I really liked the movie. In life, sometimes I had to face people who have any deviations in brain development, including schizophrenics.
And so I wondered, how does this person see the world? I have heard many stories in which a person talks to a photo and is indoctrinated with negative thoughts about betrayal, suicide, and imposed actions, for example, to set fire to a house.
All this caused me fear, as at the beginning of this film, because the main character, knowing his diagnosis, as well as people around do not understand what is happening. Only he is inside what is happening, and we are like outside.
The film is not that if you fall in love all your problems will disappear, it is only a change of focus temporarily, and that you accept your peculiarity, and it also does not mean that the "good" hallucinations will remain and the "evil" will disappear.
Half of the film cried with the realization that a person perceives himself as a disease, repels loved ones because of a sense of danger to them, all this shows that often we invent ourselves, that we harm someone, that we are not needed and not important, not loved - this is only the point of view that our consciousness imposes, this is only part of the picture.
And like Paul, who was a villain throughout the film, but in fact turned out to be the most loving and accepting stepfather, despite all the “teenage antics” of Adam, we are sometimes mistaken in our opinion about people and their attitude towards us.
The film definitely advises, there is something to think about through the prism of yourself.

Frankly, I did not understand the enthusiastic reviews empathizing with a young man with a disease, many considered it potentially dangerous for society, expressed their misunderstanding of the frivolity of attitude to such a person.
“What kind of person do you want to ask?”
I saw a huge lead on the idea of schizophrenia, voices in the head and the characters our hero sees. The writers and director brought the end to the victory over their fears, the hope of the hero to break out to “normal” people. In short, everything according to some stereotypes + licked it all with a romantic story of teenage love.
If you think on a larger scale – I do not believe that schizophrenics are some “abnormal” people – in general, this term “normal / abnormal” is purely individual for everyone, I like to say that these are people who have an unusual gift that can clearly be revealed for the benefit of man and society.
But social society, medical research has put a giant stamp on people's lives, with such features, classifying them as psychotics, potentially dangerous, inadequate, and so on. The human brain absorbs this information because it is so large-scale and somehow accepted as the only true in our world that people with such a gift automatically become outcasts who for some reason need to hide away - because no one knows what to expect from them?
Don’t you think this is total control? Your brain is trying to protect your body from potential dangers that it has invented. What we see in the movie, when a guy has another “seizures” – he himself is already afraid to tell someone, because he does not want to be in a psychiatric hospital tied to a bed, and instead of helping him – the environment is afraid of him, he is expelled from school, friends are removed – life goes downhill and he loses hope.
A story with a mysterious and sinister voice, characters who push their thoughts to him could be brought into such a psychological plot, as a guy sees in this a huge gift that helps him live easier and easier, as knowledge is revealed to him that no one has ever heard or seen. The plot lines are a bunch, but the director and writers took this idea so superficially that the film is pure for once.
I hope that in the future our society will start to think bigger and bigger, see more cause and effect, accept every person on this planet and stop dividing everything into black and white, because our world is dual and we all have black and white in us, and that’s OK.
Far from reality, embellishes the real state of affairs. Some people may have a wrong understanding of the disease. If you realize that, the movie itself is great.
This movie is just dangerous. Not only does the film not show the horror of this disease, so it is also misleading, because there are many people who build a view of the world from films including. Someone will follow the example of this girl, because it is a feat despite the disease, to be with a loved one, not to be a traitor, the more the disease can be cured by love and care (according to the film). The author only "forgot" to warn the audience that not only seizures are a problem, but that schizophrenia is inherited, and what future the girl chooses for her children. Did she realize that all her future generations would have a great chance of getting schizophrenia? Probably the author wanted the best, but in fact someone’s life will break.
What I want to say about this picture, in general, the topic is well developed ' teenage love', with all the ensuing. But what really caught on was the importance and value of family relationships. After all, in the whole circle of the family, at the family table & #39, such problems must be solved. It is important to support mother and father, even if not native. The experiences of teenagers about their not fullness, difference from others, but with the help of adults and wise people who help to return to the channel & #39; to feel that you are not like others not because something is wrong in you, but because you are unique, as a person, as a person. The film is filled with funny, cute, touching and dramatic moments, which entails the richness and versatility of the film. There are several plot holes in the form of logical actions of the protagonist and his family, but this does not repel viewing, although it makes the footage ambiguous. In conclusion, I will probably leave my inexperienced assessment in this form, personally I thought the film was not bad and quite suitable for family viewing.

