The town of Tulsa, if you Google, is much larger and more beautiful than shown in the series. This is a failure of the director and operator. In fact, nothing but the central square looks like a real city. It looks more like a village. And the whole spirit of the series corresponds to “one-story America”, not a town with skyscrapers and the corresponding scale of events. And gangsters are all small for New York. The series turned out very chamber and seemed to be low-budget. Well, yeah, it was fun.
You start looking at pictures for strange reasons. Not because I’ve heard praise, or want to learn a new story, or wonder how it will be displayed on the screen, but solely out of respect for the name. Actor, director, screenwriter, executive producer or even composer. Usually, such projects do not turn out anything good and marketing was originally built so as to hook you with only a sonorous name (usually one for the whole picture).
But it is different.
I was interested in The King of Tulsa solely by the presence of Sylvester Stallone. I can't say I'm his fan. I’ve watched most of his movies and I like a lot of them. In addition, I sincerely respect how he influenced (actually competing with Arnold Schwarzenegger) the development of one of my favorite genres of cinema - masculine action movie in the 80-90s.
So I decided that I could watch the first couple of hours, and then with a light heart to quit.
But, unexpectedly for myself, I enjoyed watching all 9 episodes!
Of course, the lion’s share of praise goes to Stallone himself, who looks great (in his 77 (!!) years), fits perfectly into the plot and plays superbly. In the series there are other famous and really good actors: Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, but against the background of Stallone they look much weaker.
The plot here is very good. Already after the start of viewing, I drew attention to the fact that the writers of the series are Taylor Sheridan, who gave us such projects as “Killer” 2015, “Wind River” 2016, “Yelowstone” 2018-... (and all the spinoffs), “Mayor of Kingstown” 2021-. So it was worth it to start watching the King of Tulsa for him, too. But back to the plot: the mafia, prison, the formation of an antihero, small twists, a complex confrontation and a small war. Reminds me of the '90s. Even the Russian fighters of the 90s. And in general, the whole series is saturated with references and jokes on the theme of the 90s. Sylvester, like his character, also make no secret that they are not from this time. They were there, and they were better off.
Action is worthy, for a series of this format, you should not expect much, but it looks nice.
Dramatic lines do not stand out very much, do not cause a desire to cry, but make you watch the development of the plot with interest. Which, as I wrote above, is not bad, although simple, as was customary during the feud between Iron Arnie and the Italian Stallion (an interesting fact: six months after the “King of Tulsa”, “Fubar” came out with Schwarzenegger, who, unfortunately, clearly does not reach the quality of his competitor).
Usually I write a review of the series in two cases: after the first season (Obi-Wan Kenobi 2022) – if I really liked it or after the release of the entire series (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017-2023), when I realized that the writers did not mess with the ending (Game of Thrones 2011-2019) and you can make an objective conclusion.
This is the first time – the season is very decent, you can enjoy it.
Don’t wait for 1999-2007’s The Sopranos and 1972’s The Godfather, but The King of Tulsa may surprise you and give you a little motivation, because if Stallone managed to do it at 77, then maybe I’m still good for something.

Plus a point for the scenicly cool and charismatic Stallone, from him in the frame just can not take your eyes off! Overall, it’s a very rough series. Started with comedy, in the process slid to drama and very sagging middle. The beginning and the end are really good.
A very useful drama crime series with Stallone in the lead role. Sly looks botexy, but he plays well. Cool and stylish 75-year-old bandit. Of the old action actors, only he and Mickey Rourke can play. The serialist in such an easy and dynamic manner, sometimes with a subtle banter over some stereotypes. I can’t say that it’s brilliant and deep, but this is the kind of commercial movie you expect. Very well balanced genre.
Capo comes out after a 25-year stint. The family does not take him very well and send him to the provincial Talsi to build a gang business there, probably in the hope that he will die out there. But the hero Sylvester immediately takes the bull by the horns, muddles with an ATF agent, starts a drug business, assembles a gang and naturally throws problems. As a result, he has to deal with his Italian-New York mafia, and with the ATF, and with the local gang of bikers thugs.
Everything turns out cheerful and sometimes fun. I recommend it for a movie holiday. Hopefully there will be a second season.
