Somewhere beyond time and space, the planet Krull is attacked by a tyrant and a great conqueror of universal scale, the Beast with his countless army of ghost warriors. Broke in, right at the royal wedding, interrupting most of the guests kidnapped the most beautiful princess bride, in order to continue the line of his scumbag. And now the unhappy, grief-slain Prince Colvin has nothing left but, armed with the legendary weapon, to go to save his chosen one, the benefit of caring warriors and sorcerers, ready to make the company of our hero in this deadly adventure.
Frequent and popular genre of audience halls in the era of video salons, and you remember how well that magical, specific impression of the fantasy films of the 80s - "Conan-Barbarian", "Amazing Story", "The Lord of the Animals", "Willow", "Labyrinth", "Time Bandits", as well as many and many others. I remember well. All these films with dragons, brave ragweeds, villains-lords with their monumental foam black locks, which, at the end, flew in all directions with salute shrapnel, and the surrounding territories are pretty populated with all sorts of fantastic animatronic dolls. "Time Machine" continues to work as before - wakes up in me a young adventurer who sincerely then worried, touched and with great impatience fell to the screen, following the main characters in their difficult heroic path. In search of those sensations, I look for such films in my collection of films, to my surprise, the film Krull hit the bull’s eye. This is exactly what I need.
In the rich filmography of the English director Peter Yates, twice nominated for an Oscar, the film “Krull” takes a position closer to the end of his creative career, after he still managed to shoot a dozen different films – and real hits, and frankly failed tapes. The variety of films is amazing, over a long career, the director tried himself in different genres, it is difficult to say, because of versatility or because of creative search, he interested me and I noted several, in my opinion, appetizing films that I would like to see. The film is interesting, among other things, by the fact that Hollywood is old and new, in addition to the director, the cult artisan screenwriter Stanford Sherman worked on the film, who worked on the old 60s series Batman and Agents A.N.K.L. And as a viewer brought up, to a greater extent, on films of the late twentieth century, was fond of catching young actors in the second roles, several luminaries of the modern acting workshop were caught without much effort.
It is surprising that no one ever mentioned such a powerful film Krull, given that the film had an unforgivably huge budget and a good rental, and it was, in fact, a hit of its year, but it somehow passed our post-Soviet audience attention. To me, for example, the film came quite by accident, I am grateful that in the director of the instagram, it was once accidentally recommended by one Canadian DVD collector. And what a surprise I was when I found this film on our networks with a multi-voiced voiceover in addition to a bunch of "nasty" translations. So I went to the video rental or played on TV.
Guys, if you like movies in this style and you know what I mean, you just need to see Krull. My recommendations.
