Author's film about the history of Russia, cinema reflection This film is about creativity and the complex, but extremely necessary, co-authorship of the artist and the state. Vasily Livanov expresses his thoughts on this problem, you can argue with them, but it is necessary to try to understand. The film should be seen by the young, although for them the age difference with the author will be frightening, which is why it is so important that the older generation explain to the younger the meanings inherent in the narrative. The least that the film provides is an opportunity for young people aged 17-25 to avoid embarrassment when they can not name the person depicted on the monument (we conducted surveys, we know what we are talking about), and if they can take more, they will have a deeper understanding of the history of the country in which they live and, perhaps, with which they connect their future. The film not only tells about the creation of one of the greatest symbols of Russia, but also connects it with today, it was necessary to draw a parallel with our time, especially given the release of the “Gatekeeper of the Galaxy” and other similar films in which the state acted as a commercial co-investor, without any responsible attitude to the essence, without internal censorship and without needs.
This film is not for everyone, Gladkov’s music has received professional recognition (the Prize of the festival of actors-directors “Golden Phoenix” named after composer Mikhail Glinka Gennady Gladkov for the music for the film “Bronze Horseman of Russia”), which means its highest level of quality and beauty, which was appreciated by the most sophisticated audience. Of course, many people are much more fun to see the new Christmas trees or Holopa, why bother. The symbolism of the language of the picture is reflected in the Immortal Regiment in the finale of the film, because this film is dedicated to those to whom the Frenchman Falcone is grateful, which is why children and loved ones of the winners, proudly carrying the banner of victory, and not the flag of the Communist Party, take part in this action.
The film also won the prize of the XXVIII International Film Forum “Golden Knight” in the category “Films for children”, was selected by young cadets who understand what education is and why those who do not know history have no future.
Bottom line: it is worth watching only the demanding, thoughtful and educated viewer of the older and younger generation, especially the older generation, to then sit next to grandchildren and watch the film again. Cinema, fortunately or unfortunately, is not for everyone.
