Go" with the original concept without reference to the franchise. Did the picture stand out from the rest of the studio projects and is it worth spending time on it? We'll find out now.
The cartoon tells us about a universe where there are magic, elves, unicorns and other magical creatures, the truth is that progress has taken with it all the necessary attributes for magic to be respected. Now there are smartphones, cars and the Internet. In this world lives a family of elves, grieving the loss of the head of the family. But on the birthday of one of the brothers everything took an unexpected turn, and the brothers need to go on an exciting adventure, after which there will be no way back.
The first half of the cartoon develops extremely standard and harnesses for quite a long time, after which the adventure itself to a certain point of the final works as a standard quest with checkpoints to find the necessary item for the story with woven plot elements that do not seem to carry a special semantic load, but by the last 15 minutes acquire weight and volume. And the story itself begins to work in a different plane, reaching the level of Pixar’s already classical and beloved works, when you are overwhelmed with emotions and feel the same catharsis from the finale.
Unfortunately, until this very moment you need to endure, “Forward” does not always keep the pace and by the middle begins to sag. The created universe itself is extremely interesting, but its potential is revealed dottedly, all the originality ends with the fact that smartphones replaced magic and at another spoiler moment.
Otherwise, I lacked the depth of the story and the more detailed disclosure of the main characters, for which you feel at least some empathy only towards the end. The story is moderately engaging with unobtrusive humor and stunning visualization.
“Forward” is very close to replenishing the ranks of Pixar’s passing works, it will not remain in memory for a long time. I always forgot the name of the movie, but I didn’t mention the names of my brothers. But the final draws the cartoon and in general is worth going to the cinema.

That rare case where ugly characters of homosexual orientation is quite appropriate.
It is worth noting that every year there are fewer films / cartoons in which destructive ideas are disguised with something positive, now everything goes frankly. And this cartoon did not stand out, judging by the trailer, family values here should be necrophilic spill. But I decided to take a look.
First of all, of course, the visual component is noticeable. Even in the trailer it was clear that this “magic” world is inhabited by the ugliest of the magical characters. It is clear what was done to degrade the viewer, but, oddly enough, here it is quite appropriate. After all, this is the most typical Western world, coinciding in all the smallest details. Where now actively promote such phenomena as zoophilia and cannibalism. So why should these degraders be portrayed with a beautiful appearance? But such unsightly creatures that have almost lost their human appearance, sometimes half-animals - it suits them very well (especially zoophiles, given allusions to the relationship of centaurs with human-like characters).
In the review of "Coco's Secret," I said that the "family values" of this studio are thoroughly imbued with necrophilia, deadness. Same here. In The Secret, the main character has the closest relationship with a dead ancestor (with two dozen living relatives). The whole movie is about dead dad. Depicted, by the way, is extremely humiliating when he is led on a leash like a dog, and in other episodes. The creators of the gloomy thriller “Frozen-2” in one interview honestly admitted that they are constantly called “parent killers”, “necrophile studio”, etc.
The reasons for this are obvious and not hidden. In order for white Europeans to die out, you cannot show complete families where children have good relationships with their parents. The relationship has to be disgusting, or someone has to be dead, like in this case. Standard, already boring reception. I don’t know why some adult viewers were sobbing. Especially against the background of a comical, humiliating image of non-dad. Another thing, kids. The gloomy ending (masked with false optimism) is clearly intended to drive the most depressing (ideally suicidal) moods into their heads. By the way, in the finale there was a curious clash of two main ideas of this studio. The idea of “a child is always right, parents/adults are stupid” came into clear contradiction with the idea of “only tough women can fight and save the world, inferior males should cowardly stand aside.” As a result, juvenile justice with a slight preponderance defeated femofascism. However, this partially compensates for the episode at the beginning, where my mother demonstrates judo techniques.
The moment where good is mixed with bad is only one. The main characters are typical youth gopniks (especially, which is hung with icons of some satanic rock bands and subcultures). Their level of intelligence, morality, etc. are well known, understandable by the slang they communicate here (in the original there is even more disgusting than in the Russian translation). And are they supposedly willing to perform feats to communicate with the dead dad? Don't be ridiculous. In reality, 99% of them are willing to kill their mom and dad if they don’t get a new gadget or fancy clothes. As well as ridiculed episodes with a commitment to ancient traditions, the protection of historical monuments. Which in reality such a public decorates with obscene inscriptions and obscene graffiti.
The magic component is traditionally gaping logical failures. I never understood why magic was better than technology. So two teenagers can make a disaster? What they couldn't do in a magical society where no one would let them do was push buttons on a nuclear reactor. Even hanging out in an abandoned factory, they could get the most out of chemicals, but not here. The authors clearly did not bother with the explanations, inserted the first thing that came to mind – “magic is difficult to learn.” Although here it was independently mastered in less than a day. Imagine, for example, how much knowledge and skill it takes to build a self-propelled boat in that cave without sorcery (even with materials and tools). For Gopniks like these, it's as unrealistic as building a spaceship. Therefore, “magic” here is synonymous with the word “freebies” (they say that before the world was filled with it, and then hard times came).
