Strong psychological thriller. In a quiet pool, the story of a maniac and a disintegrating family got along perfectly. The audience was even able to please with a demonstration and explanation of such a phenomenon as frrogging. An interesting move is the demonstration of the same events from both sides, which eventually leads smoothly to this turn. It is interesting to watch what is happening, and for outright stupidity none of the actors was noticed. A good movie that definitely deserves to be seen at dinner.
The localized title of this film in our country directly refers to the Russian folk proverb “there are devils in a quiet pool”. The plot is tied to it, although officially it is not said anywhere - every action in this film will be unexpected, which will expose you to shock and you will constantly think about the events that will happen next.
The betrayal of your wife and the understanding that someone is constantly watching you is not all that is present in this film.
It would seem that in a quiet and secluded town, where harmony and tranquility reign, nothing can happen, right? Unfortunately, this is not the case, because a ten-year-old boy disappears in the city. This tragedy puts everyone in shock – people in fear, trying to protect their children from an unknown kidnapper. The investigation is entrusted to Detective Greg Harper, but here’s the bad luck – he is in turmoil and decline from the fact that he was changed by his beloved woman, named Jackie.
The Greek is gradually turning into an antisocial creature that is only sleeping. Jackie at this time notices that someone is in their house, but no one believes her, and in vain. . .
At first there will be a stagnation of the plot, but over time the heat will increase, and you will realize that in the Harper family everything is much more complicated. This film is for fans of thriller and drama genres.
The film industry, hoping to attract the viewer, exploits both higher and lower feelings, namely fears. Fear is the strongest catalyst for emotions and actions. “In a Quiet Mouth” tells about the phenomenon of froging – a kind of subculture, when people secretly settle in the homes of other people, secretly watching them. The name "frogging" comes from the English. frog, that is, a frog, because the settlers seem to "jump" from one house to another, constantly changing their place of residence as soon as the owners begin to notice something wrong.
Surprisingly, films with a similar plot are gaining great ratings and are admired by film critics. The closest "kin" is the well-known film "Parasites". Although it seems to me that in this case – rather mediocre films that are not very interesting to watch.
The plot of “In a quiet pool” is shown from two angles: first from the perspective of the residents of a rich large house, and then from the perspective of the frogers living in their house. In principle, the film does not differ in anything special, about it you can even say that low-budget. Because the action takes place mainly in the house, we have actors playing their prescribed roles... well, in fact, that’s all.
Only the themes of froging to the filmmakers seemed insufficient, and woven more pedophilia. What are the rich afraid of? That in their house someone walks, wanders, and... they worry about their children. It all fits together.
Summarizing. The plot is primitive, in some moments even unpleasant. It was not terrible, the heroes do not cause feelings of empathy.
- you don't understand. When I was little. . - I don't give a shit. Perfect dialogue with a maniac. I don't care what you had, who was bullied, and why, the important fact is, what you do to others. The first part is murky, but then went interesting, beat everything perfectly. The plot is thought out, there are no holes.
I like everything. It is not mysticism, although it is similar; there is a psycho and a few unexpected turns!!! In general, I am happy with everything except Helen Hunt. It's a very sad sight.
Not a bad movie with a great unexpected ending. In principle, until the end you do not expect what will happen and "morrow" for the wrong hero. Definitely need to see.
What intriguing films I have come across lately, and this one of them, the topic is certainly creepy, and the film does not hide it, under what masks pedophiles do not hide, the plot is interesting, you can even say shocking, the play of the actors is great. . . 10 out of 10.
Today, something new and unpredictable is not easy to do. And in general, watching movies, where the main goal is to play detective (and complain about predictability) so is the choice of game for your head. Learn to enjoy what you see, after all, it is not for nothing that movies are entertaining in nature. Therefore, first of all, it is worth assessing the quality of the work, which I would like to comment on.
The idea for the movie isn't bad at all. If you google something like “top scary things filmed on a surveillance camera”, you will clearly come across a video where a stranger climbs out of a secluded place at night and wanders around the rooms of the owner of this very house. It's actually very creepy and scary, just put yourself in the shoes of these people to understand. So, the fact that the Froggers were inscribed here was interesting.
