"Product Commissioner": It's about them, or about us Scale and diversity is one of the most important criteria (at least for me) that gives a work of art a sense of quality. It would seem that a short meter in the cinema does not at all have to correspond to my fornication - they say, told the story and thank God. Maybe it is, but exactly as long as you do not come across such works as “Prodkomissar”, which was filmed by Moldovan guys and first presented to the general public in the local cinema “Patria”.
In a very short story, the authors managed to raise the theme of the relationship between fathers and children, immersed in the turmoil that reigned including in the territory of the present Republic of Moldova in the first quarter of the last century.
But the film is not about a “slice of history”, at least not only about him. The film is also about the inner world. And then the image of Alyoshka comes to the fore - the strongest in the film. As a person who is very familiar with Jungianism, I really liked how the archetype of the child is represented in the film through his image. I can’t help but say: the symbol of the child is strong not only as an idea, but also expressed brilliantly – thank you both to the young actor and the operators (I can’t throw out the frame with the apple, sorry for the spoiler).
But the main advantage of the film, in my humble conviction, is that the filmmakers deliberately refused to divide the characters into good and bad - all of them - not so much. In short, the “white” here is not light, and the “red” is not dark at all, and not vice versa! Of course, you will say, because this is Sholokhov, and he is exactly the one who is known that even the “Reds” were in no hurry to embellish, as well as to mar the white movement (this is being the main writer of the Soviet Union). It is so – Sholokhov is eternal, but the fact is that he is eternal thanks to such beautiful rethinkings. I am sure that this film will encourage many to download the book by Mikhail Alexandrovich. If so, start with stories.
What's the movie about? The revolution? Maybe. But I think we are! Anyone who sometimes turns on the TV, is interested in music, cinema – he will understand that the film is not “different times”, and the most that neither is ours! The same split in society that reaches the point of extreme rejection of the bearers of other values; a huge number of provocateurs who are ready to use their time; the same cotton men who try on the robes of executioners, and ... the same confused people who look with misunderstanding and fear at these dances of madmen.
The film could well have been a time-consuming mouthpiece for some of these people. But no, the filmmakers deliberately distanced themselves from it, showed us all from the outside. Thank you for that.
I am also very happy that I can finally go to the cinema and watch Moldovan films. During the screening in September 2019, there were several films – all within the framework of the international film festival “RAVAC”, and all are very good. I also really liked the movie Doyne.
