I definitely recommend watching this spy detective with notes of comedy and drama.
A brief introduction: the main character works as a flight attendant, boozes around different countries after flights, boozes on board during flights, is easy to climb and one-time sex and, most terrible, does not wash off cosmetics before going to bed.
Where does this behavior lead girls like Cassie? Of course, to premature aging and a wild hangover with a dead man in bed. This is expected to turn the life of the heroine. She cannot help but unravel the tangle of secrets surrounding her current position as a suspect (primarily herself) in the murder.
Well, it is clear red, not just because she uses a lot of high-grade drinks, there is a large pile of unresolved psychological problems from childhood. They, by the way, Cassie tries to solve self-help: conversations with the alter ego and a dead lover, visualizations, again alcohol and a civil murder investigation.
The main character is played by Kaley Cuoco (Penny from the “Big Bang Theory”), she is also the producer of the series. Secondary heroes are also spelled out perfectly, all have their own skeleton in their luggage. The killers in the show are stylish! These are the ones who become your favorites no less than the main characters.
I often decide whether to watch the series or kick it out of my life, it is when evaluating the opening. In the "Flight attendant" it is receptive, juicy, atmospheric and memorable: you immediately read the tension, confusing plot, style and dynamics of the narrative. Not only for the visual but also for the musical part.
Big flight theory. A girl with a suitable figure wanders on airplanes around the world. She does not have the same life as the domestic flight attendants. I personally still can not forget one flight in an economy plane on a non-tourist route, which was used by not the richest of our compatriots. And the plane was loaded. And there were flight attendants, typical, you know, like in the cafeterias of the USSR: powerful women, who all the way pulled carts with food with an impenetrable face, etc. There were no photo models.
I can't help it. Like in TBV, the main actress was often teased even by screenwriters, forcing her to beat the character of a failed actress, or something. In reality, the main actress of that series was also not successful, except for the Big Bang Theory. Well, for our girl, this role is really breakthrough in every sense: not to say that it is successful, but breakthrough, because she plays a really main role here, not one of ... and the movie is watchable (not mega wow, but you can watch). The trailer, in my opinion, when I saw it once there ... was cooler than the series itself, as I now understand.
Unfortunately, Kaley Cuoco doesn’t have the charisma for our role. Sometimes she overplays, sometimes she doesn’t play, sometimes she plays like that, but there is no stability, but there is a kind of diligence. Here it should be noted that the plot here is much more interesting ... and he pulls the actress's game behind him. Of course, if I was put in front of Kaylie right now and forced to repeat it with the translator, then I probably would hush up, fall underground and run away, making a dig far away ... But I am in Russia, there is freedom of speech, and no one from the United States can get me yet, so I say, as encrypted as possible, anything on the KP (while they give).
_
The plot drags the whole film with all his sins (as Jesus said, who is without sin...). Everyone is sinful, so no one will throw a slipper at you if you suddenly (like certain YouTube videos) start blaming the film for sins. There is something from Bond in the script (even the screensaver of the series was styled as one of the best screensavers of the credits I have seen recently), there is something from the typical Hitchcock (unexpected surprises are not trivial), even the music here as part of the script is intriguing. For some reason, I even think of Big Little Lies.
Directing and cinematography. All these transitions between the past, present, otherworldly, mental, even childhood of the main character - genius in something. Dexter looks like something new.
There are professions whose representatives can never say that they can be at least theoretically dysfunctional, suffer from depression, suffer from all sorts of marginal vices and diseases. Flight attendants - stewards and flight attendants - are among these people, and, perhaps, that is why in the series dedicated to human vices, the main character is exactly a representative of this professional community. So the series conveys to its viewer that the problems of the social bottom are closer than they seem, and also creates an interesting contrast between appearance and reality. In the second season of “Standwives”, it would seem, the main problem of the heroine has already been defeated, however, the very fact of its presence proves that we, like her, are deeply mistaken about the nature of her misfortunes, and, therefore, we just need these 8 series of vacillating reflection and searching for answers to questions posed to ourselves.