The negative point is precisely what could not competently, consistently and clearly show what is happening through the eyes of each of the “sides”. Putting two sides in the top spots at once – we got a lot of confusion. As a result, after watching you remain in mixed sensations, unpleasant at the same time.
Here in the negative I will write the fact that all the characters were not revealed, so that you could feel some special feelings for them, everyone got angry a little bit, and this ended.
That's what I see here as great, is the musical accompaniment. It's high, it's holding the tension.
It is very difficult to write something meaningful about this film ' over 140 characters' without spoilers, but try.
A classic example of a movie about a one-story America, the part of it where the American dream came true & #39; - families with good wealth, their own house (2 or 3 floors), two cars and so on - and the same part of it where people go from an excess of goods ' to the dark side of the force'.
The movie contains two big ' here are the turns ' and if the second is already read by the time of its appearance (and at the same time pulls the resolution of intrigue ' who is a maniac '); then the first, in fact, changes the idea of the film genre - the film as if it had just begun and is completely different. At the same time, the creators of the film very deftly lead the viewer by the nose - whether some damn thing is happening, or someone's head is not in order, or everything is very prosaic.
But since cinema is a representative of its genre, then, unfortunately, there are very clichéd events in it: entering dubious vans alone in a dark forest, the inability to tear a plastic bag thrown over your head with your hands, and so on.
In addition, in my opinion, the finale turned out to be very crumpled, as if the creators had a strictly limited amount of timekeeping of the film, so if the texture we still find out who is who, but the amount of uncertainty from this only increases: what motivated this hero to do this? why this hero was silent for so long? and so on.
Bottom line: the movie is fun to watch, about 80% of the time - the remaining 20% of questions become more than answers, which spoils the impression.
A story about a twelve-year-old boy being kidnapped in a small provincial town. The investigation is conducted by an overcast detective Greg, who is experiencing the betrayal of his wife and is in a depressed state, not knowing whether he will knock out all the nonsense from the infidel wife, or forgive the lewd prostitute. In addition to everything in the house of the detective begins to create a paranormal nonsense, it seems that in the hut there is something otherworldly.
The output turned out to be a mixture of a detective, a thriller and a bit of horror (without screamers), and certainly not worth making hasty conclusions after watching the first half an hour of the picture.
And the tape has something to offer the viewer, firstly, it is a non-trivial plot, a couple of times tweaking unexpected turns. The second is a story, where the story will be told by three different people. Thirdly, a good soundtrack and a perfect soundtrack in the form of oppressive music and extraneous sounds, creating the right atmosphere. By the middle of the film, the story accelerates and launches plot branches, but at the end, answers to absolutely all questions will be received, and even the most whimsical viewer, who loves meticulous explanations, will receive them in full.
Surprisingly, for an hour and a half of timekeeping, the director managed to mix a cocktail about a serial maniac, the devil being created in the house and a story about two young adventurers (without spoilers)! You can complain that they say the characters are not quite disclosed, as well as family conflict, and drama, but the film is not about that.
The moral is simple: if an inexplicable devil began to happen in your house, then do not rush to panic - perhaps it is just a house shuffle, and it should be pleased with a bottle of delicious wine.
As a result, a good twisted thriller that looks in one breath with interest and intrigue.
Great, tense, thriller. I assure you, you won't be bored. On the contrary, sometimes I realized that from what is happening on the screen, I convulsively squeeze the remote control like a gun handle. Look, but remember that the real evil is hidden in plain sight!
The Harper family has already forgotten what idyll is. Jackie, having once cheated on her husband, is now forced to pay, as her husband Greg (part-time police detective), now even refuses to share a bed with her. Connor's son, of course, is also angry with his mother and doesn't really want to talk to her.
Family problems are aggravated by the fact that strange events begin to occur in the Harpers’ house: things will disappear, then somehow the glassmaker will get into their house, informing that the door was opened by Jackie’s daughter. Against the background of family discord aside and unobtrusively develops the story of the disappearance of a 10-year-old boy whose disappearance is very similar to those that happened in this town many years ago.
Including this film you need to be prepared for the fact that you will have to witness the first half of the picture, not understanding what is happening there. A fair number of unrelated episodes give a general idea of the Harpers' problems. But how they can be connected with the disappearance of the child and whether they are connected at all, as well as what the hell is going on in the house – all these questions cannot be answered yet.