One of the main features of Onward was the noise around the character with a non-traditional orientation. But, as with appearance, this is quite appropriate. This character behaves emphatically uncharacteristic for his gender, is engaged in an uncharacteristic business and, of course, has a non-traditional orientation. How else? Previously, this obvious fact was denied for decades, since the appearance of such characters on the screen and in real life. And now he's recognized, and that's a plus. Complementing the repulsive appearance of the character (stands out even among the local freaks). You might think that everything else in modern cartoons is so wonderful and traditional. In a barrel of tar, an extra spoon is not very noticeable (where zoophilia is more prominent in the form of an elf and a centaur).
Moreover, all this destroys the well-known theory of the superiority of one sex over the other. According to which, the “upper” sex has a certain universality – it can dress and behave as you like, have any profession, while not falling into LGBT perversions (in fact, replacing both sexes, with equal success performing the functions of both). What defective subhumans from the opposite sex are not capable of - uncharacteristic for them clothing, profession, etc. always entails transgender deviations. But here we are shown that this is not so, there is no difference between the two. The same thing has recently been seen in superhero movies. Our myth filmmakers, directors Shallop and Druzhinin in one of their future films in 2021 want to show a character similar to the one here. But, of course, we will be told about his completely traditional orientation (according to the above theory of superiority). Only now much less people will believe it. For those pluses
Probably, after all, initially cartoons as an art form serve as a means for family holidays, and only then as a tool with which the authors convey additional meanings to the viewer. Animation is a powerful weapon that allows you to tell stories much more widely than a standard feature film, now series have approached them in this regard, but they are still far from the possibilities of “cartoons”. In addition to some original animation projects, the quality within the creations with meaning has always been maintained and maintained by Pixar, because Disney begins to sink in the pursuit of the dollar.
Dan Scanlon's "Go" is a film that will be welcomed by both adults and children. High-quality, cheerful, cute, funny animation, leading its narrative in a certain alternative world, where the inhabitants are a variety of fabulous creatures - from unicorns that wander the streets and dig in the garbage instead of stray dogs, and to elves, differing from the average person only by their characteristic ears and sleeping ability to sorcer. It should be noted that the world is thought out to the smallest detail, although its full disclosure suffers a little, where the main light from the spotlights is aimed at the brothers Ian and Barley. We get acquainted with the rest of the characters insofar as they are minimal, but at one point we realize that we do not need anything except a single family of elves, since their story eclipses everything else.
Two brothers lost their father early, and Ian never saw him. They have only a mother, and a stepfather-centaur-policeman, who seems to never become his own. Older Barley younger Ian is often shy because of care, which manifests itself even in public, at school. One day, on his 16th birthday, Ian receives an old magic staff, as it turns out, a hidden gift from his father, and a leaf with a spell that is intended for both brothers. If you read it with the necessary stress and feelings of the combination of words, Dad will be alive for 24 hours, and the guys will be able to spend time with him as they want. But it doesn’t happen as smoothly as you know, does it?
It is here that adventures begin according to the laws of an exciting game in the genre of quest or even rather RPG, where the main focus is on finding the necessary artifacts and solving cunning mysteries. But this is just like a edging, and the filling is the full development of relations between our two brothers-elves. At one point, while watching this project by Dan Scanlon, comes the understanding of one simple, but at the same time important truth – with an unbearable thirst to achieve what you have never had, you need to stop, look around, and carefully see what you already have, most likely, you do not need anything else.
“Onward” is a high-quality project with the right morality, which can both entertain its viewer, distract from everyday life, and push on sentiments that will remind you of some personal moments living inside you. “Forward” is a very warm cartoon, reminding that no one can be closer to your relatives, and it is important not to forget about them, neither under the pressure of consumerism, nor under the pressure of social degradation, nor under the pressure of universal evil. Family is where you can still be an elf and a wizard.
Even in the form of annotation, the new project of Pixar studio looked quite bold for a children's cartoon. However, do not forget about the main feature of the company - created once with the participation of George Lucas and Steve Jobs studio breakthrough at that time computer animation has always been distinguished by a subtle ability to talk to children on adult topics. So "Forward" in addition to the classic themes of the importance of family ties, unexpected and frightening growing up, self-determination and self-belief, this time raises a much more mature and controversial problem - the desire of the child to leave his parent.
However, in this sense, "Forward" is very similar to "The Mystery of Coco" (2017) from the same Pixar (and the theme of death seems to have grown to the company firmly - in the summer the next project of the studio - "Soul" is released, in which, judging by the teaser and annotations, it will again go about a kind of afterlife).
But back to today. The director of “Forward” Dan Scanlon (he was responsible for a very good cartoon “Monster University”) here is not just a hired artisan, but a real author – he was attached to the project from the beginning, in the credits is listed as the main screenwriter, and during the creation of the story was inspired, no less – memories of the loss of his own father and his relationship with his brother as a child.