The starting point of the second season of “Standwives” is not only “new” Cassie, but also her new kind of activity that determines the nature and plot development of these series. However, the spy line of escape and, at the same time, the pursuit of your double is not so much adventure and detective, as metaphorical, since it means the need to understand yourself and to some extent defeat yourself. Remarkably, alcohol, while playing an important role in Cassie's story, increasingly appears to be a symptom of her condition rather than a cause, whereas her hallucinations say much more about it. The set of own "I" in these shots testify not so much to the incoherence of the heroine as to her propensity for radicalism and extremes, when from these sharp corners one single integral personality cannot form. So the second season of the series for its main character is the way to yourself, as evidenced by the finale of its plot, summing up both the adventure line and the related personal theme. However, if from the point of view of comparisons and metaphors, the "Staff Conductor" is done well, then in terms of at least some logical conclusions it is weaker, since the spy story and Cassie's related problems, at most, can lead to the idea of the need for honesty and self-acceptance, which seems somewhat superficial and boring, even extremely relevant for the main character.
Aside from Cassie Bowden and her million problems, the second season touches almost as much on the fate of her friend Meghan, whose example “The Flight attendant” shows her priorities, according to which justice can be more important than law. The series allows for the possibility of a second chance even for seriously stumbled people, but this does not mean that such a right is unconditional: The flight attendant severely punishes Meghan for her misconduct, thereby showing that the right to redemption should be deserved. To some extent, we can agree with this position of the authors of the series, since not always possible legal punishment is comparable to a crime and does not always seem to apply to the perpetrator, but on the other hand, the series, thereby, allows inequality before the law for people, depending on their background. In addition, the heroine, who has gone through various trials, does not seem to be aware of her mistake, and regret for it is caused only by the consequent domestic inconveniences. Thus, the merit of her right to forgiveness is far from indisputable.
Despite the espionage nature of the main storyline of the second season of “Staffconductress”, as a detective story it is written rather weakly. In the series, something happens all the time, and it is something eternally connected with something, but any clues are more like chasing a shadow, since the fragments do not form the original picture. What opens up in the season finale is something disappointing in its banality and simplicity. All the beauty and “curls” of circumstances are not worth what they were woven into the plot. If we talk about the final, it would be better not to be, because in its absurdity he spoils the good that in the second season was.
There are a few things that made it hurtful to watch the show, and the main thing is the story of Annie and Max. It's pretty sad to see the high-profile lawyer from season one behaving like a freak and a loser with problems no less than her friend Cassie, especially since such a radical change doesn't seem sufficiently justified. In addition, it is a shame for Cassie herself, since, in addition to general spy trials, the heroine is left with too radical losses, which does not seem fair.
Nervous, restless, hysterical series about the same main character in its second season turned out to be good, but definitely weaker than in the first, the main reason for which is the lack of study of the main plot puzzle, which should keep the audience from the screen even more than Cassie’s interesting psychological problems. However, at any moment of viewing there is no desire to abandon him, which is already good, and the main character with all her bums does not cause disgust. At the same time, although, theoretically, there may be another million seasons, it is not very clear what to talk about next, since Cassie’s soul has already been so much digging that it seems that enough is already enough.
I think that at least 80 percent of the viewers of this series around the world are fans of the big bang theory who want to see the actress in a new role. And it could be the same role, fans would grumble out loud, but to themselves rejoiced. But here is a completely new story and a new image.
It’s no secret that all actors are looking for roles. Someone meets with producers for this, someone calls directors once a week, and someone waits for manna from heaven. Kaley Cuoco didn't wait for a good role to fall out of the sky. She saw The Flight Attendant and thought she could play the role like no one else. It remains to be seen if anyone has already bought the rights. Either way, Reese Witherspoon has already done it (no). In order for the deal to take place, it was necessary to register the company - Kayleigh also did not hesitate, she named it after her dog Norman. But most likely, this name was already taken, so the company has a beautiful name Yes Norman.