Until the second part begins, or rather the second half of the picture. In it, everything falls into place, giving the viewer something about which the viewer could hardly guess that this is possible. Probably no thought arises in terms of what will be shown next, why the sophisticated thoughts of the director (Adam Randall) and the screenwriter (Devon Grayet) of the film become even darker and creepier.
While watching, I first heard a term, the definition of which I later learned from the Internet. To say that he was amazed is to say nothing! Such things happen and there are really confirmed facts of so-called frogging! Here other words are appropriate, for example, parasitism, which by the way is best suited here.
It is in the second half of the film (not in the last 10 minutes, as is often the case) that everything the director stated is told. The story of the boy’s disappearance remains secondary because the root of the evil lies elsewhere. And if you continue to delve into what is happening on the screen, some characters are rapidly changing roles, as if trying on the masks of other people just like the person who is depicted in the mask on the poster!
Violent and viscous music with an abundance of “jumping” sounds constantly keeps in suspense, not allowing the viewer to relax. Even in sluggish episodes, the obsessive feeling of something unpleasant remains and does not disappear just because of the music, constantly spurring the idea that something is about to happen.
Although the feeling of creep creates not only music, but of course Helen Hunt, which I ask you not to recognize! The actress, charmed by her smile and sparkling eyes in What Women Want, Rogue and Tornado, now looks like a walking corpse with critically strained skin on her head. Some say that it is the consequences of a failed plastic surgery, others that it is the consequences of an accident that occurred in years zero. I don’t know for sure, but the fact remains that that Helen Hunt is in memory and movies, and this one is some fake, not the Helen. It's like a double from a parallel universe.
In general, the film leaves a pleasant impression due to its originality (at least I have not seen films on this topic, if you have in mind – please write their titles in the comments) and plasticity in terms of genre affiliation.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Another masterpiece of our translators, I mean the title, of course. It's amazing how subtle they feel what the director really wanted to say. What is the name of this book: “I see you.” Ours is better known, so please watch "In a quiet pool." I apologize for the incomprehensible retreat, but our master translators really infuriate, and only one question arises constantly: what the fuck????
Okay, let's go back to the movie, or rather, let's get to it. Here is a thriller, and quite well confused. Jackie (Helen Hunt) is a middle-aged woman who works as a therapist. As we understand from the first 20 minutes, Jackie recently cheated on her husband Greg, a police officer. Greg has not yet forgiven his wife, sleeping on the couch in the hall. His teenage son hated his mother and talked to her through his teeth. The family is in a serious crisis, and Jackie does not yet know how to return her former idyll.
At this time, a ten-year-old boy disappears in the city, as it turned out, the second in a short period of time. And Greg needs to investigate, of course, suffering from his family’s situation. Jackie, among other things, notices that something strange is happening in the house: then her mug will disappear from the usual place, then all cutlery will disappear, then her daughter will open the door to the glassmaker, as the man said, although the couple has no daughter. It seems that this is something mystical, but no, even the list of genres does not indicate neither horror nor mysticism, so I personally guessed what was going on, but I could not guess what it was really all about, forgive the tautology.
I have to say, until about the middle of the movie, I thought it was bullshit. Well, I mean, yeah, lookable, kind of interesting, but predictable somehow. But then, when it turned 180 degrees, I was really cheerful - suddenly, interesting, good! As a result, I can say that I really liked the picture. Plus and very weighty were interesting shooting - often emerging footage, shot from a bird's eye view. Beautiful, yes. The sound row is excellent – disturbing, low frequencies, sniffing... but! It was too, too, too much of a sound, a little too much for me. What didn't make me happy was Helen Hunt. It's just, I'm sorry, terrible! It feels like the actress is wearing a mummy mask, although I understand that she is in life now. But man, what was the makeup made up for, guys? Who am I to judge the appearance of this actress? It's a good movie, I recommend it.
I didn't see the trailer, I didn't read the description of the movie and it turned out right, just turned on the movie in the hopes of seeing a mid-range thriller.
As a result, he expected to meet a horror film, received a beautiful “designer”.
