Watching this movie left a double impression. In fact, the entire advertising campaign for this film made a fuss, because of which the film began to position itself as ' best comedy of the year'. At the exit, we received an unremarkable comedy with an average level of humor, a little bit of worn-out jokes and a tired idea about the dissatisfaction of the bride’s father about her chosen one.
The plot tells just about the confrontation of the father of the bride with ... himself. That's what happened, but it's typical of comedies. The music in the film is not selected in the best way, in some moments it conveys the spirit that needs to be conveyed at this point in the film, but at the same time sometimes it is not at all in the topic, and the compositions themselves did not taste very good to me.
The atmosphere of the Ukrainian village is chic, everything was done properly, even though the whole village was not shown, but only individual houses, but still everything is beautiful. Although the characters, I think, overplay, because, in fact, there is no village in which the inhabitants would behave so much & #39; traditional & #39; The action takes place in 2018, so now everything is a little ripe, and all these traditions can be left in the past, because no one behaves like the creators of the film exaggerate.
Actors are not bad either, but not everyone. Zadniprovsky plays his character almost perfectly, well conveys the emotions of an angry father who does not succeed in sewing off his son-in-law from his daughter. I can't say that about other family members. The mother of the bride does not perform well, especially when she cries. The bride herself throughout the film quite often speaks in this tone, as if reading the script on the go. Well, the groom himself plays quite well, he is French, so he turns out to speak broken Ukrainian incomparable.
Since Potap and Oleg Vinnik’s song was a prerequisite for the film’s release, I expected more of them to be shown than one in one scene, the second in two short ones. I wanted to see them, if not the main, then secondary heroes, and not the background.
Lots of commercials, like for a movie. But still, advertising is not too rusty and does not distract from the main action.
The ending was not particularly impressive, everything was too predictable.

"Spoken Vesilla" - Ukrainian comedy film of 2018. This is a domestic adaptation of the French film "Mad Wedding" (Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu?, orig.) “Why did we anger God?” The work was the debut of the showman Yuri Gorbunov as a producer of a feature film. And a very successful film: it collected almost 6-fold profit and became one of the highest grossing in the history of Ukrainian cinema.
The plot is based on the theme of multicultural marriage. Ukrainian Katya (Polina Vasilina) and African-French François (Jimmy Voha-Voha) meet at school in Paris and decide to get married. Katya wants to celebrate at home, in her native village. But how will her “going to Europe” Pope, Vasily(Nazar Zadniprovsky) react to her new relative?
According to the title of the film, it is clear that the father and future son-in-law will not begin acquaintance with an elegant English tea party. Otherwise, there would be no history. Instead, a hot colorful conflict erupts with many details.
One of the reasons for the success of “Said Vesilla” is the colorful cast. It's easier to tell who's not here. There are many professional actors and artists who have just tried on such a role.
Take, for example, the rapper Potap (which is also the music producer of the film), and Dmitry Monatika. Some of the most popular artists embodied in the film small, but no less interesting images of priests. It also featured several of their songs as soundtracks.
A personal discovery for me was the hero of Alexander Kobzar. The image Taras, a weakly-characterized good-natured person, on whom the crowd is pressing, in this case - from the wife Oxana(Vera Kobzar), daughter Oli(Inna Prikhodko) and son-in-law Ashot(Aram Arzumanyan), is not characteristic of him at all. I can count the positive roles of Alexander on one hand. And at the same time, I recognize that the negative characters in his incarnation are beautiful, (make sure of this by watching the series “Forget and Remember”).
Among other artists who are on the ears of modern Ukrainians, in “Said Vesilli” you can see members of the League of Laughter from the team “Zagoretska Lyudmila Stepanivna”, Victor Pink and Svyatoslav Antipov. The roles were given to them with the minimum number of replicas. But it was still original, in the spirit of the guys.
Even Oleg Vinnik (where now without him?!) himself appeared in several episodes of the picture.
Separately, I want to mention the performers of the role of Vasily, Nazar Zadniprovsky. It is a great joy to see this amazing actor on the screen, not just on the stage. Through this film, you make sure that this artist is equally good in both areas.