And here we go. Shooting for HBO. Contracts, location search, director, band, executive producer and all that. The lead role. Covid.
The title of the series is very well translated into Russian. Not a flight attendant, but a flight attendant is a broader concept, because they not only carry food, they really have training that simulates a fire in an airplane, their lives depend on their work, they settle conflict situations at an altitude of 10,000 meters above the ground. And, we can say, our heroine the whole series expands its powers, investigating a mysterious murder in a hotel.
The form of the series is very multifaceted: it is flashbacks from different points of view, and polyscreens, and a conversation with a dead hero with a slit throat. After all, a good plot in a book does not always mean a good series, the text should be supported by a strong visual number.
The first episode, she's the pilot who takes us through the story. Here you need to set all the conflicts, talk about all the main characters and hang the intrigue. He looks at one breath and immediately realizes that we are no longer the hero of the Big Bang Theory. Although the touch of comedy still remained and our heroine is not a strong confident woman, but a clumsy girl with a lot of vices. And with each vice, our heroine throughout the season will work, finding a point after which “never again”.
The second line starts immediately. This has already become a classic technique for recording two detective cases in the final, which either turn out to be the same case or help each other in the investigation. The final twist must be involved in two cases at the same time.
The heroine's brother is T. Er. Knight is beautiful, he's not a function, he's real, without him, the story of the Flight attendant's family would have rolled into cliches. And he becomes a beautiful knight, a smiling martyr who is ready to do anything for his sister.
In the dry residue is very dense work, not pressing the thriller, for which once again thank our heroine. Something resembling a Fahrenheit game: an indigo prophecy, probably by polyscreens, a suspense and an unfairly accused protagonist. With a lot of twists and turns we really don't expect.
I do not want to write about alcoholism - for me it is more like a spoon of tar. In the detective world, it's a stamp. The hero is a detective suffering from alcoholism, who is smarter and more cunning than his enemies, and would generally be in good standing if it were not for alcohol. It feels like when an impeccable hero needs to add a flaw - writers take it from the first shelf, and there, of course, lies alcoholism - why think deeper. Although it is understandable - alcohol is the companion of many writers, even the greatest.
Have a good time.
A reckless flight attendant, only for a short time falling into sobriety, wakes up after another drunkenness in a luxury hotel. Next to her is a dream man with whom she spent a tumultuous night. Dead. Slit throat. Who will be the main suspect, it is not difficult to guess.
With such a promising entanglement, initially giving hope that we will see a great variation of the magnificent Rubbish, begins the American series Flight attendant. And the movie really turned out well. But it's not shit. The series almost immediately collapses into a detective. It's quite banal. The dynamics are certainly present, and not without dashing wow moments. But in general, everything looks predictable Sometimes tragic, sometimes fun. Then exciting an irresistible desire to drink, then tie up forever. Yes, the topic of alcohol dependence, albeit pop, but fully disclosed.
And, of course, not without literally beating the fountain of the agenda, if it is wrong.
The strengths of the series include the idea of constant communication of the main character with herself. Although sometimes it's too much. Good flashbacks. Which allow the viewer to better understand the heroine, and the heroine herself.
As for the performers, in my opinion, Kaley Cuoco (known for the Big Bang Theory) as flight attendant Cassie Bowden outplays everyone. Other actors don’t eat their bread for nothing.
As befits a good series, correctly placed hooks. Therefore, immediately after the end of the series I want to quickly include the following.
Special thanks to the voice experts for popularizing the word “OK”. The number of its repetitions per square centimeter is sometimes just off the scale.
The series has now crossed the equator of season two. Which is much weaker than the first. Added trishness and fuss in the plot, and in general the narrative somehow dumb. And the agenda further squeezed the stranglehold on the neck of the viewer.
If the first season can be estimated at 7 points, the second - no more than 5. Therefore, in general,
Funny detective series with a star ' The Big Bang Theory' Kaley Cuoco. It can not be said that he is intriguing and keeps in suspense, and the solution, to be honest, on the surface, but it is interesting to watch. And the actress with her bright charisma added to the series highlights.
