Those three-foot-long dolls are all gone, but wait a minute? They were already animals, just until some point, they did not possess the souls of dead psychopaths, after which the crocodile Gena, King Kong, ostrich and others seemed to be brutalized, honestly! Once they delighted children, and now everyone runs away from their abode, flashing their heels, as long as they do not eat visitors. True, sometimes there are misunderstandings, when rare passers-by or visitors still fall into terrible paws.
Everything was bad until the gloomy and silent Nicholas Cage came to this deafness, who ran into an absurd, but no less dangerous shelter, where he stayed all night to work out the repair of a punctured wheel. The topic of the breakdown is murky, and the fuck with it, because we have a different kind of history here, because it's interesting now. What exactly will happen to the hapless cleaner if huge creatures, stuffed with electronics, attack him?
In absentia, we will say that the director Kevin Lewis has everything captured, so the main character will walk around the institution without obstacles, calmly removing the real dung and at the same time cleaning up the muzzle of strapped robots, which long ago shortened all the schemes. Cage just so whoever does not take, this dude in the ram horn can not twist, because he has a weight category be healthy. Nikolka and toilets will be stripped, and the pinball game will stretch out, and he will famously dance more.
Hell knows what's going on here, but the bottom line is, Willie's Wonderland is a weird movie where everybody's been shaken up. Here you and stupid young people, and eccentric grandmother-sheriff, and a whole gang of toys, whose hands, or rather paws, elbow in blood. They don't care that the kids are now hamstered, have the courage to make a cupcake in plagued basements. Oh-ho-ho, keep us seven if the dark corridors don't get swamped with blood!
The plot, of course, is taken from the ceiling, sucked out of a finger and resembles a hole from a bagel, but the director will not offer us another, alas and ah. Gloomy Cage will break hari robots, chasing teenagers, throwing out garbage and pressing any emotions to the root. The artist, of course, is plagued, he will give heat in a bad performance, but here Kolyan has a completely different function. It requires a hard look, a minimum of words and more work. It will be, but it will have little effect on the film.
Lewis removes a fierce slob, in which the viewer is better not to go into details. The budget was small, so the final result came out cheap, rough and angry. They try to sell us horrors, but with them lies the main problem. “Wonderland Willie” does not scare, does not indulge in screamers, does not catch up with horror. Of course, the floor will slip from spilled oil and blood, but what is all the fuss about? Cage will only change his T-shirt, rub away from sewage and take a mop on a new one.
This picture can be seen as a kind of banter or parody, but do not expect anything more from it. Laughter for the sake of looking and forgetting, because the crew does not make the film noticeable, loud and spectacular. Savings in the frame and blossoms, although in some places the atmosphere is present, because often it is taken on his shoulders by our Nicolas, who looks here as poured, even if this game will not be for him the best in his career. In recent years, the actor has not appeared in anything, so what is there?
Comedy, you say? Oh, come on, you're full, it doesn't smell like humor. It is not clear what it is, what, what and why? “Wonderland of Willie” is sometimes watched on autopilot, flying bluntly inertia, when closer to the finale, the main character throws enemies with vengeance. Around it there will be complete anarchy, confusion and bacchanalia, so you should be prepared for the fact that all other participants of the corps de ballet will try on a wooden makintosh.
Whether for fun, or boredom in the box will play many, but without this film would have stalled. It already looks strange, as dolls-killers rarely collect laurels, unless they are Chucky, but the director in the clip do not meet such. Yes, there are episodes where Cage epically delivers a gorilla toilet or a piece of mop makes a rustle among birds, but such scenes will be scored with a dozen, if not less, which reduces the degree of insanity by an order of magnitude lower.
Maybe the script was originally delusional? Oh, that's it! But here it is not annoying, because everything is clear from the first minutes of the film. Crazy idea, seedy scenery, nouneyms in the background and Cage with a bucket on top. The kompachka is a noble one, so why not hit the local backwater with a shooting of some rough thrash, where the devil himself will break his leg? Well, yes, someone from this will not come into a wild delight, but cinema does not look like a masterpiece. Everyone has their own ...
To him even somehow ridiculous to make claims, stating with a serious mine of poor quality. No one is hiding it, come and spoon it with a full spoon, do not mess with it! If you watch this film in the evening, for example, half-eye and before going to bed, it will brighten up an hour and a half. Under the "Wonderland of Willie" you can even safely fall asleep, because in the end, the viewer does not lose anything. Just another weird project in Cage's piggy bank, that's all.
God be with him, where has ours never been? We'll sit down and see, we'll chide and forget, because there's nothing else to catch. The film looks smooth, without bright flashes and wow-turns, which at the end and ruins it. Even if a cheerful thrashak, but with a sweep, madness and even art house, we will all accept, but Lewis gives the public a very sterile product, where the declared star enthusiastically cuts into pinball, leans on soda and spits on the death of teenagers. And the grass does not grow there.
There is nothing more fun than spending time with the whole family in a cafe, where the audience is entertained by huge mechanized robots made in the form of large animals. But as with clowns, some people are very afraid of such things, which is what screenwriter J. O. Parsons decided to use when he created the plot for his short thrash horror film “Wally’s Wonderland”. However, Parsons had some complaints about the final result of the tape and was not against working on the mistakes and create a much larger and more memorable project. At some stage of development, director Kevin Lewis joined the project “Wonderland of Willie”, and Nicholas Cage received the main role in it.
The film takes place in the small provincial town of Hayesville, Nevada. There is a small amusement park and cafe, namely the “Wonderland of Willie”, which was closed some time ago due to a series of accidents with a bloody end. Staff and customers were killed in a collision with huge mechanical dolls and no one could understand why. Finally, the institution was closed, but it still remained in the city and one of the businessmen is even thinking about opening it again.
Nicolas Cage plays a mysterious man who drives past Haysville in a car and gets into an accident. He has no money to fix his car and is offered a one-night trip to Willie's Wonderland to do the cleaning. The only option is to accept. The hero picks up rags and a mop, brews with beer and begins work, periodically encountering animatronics who want to kill him.
The idea itself is very similar to the cult horror game Five Nights with Freddy, but only the filmmakers have reworked many details and made their story much more specific and fun. Nicholas Cage himself did not say a single word here and this is the main feature of his hero. We don't know his name or who he is, and we don't need to, because all Cage does is clean up the dirt, drink beer, and kill the robo-beasts in the cafe. No one is asking for more from him.
The robots themselves are made the old-fashioned way, without computer graphics and this is good, because the budget of the film was small and the authors understood that it was better to make monsters out of iron and plastic than to use bad graphics that will not please anyone and turn the film into a frankly passable craftsmanship. And thanks to the fact that the authors went to various technical tricks and forbade Cage to speak, the “Wonderland of Willie” even got around a small cult.
All in all, Willie’s Wonderland is a great comedy horror that resembles Five Nights with Freddy, but isn’t afraid to be an original and fun piece that feels perfectly detached from everything else. Maybe we will even see another film based on the original, which the authors constantly talk about.

No global cataclysms, including a pandemic, prevent Nick Cage, the favorite of millions, from steadily releasing new films with his participation. I just don’t know the actor who is acting in movies at this speed anymore – even Seagal didn’t star in his action films so often at the beginning of zero. However, such a comparison is not entirely correct - after all, Cage, despite a giant track record and an enviable variety of roles, even in the sixth decade, manages to take on a variety of roles with enviable frequency, one another is more complicated and eccentric. Honestly, after watching this film, it becomes clear that the constant comparisons of the Oscar winner with the same Bruce Willis are ridiculous and inappropriate. This is not an appearance in the same type of action movies for 10-15 minutes with a stone face. The representative of the Coppola clan somehow imperceptibly mimicked (through a series of failed projects, unfortunately) from the big screen superstar to the star of independent and experimental cinema as if specially created for those who are tired of stamped Hollywood fakes with flat heroes and the same plots. Here and here - in another project with a wonderful name "Willie's Wonderland" Cage as if to spite everyone in a row destroys all stereotypes making it impossible to talk about his person with some templates and dry phrases. Tired of stamped dialogue? Okay, his main unnamed character won't say a word in the whole movie! The constant accusations of overplay became a parable? No question, this time the hero of Cage in almost every scene will remain icy calm, which, however, does not detract from his charisma and acting talent. You can treat his personality differently and you can rightly criticize for being indiscriminate in projects, but it is useless to deny that there is simply no second such actor-nuggets in the world - against his background, any Hollywood star from his generation (not to mention the young ones) seems just hyped media stars.