Plot: Not banal, not worn, with a twist
The home of a typical American family. Marriage is in distress, the son is in transition. The mother is experiencing internal drama, the father is a policeman living on the ruins of his former love, along the way looking for pedophiles operating in the district. At this time, hell breaks out in the house. Banal? But in the future, the writers will be pleasantly surprised, this is true.
Actors: The selection is beautiful. The guys valiantly cope with the roles assigned to them, the characters are clear and logically prescribed.
Absent: long and boring dialogues, now mandatory black gays, transgender, feminists, interracial couples, script holes. And you know, the movie didn't lose that.
Present: an unusual story, a well-made thriller without blunders, good acting work.
Given the complete lack of understanding of the plot of the film, despite watching the trailers and not reading the descriptions, I succumbed to the idea of the authors and had a surprisingly good time.

Strong film, great story. You can watch
+1 points, for a weak marketing campaign that did not steal thirty percent of the plot of the film from me and allowed me to enjoy the spectacle, also thank you for choosing a poster.
Had “In the Quiet Swamp” been at the box office about twenty years ago, its footprint would have remained more significant in the genre. History adopts a new concept of “frogging”, when young people sneak into the homes of families, and live in them without being noticed by the owners.
The story begins with the fact that, riding a bicycle in the forest, a teenager disappears, all traces lead to a maniac once in the past who operated in these parts. Also in parallel, the plot tells about a family whose marriage cracks at the seams after the infidelity of his mother, and the police father turns out to be a detective in the case of the missing teenager. Compositionally, the script is presented to the viewer from two different angles – through the eyes of the same family, as well as through the eyes of two young people filming their not entirely legitimate adventures.
Adam Randall flirts with the viewer with guesses and false facts, which, by and large, as for a thriller of such a scale, plays into the hands of the authors. But, unfortunately, having passed the equator of the tape, when the supply of the material already seen begins only from the other side, interest begins to fall, and the end of the story becomes more and more predictable. Also, even without much expectations for the acting of the cast involved, none of the characters left any positive impressions, so only imitation of complex characters, but without any arguments.
The motive of the maniac’s crimes is also unclear. Many will say that this was the whole twist, they say that the viewer should not have expected such a development of events, but this very character, already stating his identity in fact, turned out to be pale and uninteresting in his character. As a result, a film without much innovation in the thriller genre, if you are a fan of old-school thrillers of the 90s, then “In a Quiet Mood” you will like, but for modern market demand trends, Randall’s tape looks weak.

At first it seems that this film is made according to the standard rules of thrillers and will be ordinary and unremarkable, but it is not. The film turned out to be a real find, and personally I am glad that I saw it.
This mysterious and cunning movie is deeper and more deceptive than we can imagine. The picture is thought out with an elusive detective story. Now it is very difficult to really surprise the spoiled movie audience. The same thriller surprised me personally. When you look at it to the end, you just want to say: “Break.”
It’s cool when movies make you think, analyze, guess, and then be surprised, shocked. This movie is just that, and something in it is discouraging and truly unexpected.
After two failed films, British director Adam Randall shoots his third film, which becomes a real hit for fans of this genre. The film is titled ' I See You'. In our Russian box office, the picture was given the name as 'In a quiet pool'. I think, probably, it was done so that the viewer understood that the story will be difficult and it will have its own shocking secrets.
We see a small town where a little boy has gone missing. A few years ago, this happened, and then the child disappeared again. The case is investigated by Detective Greg Harper, who is not up to the task, because at home the man has his own problems. His wife Jackie cheated on him, and their marriage is bursting at the seams. Greg doesn't want to lose Jackie, and he's willing to forgive her, but their son hates his mother and blames her for cheating. Meanwhile, family passions fade into the background, because these characters get the feeling that someone is watching them at home. . .
39: We know what to do, but we don’t. '
After watching this film, for a while you think about it, analyze everything, and the puzzle is formed, all the characters and their actions become clear. An intriguing, cunning thriller that has nothing to compare. The movie is interesting, and its originality and value has.
I liked how the director plays with the audience, how he confuses him, and soon puzzles him. The picture is shot atmospherically, mysteriously, cold tension is felt, I desperately want to understand everything.
The main roles here are played by a number of young and little-known actors, but everyone played without a note of falsehood: clean, and all good. After this picture, I remember actor John Tenney, who has been playing in movies for a long time, waiting for deserved fame. Here’s an interesting role for him.