Cassie is a blonde slob who likes to drink. But this does not prevent her from building a career and flying as a flight attendant on international airlines. On one of the flights, Cassie meets the impressive man Alex Sokolov and accepts an invitation to dine with him in Bangkok. After a stormy night, an unlucky girl wakes up in a hotel room in an embrace... with the corpse of a new lover.
Cassie can't think of anything better than running away from the hotel in the hope of forgetting everything like a terrible dream. But what happened does not let go, runs after. Cassie remembers nothing about the events of the night. And now she has to figure out who killed her casual acquaintance and what happened in the hotel room.
This will help her old friends, new acquaintances and... Alex Sokolov himself, who also does not leave the girl alone.
What else is interesting about the series? I love how much Cassie drinks vodka. It's like water sips out of a bottle without even wrinkling. I've never seen this before, even though I was born in the homeland of this drink.
In general, look and forget. It is possible to get a little positive emotions.
From the very beginning, the flight attendant tunes in the right way: the series is so bright, stylish and, I am not afraid of this word, glamorous, like the life that the main character burns through. Cassie works as a flight attendant, so she travels a lot, although the scenario of her pastime is the same: she drinks like a horse and spends the night with a stranger from the club. One day, a date went wrong and her new one-night stand-in, Alex Sokolov, was found dead. Cassie, in a panic, cleans a hotel room in Bangkok and flies back to New York to apparently become the prime suspect in his murder.
Much of The Flight Attendant is the creation of Suzanne Vogel, the author of The Spy Who Dumped Me, so you can see the frivolous tone of what is happening. In practice, Flight attendant is like ridiculing the aesthetics of Alfred Hitchcock’s films in a playful way. This is hinted not only by the installation itself, in which, by the way, the main character behaves differently than the plot would have predicted, but also by certain cinematic effects: from the “split screen” to the dynamic soundtrack.
With all these techniques, it seems that the "Staff Conductor" lacks depth. The series prides itself on its bleakness so much that at times it overdoes and noir becomes surreal. For the rest, there’s a lot of showiness: Cassie’s drinking, for example, is seen as just a funny character trait, not a real problem. There is an emotional weight in her relationship with her brother, but he also looks more abstract.
Also, the creators of the “Standconductor” involved an interesting move: Cassie often conducts dialogue with her own subconscious, personified just in the form of a dead Alex. This allows her to replace her memories and is an important event in the series. However, this strange choice makes the narrative unnatural: for reasons more important to the development of the plot, Cassie herself begins an investigation, which also at some point exhales. It seems that the material in the “Standconductor” for a 90-minute film; in extreme cases – for four episodes, not eight, because of which the creators resorted to the development of “Standconductor” in the “soap opera”.
The series represents primarily Kaley Cuoco's immersion into a more saturated role after the end of The Big Bang Theory. For the rest, “The Flight Attendant” can be called stylish, but empty: although the quickly spinning story of murder, alcoholism and ghosts of the past is intriguing at first, the script is too quickly exhaled and to blame for this pace. The first 45 minutes we get acquainted with the heroine, her idle lifestyle, friends, brother, family, the protagonist’s alcoholism, dead body, etc., and yet none of the details are particularly focused: neither in the first series nor further.
6 out of 10
And our Penny (Kayley Cuoco) did well! An exciting detective in the style of black comedy. As they say, both laughter and sin. Good psychology in the script. The idea of a dead man as a "helping" ghost is not new, but it was interesting that the ghost had only the appearance of her man, and in fact was the alter ego of the main character. That is, when she discussed and embraced something with him in her parishes, she accepted herself. I also liked how actress Zasha Mamet worked, I remember her on the TV series “Girls”, here she opened up well.
Earned millions and made his TV series about the flight attendant
You all know Penny from The Big Bang Theory. If you don't know, she's a young, attractive girl. She works as a waitress and dreams of becoming an actress. But fate brings her together with strange physicists, now Penny’s life will never be the same.