The world in which the action takes place – with car centaurs, flightless fairies, “domestic” dragons and unicorns digging in garbage cans – is an example of a kind of Taoist coexistence of two mutually exclusive entities – a potential miracle looming nearby and a complete rejection of it.
Unlike the Eastern teachings, such a balance is not welcome by the authors of the film and the heroes-brothers Ian and Barley are called to shake the situation (they were voiced by the “avengers” Tom “Spider-Man” Holland and Chris “Star Lord” Pratt). The brothers embark on a dangerous journey when the youngest turns 16 years old (so to speak, “little adulthood”) – that is, on the very border of childhood and youth.
In this way, two methods of perceiving the world are fighting in "Forward" - the desire for a fairy tale (which often becomes principled and openly passionate) and an adult, mature perception of reality. And the apologists of the first in the end are not only children (although the cherished spark of faith in the supernatural - in (sorry, God) the wisdom of ancestors, stored in them). However, for the sake of justice, the motive of excessive concern for the departed nature (as a consequence - retrograde) is presented by the creators not only in the form of exceptional virtue, but also as a form of social infantilism.
From the amazing journey of the brothers to meet with their deceased father, a kind of baddy road movie with car pilgrimage through fairy tale America, brotherly love and magical adventures, as well as an important, but for many (often for personal and tragic reasons) unacceptable morality that no death can become more significant than life.
The disadvantages of the cartoon begin where the necessary and important idea had to be properly dressed up in movie clothes. Children’s animation, for obvious reasons, has never been distinguished by its substantive revolutionary nature, and new trends often reached this genre last (the plot scheme with the Magic Journey, in general, is one of the oldest “templates” for building a story, originating from myth-making).
Such “traditionality” in the case of “Forward” begins to frankly irritate – whatever you say, but any experienced moviegoer gradually intuitively learns the main narrative “stages” of the classic plot, and to submit bronze techniques with the help of the same tools of a large Oscar-winning studio still do not fit. Scenario, and accordingly - one of the most important, the verdict remains, after all, disappointing - "Forward" is too predictable, and its plot instead of an amazing adventure is much more often just glides along long-paved and safe rails.
Even enemies encountered on the way of the heroes - aggressive fairies, dragons-policemen and even mother's suitor-centaur can not sufficiently stir up the action.
By the way, the most combative in "Forward" are not the main characters, but, of course, the ladies. Among them, the mother-elfikha, who fearlessly rushes to the aid of her children, and the once formidable warrior, and now the mistress of the Manticore diner (a mythical cross between a lion and a scorpion) and those very fighting fairy bikers (in the original version of the cartoon, some of them are openly mentioned about the homosexuality - in Russian localization, such things, of course, were hidden behind a refined dubbing).
And in this sense, "Forward" turns out to be a much more consistent companion of feminism than many "live-action" paintings that positioned loyalty to the ideas of emancipation as one of their main advantages - because the carriers of unconditional power in "Forward" (unlike the same "Birds of Prey") are not attractive young women in model outfits, but mature and masculine women who do not tolerate pretenses.
Thinking about the reasons for the dramatic failure of “Forward”, it is possible to identify suspects of such disrespect for the audience. Namely, it is likely that the creators of Pixar are poorly influenced by the giantomaniac ambitions of the Disney Corporation, which in recent years has turned into a media syndicate of completely Gargantuan dimensions. After all, the boldness of the scripts, the Disney animation department was almost never different. In that case, Pixar bosses should discuss greater freedom for their employees.
After all, although the quality of computer graphics of the cartoon, as well as its other technical advantages do not find fault even if you want, in the end we have only a very good, but not an outstanding film of the cult studio, from which we expected much more. Of course, it will work to compete with most of the competitors at Forward, but it is unlikely to remain in our hearts forever, as the recent Puzzle and Coco Mysteries (not to mention the recognized classics of the studio) once did.

We finally saw the first original work of this studio in a couple of years! Their last original work was released in 2017 - 'The Secret of Coco'. The rest of it is only weak sequels, to which I am skeptical. 'In Search of Dory' maybe a good cartoon, but it is clearly weaker than the original, it does not send a message to the audience, and the story has become quite primitive and not interesting. With the Super-family, those problems are boring, there is nothing new and interesting here, the villain is much worse, again there is no sending to the audience, just Disney decided to earn extra money on the excellent original. I absolutely hate Toy Story 4 because it’s so commercially calibrated and uninteresting that I think it’s the worst of Pixar. They turned the characters of all the characters, brought in the wrong villain, and the ending was the most terrible of all! Cars 3 only kept pretty good, there were a lot of good moments, and there was morals. I don’t think this film is a masterpiece, but it’s a good cartoon, it brings something new. Quite a nice setting brings the film uniqueness, but there are clearly no flaws and holes in the plot.