The plot itself this time is simple and in retelling resembles a parody horror movie. The silent protagonist, traveling around the country, pierces the tires of his “sportsman” in a remote American town. Since you can pay for repairs only in cash, which he does not have, he is offered to work as a janitor in a children's amusement store. To such a bland case, GG approaches with all responsibility wiping out the accumulated dust with avid ambition. Who knew that this place would turn out to be a real beast of evil, and that children's toys of animals of human stature would turn out to be real demons in which an evil spirit was possessed, as was masterfully described, for example, in King's early stories. At night, as usual, cute-looking creatures come to life to deal with the next victim (the fact that Cage’s hero was not the first I think no one is surprised). But our hero is simply not killed. The way he with a stone face carries one plush bastard after another, leaving the creatures no chance to then throw energy and go play the game on some jukebox - it's just top! There was no such madness even in Mandy.
In order to somehow stretch the chronometers in the standard hour and a half, local stupid teenagers were introduced into the plot, against which Cage even in a silent state seems to be a downright brilliant actor (which, however, is not far from the truth). The way they dull through the film is almost crazier than Cage’s battles with a teddy gorilla and a radiation woman (or whoever it was). Seriously, the characters did not commit such stupid acts even in Scream and the first two parts of A Very Scary Movie. Dialogue and their actions are just darkness. But what Cage’s hero continues to do while getting drunk with energy drinks and taking one ghoul after another with an unperturbed appearance must be seen! Such cinematic madness cannot be described in words. Unfortunately, the screen shiza occupies, in principle, the entire timekeeping, which is the main problem of “Wonderland of Willie”. Fascinated by the eccentric form of presentation, director Kevin Lewiss completely forgot about the content. Compared to such a spectacle, even the outrageous “Mandy” will seem to you a film with many semantic layers and metaphorical messages. There is no double bottom and hidden meaning – it is just a cheerful thrash in the best sense of the word. Crazy, shocking, driving, just designed to turn off your head and laugh at all the nonsense that happens on the screen. A small timekeeping does not let you get bored, and the page of your favorite actor in which, as always, several already filmed projects are announced makes you hold your breath in anticipation of another movie madness. After that, it becomes finally clear that Cage is neither bad nor good, he just loves to shock the audience with his outrageousness. Well done this time!
He's not locked up with the dolls, they're with him!
A lonely silent wanderer on a cool car gets stuck in a backwater town. Unable to pay the repair shop to fix the car, he agrees to work off the debt by spending the night cleaning up Willie's Wonderland, an abandoned theme park full of animatronic characters who were once the darlings of children. But this place has its own dark secret, which the janitor will try to solve. The poor fellow has been lured into a death trap, or rather a waking nightmare, because the animatronic characters of Wonderland are constantly demanding sacrifices. However, Cage's hero is not going to give up so easily. He is willing to fight (but not willing to sacrifice his snack breaks) to make it through the morning. And those who did not know it, did not know it, but they were with it.
Once again, Nicholas Cage pleased fans with his signature game. And let them say that the actor “long gone into circulation” – it is hardly possible to say this, comparing with other representatives of the old guard. He took his niche and held it firmly. I noticed an interesting pattern: every year in Cage’s filmography there is a film that can hardly be called a passing one, and critics, audience assessments and comments hardly allow us to talk about failure. Starting with the already legendary “Mandy” in 2017, then “Spider-Man: Through Universes” (2018), “Beast Fury” and “Color from Other Worlds” (both in 2019), “Willie’s Wonderland” (2020), “Pig” (2021). Finally, in 2022, the unbearable weight of a huge talent. Of course, this creation is epochal can not be called, but its mission - entertainment - it performs with conscience.
There is an analogy with “A Very Scary Movie”, and in some ways with “The Terrible Will of the Gods” – the same parodies, sparkling humor and funny situations with a frank banter from the world of cinema. Nicholas Cage does not try to embellish, hide or jump above himself. He's just living off the scene. His character is silent (by the way, does not say a single phrase), but this silence says much more than one could imagine. Oddly enough, in such cases, the actor is usually charged with even greater responsibility for the behavior on the screen - every extra falsity in the game, an insincere antics are noticeable.
It can hardly be called a horror movie, although it has the most indirect relation to it. Rather, it’s a black comedy thrash, where even the monsters from Wonderland cause affection, although they deal with their opponents in the most terrible way. I think he will take a worthy place among representatives of his kind. It's just a pity there's no sequel. I would love to see it.
Nicolas Cage never ceases to amaze, starring in the most strange and repulsed projects, which 99% of Hollywood beau monde would never look. And although I do not always consider Nick’s choice successful, almost always his films are at least fascinating with their originality. So Willie's Wonderland attracted me with an interesting concept, as if (but not exactly) inspired by FNAF's popular horror game lineup. Well, I don't like FNAF, but Wonderland was able to make a proper impression.
A silent nameless man, in the person of Nick Cage himself, with a pierced wheel is not far from the town forgotten by all the gods, where a local mechanic offers barter. I mean, we're gonna fix your stove, and in return, do us a favor, clean up the local abandoned children's entertainment center, which is a cafe. You'll work the night and drive like new in the morning. Why not, it sounds like a plan. Old Nick, of course, agrees, and turns out to be locked in a building with insane animatronics who need to give a fight and clean up by the morning.
'Willy's Wonderland' is a pure thrash who doesn't hesitate to be himself. The phantasmagoric narrative is the hallmark and main highlight of the film. The behavior of an unnamed protagonist who follows his own clear schedule, no matter what, is insanely hilarious. No bloody murders, no crazy animatronics roaming the building and urban legends can stop the protagonist from completing the task. As they say, I see the goal, I see no obstacles.
In fact, on the charisma of Nick Cage and holds almost the entire project. Yes, the concept is not bad in itself, but with another actor in the lead role it would not look so cool. However, there is another thing that has a place in the picture - it is, oddly enough, morality. Willie's Wonderland has something to teach the viewer: change. The tape clearly contrasts two generations that have fundamentally different positions on the same issue. The elders are used to the bad and afraid to take a step to the side, and accordingly a new generation that is tired of living in fear, wanting to change the current state of affairs at all costs. Yes, the interpretation of the conflict of “fathers and children”, but in this kind of film, this is simply not expected.
Verdict: 'Willie's Wonderland' is farce, thrash, and sedition in its purest form. It's a movie that's made badly to end up being good. Definitely, the tape is designed for its audience, not for the mass audience. And as part of that audience, I definitely recommend Wonderland.
I, like, I think, many others after the trailer thought that this film will be the adaptation of the beloved game “five nights at freddy’s”, but no, the hope for this dispelled almost at the very beginning.
The only similarity of the film with games is the presence of animatronics and nothing else: no special Easter eggs for games, no recognizable characters, or even similar screamers. Although the beginning of the film promises a kind of inflating and frightening atmosphere, but in the end very quickly slides into an ordinary action. Although this is not a special loss for the film, but still I would like a little more flirtation with the nervous system in the name of maintaining a mystical atmosphere.
