So short and the soul is spoiled... In 2012, Ben Foster was already involved in Smuggling in the film of the same name with Mark Wahlberg. Balthasar Kormakur made that painting. After 12 years, old Foster has taken up the old!
The film by Brian Helgeland according to his own script, which, as it turns out, was written in 1995, to be honest, is significantly behind what came out in almost 30 years (since 1995, I mean).
If you pay attention to the plot of the picture, it is quite obvious that Helgeland was late with the theme of risk-charged fishermen ("Perfect Storm" did it much earlier), and in terms of smuggling (hello to Porakurov's "Contraband" and some other paintings), and in terms of the acquaintance of the main character Charlie (Toby Wallace) with the mulatto Mabel (Jenna Ortega) - as it resembles the first part of "Fast and Furious", eh?!
The film "Big Catch" attracts the attention of the viewer persona Tommy Lee Jones - this is perhaps its main plus. But the actor here is not so much and it is disappointing.
Like so much else that was shown in the picture. And the point is not so much that "Big Catch" was late with many storylines, but with the fact that much in the picture appears out of nowhere.
The theme of father and son, the theme of two brothers who have no background, but for some reason they are very much attached to each other, the attachment of the offspring to their baht (again without any tie) and the all-consuming responsibility towards one person who needs to return the ship.
It all looks weird. A lot of things are mixed up, but everything is implemented too superficially. In the same “Smuggling” there was one direct storyline with the exposure of some characters in the final stage of the film.
There are too many human stories in Big Catch that come out of nowhere and go nowhere. But it's IMHO. I don’t think you’ll get the same impression.

And “Big Catch” is a movie about very stupid guys who, having made one wrong step, do not reflect, do not think about “what was done wrong”, but again get into the mud, and drown in slime with each step taken deeper and deeper!
We lost one ship and we will find another. If we take another ship, we'll make a rash move and we'll get into it. Getting in, let's take another step and get stuck even harder! Brilliant! They don’t even think they’re doing something wrong!
P. S.
The finale of the picture makes you remember the film “No Place for Old Men Here”, where one of the characters in the picture in the person of Tommy Lee Jones philosophically argues: “Now the lawlessness is such that you can not understand where everything came from.” Not that I'm afraid of anyone... I knew it was a place where I had to be prepared to die, but I didn’t want to risk my life trying to overcome something I didn’t understand. It will not take long for the soul to get dirty.
So, the final part of "Big Catch" in part awakens thoughts about actions and their consequences, about the fact that someone has to stain his soul, raking up what someone else did. . .
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Enjoy your visit.