I've been thinking a lot about 8. But I decided to be greedy. So, an authoritative Italian brother goes to prison to avoid burning the head of the family. He's been there for 25 years. And then he comes out and doesn't mind being thanked for that sacrifice. But instead of gratitude, he is sent to the godforsaken Oklahoma, twisting bulls' tails and raising business. Young cones of the family conflict with him and hold a grudge. In general, the older brother, who is already 75 years old (settled down, it turns out, in half a table), takes up the business in all respects, taking on the hand of several local kolkhozans, who teach life lessons. And at the same time enters into an illegal sexual relationship with an agent of the BATF (Bureau for Alcohol, Tobacco and Weapons), which greatly complicated his life. Calm down, hussars! There is no agenda, the agent is a woman.
This is not to say that the idea is original. Approximately the same is played out in the cheerful-bloody Lillehammer and even in our Polar. In such cases, the quality of execution is much more valuable. So you can't stick to quality, all chick-pooh. And it is not surprising, because the creation involved none other than Taylor Sheridan. And everything Sheridan touches becomes, if not gold, then silver. The great “Yellowstone”, the cool “Wind River”, the epochal canvas “1883”, “Mayor of Kingstown”, which I have not seen yet, but which has a very good rating and reviews, an excellent “Sicario”. Even as an actor, he managed to appear in a couple of dozen films, including Sons of Anarchy! Plus, among the writers of “King of Tulsa” Regina Corrado, who worked on “Sons”, and even on the great “Deadwood”!
Does this seem to guarantee a luxury product? But, unfortunately, Taylor Sheridan in Talsa is involved only as the author of the idea and screenwriter of one of the nine episodes. And the rest of the creators, alas, did not give a brush. Not in the sense that it was nonsense, no! It was really good. But if he had run the whole project, Sheridan, who has a trump card in the conflict of old and new America, which he hoisted at Yellowstone to cosmic heights, I am sure it would have been a great movie. And it was a good thing. Because as the drama of the gulf between the past and the present, Yellowstone is an order of magnitude higher. And like the ridiculous construction of the mafia system among the kolkhoz suckers with a cool bandage, more fun is Lillehammer. Conversely, there’s too much drama in “The King” for crime comedy, and too much giggle for drama.
Stallone, of course, is very good. But his character raises very serious questions. It turned out that at the age of 50 he, an authoritative mafia named General, sat down for a murder committed out of compassion. Like everything? In all other respects, he is more than a decent man. Yes, the concept, in a sense, is also about justice. But it was a very positive image, I do not believe, as they say. Even Snaps Provolone from the luxurious Oscars was a more versatile and multi-level character.
In short, the series cannot be called impeccable. But it’s still pretty good and I’m looking forward to the second season.
And steer Sheridan!
Oh, how I was involved in this series from the very first episode, and for good reason I called the title of my review as ' one of Stallone's best projects' and indeed, after quite mediocre ' Samaritan' Stallone turned up a very good project, and besides a TV series called ' King of Tulsa' telling the story of a former El Capo nicknamed ' General' real name Dwight Manfredi, who served in prison in New York for a quarter of a century and finally released. With the fraternity relations after his release did not work and he was exiled to a small town in Oklahoma called Tulsa, to organize his criminal network, and Dwight was not confused and began ' from his place in a career'.
The series is really addictive with the first series, and all this thanks to the charisma of Stallone, who over the years only get better, despite his impressive age of 76 years (God give him health for another 76 years) and he is in great physical shape.
The first thing I noticed was the generational difference and how much the world has progressed in terms of high technology and convenience. Stallone's character plays this skillfully and shows that ' Old School' is still capable of a lot, but the best is the combination of ' Old and New School' and speaking about ' New School' or the younger generation, the series gradually introduces us to new characters, and one of the first is Tyson's character (played by Jay Will), who became close to Manfdredi from the beginning. In general, the series is replete with colorful characters, here you and the agent of the special services Stacey (Andrea Savage), and the owner of a small store named Bodhi (Martin Starr), I have already mentioned Tyson.
There are a lot of comedic moments and conversations about the meaning of life in the film, all of which come mainly from Stallone’s character, some of which are very much in line with our reality.
I also liked Dwyat’s character because, despite his age and his ‘39’ backwardness from a new generation, he still retains the masculinity and brutality that was very characteristic of the men of that generation. Dwyat is still the tough guy who can fight back, and not at all physical, but verbal because of his charisma.