The plot is simple and quite banal: a cool silent hero, a quiet American town with its secret and suddenly fallen trials on its head. But despite the expected story, it is shown well and quite interesting.
However, most of the film pulls out still visual: excellent scenery, building a frame at height. Moderate color scheme and pleasant transitions of frames. Although, I confess, having a huge number of Cage's close-ups at the end starts to get a little annoying. Does the director have a fetish on his face?
Although this is forgiven, in Wonderland Willie Cage is better than ever. His “uniformity” in some century really came in handy and perfectly fit into the role of a silent brutal. His frown became the main feature of his character, and given the fact that he did not say a word throughout the film, it makes him very memorable. Well, the way he wets the robots and throws soda on schedule is generally something.
The rest of the characters in the film on the background of Cage pale. And, in fact, they are introduced purely as extras to promote the plot. Although sometimes it may seem that they are not necessary at all, but remove them and all, the plot will freeze at a dead point.
Well, what can be distinguished by a separate item: the soundtracks for the film are truly gorgeous, and I want to replenish my playlist with them.
Bottom line: the film is not quite perfect, there is something to complain about, but I do not want to do this and I will not, because initially I did not consider it as a serious work of cinema. This is a film for those who want to relax and get high from Cage.
Initially, it seems that this film is another sub-horror category 'G', shot on a bottle of beer and crumpled a hundred bucks, but in the end we have a great deconstruction of the genre.
The synopsis of the film is that in a small American town, somewhere in the outback, there is an old restaurant, on the stage of which animatronic dolls played - robots for entertainment. In short, the souls of maniacs and animatronics began to kill and eat people, the restaurant was closed, and then a series of murders also began in the local city. Locals realized that the glands went hunting and agreed with them - cans do not touch the residents, and they bring them for lunch "stuck" by a number of travelers. The nameless Cage was one of the victims. Last one.
Nicholas is the main content generator in the film. While a group of children in the background is trying to "classic horror" - running, screaming, hanging out in the middle of the restaurant, dying from the clutches of iron in the process - then the Cleaner does not touch the word at all. He didn't care about animatronics, demons, ghosts, killers, etc. - he was told to clean up at night, he cleans up. Periodic breaks for soda and pinball are mandatory.
The main deconstruction of the film is Cage. How many times during the game "FnaF" - the original source of the idea of animatronics - there was a desire to take the mount / pipe / wrench and disassemble the plush cogs? The janitor (as he is called in the credits) is a living embodiment of this idea. He's like the Rock Executioner in Doom - there's nothing left in the rooms he cleaned. No dust, no dirt... Only bags of spare parts, lying at the exit, remind that with each minute of the film the number of robots is rapidly decreasing.
What about the cleaner? The janitor is just doing his job. Did they jump on you in the bathroom? Knock his face off the urinal and clean it up. Attacked in the middle of the room? Kill the enemy with a pipe and clean up. Dust from the tables washed, the walls are shining clean, the remaining scrap metal is thrown out, the black "blood" of robots from the face is wiped - and then go to work. Cage’s unemotional face, not changing a single gram for the film, only causes more laughter and further enhances the senseless pathos – but the film is good.
It is a pity that the film has low ratings - people did not buy out the irony at all and did not understand that the film is so good, that it is not a "deep movie" with a serious and gloomy plot - this is a thrash comedy for an hour and a half, designed to pass the time and show that sometimes destroying the basics of the genre is fun.
You will not find so much cheap but high-quality causeless pathos anywhere else. The perfect movie to spend an hour and a half.
P.S. If you think about it, this is the best video game adaptation I've ever seen. It’s worth considering what’s wrong with the gaming film industry when the indie thrash horror is the best. . .
In this country the simplest scenery. Evil doesn’t need to look for lost souls – lost dolls are enough. This country is located in the heart of one-story America. And there are no heroes. Only drunken and tormented by internal strife unknown nicknamed "The Janitor" (The Janitor) is ready to resist evil.
***
With all the grotesqueness and obvious staged cheapness of this tape, it is difficult to consider it a failure. Everything is clean and sincere. The world of genre crafts is not trying to present as something highly artistic, at all, before us no more than a passing horror. Grieving Nick Cage fully fits the setting. There is something attractive about it.
Before us is a frankly bad movie, created in full accordance with the unwritten canons of bad cinema. And here it is already surprising to discuss the subtext of the tape, which is also incredibly simple: the struggle between good and evil. Some are good, some are bad. There are doubters and their fate is sealed.
And there are no hints and ambiguities. Except that the theme of puppets indicates that evil is most looking for ways to children's souls. How can I disagree?
And how can one criticize a modestly made parable about the duel of Good with Evil? Moreover, the format is more than clear to the audience, invisibly recalling the masterpieces of Wes Craven, Robert Rodriguez and John Carpenter.
I like this much more than pseudo-intellectual dull searches or big-budget blockbusters with confused moral values. Here he is, a modern knight, Nicholas Cage. The battle with evil for him brings redemptive light.

You can talk about Wonderland Willie for a long time and with heat. For someone, this is a wretched thrash, not worth a second of precious time, for someone an original film shot on gum wrappers. Nevertheless, the film is not inferior to the tearing cinemas of the second Venom, because he does not even claim universal recognition and thereby allows you to enjoy every minute of it.
The directorial work in this tape corresponds to the budget, somehow masking cheapness, and also corresponds to the genre, giving dynamics even in sagging moments. Close-ups mainly focus on Coppola, revealing its brutality, thereby creating an atmosphere of a testosterone explosion. Some shots are so ferocious that real men should have goosebumps running down their backs. The only thing that hurts the eye is the color. Too sharp, sometimes acidic. At the beginning of the film, I really wanted to squint, although it is unknown from the flower or from the stardom of Nicholas.
It’s hard to say anything about acting. If you do not focus on the main character, secondary friends either overplay or do not play, which is why they somehow do not want to remember. Coppola, on the other hand, is just dragging a movie, and he never says a word. The facial expressions of Nicholas are very attractive and lively. At the right moments, he only reveals the character with the help of facial expressions.
The plot is simple, but this does not mean that he is deprived of his elements or mistaken in their construction. The exposition is presented in the course of the narrative. Motivation of secondary characters is revealed. The only one covered in the fog of uncertainty is the main character. What was this done for? It seems that the viewer identifies him with himself. It’s like you’re personally dealing with abandoned maniac stands, the backstory of GG is your backstory, its strength is your strength. This is a great way to watch.
In general, the film is good, but the overall high rating does not add up. There are bad moments, there are good ones. Everyone will find what he does not like, and what will cause agitation.

When I am asked why famous, great actors get paid with a bunch of zeros at the end, I can give them an example of this movie.
In fact, he only leaves on two things:
(a) The unrestrained charisma of Nicholas Cage and this is the basis of everything here.
(b) The soundtrack and work with sound on a very worthy film for this level.
What to expect an unprepared viewer from the film and is it worth watching?
Well, if you wandered here by accident, then there is a risk that you do not understand the thrill of the film and you should not watch it. An hour of life will go to nothing.
BUT!
1) If you know the genre of thrash movies. You understand why this movie is made and for what purpose;
2) If you are a fan of FNAF or like animatronics;
(3) If you like indie cinema with budgets of two boxes of beer, a bucket of ketchup and one Chevrolet Camaro;
(4) If you like Nicolas Cage and his work in both big-budget films and amateur projects;
(5) If you watch movies not to strain your brain and search for deeper meanings. . .
From this film you will get real ecstasy when watching. This is a reference sample 'treshatin', but not shot in diarrhea-bleachy style on camera for a ruble. Operator's work is well done. There's no plot. The background at the entanglement is explained to us at a quite adequate level, with the presence of logical causal relationships. In short, the approach to the production of low-grade cinema turned out to be truly worthy, which, in conjunction with the guest Hollywood star and the downhill sound, gave its result.