Of course, Helen Hunt stands out here. This American actress is respected and has so many wonderful movies and TV shows with her. Immediately recalls the cult TV series ' Mad about you', films ' It is better ', ' What women want', 'Smerch', 'Make a wish'. But, of course, she is not recognized here in this new film. Age does not spare anyone.
The fact that the heroine Jackie cheated on her husband and yells at her here makes it illusion that Helen Hunt is younger, but still the sad fact remains that Helen looks very bad, so less and less every year plays in the movies.
If you like intricate movies, double bottom stories, pitfalls, deceptive thrillers, then this curious movie will attract attention. This quiet, cunning picture pleased me, and it was interesting to open it for me.
'In a Quiet Mouth' is an American detective thriller of 2019. The result, the movie is successful and mysterious, which has every chance to surprise and play with the nerves of the viewer. Thank you very much.
You know what frogging is? Wait to Google to open the door of the house of the Harper family without squeaking spoilers.
Don’t unnerve cop Greg (John Tenney), who is on edge after his wife Jackie (Helen Hunt) cheated. The latter is unable to regain the trust of her teenage son Connor (Juda Lewis) because of her impulsive act. And then a 10-year-old boy disappeared in the town, and the case was entrusted to the deceived spouse. It seems like something else could happen, but...
The writers managed to tighten the noose of intrigue even tighter, making you swallow, like air, hints scattered from the first frames of the tape. Sluggish beginning, like a fog envelopes incomprehensible at first glance details. You are led aside by scattered events, unsaid phrases of heroes and echoes of an old police investigation into missing children. I can’t cover the characters in simple words without revealing their secrets. Since the authors linked the motives of the participants in the action in the Gordian knot. Although some threads in it were superfluous, together they are intertwined in a tough detective thriller.
In this busy journey, acting takes a back seat. Helen Hunt, tightened by plastic surgery, does not interfere with the exaggerated emotions of Jude Lewis along with the oddities of other young actors. The main thing is that all the characters float in a dense mists of uncertainty to the final denouement, each with its own fragment of the map. And the closer the end of the story, the louder the sinister and protracted, like the horns of a steamer, musical themes sound. The more clearly from the fog of obsession emerges the silhouette of a fatal outcome.
I recommend you take a 90-minute trip with this movie. I think to reveal the true fairway of the plot will not be easy even for an experienced moviegoer.
In not the most famous film, not the most famous director, I decided to look for an interesting story for the evening. The reviews were encouraging, and the description was, in fact, very banal, but the value of such stories is not in the mix, but in how events develop further.
And actually the first part of the film was just such a banal mysticism, with not particularly frightening BU moments and otherworldly oddities. Only to this were added very repulsive characters, to watch for which well, it is not interesting, because they are not only that as people are unpleasant, so also all this otherworldly game they did not particularly bother, well think the TV itself turns on, things disappear, and the man who repairs you window, reports that the door to him opened some girl, although you have no girls in the house.
In parallel with the otherworldly line, we have a detective here about a child kidnapper leaving green folding knives at the crime scene. But do not expect this line of special development, it takes a tiny amount of timekeeping. But it introduces a black detective, because of which the incredible happened. I went to watch the film in dubbing. I don’t know if it was intended, or just the actor didn’t care, or maybe I just can’t take this pronunciation, but it was absolutely impossible to make out what this type mutters.
And so, when it seems that the film can be turned off, it really is worth the cut... no.
The film changes the main characters. In fact, the whole film seems to consist of two parts, which I love, something similar I saw in the undeservedly unknown Spanish film Uninvited Guest (2004), and in the Oscar-winning Parasites it was.
And the second half is much better than the first. Although the story revelations closer to the final are extremely predictable, and some are revealed too long, so I want to squander the film, rolling my eyes with the words: ' Yes, I already understood this, you can not delay, please'.
But, I have to give credit, it was shot very well, of course, there will be no frames that cut into memory here, but the work with the lighting and camera is at a high level, although in some places the film was too dark for me.