“The Big Bang Theory” lasted 12 seasons, and the actors’ fees reached a million dollars per series – these are serious sums in the world of modern series, and even more so sitcoms.
In 2017, Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny, founded her company and immediately signed a contract with Warner Bros. The company is named after Kaylee’s favorite dog, Yes, Norman Productions.
This is not the first time that actresses have started their own business. Recently, Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things released a film about Enola Holmes, in which she was one of the producers.
The first work of Kaley Cuoco is the series “Staff Conductor” and we will talk about it today. In English, it is called “The Flight Attendant” and I have heard from flight attendants several times that they are unpleasant when they are called flight attendants in the old-fashioned way, because the list of their skills is quite wide – it is not only serving people on the plane, but, for example, also helping passengers in critical situations.
The more interesting is that the guide Cassie in the face of Kaley Cuoco seems to personify bad stereotypes. Her left heel sometimes doesn't know where her right heel will wake up - in general, this American "live once." One day, Cassie finished playing.
In first grade on a flight to Bangkok, she met a man named Alex Sokolov. He reads "Crime and Punishment", drinks vodka - Russian soul, although he lives in America. Word for word and now they are spending the evening together. Flight attendants are always accommodated in good hotels, so they are accustomed to luxury and, it would seem, Cassie is difficult to surprise with wealth. But Sokolov pushes her life to a new level - they are off in Bangkok too gloriously, so gloriously, that in the morning Cassie does not remember anything at all. And next to her in bed is the corpse of Alex.
Then I immediately remembered one cool series – “One Night”. It was the same thing, if you didn’t see it, don’t miss it. The trick of this series is that neither the viewer nor the main character for eight episodes can not understand what happened. The writer juggles expectations steeply.
So, even though "Staff Conductor" is similar in origin to "One Night", but then something else begins. Following the precepts of Chekhov, “Crime and Punishment” was in the frame for a reason. Apparently, the speech and the truth will go about the crime, but only perhaps a little different than first seems to the viewer.
The film is constantly interrupted by inserts. And in some of them, Cassie will talk to the murdered Alex. He will give her advice, analyze with her what is happening - in general, done well. But there's another layer of flashbacks -- references to Cassie's past. Something happened there that haunts her and it has something to do with rabbits.
Cassie will be chased by agents, as well as friends of Alex - apparently, the guy he was not easy. And Cassie herself with each episode becomes more confused in what is happening and does not understand who is still guilty of the crime.
The series is coolly shot - a real opportunity to travel without leaving the screen: Bangkok, Rome, New York - a flight attendant chats around the world. By the way, the series began to shoot at the end of 2019 and in March 2020 it stood up because of lockdowns. Shooting was re-started only by September, so that here literally captured the spirit of the time.
The drawbacks of the series include the fact that, as in the recent “Play Back”, too much begins to happen only towards the end of the series. This is already becoming some kind of HBO feature - pulling rubber to give the viewer a forehead to the end.
And I also wanted to say, well, you waited for the big role of Penny, not playing gorillas, but it's not Penny, it's Kaley Cuoco and her career is fine.
The series began to watch, mainly because of Kaley Cuoco in the lead roles. I love her charisma and her ability to look like you’ve been her best girlfriends for years.
Nothing serious from the series did not expect, especially saw the trailer: Kaylee with all her painfully familiar emotions and facial expressions from TBV, problems with drinking and splashing, in short, the new story of Penny.
I was hoping to watch one episode out of curiosity and that’s it.
However, the plot turned out to be interesting, exciting, as in a good detective. The actors are well-chosen and play well - in what is happening on the screen, there is no doubt that events drag on. To the detective part successfully added a drop of psychological component, you can see how Kayleigh tries to show himself from the dramatic side, and this, by the way, she in the course of the series is quite good. But in the first series definitely prepare to see the good old Mrs. Hofstadter.
I’ve watched 3 episodes so far and want more! The third one ended with the most interesting. . .