Thank you for your time reading the text above, everyone have a good look!
“Our stories are not listened to. The people around them are just not interested.
The creators of "Inscriptions on the walls of the bathroom" (in the Russian version - "Crazy Love") offer to plunge into the history of the mentally ill Adam, look at the world through the eyes of such people, try to understand - what they feel. It's very difficult, and not just because you don't experience something like that. You can look into the soul of another, you can understand the animal or even ' read ' constellation, but as long as the Mysteries of the brain are covered with a veil, we will not be able to put ourselves in the place of the mentally ill; and it is not their fault that actions do not lend themselves to reason.
It seems that this idea became the main message of the whole film, as well as the book by Julia Walton, on the basis of which the film was shot. We can blame people for their racial prejudices, their gender biases, their desire for violence, simply because it once became their own choice. However, homosexuals and lesbians did not choose their own path, and as uncomfortable as we are in their society, all they have to do is try to control themselves. The situation is similar with schizophrenics. Like terminally ill and doomed people, they can only wait and hope for a miracle, that one day they will develop a drug that makes them normal. But what does it mean to be “normal” in this broken world? We trust intuition, logic, and hope that it will not let us down. But are we really doing the right thing? And why do terminally ill people feel sorry, help in everything, while schizophrenics become outcasts?
People like Adam are the most sincere. Just because they can't lie. Their language precedes thought, and the brain simply does not have time to think about how to do the right thing. But since when did telling the truth become insane? They say they see things that are not available to ordinary people. But is it true or real that everything we see, and can it not exist if it is simply not accessible to the eye? I'm just saying that a defeated Mind is not a verdict yet, and we shouldn't isolate them. Unless, of course, they are aggressive.
As already mentioned, the film is based on the novel by Julia Walton “Words on the Wall”. However, unlike the book, director Thor Freudenthal more fully revealed the love line between Adam and Maya, ready to do anything for the sake of a loved one. That makes it look even more exciting. Adam's book history is more focused on his visions, the medical aspect. There are also a number of discrepancies, characters that were not included in the film, but I will not dwell on them: better look / read and compare yourself.
Charlie Plummer perfectly played the role of schizophrenic Adam, imbued with his history. Looking at how the actor behaves in the frame, you can not even say that in life – this is the most ordinary person. In general, he often has to play such roles as loners with problems. Remember at least Miles Holter from “Finding Alaska” (based on the book by the notorious John Green), “Rely on Pete”, “Deep Ravine”. Truly the decoration of the project was Taylor Russell. Her character is a strong and invincible personality, who also constantly faces challenges of a slightly different plan, but bravely endures them. Extreme need, the need to care for loved ones - only temper Maya, make her stronger. No wonder she's just attracted to Adam. But you have to be prepared – there will always be weaklings and duboloms like Ian who just need to bully others. Who is the biggest idiot who poses a threat to others? I was proud of Paul, who always treated Adam as his own son, tolerated his antics and the instructions of others – let this remain on their conscience.
It was funny to see an adult Anna-Sophia Robb, who did not even recognize. I only mentioned the name in the final credits. Yes, yes, the same Leslie from The Bridge to Terabithia (2007) or Violet in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). A noticeable comedy stream of the plot gives the character Bodyguard (Bodyguard) – another “vision” of Adam. Lobo Sebasyan with his criminal appearance, always waving his bat and sharp on words looks terrifying and funny at the same time.

There is such a friend, Thor Freudenthal. The guru of the so-called family cinema once took over the management of the “Hotel for Dogs”, “Diary of a weakling” and “Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters”, but soon his cinematic passion began to dry up: after “Percy Jackson” Freudenthal directed mainly series. With “Crazy Love” he had a mini-camback, and, so to speak, outside the zone of creative comfort: in the film, the director addresses the problems of polished American teenagers, trying to adapt the youth book “Words on the walls of the bathroom”. Freudenthal’s early projects conjure up thoughts of comedy or pseudo-high fantasy, while Crazy Love tries to embrace the immense: visualize mental illness, understand it and draw appropriate conclusions. Of course, in the film format, whose main audience are teenagers, this can hardly be demonstrated “as is”, i.e. in a harsh quality, so the final result is somewhat softened.