Plot:
In fact, the director told the audience his biography - he also died at an early age, and he showed all the drama of characters who pass certain arches in their development and they want to empathize. In general, there was a magical world in which there were many sorcerers who, with their surprise, helped various inhabitants with magic, but gradually new and modern technologies began to appear, and wizards became less and less until they all disappeared. But one elf was fascinated by the theme of magic and could be said to have become a wizard. He soon died, but he had a wife and two sons, one of whom did not catch him. Once they were able to find a staff and a spell that can return it for a day and their quest begins.
Main characters:
Yes, they are quite typical representatives of the characters, but the film was able to make them something amazing that it was not at all striking and in their own way they were interesting. One of them is a typical and shy guy who is afraid to talk to his peers and misses a father he hasn’t even seen. He is not afraid of anything, sometimes he acts like a clown, loves history and magic. At first glance, it may seem like he’s just part of the comedy of this movie, but he’s not – he has his own arch, he’s going through his development and there’s drama with him. And the head characters will be legs, Carl! And you can make a separate comedy with them!
Secondary Heroes:
The brothers' mom is cool and part of that story, which is also very important. Manticore (a hybrid of a lion with a scorpion) is also pretty cool, and a police officer named Colt I also liked.
Visual:
You don't even have to talk about him. Made very high quality and beautiful! Many beautiful landscapes, water as real. True Elves, Unicorns, Goblins and other residents are made cartoon, but it still looks very fresh.
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere of this magical land is wonderfully conveyed through animation, characters and a cool setting. More like a continuation of the Lord of the Rings in modern times.
Soundtrack:
It's cool, what else to say. But mostly it is only melodies, but a list of specific songs I could not find.
Bottom line: this is a small but still a masterpiece! It shows everything perfectly! The film can break even a tear, the truth was not with me, but still... Let Pixar continue in the same spirit and give birth to as many original projects as possible!

P.S. this year will also release another original from the project - 'Soul'. We’ll see what they show, but in the trailer, I think we’ll have another great cartoon!
“Forward” is another animated film from PIXAR studio, which turned out, perhaps not perfect, but definitely a great project. This time, the studio decided to invest in advertising at a minimum, resulting in small fees. Many people have not even heard of the existence of this cartoon, which is actually sad. He deserves the attention of the public. Let's start in order.
1. Plot.
The plot is quite simple and there are not enough stars from the sky. "Forward" does not try to show something new, but uses previously established family film templates. The story revolves around a family of elves, who are forced to go on a journey. To the end it seems that the cartoon will not be able to surprise anything, but the ending still managed. She is incredibly soulful, emotional and reveals the idea of the cartoon by one hundred percent.
2. Characters.
Let's start with the main characters. Ian and his brother Barley. These two characters turned out to be very lively and interesting, from which I want to empathize with them. Ian is an extremely insecure teenager who fears a lot, his brother is the exact opposite. The chemistry between the characters turned out to be excellent, which increases empathy for them during the adventure. The secondary characters are also very good, each moving the story forward. They are interesting and reveal this unusual world filled with magic.
3. The visual component.
You can see that the studio has already saved. Unlike the same recent toy story, where computer graphics cannot be distinguished from reality in some places, we will not see this in this cartoon. But it still looks at the level. You don’t feel like watching a cheap project, but I would like to see the magic of this world in all its glory.
4. Dubbing.
The dub is good. Each voice fits well with the characters. During the review, the hearing did not cut, which is already good. There is nothing more to say here.
As a result, we can say that the cartoon came out great. A very kind and sometimes funny film that will please both adults and children. “Forward” raises the idea of family values, upbringing and relationships between relatives. Which she does just fine. Initially, my score was lower, but the ending was able to raise it by a point higher.

Disney lost one of its most original and cool studios, the Pixar.
Don't get it wrong, the film itself, very average, perhaps, if it came not from ' Pixar', but from the Indian studio ' - then it would be good, but somehow shameful and stupid, that is, to see such ' product' from the studio that gave us ', ' Puzzle', 'ToyHistory' etc., it is all very significant products, as well as something like that is important and the same in the family, as overturning itself, for example, 3#39; #39, it is so bad; #########39, it's just to take it's own, too much of the world, ' bightoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Why is 'Go' a very average project?
The problem of the cartoon goes through all the factors of the same ' cartoon' because we have the leitmotif at the level - the family is bad, the brothers are not friends, the main character is a shy loser who is ashamed of his brother. The film is not even trying to be something, there are so many Chekhov guns that are read by perhaps even a 13-year-old, because they are so obvious and stupid that they look painfully funny. By the middle, it gets so annoying that you involuntarily think, is this really a Pixar?
The plot is also bad. The plot, well, it's for the tick, because it's so average that it works for Pixar. In short and without spoilers: in a family of 4 people, a father dies, who leaves a way to resurrect him for one day - and this method the family finds in n-time (10-15 years), also all this happens in the magical (!!!) world. On paper, everything sounds cool and unusual: wow, a family drama with an admixture of magic, cool as it is, but in fact - this plot could be transferred anywhere, and whatever you want, because magic there, well, maybe 10-15 minutes of screen time - it is simply not used ' as you have such a huge world, and you spend it on what to shoot ' Another drama about discord in the family' well, seriously.