On the thrash-movie scale. There's nothing more to say. I repeat - unprepared people, ' not in the topic', not recommended for viewing!
I rarely leave comments after watching, but I really wanted to speak.
The film is treble, not perfect, but damn interesting and fascinating. After watching, I have a minimum of complaints and a lot of positive thoughts.
A good, albeit simple, plot and perfectly played actors - stupid teenagers and no less stupid city residents who believe that tame a rabid dog they will not one day become its victims.
The role of Nicolas Cage also deserves the highest praise - the silent and stubborn protagonist he played, in my eyes the best protagonist of the entire horror segment combined.
From FNAF here is minimal - the similarity is only in animatronics and a little plot, and in general the picture, I repeat, is independent and interesting. I will definitely add it to the list of films I want to watch.
Killer robots against the dumb and brutal Nicholas Cage
Nick Cage's journey through the universe of disgusting cinema has been going on for about 20 years. In his 50s he must, if his health and the Lord permit, continue his research for decades to come. Or is he, like the weeping Alexander, ready to accept that there are no worlds left to conquer?
His last trip through the sewers does not feel much enthusiasm. We could at least once believe that Nick would give his best. Whether he threw vampires into crushers or dropped a Ford Mustang off a cliff, Nick has always been the hardest-working man in the greenhouse. From time to time, the works bore fruit in the form of 'Mandy' or ' Color from space'.
For much of this bizarre film about destroying robot toys, he does nothing at all, despite appearing in almost every scene. His nameless character remains silent throughout the film. For the first 30 minutes or so, after he drives into a scary town in Nebraska, he just stands there and watches something happen somewhere nearby. Maybe he wasn't even given the script. Perhaps he was just told where to hide while animatronic caresses and alligators gnaw at curious teenagers.
Clearly inspired by the terrifying mechanical creatures traumatizing American children at Chuck E Cheese establishments - fortunately, there has never been such a thing as in Willie's Wonderland 39, where a group of serial killers perform a satanic ceremony that transports their consciousness into anthropomorphic parasites. Unhappy Nick must get rid of the possessed creatures and make the attraction safe for visitors again. No one is likely to genuinely call Willie’s Wonderland 39 a good movie, but it’s garbage and it has positive aspects. This is a horror comedy - as harmless as it is empty.
Can Cage be blamed for putting his efforts into this project? Along with the rights to use the song Freebird in the final scene, his fee was by far the only significant expense item in the budget. But, if Nick hadn't said 'yes', you'd never have the chance to consider the film's modest merits before watching something else. This once-good actor has done the movie industry a favor.
I remember, after the release of "Beast Fury" & #39; the Internet joked that Nicholas Coppola will star mainly in black comedies and cheap horror films. Did anyone think the joke would be prophetic? I guess so.
The set here is standard for most horror - Nicholas K appears in the image of a sullen man whose car breaks down in the American wilderness. In order to pay for its repair, the bearded silent man agrees to a return service - to bring gloss and gloss to the Wonderland of Willy', a local family institution. The work is not complicated, but the inhabitants of the town do not report the beard of all its details, namely, that this very "Wonderland" & #39; inhabit terrible outwardly and extremely bloodthirsty growth dolls. . .
Further, as the plot develops, albeit idiotic, then nevertheless, Nicholas K will confidently solo, pushing everyone else to the background. Being a kind of mixture of Kurosawa's familiar from the films & #39; silent samurai' and a ferocious berserker from Scandinavian legends, he turns all the others into the same scenery as the walls of the institution in which the plot unfolds.
So what's the bottom line? With the right approach to creating ' Wonderland' (writing, directing, casting, etc.), it could be a good thriller, with suspense, drama and revealing characters, as in ' Lord of the Dolls' or ' Dead Silence' well, or a good black comedy in the spirit ' Traps for Tourists' However, Lewis’s emphasis on the incredible coolness of Nicholas K and the impenetrable stupidity of everyone else turned cinema into a fierce thrash. Unfortunately. . .
Films in the genre 'Thrash' always have a mixed reaction among film lovers. Although seemingly meaningless movie entertainment with elements of ketchup, what to expect from this? But no, many people need to see a meaningful story. Although in such films he is conditional. Fans of this work understand this and enjoy the spectacle itself, often with an abundance of minced meat. When in the category of the film genre appears definition 'Thrash', let and together with 'horrors, comedy, action movie, etc.' - you need to tune in to the usual urine, without thinking about the semantic load, which in such films still sometimes there.
'Wonderland Willy' - typical thrash with one BUT. The main role is played by Nicolas Cage. The same Cage that received the award ' Oscar' and starred in a considerable number of cool films (' Rock', ' Air Prison', ' National Treasure', ' Ghost Rider', ' Faceless' and many others). True in recent years, ten mired in second-rate cinema, which is ' Wonderland Willy'.
In this film, Cage's hero is a silent and harsh type, who by chance was locked in the entertainment center for cleaning the building itself.
Our hero does not yet know that this center has been bypassed by all residents for ten years. According to legend, the animators who worked there were maniacs who kidnapped children. And when the feds and the special forces came to arrest them, they saw a pentagram, at the ends of which lay the carcasses of these inhumans.
After all that happened, the owner of the entertainment center changed and everything went well, but gradually the dolls began to create game. Now not only with children, but also with ordinary residents. And the new owner, together with the sheriff, makes a deal with monsters. Under the terms, the conspirators will bring random travelers to the center every night, and the robo-dolls will not touch the locals.
But this time they miscalculated. Cage's hero is not just silent and walks with a frowning expression. During cleaning, he notices that the dolls are moving. And at one point, they begin their evil game, the purpose of which is a sullen janitor-involuntarily. But they have not yet realized that they attacked the hunter and now the robo-dolls themselves will have a bad night in their own lair.
What I want to mention is the game of Nicolas Cage. This film should be watched only because of the silent protagonist. Specific and ambiguous, with certain pens, in the form of drinking energy on the alarm clock, and even during this process, playing and dancing at the slot machine. The character is cool. In every way. Cage's charisma is compelling. The same facial expression in different scenes causes different emotions. You laugh somewhere, you empathize somewhere. The rest of the actors pale against this background, although they are not lost on the general plan.
In general, the atmosphere of the film is at a good level. He's funny because of the specifics of what's going on. Where else can you see the urine of robotic baby dolls? The only question that can arise after watching is who is the main character? How did he become, where he was going, and why did he fit into this hellish kitchen so easily? But this is secondary.
The film is not boring, the spectacle is at a good level, despite the low budget. You can watch all lovers of black humor, as well as just in the evening, lying on the couch or gathering together. This movie will not leave anyone indifferent.
Nicholas Cage triumphantly returned in the film 'Mandy', which received recognition on the wave of popularity of the genre of retrowave, i.e. nostalgia for the eighties. Now he's in what I think is his most unusual role - a cool, silent janitor trapped in a damned ride building with robots possessed by evil ghosts. Many people compare the plot with the legendary horror game Five Nights at Freddy's with a similar plot, however, the director had not heard of it at that time. Moreover, a similar film was released years earlier, but already based on a children's television program. However, the plot of the film and the game have so much in common that I doubt if the director really did not rely on the latter. But it doesn't matter.
'Wonderland Willie' - a vivid example of a retrowave in the cinema: here you and a cool man and creepy monsters and a crazy plot and all under the glow of colorful lights and the sounds of synth-pop. Cage's character is absolutely unfazed, punctual to the absurd and an anti-hero - he leaves the girl alone with the evil robot, handing her a knife, and he leaves because he has a break, and while the girl tries to survive, he calmly drinks soda and plays pinball, as if everything is okay. It is frightening to think what is going on in his head and what kind of life he leads. One thing is clear - the Cleaner served in the army, as indicated by the soldiers' badges hanging in the car at the beginning of the film. It is purely aesthetic pleasure to watch the restaurant literally transform from under the confident hand of the Cleaner. Cool, neat, punctual and absolutely silent hero is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary roles of Nicholas Cage.