High school student Adam dreams of entering culinary school. The fact is that cooking helps him distract from mental problems: schizophrenia often manifests itself in the form of non-existent personalities. Among them: Guru Rebecca, brutal Bugai and foul-mouthed Joaquin. It is understandable that this mini-company Split is keeping Adam from living: social interaction at zero, let alone being expelled from school. He is given a second chance to try his hand at a Catholic school, where Adam finds Maya. Communicating with her, the young man begins to rethink his life and, naturally, falls in love.
Bringing a mental illness to the screen is not an easy task. First, there is a chance to offend someone or run into a heap of misunderstanding among viewers familiar with real manifestations. Secondly, those who have not experienced this or have not communicated in real life with crazy people can turn their fingers at the temple and be surprised by the heap of delirium. “Love” creates more space for confusion: the inner monologues and reckless, illogical actions of the hero are realized precisely as the deeds of his alter ego. Persons may be said to take Adam’s body without his permission; they are occasionally joined by a voice from the dark that desires violence. Solving his problems, Adam creates a new one: it is good that he has a goal in the form of a desire to become a chef, and it is so interesting to watch his inner struggles.
However, it is implemented rather dreary: the plot goes along the path beaten by other teenage films about outsiders. There will be a place for tedious things like school hooligans, a nasty stepfather (although not everything is so clear here), opposition to stupid school rules, an understanding and adequate adult, etc. In other words, because of these techniques, all the strong dramatic potential is leveled: it is difficult to perceive Adam’s desire for a dream and his final motivational “speak” at the prom, if only because it is actually no different from hundreds of others. Even the installation of the same “crazy love” with classmate Maya looks a little naive and is designed for the most romantic individuals: the couple has no real difficulties.
“Crazy Love” demonstrates interesting ideas and even a high conceptual idea: it is easy to see in the tape such topics as the fear of parents for the future of their “special” child. At the same time, alas, most of the story remains at the level of a teenager: very shaky cinematic techniques are involved, and the heart of the film is often somewhere in the wrong place. Freudenthal is making a film about what he knows very mediocrely: on the one hand, teenagers can be conquered by the enchanting power of love, although perhaps the most cynical of them will not find the picture fascinating. On the other hand, mental illness is diluted with routine melodrama: apart from positive maximalism, Crazy Love hardly contains anything significant.
Adam has schizophrenia. And it's not cured. Cancer is also incurable, but cancer patients are treated with obvious sympathy, since their physical illness is usually incompatible with a long life, while the “mental” are sick on the head, which causes others, if not fear, then in most cases neglect, making them victims of indifference.
And now, sitting in a soft chair, as if at a doctor's appointment, Adam tells how he lives with a split consciousness, in which hallucinogenic ghosts live next to his mother, stepfather and school, and the spirit is captured by bouts of hysteria, because of which he loses control over himself, turning into an outcast. He looks forward to where the doctor should be sitting, but there is no one there except those who decided to watch this movie with the story of a man starting a new life, and, importantly, he talks about it with pleasure.
And it is good that we are not dealing with the diary of the patient and not clinical drama, but we see quite a living confession of a guy who did not immediately recognize and saw what is what, faced with what does not allow him to live normally, while he is suddenly in love and wants to continue the new, without seeing the right path to it.
Youth falling in love bursts into clinical pathology, and romantic relationships provoke another conflict of contradictions, revealing the complex aspects of the schizophrenic’s difficult relationship with the outside world, which at times seems to him a hostile environment, where different people still meet who can shake his distrust.
Charlie Plummer specializes in characters who are in an unstable psychological state, not exaggerating, but absolutely accurately conveying the vacillations of the main character, who goes only to him known sacrifices in order to improve relations with his girlfriend, hardly hinting that this is the lot of many people who have to live without coming to the usual norm, experiencing all possible means of adaptation.
In this part, the film borrows a modern idea of the social therapy of mental disorders, but it is introduced not on the advice of a doctor, but becomes the discovery of the main character, groping out of the darkness of his nightmare, without losing the irony and presence of the spirit, in which forever without turning doom to tragedy, which makes the incipient catastrophe take the form of a fascinating adventure, softening the thorns through which the participants of the events pass, excluding the three obsessive ghosts with which Adam learns to live, as with other people - so that with his positive picture, I would say full.
