Disintegration of the individual Mathieu Amalric’s postmodern experiment, in my opinion, was not 100% successful. Vicky Krips managed to pull all the disintegrated narrative of the main character Clarice, who at the beginning of the film leaves the family - handsome husband and two children. A puzzle film as an attempt to demonstrate the disintegration of the personality against the background of a great personal shock. Which one will become clear towards the end. Gathering all the scattered memories and separating reality from the fiction born in Clarice’s head is the task of the viewer. Moreover, Mathieu hints at this twice in the scenes of going through Polaroid shots - perhaps, this is the mental dialogue of the director with the viewer ends.
This is the second Vicky Crips movie (the first one is Tim Roth’s Bergman Island) that I’ve seen lately, and the second time I’m only saying good things about acting, leaving the director’s work out of the box.
