If you knew... This movie was a legend to me. Hidden gates to Paradise or a cave with the treasures of 40 robbers, to which I could not find the password "Sim-sim, open!" As soon as I read an article about the film in 1997 that it was planned to become the main musical event of the year, I spent a couple of years to find a cassette for sale or at least see on TV. But the movie doesn’t seem to exist. A mystery of the scale of Atlantis. And the more time passed, the clearer it became why. The assumptions were confirmed.
The connection to the fairy tale is fading. It was ridiculous to hear the names of Tortilla or Buratino in the modern world. All the time it seemed that these were not real names, but nicknames for encryption. And the plot here was such that instead of them, Cipolino with the Countess Cherries and Alice with the Cheshire Cat could miraculously approach. Buratino’s role was completely irrelevant.
The songs, if they were worthwhile, were interrupted by behind-the-scenes talk about show business or spaghetti dialogue (very important!). But then, as if the filmmakers were tired of it, and the songs were left alone.
In the place of all the artists that were filmed here, I would do my best to make sure that this film never saw the light of day. I don’t like to get into the acting abilities of anyone, but in Tortilla’s prison room there were just terribly played up dialogues. Emotions are not in voices or movements. I especially liked the “feeling” with which Pope Carlo told Karabas Barabas “Don’t talk to her like that!”
Comparing with Hollywood is inappropriate, but because of the gangster fights, Romeo + Juliet with DiCaprio can not help but come to mind. There, too, the action was transferred to the modern world, but Shakespeare’s speeches somehow organically woven into the world of firearms.
And Malvina’s “wonderful” phrase “Where can you hang out here?” probably seemed so brilliant that it even sounded twice (in case someone listened to it for the first time). And then sing the glamorous song "Crystal Heart of Malvina"? This lovely heroine has been smeared. Maybe Natasha Koroleva quietly and dreamed of some shocking, but not so much that at the sight of a banana to say “I prefer the original”.
In the film it was very necessary to star Vladimir Presnyakov, Junior. So much so that he even came up with a completely unnecessary and completely ridiculous role of a biker.
But to say something good about this film, I will point out the rhythmic final song performed by the main negative characters: "In our show business ... & #34;". Funny dossier of one of the heroes: "The Right Hand of Karabas". Given that he is left-handed, the position is not very good.” And Sandor is the only one who spoke his lines naturally (and that’s not because we don’t talk bad about the dead).
And here the actors are brilliantly selected for the types of some characters. Especially I always liked the couple Basilio and Alice, as if specifically and intended for Sergei Mazaev and Natalia Vetlitskaya (just that year recorded a duet song). Natasha Koroleva had just sung a song about Malvina, and I wondered if she would sing it here, and what Malvina would turn out of it (the same vulgar neighbor from Old Songs about the Main 3 was made). And the most interesting role was that of Christina Orbakaite, who had not yet done plastic surgery.
Of course, all these characters and their performers can be liked before you see them directly. Kristina’s song “If You Knew...” may have blushed with shame, becoming the soundtrack of this garbage, but its name reflects the essence that it is impossible to guess which project will be a hit and which will not.
It's funny that the three-point finale. Nobody wants the first movie. There's still no follow-up.