The plot as a whole is almost indistinguishable from the plot of the game Five Nights at Freddys with the introduction of more participants and authorities. The excellent work of the operator in terms of playing with angles adds to the atmosphere of the eighties, and the soundtrack does not cause any complaints, especially the title song. I will definitely review this film again. For fans of the game Five nights at Freddys, it will serve as a great addition to the universe of the franchise and it can be considered its indirect adaptation – as I wrote, they have a lot in common.
Too bad Cage isn't in FNAF itself. It wouldn't be so scary to play.
In recent years, it’s hard to expect anything from a film starring Nicolas Cage. He already taught us that he slid to the bottom, filming everything in a row. Some works are quite lookable, but his past merits and roles are very far away.
This job is a real thrash. A film without any special message, without hidden motives and moral teachings is just fun. This night for the group of teenagers became a real hell, and for the silent character Cage - entertainment. He was like a superhero fighting evil. His gaze, his frenzied eyes and deep puffing added heat to the atmosphere, which was already quoted at a good level. Still, no matter what, Nicholas Cage is a talent, an actor with a larger letter, unfortunately, a little early released in circulation.
It was fun. The real is entertaining, bloody and merciless. With a small timekeeping of 80 minutes, there was simply no reason and time to get bored, because there was a real brain explosion constantly occurring (literally and figuratively). These battles with animatronics looked alive and just cool, like watching some horror movie from the 80s. Just like nostalgia of that time and the fact that did not really resort to computer special effects, goes into the hands of the tape. This puppet horror is like a breath of fresh air among the monotonous horrors of recent times.
That was cool. Cage's character looked cold-blooded and mysterious. We were not told a word about who he was. The character who did not say a word caused a huge interest in his person and just whipped up a degree with his gloom. His rage with which he rushed into battle gave a strong impetus to the plot, and it was Cage who made the film. Everyone else doesn't count, it's Nick who gets all the attention. He clearly has a little not all right with the head (his character, to be more precise), but charisma and courage do not take.
I recommend it! A real cheerful thrashka, which does not cause disgust, but makes ' scorch & #39; from what he saw. A great movie that sends greetings to the children of the 80s. I enjoyed what I saw, it was not boring.
'Wonderland Willie' very easy to miss. You don't have to do a thorough investigation to see if there's a clear thrash. However, there are several points that still make you look in the direction of this tape - the participation of Nicholas Cage and the obvious homage to the already legendary computer game Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF).
Cage's hero doesn't say much. He is a very cool guy who sticks to a strict schedule and always achieves his goals. If they say they'll fix a car for tidying up a long-abandoned children's cafe, it will do 250% of its job. And this can not prevent neither terrible animatronics, nor screaming teenagers, nor the local sheriff.
The film skillfully uses the atmosphere of old horror films (1970-80-ies): then special effects were practically not used, contented with ordinary makeup and costumes, and the characters and plot were always template. This is being manipulated by the filmmakers. However, it is not for nothing that the plot is based on the well-known FNAF franchise among gamers, the protagonist is constantly distracted by the mandatory break between game sessions. And no matter what right in front of him may be an obsessed animatronic with a chainsaw - schedule and rest are more important!
It is unlikely that you will look for a deep meaning or a dashingly twisted plot in this tape - such a film is needed solely to laugh at the stupidity of the characters and distract from the annoying fuss.
So, listen up, Nicholas began with an imperious voice. I’ll sign up for this movie if they cut out all the lines (not to learn the script), make my character a pathological alconaut, and let me wet animatronics alone.
- Of course. - Lewis smiled timidly.
The main character, an unnamed racer (?) gets into the muzzle right on a deserted highway. Fortunately, he is picked up and taken to a seedy town, where it is said that repairing the car can be worked out by night shift in the now closed amusement park ' Wonderland Willy' The hero takes up the case without arguing, unaware that this night may be his last. Or not?
It's actually a very strange movie. Very. Reminds me of 'Axe'. Adam Greene is not a brute, but a total lack of seriousness. This film can not be watched with a serious mine and wait for some revelations, do not wait for a new breakthrough in the acting career of our beloved Nicholas, do not expect anything at all. Watching and smiling slyly.
There's a lot to smile about. In general, the authors did not even think about the script, the character or the villains. They are probably tired of the fact that in FNAF the main character steadfastly endured the night, fleeing from evil animatronics that decided to recoup them in full. Do you think Cage will survive hiding in the dark corners of the park from the ubiquitous puppet creatures? Yeah, now. Give him a knife, a toothbrush and a can of beer, and he'll give you Wonderland 39!
And all the characters - consider faceless youth - are needed in order to arrange a bloody feast. Oh, for God's sake, I remember old slashers. There is even a beautiful blonde here!
The same is true of the monsters themselves. First, they are talking, and in the best traditions of the demons of ' Evil Dead' like to sharpen or even go to joke to lure stupid heroes. Secondly, no matter how they try to scare... it does not work. Honestly, from the first shots they seem like some Chinese copies of Freddie Fazber and his friends, clutched to mock the original. They even invented a backstory. And then there's the Purple Man, yes.
But the trouble is that the authors stumbled over their own possibilities - the film is very faded. If 'Appor' had enthusiasm, atmosphere, memorable maniac, blood and intestines, then there is nothing. There is blood, but it does not play a special role, because there is no atmosphere. Think of a couple of dark rooms... and that’s it. The camera during the action jumps so that not a damn thing is not clear who is where and what is doing. Characters are what aren't. And in trying to make animatronics funny, the authors completely forgot to make them interesting. Honestly, less than an hour has passed, and I don’t remember who is there. They are empty, banal and devoid of their zest, just such as to fall into the soul. I don't know if there's any particular idea behind it, but if there is, it's bad - it didn't work. With this idea in hand, you could make a drive action movie in the spirit of John Wick, and that would be great. But alas.
As for Cage, I am glad that the actor is slowly getting out of the niche of grayness and trying to move his role towards psychopaths. Yes, the paintings do not always shine with sharpness, but in them Nicholas tries to be remembered by the viewer. So it is. What to say, in this film he does not even have to open his mouth - a harsh face will say everything.
'Wonderland Willie' could be a cool and fervent thrash, but alas, except for the idea and Cage he has nothing to offer. This would be a cool alternative to the already boring FNAF series.
Surprisingly, the vast majority of reviews here are positive. Most likely, only Cage fans watched it. And those who are looking for a cracker for the evening.
What about the movie? Imagine eating a camaro in the most remote places in America. Tightly kill yourself wheels on carefully laid along the road spikes. You come across a Good Samaritan who is ready to take your car to the city. And inadvertently it turns out that the thorns were laid out by the local sheriff. What to do, you will have to pay for the repair of the car, night work in an abandoned amusement park.
You say, inconsistency. But, no. It's actually a film about stoicism. Only by accepting the hardships of fate can we learn the right lessons. Besides the hard work of the cleaner. And cleaning up after others, like trying to take out dirt and garbage (even from your head), will never be considered worthy, and will never be completed. There will always be someone in the way. But even then, you can not forget about rest. No matter where you are, you should always stop in time and take your soul away. Beer and pinball are not the worst, if you ask me. In addition, be brief, so as not to litter again.
So what's the movie about? In my subjective opinion, do it normally, get rid of the obstacles. As a reward, you get a schoolgirl mulatto. The main thing is to always have a beer in the bag.
Wise and inspiring cinema. That is why it is more valuable in 21 years, where gray morality, character types, mandatory in the film. A'Wonderland Willy', in turn, once again hints to us, the audience, that you should not bend under the changing world. Neither did the nameless hero Nicholas Cage.