According to the drawing / graphics to ' Pixar' there have never been questions, always high-quality and cool, but with each new film - as if you get used to and get bored, it looks like if they found the formula and use it until the audience is a lump in the throat.
There is also nothing to say about the music, because it is so simple that it is not noticeable, it also begins to get very bored closer to the middle of the film. You listen to it and tell yourself straight - ' Oh, another generic ost for movies - epic 2010 wow', so funny it is already.
Special mention ' worthy' ' excellent' localization of this film. Not so long ago, raised 'butchu' that the film has a lesbian character - which is why Milonov and similar people - demanded to ban the film for distribution. Our distributors made a lot more fun - they just carved out the entire arch of this character - so when she appears in the movie on, um, 2 minutes can? It looks so stupid that respect for such localization is 0.
Instead of the result: complete disappointment, instead of a fence story about magic - we have another drama about the family, which is quite tired, especially from ' Pixar' who, that is not a film, the parent is dead, or problems in the family - a beaten topic already, well seriously. The session also showed trailers of other projects that 'Disney' that 'Pixara' - it's funny that the studio, which was previously so original, its projects were waiting for everyone, now releases films as if from the assembly line, because two films a year for the Pixar - it's strong. That film is called 'Soul' if it is 'average' then 'Pixar' is officially dead.
Pixar has always been famous for its excellent cartoons for all categories of viewers. With a chic 3D animation, a good story, humor, which does not feel a sense of Spanish shame, morality and ending, which begins to pinch in the eyes. After the masterpieces 'Secrets of Coco' and 'Puzzles' I have established an impenetrable credibility for this studio, given that they manage to do unnecessary sequels with the soul.
From the studio, which made the world’s first full-length animated film with three-dimensional animation, you expect nothing but a magnificent smooth and detailed picture. I don’t see any reason to stay here for long.
The story in the cartoon is simple, but well-represented, logical, not contradicting the laws of its universe, giving a sense of the adventure that it should be.
Characters feel real personalities with their cockroaches, behavior and charisma. They are not shown too one-sidedly, each is given a certain amount of timekeeping. Separately, I want to highlight the duo of the main characters. Throughout the work, their chemistry is revealed through heartfelt conversations, quarrels and reconciliations, together experienced adventures, giving a small touch of road-movie.
' Forward' in the style of the studio'Pixar' turned out to be an excellent family cartoon, during which no one will feel deprived. There is something to laugh about, something to be sad about. In the picture, the action develops quite dynamically, looks easy, and some moments the action captures more than many superhero films.
Pixar’s work against the background of other filmmakers stands out with its soul. You can see how much love they are created by talented studio workers who managed to maintain their independence under the wing of Disney (see what happened to Lucas film). Their cartoons are a sample of the new classics & #39, which will be remembered years later with a pleasant sense of nostalgia and thoughts about what used to be better. 'Forward' no exception. Nothing new, though.
This film shows the so-called “Urban Fantasy”. This cartoon will be easier to describe as Brightness for children, but the content, as in many other films from Pixar, there are quite unchildish references. The world here is not open enough, but it is clear that it is well thought out.
The plot of the cartoon presents the story of growing up, diluted with a parody of the world of sword and magic, but there is something else.
The fact is that the film still shows that not just elves are depicted, but their dark counterparts known in Fantasy circles as "Drow" - "Dark". According to the system, Dungeon and Dragons and many other settings are representatives of black magic. Proof of this is their pale skin color, characteristic of the drow, and the very magic that is spoken of in the film.
This magic is actually black magic. In the story, two sons find a staff and with its help try to revive the dead father. This branch of magic has long been known as necromancy, an integral part of black magic, not typical of ordinary elves. Moreover, in the same city, they get along with such creatures as trolls and goblins, initially evil spirits in Germanic and Scandinavian mythology, and generally malevolent races in many fantasy universes. Their pet is a fire-breathing snake, which is a canonical example of dark elves living in dungeons with dragons. The monster Manticore also acts as an ally in their city, and is not at all aggressive towards them. As for the corruption and lust characteristic of this race, the mother of the Elve brothers is cared for by a centaur. I think it's a bit strange and more a deviation than the norm. There are still many indications that these heroes are essentially evil elves, most fans of the genre will probably notice this.
In general, this cartoon for fans of the genre may seem superficial, but if you pay attention to the hidden details, knowing the DND universe, it will not seem as childish as expected.
The story of growing up is banal. Most of the characters of elves have features that are not elves at all. The history of the world is not fully revealed, nor is the story of the father himself.
5 out of 10
Only for the graphics and hidden meaning, which is not noticeable to everyone.
Disappeared vague alarm,
Every step will be easier.
It's a beautiful road,
One star, but like a magician. (A. Bolutenko)
It seemed that Pixar has long established itself as a great animated studio, capable of any achievement. But in order to do this, do not fire, not everyone can show such persistence! And it is not in the world of magic, which has long lost this string of magic, not in blue elves or dogs-unicorns, grappling from the tanks. This cartoon is certainly good, but the most attractive is the morality of the picture - courage.