The series also touches on the emotional and more serious aspect of the relationship between father and daughter. Throughout his life, Dwight did not pay attention to his daughter and serving time in prison further aggravated the relationship between them.
The contrasts and contrasts between cities, in this case Tulsa and New York, were still well shown, as were the people who live in such small towns.
'The King of Tulsa' is a very interesting TV series with the inimitable Sylvester Stallone about life, about family, about money, about the old and new generation, filled with aphorisms, brutality, coolness and charisma.
Watched season 1 as they would say in the series “from call to call”. At the exit there were mixed impressions, although there are more pluses (like).
Let’s start with the positive, and probably for a long time there is no need to walk here to understand that first of all it is itself.
A) Sylvester Stallone. The actor is iconic for the whole cinema, in this project will play the role of a mafia, and it is necessary to tell it to his face. All that pathos that comes from his character Dwight Manfredi, catches fear on the people around him, you believe it, and there is no doubt about it. Who would want to get a slap in the face (given that he laid Apollo himself)? Sometimes you catch yourself thinking that the characters who play next to him also all understand how majestic Sly figure and therefore without further questions agree to all his terms of cooperation (for themselves unprofitable) the creation of a gang (where there is danger). He's the boss here.
B) Separately, the 2nd item is more difficult to allocate, I think it will appeal to fans of crime dramas (which I am also). Namely, the participation in this project such actors as 1) Vincent Piazza (“Underground Empire”, “Soprano”) 2 Domenic Lombardozzi (“The Wire” “Underground Empire”) 3 Max Cazella (“Soprano”). All these actors are very well established in crime films, and everyone can be remembered for one or another episode. Therefore, you can also include and see how they coped with this project.
B) Beautiful views of Oklahoma. Yes, they attract their attention, with their deserted roads, horse ranch, provincial town on the outskirts and its identity.
It’s time to talk about the downsides of the film, first and foremost.
-A) Very simple story. It seems like a criminal drama, and it would seem that there is a demand for the plot, but it is as predictable as possible, there were no emotional turns throughout the season. You can stretch the ending here. From this follows the 2nd paragraph
-B) Crime drama, no drama. Speaking about this genre, we can recall its standards (if we are talking about series): Soprano, Underground Empire, Peaky Blinders. What you can compare this type of series I do not even know, there are no such examples. There is no good crime drama here, there is just crime, places with mediocre comedy.
-B Cinematography. To a greater extent, I am talking about action scenes (if you can call them that) and various fights. It looks very implausible (especially fights in the 1st half of the season).
To summarize the above, the series is worth watching. Without much hope, given that the series runs for 40 minutes, it is quite possible to do. Answering the question “What do I lose without watching this series?” – in fact, nothing but the image of the mafia performed by Stallone for 9 episodes.
I would like to end with a famous phrase, from another work.
“You weren’t shit, but you didn’t get to the top.”

Convicted New York mobster Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) nicknamed General after a quarter of a century is released. The boss sends him to the wilderness - to Tulsa, Oklahoma - to organize a criminal network there. The general takes the case seriously and begins to create a new criminal empire.
During his 50-year career, Stallone first appeared as a gangster. A year in 2014 with him planned a project where he was to play a mafia named Gregory Scarpa, even then it was very curious what will be Sly in such a role, but the project for some reason was not implemented.
And thanks to the platform Paramount+ Stallone still appeared in this image. For all his charisma, brutality - he very organically, successfully played the role of a gangster. Maybe not at the level of young Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, but nevertheless worthy. This is not the first time Stallone successfully proves that not only for militants, but that he is a talented actor in general, and in this case, that he is capable of criminal dramas about mafia bosses.
That this series will be included in the category of projects I liked from the filmography of Stallone, there was almost no doubt. Since the creators of the series Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter have an impressive track record, from such suitable and high-ranking projects as: Killer, Wind River, Yellowstone, Wolf of Wall Street, Vinyl, Underground Empire, etc. These talented creators did not hit their faces in the dirt, and their filmography was also replenished with another suitable project.
Moving the harsh and tough mafia in the modern world of hipsters, smokers and pink smoothies with iPhones is a curious idea. Against this background, old Sly is doubly enjoyable to watch, with its brutal, charismatic old leaven. Dresses with a needle in good costumes, in case of injustice without unnecessary words and thoughts, hits the jaw. Nice old school lamp.