The music I would call great, but alas, it is too similar to the soundtrack of the movie The Killer (2015). As well as many other films. In some places, sounds were clearly heard from the nightmare machine from which the soundtrack to the Witch (2015) and the recent Lighthouse was written. And with the opening shots, I persistently caught the feeling of déjà vu, and then realized that shooting from above with a smoothly floating camera and this pumping soundtrack are very similar to the recent Upgrade, although cyberpunk in the disassembled film is not in any form.
Result
The film is absolutely not mandatory to watch, it is unlikely to be remembered for a long time, and the final twists are likely only to please you that you are so smart and figured them out in advance. But as entertainment for the evening, the film will be quite good.

Kwa-kwa It all starts out quite corny, and even a bit like a Scandinavian detective. There's kidnapping, there's a search for the kidnapper. This is where the platitudes end and the cups begin to fly. And then you definitely will not be bored, and as a good thriller should be, the tension will not keep you waiting. Strong enough that the film did not seem stretched and stoked interest in each next turn. However, especially unexpected turns for the sophisticated viewer in the film was not as much as expected, well, perhaps only one. And the director focuses more on the idea as a whole than on plot twists like “the killer is a gardener, or maybe not a gardener, maybe it’s his twin brother at all.” But is that a minus? What's the plus?Work of director and operator. It looks strange in places, but organically. The main thing is that it attracts attention, already well, especially for a novice director and no less a novice screenwriter. Soundtracks. At times it seemed that they were too dramatic for the moment, nevertheless pleasant for the ears. Owen Teague and Libe Barer played well. The disgust for Owen’s character (so long as he doesn’t get stuck in the role of an eternally strange teenager) and Libe’s sympathy, as the director intended, happened. Unlike the absolutely stone son Helen Hunt and John Tenney. The latter, by the way, although they were one of the central characters, the impression did not produce much, as if they were not there. Well, my weakness - stylish colors and the picture as a whole was very pleased. The atmosphere is very important and can pull even a very bad movie. Fortunately, “In a quiet pool” is not such and certainly recommended for viewing. 7 out of 10Original
We did not expect to see such an unassuming, but nevertheless intriguing action film from the authors of the dilogy 'Reid'. Okay, okay, don't throw rotten tomatoes. Unknown Adam Randall suddenly armed with flying cameras and filmed a grinding action in the spirit of John Wu. Okay, okay, wrong again. The promising newcomer managed to make a deft mixture of dry detective and gloomy thriller. Since the beginning of the film, a lot of questions arise that escalate some paranormal phenomenon. Then everything is clarified, and a certain youth hooligan frogging comes to the fore. You will learn about Frogging in the cinema.
In the end you think: all these usual things the creators wanted to surprise the viewer? Any fool on a stick would pay just like that for pennies. Ahn no. There will be one of those turns when its steep shape can make the head dizzy, eyes expand, legs fly into the mouth. For the sake of cinematic gloss, of course, some lines will be perfectly smoothed so that you do not want to cling to them critically. Revenge? Treason? Unfriendly? A thrill? Kidnapping and murder? What will the viewer choose to satisfy his hunger? By the way, don't forget to appreciate Helen Hunt's new face. It has already managed to scare many people to you-know-what. What?
If you are looking for a favorite for an entertaining evening, then 'In a quiet pool' is a great candidate not to be afraid of the name of the unknown director and the new face of Helen Hunt. By the way, although the original Movie is called ' I see you', do not immediately scold the localizers. This time the name was chosen quite successful and scrupulous. In fact, we're going to have to take a good look at the family we've been seeing from the beginning. Are they hiding something or are they in danger? Did they make a deal with the devil or were they punished by God? Just sit and break your head, while somewhere on the other side of the world the butterfly waved.
Sorry, there won't be sex, so don't expect to chase hairy. You just need not to touch your phone, cozy clog yourself in a blanket, put a large circle next to a hot gull with lemon and honey. Voila, perfect viewing ready. Fashionable all of itself-g 'Get knives', you can write, not standing nearby. And calm down, we do not agitate that here you will see a brilliant detective of the XXI century in all poses, that even the widths will unbutton and the snakes will fly out. Nothing like that! Moderately simple, but horribly interesting kinzo, which is made with love. Not the money, of course. Owen Teague also played a key role. This is Patrick Hoxtetter from the dilogy 'It'.