Brothers Ian and Barley Lightfood are not similar to each other. One brave, so much too much. The other is afraid on the way to growing up and when he tries to prove himself in business, he is constantly being bullied by the annoying Barley (Chris Pratt). But what not to take away from an unreasonable strongman is the craving for the past. And one fateful day in the hands of Ian (Holland) is an ancient staff of a sorcerer, who returns the life of the Pope ... but not to the end. Now the brothers are forced to embark on an adventure that will help reveal their capabilities from a completely new side, where magic plays an important role.
Creator Dan Scanlon was inspired by the last audio recordings of “Hello” and “Bye” left by his father and scrolled after his death. I think he had a hard time breaking up with him, that he decided to express it in two funny elves and a new project. In the cartoon, he also did not limit the ability to listen to tapes using a Barley tape recorder. There are a lot of funny situations with the car. Do not turn on the air conditioner or it will blow away!
In addition, the animated film is not complete without references: the spells were similar to the magical world of J.K. Rowling, the Barley maps on the contrary resemble “Dungeon and Dragons” – a wonderful animated series of my childhood. There is a similarity with Monster University, primarily due to the combination of the ordinary world and animals / creatures: there are rabid unicorns, and there are three-headed monster pigeons. Here's the story! Also in the new creation of Disney shows funny moments that are impossible to look with irony. You may not laugh, because the plot breathes more drama, but certainly in some places will cause a smile.
I've been waiting for the gay joke, it turns out the expectations were in vain. Not all people (or cyclops) decide to adopt or start a family. So the female heroine Spectrum - cyclopikha-cop showed that she is a pleasant heroine who does not have the opportunity for normal happiness. The heroine Lina Waite struck with her insightful dialogue with the pseudo-colt Bronso.
I liked fairy bikers who finally learned to fly, and of course Manticore Korea performed by the incomparable Octavia Spencer thanks to the advice of one hero, she decided to return to glorious exploits. Each character is an allusion to our everyday life. We're too lazy to live on our own. Instead of getting in the car, jogging from home to work, or walking, we make our existence even more difficult by diving into consumption. The worst thing is that we lost faith in ourselves and our abilities, and the desire for a miracle. We have ceased to be a miracle.
Enough of sitting within four walls, it's time for all of us to look for a dream. Fight, suffer and always win. Do not be afraid of obstacles, be interesting, overcome laziness, become wonderful again. Go ahead and don’t give up, everything will be great!
You're a wizard, Ian, and the other adventures of Bella Swan.
Two brothers Ian and Barley live in a world inhabited by different mythical creatures. On the 16th anniversary, the brothers receive a magical staff, which was inherited from their late father. With the help of a staff, they try to get their father back, but something goes wrong and the brothers have 24 hours to fix it.
I'll start with a good one. PIXAR has established itself as an island of creativity in the lair of a big authoritarian mouse, which is now Disney. PIXAR owns some of my favorite cartoons, such as Toy Story, Taino Coco, Monsters Corporation, Valli. And on the one hand, I see creativity, I see an interesting new world, populated by unusual and unique characters. I see beautiful graphics, which in general you expect to see in the work of the studio. And on the other hand, I see a rather boring story and a character that I have seen countless times in one form or another.
And the main character for me is the main problem of the cartoon. This is not the only problem, but the most striking. What do we have? Ian's character is a typical cardboard character - he is timid, indecisive, has a complete lack of personality and unique traits, and, of course, as we learn after a short acquaintance with him - he is special (chosen, savior, wizard, special kind of heroin, troll hunter, key seeker, divergent, dragon rider, one who sees voids, something about a prophecy that needs to be emphasized). He's boring, faceless and totally uninteresting. He is so pathetic that he is not able to invite children who are clearly kind to him on his birthday. He is ashamed of his brother, ashamed of himself, constantly whines and gives up after the first failure. And you know why? He was born after the death of his father and did not know him. And that, of course, makes all his problems! Disney couldn’t do without a dead parent. This is not a cliché, but a tribute to tradition! Ian has a cult around his father, and that’s really all we learn about him. Replacing the creators of Ian with a wooden stick with a face painted on it, nothing would have changed. I understand that with such a character, completely devoid of personality, it is easier to work. You can throw him into the thick of events and show the viewer all his specialness and suddenly revealed talents in all their glory. And the peculiarity of the guy has, and that's the second big problem of the film.
In the plot, all magical creatures have left magic in the past, since magic is wildly difficult, and progress-electricity-burgerking taxes are simple, and the development of society has gone down the path of least resistance, leaving all the magic in fairy tales and legends. I remind you, magic is difficult in this world, and that's why, in less than a day, our Ian completely masters it! Whether because it is so special, or because the writers chose to close their eyes to this plot hole. And I am inclined to the second option, because in history there are still elves who did not fly or fly and suddenly flew, and a mandrake that for years did not warm up its wings, sitting in the kitchen and preparing nuggets, but without problems, if necessary, to promote the plot, rose into the air.