Stallone in his 76 years in great shape, God give him health, many years, and many more interesting projects.
The series has been renewed for season 2. Of course, the ending is a little open. I look forward to continuing. I hope the quality will not be inferior to the first season. But I also really hope that the creators will not step on the rake of many series, and will be able to when it is necessary to stop in time without turning such a great project into a cash cow for the sake of ratings.
To the disadvantages in my opinion, except that I can attribute a little slow in the beginning. But then everything rocked perfectly. But Sly's charisma makes up for everything. Therefore, the high score
Not a bad first season if you don’t expect much.
To connoisseurs of Soprano, Gomorrah, the Underground Empire, etc., I will immediately say this is not the case. Not really.
Stallone is generally good, but overplays at times and looks more like a battered bull than a mobster. The rest of the characters are generally colorful, but empty in fact with the exception of the MB driver and his father, girlfriends of GG and Bothi with Grace (the greatest impression). All the rest of the palette for palette.
Mafia cardboard, in detail it looked so funny. When GG gave the ring to his African-American driver on the third day of dating, I knew immediately that it was a film about drugs, possibly even heavy ones. And this is far from one such moment. The New York branch of the mafia is generally some kind of circus - a club of majors, which you can at least every day go bream hand out.
Motives are soap bubbles, the actions of the heroes are illogical (they sometimes talk about it themselves), opponents of all sorts are impenetrable dummies and posers.
The world is plastic and very malleable GG, business owners do not call cops, but open safes, thugs do not throw themselves in response to a 75-year-old man, and women on the contrary jump, opponents only speak beautifully and call on the phone like boys (by the way, why a landline phone in New York? For suspense? I am silent about how my grandfather famously and in a short time mastered all the technologies, I may be envious simply.
Unfortunately, the cool idea of an old cappo in the new world was ruined. The series turned out to be raw, or rather, unthought-out.
Interesting moments are also enough, but they are all related to comedy, and then, if you do not think about it.
For example, the whole situation with Bothi looks very stupid at the end, but the store itself and especially Grace is just fire.
': Girl, do you have a special invitation? Oh, I'm too high for all this. All right, put the phone down and just sit on the chair.'
I don’t think they’ve decided they’re making a comedy or a gangster thriller. Or maybe even farewell Stallone (there was a feeling that on face time he said goodbye not to his brother, but to himself).

It all starts quite cheerfully, sitting a quarter of the life of the Mafiosi, goes free, not only that he needs to be again in demand on a professional path, so still need to learn to live in a new world, adapt to new realities, somewhere to stuff his habits and somewhere on the contrary to show will and perseverance.
Praised by everyone and everything, this series still has some shortcomings that clearly make themselves felt in the last series of the season, namely what next?, as for me all the chips and all the charm of the game Stallone, we saw in the first series, there was a suspicion that the Mafiosi will become sentimental and soft, falling under the influence of the modern world.
Before us is still brutal and tough, dangerous Man, who is able to put on the counter of any merchant in the district, of course, I can run ahead and this will not happen, everything will have a balance and not slide into snotty and vanilla action, although in my opinion, in the format of a full-fledged film, this project would look better, dynamic and funny, in moderation sentimental, everything would fit perfectly, and so for the sake of ratings stretched like gum, turning this promising project into a farce.
Of course, this is my personal fears, this series should be watched at least for the sake of the brilliant game of Rambo, namely Sylvester Stallone, indeed, the image of the cool Mafiosi Stallone was successful at all, Everyone is already used to the classic images of gangsters from Sunny Italy performed by Al Pacino or De Niro, not knowing which diamond lies right under his feet, as they say better late than never.
Of course, if you think about it, it is at this age that Sly pulls on the hard Bandit, I can not imagine thirty-year-old Stallone in this role, the fruit has ripened ... these twitches of the jacket, playing with his fingers, only a cigar is missing, it would be quite ideal, the rest of course behind the powerful shadow of Sly, are not yet visible, this is his finest hour we will not interfere with him ...
Of course, the project is worthy, even with possible fears described above, but I am not a telepath, maybe the authors will stop in time, and everything will end beautifully and on time, the potential is there, the main thing that would be in the pursuit of ratings and profits, all this is not ruined, there are hundreds of examples, judging by the first season, it turned out very cool, not perfect but almost, so I will remove doubts for now and continue to see what I wish you.