The environment in which the action develops is filled with the atmosphere of rural pathos and glamour (it is not more elegant to call it). This all happens under slightly improved conditions. Here you will not see an outright decline in everyday life, architecture, decoration of the house. This situation is even suspicious somewhere (remember the luxury village in the film Lyubomir Levitsky Shadows of the Unforgotten Ancestors).
A serious drawback of the film, according to many people, is too much in it with the number of product placements. How many of them are there!!! How could you accept so much sponsorship? The creators of the film achieved what some viewers called the "Said Vesilla" "film between advertisements." Not the most pleasant nickname for content that positions itself as quality.
In “Said Vesilli” you will not find supernatural plot twists, deep-thinking dialogues or characters with difficult fates. Narration develops within the boundaries of logic, with an acceptable amount of dynamism. Changes in the relationship between the characters will not come as a surprise. Everything is done so that the viewer sees on the screen an easy to perceive and aftertaste film.

I highly recommend it (unless you are afraid of a lot of advertising).
About a year ago, the Italian-Ukrainian tragicomedy “Izi” was released in the domestic film rental, where in the eyes of the main character, our country appeared to be a cold, inhospitable and depressed area somewhere beyond the Carpathian ridge, the roads of which you can freely travel with a dead person embedded in the coffin. The film was very atmospheric, although the atmosphere was absolutely depressing.
And now in the year No. 2018, under the patronage of Yuri Gorbunov, our “answer to their Chamberlain” comes out. In the “Mad Wedding” Ukraine again encloses in its arms a foreigner, a spectre, at the same time, the picturesque edges of Podolia and playing with all the subtle shades of hospitality.
In the story, Katya, the daughter of the main character (Paulina Vasilina), brings home a French groom to play a wedding in a small homeland. Everything would be fine, but François (Jimmy Voha-Voha) is somewhat darker than the future father-in-law, Katin father Vasily Serdyuk (Nazar Zadneprovsky). This news stunned him so much that he uses all his Ukrainian savvy to disrupt the upcoming festive ceremony.
"Mad Wedding" echoes the words of Neil Armstrong. This is a leap in place for world cinema, but a big step forward for Ukrainian filmmaking.
Secondary plot authors "beat" high-quality camera work, moderate family humor and cameo Oleg "Nashevsio" Vinnik.
Despite the ease of the genre, comedy is perhaps the most complex form of presentation, in which any little thing can reduce to zero the result of all efforts. The authors ventured to mix explosive components and very correctly calculated their proportions, so that "Mad Wedding" really lights up, but without the risk of burning the audience's eyebrows.
Although the film reveals the topic of mass festivities on the occasion of marriage, it completely lacks the message “drunk is already ridiculous.” Therefore, the audience will not look at another “Bitter!” or “Features of the national [something there]”.
The cast, in addition to beginners, included many comedians, like Fedi Bamper, the duo “Zagoretskaya”, Inna Prikhodko (ex-“Vinnytsia peppers”). And here the creators earn another plus, giving such participants purely secondary roles. Humorists become a seasoning that enhances the taste of the main dish, but does not interrupt it. Thus, “Wedding” manages to avoid the fate of “The Best Film”, when the concentration of “camediclab” per frame exceeded all permissible values, leveling the quality of the product to the opposite level of the name.
The main color of the film, in addition to the picturesque Podolia and incorruptible “Smerek”, creates Nazar Zadneprovsky. His character is charismatic just as much as his style requires. And although sometimes it does not do without excesses on the ground, the main actor performs the task. Vasily Serdyuk is ridiculous without laughter, and in the end his mouth speaks the basic morality of the whole story.
"Mad Wedding" is a good family movie in spirit and a quality film product in form. Not a serious attempt to look at yourself from the outside through the eyes of an expat in love.
The long-awaited premiere of Mad Wedding has finally taken place. The bold presentation of the picture as the best comedy of the year, a skillful advertising campaign, cheerful soundtracks sounding on all music channels and radio stations caused serious interest in the audience, and for five days of rental "Mad Wedding" broke box office records. Unfortunately, this is further proof that for the sake of a good result that would cover all the expenses, it is not necessary to make good films. The main thing is to get the right people to the project.
