Road Movie with Chimpanzees Sometimes, after watching a movie that is based on real events, it is very difficult to imagine that this could happen to someone. The phrases “it doesn’t happen like that” and “why exactly?” haunted me throughout the film.
The story. A chimpanzee trainer who is experiencing a difficult period in his career goes in search of earnings from one state to another. On the road, he is joined by a fellow traveler who is clearly "not in himself." .
For me, the standard of such thrillers is “The Traveler” 1986 with Rutger Hauer and automatically I compare fiction with a real story. And the comparison is clearly not in favor of the “crooked road”.
The biggest drawback of “The Curve of the Road” is no backstory. Not for the protagonist or the anti-hero. There's no outcome. Because of this, all this road movie turns the viewer into an outside observer who follows the actions of the characters, not understanding the logic of the actions of either. As a result, the authors of the film do not disclose the story of the companion, and the actions of the main character also caused surprise. For example, why not call (or at least alert) the police whenever possible.
Bottom line: a very strange film with strange actions of all participants. No thriller or detective. Rather really road Movie based on an extraordinary event.
It raises more questions than you get answers.