I would never believe that in a world where a boring, talentless teenager can master magic in a day, everyone has abandoned it and created a society identical to ours.
I genuinely don’t understand why I’ve been fed over and over again a dull character with no personality, rather than a character like Barley. He is sincere, passionate, open, he is not ashamed of himself and is not afraid to talk about what he likes and defend what he believes in. He is passionate about magic and understands it, but the gift, of course, is Ian. He sometimes drifts, but open to everything new, never gives up and is ready to sacrifice the most valuable for the sake of his family. That's why you can't make him a centerpiece, why not tell a story about him? But no, all the way the film presents us Barley as a hopeless, complete disappointment, no other way.
I'm tired of characters like Ian being lazy, unworked, gray and annoying. Why are they stamped? To make it easier for children to associate themselves with such heroes-clean list? Look boy, even if you are boring, dull and uninteresting, maybe you are special?
Don't know. I have mixed feelings about this job. The touching finale corrected the impression a little, but completely did not correct the situation.

It has long been no secret that the former greatness of the cinematic and animation studio Disney absolutely lost with the advent of the new century. Behind a string of swashbuckling superheroics and useless remakes, only the Pixar animation studio keeps a wooden dried raft afloat, smeared with bright paint. Almost every year, everywhere, both adults and children pay attention to the soulful projects of the company, the main goal of which is still not making money (although this is also the case), but an example for the younger generation and reminding the adult generation of true values that are so easy to forget because of the urban bustle.
This is exactly the product that appears in the current repertoire of local cinemas. The cartoon “Forward” presents us with a very ordinary world, in the guise of which, instead of people, many different mythological creatures are placed. A kind of parallel with the reverse side of technological progress, when it became easier to press the switch than to conjure fire. Now all magical abilities fade into the background in favor of simplicity and comfort. Does it sound like anything?
The plot is not going to throw everything at once, but concentrates on the family of elves, in which everything changes dramatically with the gift of the departed father on the 16th anniversary of his son. In order to return a close elf to the material world for one day, the two brothers decide to set out on an unexplored quest for the hidden “stone of reality.” Another strong moral goes with Ian and Barley all the way - what we've been looking for so long is always there for us. Ian was looking for attention and love, so he wanted to see his father for once, but didn’t realize that all this time, he already had an elf who loved and supported him every minute. The creators gave a very strong meaning, making the viewer experience various emotions: from sadness to tenderness.
However, against the background of several serious emotional connotations, the rest of the saturation is slightly blurred. Including a very diverse world, which required much more disclosure than a few fairies and a couple of fauns. Such a weak development is directly related to the scarcity of the elements of the Broad Movie, when the characters must come together through additional obstacles along the way to the cherished goal. From the locations we see only a visit to the tavern, gas station, and all the rest of the time, we observe a sincere trip of the brothers, which is occasionally supported by a mad pursuit from evil creatures.
The situation is saved by the interaction of brothers who together do a common cause, understand mysteries, learn new achievements, and just have fun with each other. Their traits affect each other in their own way and cause them to grow into something more - to draw from the flaws of the peculiarity. This action is quite transformed from humor, which was often in place. I’ve always admired the ability to insert black humor into my childhood. And here, he's good again. In addition to him, there are jokes for the smart, as well as the most immediate comic situations from which the main characters have to get out.
Oh, yeah. The animation is as good as ever. Follow the developing droplets of water, or the villi of magical creatures pleasure not only for children, but also for adult eyes.
Go is once again a soulful and meaningful adventure from Pixar that isn’t afraid to be itself. This is exactly the case when pleasant drama supersedes the endless entertainment, taking away the small necessary surplus. During the session, I got a little bored with the monotony, but the friendly and kind relations of teenagers made me feel.
Once upon a time, magical creatures – trolls, fairies, centaurs, mermaids and others – did everything with the help of magic, but technological progress does not stand still, so even they have become more convenient to use the benefits of civilization than to use their magical abilities. Elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot's life changes when, on Ian's 16th birthday, their mother Laurel hands them a magic staff that their father asked to give them, shortly before his death. Ian wants to see a father he's never met. Magic returns to the world again, but you need to handle it skillfully, otherwise it may not help, but harm.
A new animated story from the creators of the Oscar-winning “Toy Story 4” is filled with original characters, unexpected plot twists, both funny and dramatic scenes. Currently, the film market is filled with sequels, prequels and restarts of already known and beloved franchises, so the appearance of original projects is doubly pleasing. Like all Pixar cartoons, this picture is not without a moral component. It makes every viewer think and pay attention to those around us, the loved ones that we have.
I was able to see the painting in the original. So I can say that Tom Holland and Chris Pratt did a great job of voicing their characters. Ian (Tom Holland) is a humble and kind guy who lacks the courage to take control of his life. Barley (Chris Pratt) is the exact opposite of him - assertive, self-confident, adoring role-playing. Octavia Spencer brilliantly voiced Manticore - an ancient creature who knows the secrets of curses.