The plot of the comedy is quite simple. The daughter of the main character Vasily Seredyuk is studying in France, which her father is very proud of. There, she meets her fate and prepares to return to Ukraine for a wedding. The Seredyukov family is desperately preparing for the upcoming holiday and is thinking how best to meet a European son-in-law. No one suspected that the daughter of a true patriot, the head of the district club of culture, could fall in love with an African-French man. At least one person is exactly that.
This situation is certainly comical and not far-fetched. Moreover, it was possible to extract a lot of funny stories, ways and options of development associated with the docking of cultures of different countries, their misunderstanding and denial. However, the creators went a different way and focused on the skin color of the French groom. At a time when the whole world shoots anti-racist films, quite rightly showing how much suffering has fallen on the fate of people of color, Ukrainians release a comedy about a sincere patriot in a embroidery, mad at the fact that his daughter fell in love with a Negro. Throughout the film, the French son-in-law will be called “Chornobrivtsy”, “chortyakoy”, “chornbrow” and compared with a bag of black coal that fell on his head. The remorse of the protagonist and his speech at the wedding that the color of the skin does not matter, demonstrates that in the “Mad Wedding” still laid the moral, but it does not smooth out the ugliness said earlier. Vasily Seredyuk changes his mind only because it was beneficial to him. This is why all morality is at the seams.
The humor in the picture is quite primitive. The number of quality jokes here is so small that it is easily ahead of the amount of advertising. The sponsors of the “Mad Wedding” did not forget to remind themselves, so the audience will have to watch how the Novaya Mail van, the Oschadbank card almost close-up and even the Mezim pills will pass through the village three times. The composer and co-producer of the tape was Alexei Potapenko (Potap), the author of such hits as “Crazy Spring”, “Chundra Chunchundra”, “Bumdiggibai”, “Atyatya”, etc., so behind the scenes the viewer will hear not only the soundtracks for “Mad Wedding”, but also the songs of all Potap’s wards. Potap himself, along with the singer Dmitry Monatik, starred in episodic roles of priests. By the way, apart from the scene shown in the trailer, the artists will not appear anywhere else. Most likely, their participation is another move to attract a larger audience. The same story with Oleg Vinnik.
Unfortunately, the best comedy of the year turned out to be a failure on almost every point. It is impossible to talk about quality where at least wigs and mustaches could not make believable. In the race for popularity, as well as in their personal work, and in the discussed film, its creators completely forgot that they are engaged in art. But as long as the audience is willing to pay, films like this will not stop being made. It is a pity that they will be allocated a large part of the budget.
Okay, let's go. I usually have a bias against Ukrainian or Russian cinema. Especially if this is a comedy about a wedding. ' Bitter' dealt a huge blow to my psyche, but since there was no special choice, I decided ' the pedtrimati of the Ukrainian virobnik'.
It's a remake of a French film of the same name that I haven't seen. Those who have seen the film will be able to give a more objective assessment.
First of all, the trailer of the film is made according to the type ' Walk Vasya'. That is, he shows us a comedy like 'Bitter', 'Best Day' without being so.
And so the plot of the film is quite simple. The daughter wants to marry a black guy, and the father ' old-school' does not want this marriage to take place. Comic situations are built around his attempts to disrupt his daughter's holiday, which is quite obvious. It’s a pretty obvious ending.
The acting game is quite bearable. Especially stands out Nazar Zadneprovsky (Vasil Seredyuk), who played the father of the bride. He managed to create a very colorful character, which is interesting to watch. Gimmy Voa (François - groom) also looked good, he managed to create such a naive Frenchman, an extreme lover, who is sincerely surprised by everything that is happening. Generally speaking, every actor is in place and plays a role to the end. I believed them.
Music is not a strong side of the film. The title theme holds its head only for an hour of viewing. There are also folk musical motifs, and the same 'Smerek' (which some pretty annoyed)
Humor of the film does not fall to the level ' it is already ridiculous to swell' but it is not a benchmark either. Most of the jokes here are very naive. Various curvatures are almost absent here. There are a few moments ' below the belt' but they balance on the edge of a foul.