(approximately 9 minutes of the film)
Wonderland Willy
Someone put a spike on the road, the wheel flattened. Is that a problem for Nicholas Cage? Nope. He's ready to pay with a card to repair the car, but there's no internet in the area. Is that a problem for Nicholas Cage? Nope. The man agrees to work in a local children's amusement park, where giant toys devour everyone. Is this a problem for Nicholas Cage?
No, damn it! Nicolas Cage has no problems, he is one of the coolest actors of our time. Man became a legend back in the 90s, after the release of “Leaving Las Vegas”, when he received (absolutely deserved, emphasize) Oscar. He must be respected. An actor who has delighted us for more than 30 years.
Now they are roaring over him, pouring mud over him - allegedly drowned in thrash, allegedly bankrupt, allegedly it is time for Nicholas to retire and blah blah blah. I don't care. I love Nicholas, I always will, period.
What does Cage do in Willie's Wonderland? Look carefully. Yes, he throws hellish toys into porridge, but most importantly, he cleans! The man is trying to clean the dirt, make this rotten world a little better. He doesn't have to talk. His hero is silent for an hour and a half, cuts off the heads of toys and cleans.
This is a one-off movie (the director lacks experience, and the script can be slightly framed), of course. Young heroes (one hundred percent) were added stupidly for meat. But it has a message. Who are the villains? Toys? You're sure to open your eyes. All evil comes from people. People are terrible. People are disgusting.
“Mandy” was cooler, no doubt (there the visual of Cosmatos did its job). In any case, “Willie’s Wonderland” went well, not annoying. A medium genre film canvas (category B). For the fight in the toilet with a monkey, thank you. Cage is going horror, no matter what. Let them continue in this way.
Better Wonderland Willie than another faceless action movie.
6 out of 10
This is a category B slasher, where cranberry sauce begins to splash on the screen after 2 minutes.
I liked
We'll start with a good start. From the very beginning.
Nicolas Cage has finally found his calling - festivals ' meat ' movies.
Practically the whole picture is based on the charisma of Cage, 90%.
The remaining 10 are puns with 'timer' and why no one thought of it before.
Also, there is an almost instantaneous disclosure of the basis of the plot. The film immediately says: ' we know you're here because of FNaF, so let's not pull our tail for the cat'.
And that will go to the disadvantages.
History is sagging, it's hard. In the first 10 minutes, we are told, not even hinted, that the locals are aware - then we sit almost the entire movie with the thesis ' it's just dumb' - and only in the third third are their motivations revealed to us.
Behavior of monsters too ' just stupid'
They have in front of them ' Cage' scores one of them with a broken mop, then brutally spreads, and goes on a break; then continues to work.
And what is their reaction to this, clearly, rebuffed behavior? Attack the whole crowd?! To stand in a stupor before the end of the film? No, they decide to continue to attack one at a time.
And ' the cherry on the cake' becoming teens...
Let me explain. Teenagers in slashers are not stupid - they either don't know about the threat; or panic with the surprise. And these 'just dumb'. They know where they are, but they are separated, ' secluded ' and panic.
It's not Level B. Not even C or F. They invented the category G.
And finally:
Four pluses for Cage's character.
.
One plus for the intended category B.
Despite the dubious budget and uncomplicated plot, the picture unexpectedly left only pleasant impressions.
'Wonderland Willie' - this is not a horror, but at the same time not the level of parody with Marlon Winas, this is a thrash attraction, which personally caused me only positive emotions.
The hero of Nicolas Cage resembles the protagonist of the video game, who was given an easy level of complexity, he is silent, brutal, and able to twist anyone into a ram horn. This is all Nicholas Cage, who is becoming more and more like Chuck Norris.
The action scenes are somewhat reminiscent of episodes ' A very scary movie', watching them is difficult to restrain hysterical laughter from what is happening, and this is beautiful.
And do not be afraid of a small budget, the project looks very decent, and if you do not look, then 'cheap' almost not noticeable.
This is the same film during which you simply do not want to ask any questions, but you want to turn off your brain, relax and enjoy the show.
I recommend watching!
Nicolas Cage is brutally silent, brutally drinks beer, brutally plays pinpong and brutally wets traveling animatronics.
This is my first review.
Nicholas Cage was the actor of our childhood, the hero of such cult films as The Rock, Air Prison, Gone in 60 Seconds and Without Face. A great role in the Treasure of the Nation and Ghost Rider and an incredibly cool role in the Armory Baron. Even the role in the movie Kick-Ass was successful.
Unfortunately, it is difficult for me to assess his acting skills in the way that various critics and reviewers do.
However, Cage has always been and remains a great actor for me.
And now he starred in the role of an unnamed man, evil fate and someone else's will found himself in a remote town, in which he is offered to work as a cleaner in a diner ' Wonderland Willy', for which he will be repaired car.
The plot of the film is not very unique, and many compare it to the game FNAF (Five Nights at Freddy's') because of the concept. There is no deep study of the characters, the events preceding the events are told only for what would simply be.
But it's all small things. For the film was originally presented as 'tresh-movie' in fact 'black comedy' It's hard to call it a horror unless you're afraid of animatronics. Yes, and comedy only because of the comic events, because jokes in it do not joke, and in general there are not very many dialogues.
But Cage here, to me, is great. He never said a word in the whole movie. At the same time, it looks so harmonious and unusual that one can only admire it.
I cannot say whether I recommend this film or not, since people have different tastes, but it definitely came to me, and now it is ' standing on my shelf ' next to 'Homicide Holidays'. I will review it periodically. Not in the hope of seeing something new, but simply laughing at the absurdity and comicality of the situation.
Yes, Nicholas Coppola has managed to choose a project that is one (or almost) fun to watch. Although there is enough frank thrashing in his career in recent years, it is still worth highlighting three projects for which loyal viewers from the CIS are not ashamed. This is 'Mandy', 'Color from Other Worlds', 'Wonderland Willy'. There was another seemingly sane movie about parents who make game with children or vice versa, but have not yet looked. In any case, the Hon. Nicholas Coppola manages to remain relevant even in the early twenties of the 21st century. Many others can only envy and bite the knees, if the elbows have long been gnawed.
It is easy to describe what is happening in 'Wonderland Willy', not so easy. You can try, but you will not be able to convey the frankly exciting mood of a horror action movie. You gotta see it. Preferably with your own eyes, if you have not drilled them with a drill after acquaintance with a number of recent masterpieces & #39; nephew of Francis Ford. You are waiting for a bunch of drunk beer of unknown origin, brilliant productions of fights with animatronic dolls and a passionate bed scene with a bloated baby in a short skirt. Is that enough? Then enjoy the sparkling game of Nicholas Coppola. He did not play, but became a man who can.
While watching, it was fun to watch the stubbornly silent bearded protagonist. Usually, we are infuriated that the protagonists are not revealed for the entire film, they say that the more important timekeeping was spent. On the one hand, it is interesting to know the answers to 3 questions: where does a man have a cool 'Chevrolet' what kind of drink he drinks so enthusiastically every half hour or hour and how many women he arranged ' show with the language ' that he stopped saying at least short ' Yes' On the other hand, in the bearded Nicholas Coppola must remain a mystery, which is not solved. The main thing is a man in uniform to play muscles and kick cute ass to brutal dolls.
In general, 'Wonderland Willy' is a perfect choice for meeting ardent friends with whom you have not met in a long time. Just drinking beer and chatting about boring lives, if not an option, then - voila! - turn on this movie and relax with a bearded macho in a locked room. Yes, you will scold the film for its secondary, cheap effects, or dumb plot. But you have to be such a snob after drinking beer to muddy the American Movie. Someone better write a strong kick in the ass with the statement that he is not a friend more than your company. Nicholas Coppola. He's Nikolai Cage, aka a man-meme, aka a failed Superman. He's back. How long?