If you draw analogies with other paintings, then watching the picture inspired me the saga “Lord of the Rings” and the series “Disappointment”. Adventure and magic are the main components of the picture. There is a lot of humor in the film, but there is also a dramatic component. All the characters are original and memorable.
“Forward” is a beautiful animated story about the need to appreciate those who are nearby and that the world needs the magic that is stored in each of us. A touching story for the whole family. A great way to go to the cinema during the holidays.
ONWARD is another solid project from P.I.X.A.R. I would not say that the masterpiece, and that all expectations were fulfilled too. To begin with, this is also an atypical cartoon for the studio. That is, I can’t even think of an association with any of the released Pixar projects. But I wouldn't say it's that bad. The cartoon is very good! Maybe it doesn’t have something super-genius that would make me watch this movie over and over again, but definitely it also has amazing animation, interesting story, cool characters and most importantly – it’s ideologically brilliant.
To make everything clear and clear, I will now scatter everything on the items.
1. So... Scenario
The plot, briefly... It all revolves around two Elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot. They live in a magical world inhabited by creatures that are characteristic of them. The world used to be full of magic and wonder, but now it is not. But all until a certain point, until they receive a gift from his father, who for a day can bring him back to life. But something is going wrong, and they have to go through a certain quest for them to succeed.
As I said, history doesn’t stand out from the crowd. There is nothing unpredictable or new about it. But still, this does not negate the fact that it is interesting, kind, sincere and touching. The movie is just insanely moving! There are various ideological messages in it. The problems of fathers and children, family support and how important it is in life are revealed. And the creators have shown it with such precision, realism and plausibility that it is bribery. They not only showed all this in detail, but also hit exactly the target, causing emotions.
What about the main characters? That's great, too. Ian & Barley opens up perfectly. They are completely different, but this does not prevent them from getting along well with each other. Ian is initially indecisive and timid. Barley, on the contrary, is open and bold. You understand their problems, you really want to empathize with them. We will learn everything we can from this project. We have their backgrounds, we know their motives, their views, how they came to such conclusions. We know their family problems, which makes the tape more sincere and soulful. And all this is accompanied by quite good humor from above.
Yes, the film also has flaws. For example, with the disclosure of the other characters somehow not so good, the actions of some also make you think about their reasonableness in those conditions. And it's impossible not to notice. But anyway, against the general background, this may get lost and will not be critically accurately perceived, the final impression will not be particularly affected.
But in general: the script, although not brilliant, is still good and strong. It has everything you need to get sincere emotions and pleasure from watching in general.
2. Voiceover (Duplicate)
I thought that dubbing would cut my ears too much for some reason, but everything came out at the highest level.
Phil Lebedev is a true professional in his field! His voice suited Ian perfectly. All of his feelings and emotions are perfectly conveyed. As for Vladimir Yaglych, I had my doubts about him. The fact is that Chris Pratt’s voice in this film (and in many others) is not as low as Jaglych’s. Because of this, when watching, I just had a severe dissonance. But in the end, it all went well.
Yulia Menshova voiced Laurel Lightfoot, which in general was very good. At the promo, everything was not very good again, but the whole product came out at the level. How can I forget the wonderful Anna Ardoba? What an incredible actress she is! And she dubbed just the same amazing Octavia Spencer. Both in the original and in the dubbing, Manticore sounds just amazing. With a bit of humor and self-irony.
In other words, dubbing at height. There is nothing to add.
3. Animation
It seems to me that the paragraph will be extremely short... The animation is flawless! It's DISNEY/PIXAR, so what else can you expect from professionals of this level? In the market, they lead in the animation study of paintings. So it is not surprising that this tape looks beautiful and amazing!
4. Atmosphere
That's okay, too. Interesting from the first minutes, the whole picture keeps the viewer in mind. Everything is bright, epic, touching, soulful and funny. This is influenced by the soundtrack from Michael and Jeff Danna, which created a certain lamp, coziness. It looks easy, the tape brings out feelings. Well, concludes this whole "QUEST" "Carried Me With You" by Brandi Carlile, which also creates a relaxed entourage on the credits.
Bottom line:
"Forward" is just a great cartoon! It has an interesting and touching story, perfectly revealed main characters, excellent animation, a good soundtrack, a good atmosphere and dubbing at the level. And even with some drawbacks, the cartoon does not cease to be good. Yes, it may not be another masterpiece from P.I.X.A.R., but he is not trying to be. This is not a very typical picture for the studio. So do not overestimate your expectations to the level of “COCO”, otherwise you risk not having fun. It is clear that there will still be some expectations, because there is simply an unrealistic huge credit of trust to Pixar people, and you are constantly waiting for something from the category: “Surprise me!”. We need to do this within a reasonable framework.
The cartoon is definitely worth the attention. For some, this animated picture will even be vital and will definitely break through the flow of various feelings.