The main character, whose name we will never know (but we do know that the actor who played his name is Nicholas Cage), races in his Chevrolet Camaro on a deserted track, lost somewhere in the vastness of the United States. And here's the bad luck! Some smart guy threw police thorns on the road and the hero punched the wheels on his beautiful swallow! There is money, but on the map, but there is no ATM in the district and the main character decides to clean up the barter in a small entertainment center called “Willy Wonderland”. And in gratitude for cleaning, the local mechanic will fix the Camaro. The exchange seems to be honest, but soon the hero realizes that some game is happening in the amusement park, because animatronic growth dolls come to life and strive to pluck a piece of flesh from Nick Cage.
Trying to get out, he finds out that the doors are tightly closed and he is unlikely to get out of the entertainment center. He was locked up with the killer dolls! Although not... They were locked up with him! Because Nick Cage, whose role is registered in the film as “The Cleaner”, as befits a guardian of cleanliness, will bring order to “Willie’s Wonderland” and will not stop cleaning walls and ceilings. If it is clean, it is in full program.
I think that’s why Cage is in this film “The Cleaner”, because he cleans the evil from the amusement park and from the town, which has long lived in anticipation that the animatronic dolls-giants will come for someone from the locals. Immediately it is worth saying that Mr. Proper, Mr. Muscule, as well as the knight from the advertising of cleaning cream Cif is far (as far as China) to the skills, talents and capabilities of the Cleaner performed by Nick Cage.
Charging with a beer (or maybe it is an energy worker) at a strictly allotted time (a timer is activated on the Cleaner’s wristwatch and he goes to drink), he washes room after room, along the way draining dolls and destroying them in a variety of ways. One of the methods of killing he clearly saw in “American History X”, where the hero of Ed Norton brutally kills a black guy, putting his face on the curb. I am still inclined to believe that the Cleaner drank an energy drink, for after each use he was like an Energizer rushing around the center and inducing a marathon.
And if you go to IMDb, confirm your guess: "On the jar 'PUNCH', a fictional energy drink that the character of Nicholas Cage drinks in the film, it says: ' A handful of caffeine for your kiss'."
Of course, “Willie’s Wonderland” is a thrashing horror film, because according to the plot, its plot content, the presence of very extraordinary villains, the picture is such – thrashy. But there is something in it that attracts attention and makes you look to the end. Maybe the absurdity of the situation, maybe giant dolls at a glance that you want to escape from the Wonderland of Willie and forget it like a terrible dream. Or maybe it’s all about the brutal look of Nick Cage, each film with which is a new story. Different from many others. Throughout his career, only Cage has not fought, but never with growth animatronic dolls. And this hour has come!
In general, Nicolas Cage should be given credit. Yes, he often stars in consumer goods, but the actor does not shy away from this and consistently goes his way. He made a name for himself a long time ago, the viewer loved him for the mass of paintings released in the 80-90s, now Nick can shoot where he sees fit and give an opportunity to average directors and actors to work with him on the same stage. In principle, Nick is an exception among Hollywood celebrities, because he does not care about the light bulb that the movie he is filming. At first, I thought he just didn’t know how to choose less worthwhile projects, but now I tend to believe that the actor is just getting high and working where he wants. Take the same Bruce Willis or John Travolta - even today they try to play cool macho, something heroic in the frame, Willis constantly with his McClain grin on his face. Time goes by, but nothing changes, but Cage is burning with napalm!
In Willie's Wonderland, he went a step further and didn't drop a word in an hour and a half! Complete zero, just movements, because apart from the words from Nick here and emotions can not wait! According to the actor, he has long wanted to play a silent character – this hour has also come!
The zeal with which he dealt with animatronic dolls appreciated and critics – Cage once again confirmed the status of a guy who can clean the face of anyone, whether it’s a reeling marine (“The Rock”), a Satanist preoccupied with the occult (“Crazy Riding”) or a horde of killer dolls.
Do not treat this film as a real horror film, because “Willie’s Wonderland” is an acid version of horror with an abundance of thrash, a banter over horror clichés and a frighteningly silent Cage in the first roles.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
It’s no secret that over the past few years, Chris Columbus and Jason Bloom have been unsuccessfully trying to film Scott Coatson’s Five Nights at Freddy’s game, which immediately gained popularity in 2014, instantly overgrown with sequels, series of books and even comics. Meanwhile, when eminent filmmakers can not decide on the adaptation of such a simple in terms of the plot of the original source, the director Kevin Lewis joked, who betrayed his fantasy on this topic, which eventually became “Willy’s Wonderland”.
The plot of this tape develops around an ordinary at first glance American, whose car breaks down on the road. With no money, he agrees to work as a night janitor at the Willie Wonderland entertainment center to pay for a car repair. When night falls, the animatronic dolls come to life and decide to kill the stranger. Not even knowing that they did not lock him up with them, but them with him.
Despite the fact that this film is not an adaptation of the game of the same name officially, only the lazy will not notice the obvious analogies between Five Nights at Freddy’s and this film. “The ball is still ruled” by bloodthirsty animatronic dolls, and the main character has to survive, but not in a pizzeria, but in an entertainment center. However, with one small caveat – the main game is not at all the main character, but the animatronic dolls themselves. Which, in my opinion, refreshed the story and brought a certain degree of insanity into it, which perfectly feeds the selective black humor and intrigue about the inevitable culmination of the story. Thus, making it even more surprising why Bloom and Columbus have been dragging so long and why they did not think of such a thing themselves.
Realizing that it is simply impossible to submit all this madness seriously, the director of this film Kevin Lewis made the maximum bet on the madness of what is happening and this madness really works. Blood is pouring river, limbs come off, the insides turn inside out, and the film itself does not slow down the gloomy and full of suspense atmosphere. But all this and more is served exclusively under the sauce of selective black humor, which is perfectly played on the screen. Somewhere in the middle, the narrative sags strongly and the originality of the murders suffers a little, but all this does not spoil the impression of what was seen on the screen.
It was a part of the picture and with the main role. Nicolas Cage is not the first to play the roles of various madmen. However, Cage has not yet been bored in such a role and it is a pleasure to watch him due to this throughout the tape. Moreover, given how inconspicuous the other characters turned out and how scant the actors played, it is Cage who alone drags the entire film. Actually, as well as charismatic animatronic dolls, among which there was even a local variation of the Crocodile Gene.
7 out of 10
Wonderland of Willie is a rare example of a not perfect, but definitely worthy picture with Nicholas Cage, in which he again, but still vividly tries on the image of another madman. The authors of the film managed to shoot at least an interesting reimagining of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Willfully filling it all with an abundance of selective black humor, fountains of blood and all the other charms of the R age rating, which has somewhere to run.
Leaving Las Vegas in enchanting madness, Oscar-winning and once popular actor Nicholas Cage went straight to the hell of films category B. The disorderly lifestyle and exorbitant spending left the actor literally without a face.
An endless series of films that rightly deserved their 5 points (although on a 10-point scale) could break anyone, but it seems like long lonely nights full of nightmares, Mr. Cage no-no and remembers the old days when he paired with Sean Connery was literally the last hope of people on the rock.
Silent Clint Eastwood at the minimum, spurring his dark blue mustang (please excuse the camaro, alas and ah, still the budget makes its adjustments) rapidly flies into a completely ridiculous scenario trick, she also part-times working here with the local plot. What can we do? Accidental passers-by not accidentally found themselves next to the guilty look from the bushes, rattling with keys.
Nicolas Cage was not lazy to get in shape (still let’s not forget that the actor has long exchanged the fifth decade) and despite the lack of box office films looks very good. Of course, against the background of a local teenage leika gang who may have agreed to participate in the film for mentioning in the credits + lunch.
The main focus of the story is on action. Maniacally beating dolls, silent Cage, along with a distraught camera operator, are trying to portray serious soup from lean chicken soup. Even in his best years, Nicholas Cage did not shine as an action hero, and at the end of career A and the dawn of career B, everything that was good became bad, and what was bad became even worse. It may turn out that Cage was invited to clean the “rest room”, in the hope that he would do the same with his life, but again, from nowhere, the taken gorilla blew everything to dust, and then went on his last journey, resting his teeth against the toilet (Hi American History X, it is painfully similar).
Drenched in blood and taped GG together with the viewer barely makes his way through the plot. Mechanical eruptions at the speed of light destroy the strategic stock of GG T-shirts, and from time to time a dipping timer on the clock reminds you to drink, the manufacturer of which apparently generously unfastened money for the film.
Well, where without the main pretty heroine. Like a graceful deer, prancing through the ventilation (hello John McLaine, now the ventilation shafts make it more comfortable for crawling), will undoubtedly appeal to most men.
Unfortunately, even the cool American Scotch can't patch holes in the script. Carefully packaged in bags plush villains are deprived of both motive and brain.
Conclusions suggest themselves long before the finale of this bloody vinaigrette from a roadside diner. If you, like your humble servant, do not miss the films with Nicholas Cage, secretly wanting to catch the moment when he finally returns to the big stage (from my point of view, he is still able to return, if any of the directors give him a chance), you can get acquainted with this work, with the permission to say cinematic art, otherwise, passing by you are unlikely to lose anything.
Everything that Nicholas Cage does in his life is automatically doomed to attention, because he does not behave in the simplest way. Sometimes it even seems that he was originally drawn in a graphic novel, after which he somehow incomprehensibly transferred to our reality. How else to explain the fact that Cage can easily pay crazy money for the skull of a dinosaur, marry the granddaughter of Elvis Presley and name his son in honor of Superman! But this is not all the antics that the public remembers frantic Cage, a representative of the glorious cinematic family of Coppola. When Cage’s eccentricity faced quite serious financial problems, the actor himself was worried about this, but did not make a tragedy. Although his asset was already ' Oscar', and the list of cult films in his personal filmography exceeded several dozen, Cage saw nothing shameful in acting for money and thereby paying debts and his desires, which still did not go anywhere. And it seems that the more insane the roles offered to him, the more interesting Cage becomes, who seems to be looking for the edges of his dramatic strength. Perhaps that is why in the list of images of the actor you can find a master of jiu-jitsu, fighting with aliens, an unstoppable avenger, a big game hunter, a crusader and many, many other characters, distinguished by a riot of character and completely unpredictable actions. Another very ambiguous, but quite remarkable venture Cage was the appearance in the leading positions in the film ' Wonderland Willie' which is characterized by a very intriguing idea, but not the most ideal implementation. However, with the work of Cage since 2010, this happens quite often.
The plot of the film introduces us to a man (Cage), who travels around the country in his sports car, and it so happens that near a small town he suffers a small road accident. The car needs a little repair, but our hero has no money, and he has to work out help in the ways that are available. Thus, a harsh man goes straight to a local restaurant, where he needs to spend the night cleaning. It seems that there is nothing unusual in this, because it is quite possible to work off debt without unnecessary problems, but it turns out that as soon as the sun goes into the sunset and all the staff leaves the restaurant and park located around it, animatronic robots come into motion, acting as ordinary scenery in the light of day. Crazy from mechanical rage, toys destroy everything in their path and now their goal is a visiting guest who certainly did not expect to meet anything like this on his way. But despite all the surprise of the situation, the hero very famously copes with the attackers, demonstrating just incredible combat alignment. Now the animatronics themselves most likely regretted that they attacked the wrong enemy, but soon not the most intelligent teenagers sneak into the restaurant and its surroundings, and this allows the robot to at least a little recoup for their injuries. But while there is a stern guest from a sports car, even completely reckless guys who sometimes behave completely inadequately have chances of survival.
There is no doubt that director Kevin Lewis and screenwriter J. O. Parsons drew inspiration for their film in the popular video game "Five Nights at Freddy's & #39", which took place in a pizza restaurant, where animatronics also came to life at night, and the main character had to dodge them and run away. At one time, this game has really gained a cult status and despite the graphic simplicity, it seriously frightened and disturbed. Of course, Lewis and Parsons did not receive the rights to the film adaptation of “Five Nights at Freddy’s & #39”, but this did not prevent them from creating their own version of this horror, while coming up with a completely original story with their own unique characters. But if the adventures in the hellish pizzeria belonged to the category of horrors that really frightened, then ' Wonderland Willie' on the contrary, tries to resemble parody genre nightmares in the style ' Welcome to Zombieland' Special tension during the viewing is not felt, and only want to see as many scenes as possible, where the hero of Nicholas Cage brutally destroys his animatronic enemies, entertaining himself and the public. But here it should be noted that the number of really memorable scenes in the film is quite small. Probably, not the largest budget of the project is affected, as well as the light fear of the creators to turn their action into a form of thrash. However, such restrictions automatically cause some bewilderment, as the public just did expect from ' Wonderland Willie' absolute madness and, apparently, Nicholas Cage would not see anything wrong in this. On the contrary, he longed for it, but in part his hopes and aspirations were deceived.
Lack of funding 'Wonderlands Willy' influenced the fact that the amount of computer graphics here was minimized. There was simply not enough extra money for her, and instead of her, real animatronic dolls were used on the set, which to some extent even became the property of this film. The action scenes turned out to be more realistic and Cage's interaction with mechanical killers could not but cause laughter. Of course, here you can see its technical problems and places ' Wonderland Willy' looks too amateur and cheap, but in general it does not become a blow to the overall perception of the project. The film has its own special thrash style and if the authors decide to go further in their madnesses, then this story could well count on receiving cult status, as it was with 'Machete' and 'Bomge with a shotgun'. But again, the lack of courage and experience of the leading creators made itself felt, in connection with which we received a good, but far from outstanding film, continuing to replenish the personal collection of eccentric images of Nicholas Cage.
In the end, I want to say that ' Wonderland Willie' plays in the territory of the game ' Five Nights at Freddy's' but it is a unique work that goes along its artistic path. And maybe the authors did not succeed in creating some artistic precedent, their efforts are still worth taking into account and try to look at without any special obligations.

I would have missed this movie if it wasn't for its eye-catching title and Cage in the lead role. Before I saw it, I thought it was some kind of thrash movie. But as I watched it, I realized it wasn’t a perfect movie, but it was very, very good. Despite the fact that the film is similar to the popular game 'Five Nights with Freddie', the creator of the film claimed that he invented the film himself. But the film is not a straight tracing '5 nights' it is an independent and really cool film. Review of 'Wonderland Willy' comrades!
The silent man played by Cage, punctures a tire near the town and to fix it, agrees to work in a local restaurant with animatronic dolls. And willfully reveal the sinister secrets of the town. It's actually a very simple story. I wouldn’t say it’s a horror movie, it’s a scary comedy. I also wouldn’t say it’s a thrash movie, good shooting, and good acting actors. The disadvantage of the film is of course graphics, but given that the budget of the film is small, so you can forgive.
Characters: Nicholas Cage is beautiful. Given that in recent years he has played in not the best films, this role of a silent and nameless person, he performed perfectly. The rest of the actors play well, of course, but of course a few wooden people, but nevertheless very well complement the character of Cage.
Graphics and animatronics: As I mentioned, the graphics here are certainly not very good, but still for such a film it is very good. Animatronics are made interesting and very creative, there is no plagiarism with FNAF.
In summary: I don’t understand why this film has such a low rating, if in fact the film is beautiful. Watching Nicolas Cage silently wet to the cool music of these dolls is funny and exciting. The film turned out very good in characters, plot and animatronics. It’s nice that Cage has worked hard here to make his character as vivid and memorable as possible.