Leafing the depths of the world wide web in search of something interesting, came across this series. The first impression that I would see a young Sylvester in a modern picture was turbulent and negative. I wanted to throw the picture in a distant box and never get it out, but something in me gave a counterbalance to my actions and give Slya & #39; to tell my story.
I'll start with Charles ' Chickens' (Domenica Lombardozzi) - the son of the father of the criminal family Pete (Alan S. Peterson). His father did not like him since childhood and did not take him seriously, which led to complexes that spill out into the world in the form of cruelty and aggression. Charlie is aiming for the chair of his father, but for obvious reasons of conscience - unsuccessfully, from which he falls into depression and becomes on his own mind. Not the best of traits.
Colan Voltrip (Ritchie Koster) is a frowny biker who doesn’t seem to cause a sense of apprehension at first. No way. In this man hides all the bloodthirsty primitive rudiments of the maniac, at the sight of blood consciousness will not lose. But this is not Mr. Waltrip’s most important weapon, but his intellect and logical thinking, which have helped in a given situation.
Stacey Biel (Andrea Savage) is an intelligence agent and part-time just a chic woman. It’s just nice to look at it, and the situations in which this person falls are a separate column on the alleys of fame. Nastenka is intelligent, well-read, has a sense of humor, but at the same time she is worried about the wrongdoings of the past and sometimes the present and often listens not to her head, but to her other organs.
Have you ever seen a hippie with a Jewish name running a marijuana store? Here's Bodhi (Martin Starr) sitting around counting his revenue and putting it in a safe behind the painting. But it was all up to a certain time, and his life had changed radically, so I had to show my teeth. In a fight, the truth from hippies is of little use, but there is another skill - to work with all the networks of our global Internet.
Here's the cherry on the cake - Dwight & #39; General' Manfredi (Sylvester Stalone). Pete's right hand and friend, even after returning from prison, which did not slow him down for a moment, but pushed him to carry out his affairs and undertakings. Internal experiences about the breakup with her daughter heat up the situation and temper the image of this hero.
In general, the plot seems painfully stereotyped, it seems like watching another mediocre movie. The main thing is to overcome the first fifteen minutes of the first series and all fears will dissipate and you can enjoy the conquest of Tulsa. The opposites of different cities in one country are clearly pointed out and allude to normal men and women, with no tolerant problems like the rest of the world. The picture is stuffed with aphorisms, explanations and the meaning of life, but it is so beautifully squandered on the series and without blunders that you do not even notice it. Men a little over thirty will like the plot, accompanied by a beautiful musical design. Have a good time.
"Soprano" on "minimal schools ... although no, it seemed ... it's a kindergarten"
Dwight "General" Manfredi, played by Sylvester Stallone, the capo of the New York City mafia. He served twenty-five years in prison. He's over seventy now, but he's in great shape. The general is sent to Tulsa, Oklohoma, in order to get rid of the old-fashioned old-fashioned man. Although Dwight is insulted, he is sent to exile, where he is taken seriously for the case.
The first series makes it clear that this will be a great story about the interaction of different generations on the topic of crime. Different views, methods, tastes, entertainment and so on. It was very funny.
But the creators gave me hope. The main character is somehow very easily drawn into a new world for him. The driver takes a black twenty-five-year-old boy, who later becomes his friend. He's doing serious business with the butterflies. It is easy to forgive someone who tried to kill him. All this, first of all, is very modern tolerant, which is strange when the film is about the Italian mafia. Secondly, the relationship between all of them is very simple. Everything is very easy.
My hope for a little more seriousness, after such manipulations between the characters, disappeared. The naivety of the story came to the fore. Well, that's not that bad either. Especially when Sly and his impressive appearance are on the screen. And the character itself is really attractive. So why not, creators? - I don't mind a light, light crime comedy.
But the closer to the final, the more obvious it became that everything was very childishly stupid. Comparing the first and last series of the season, it becomes awkward.

Stallone is an iconic figure in the history of world cinema. How it became like that is a topic of separate conversation. It is much more important to understand how a person manages to keep attention on himself for so many years.
So is this series. Stallone’s charisma overshadows everything in this story.
The script, as I know, was written under Stallone. As you can see, the main character is Stallone's hero. His father was born in Sicily, he himself in New York. He wears a ring on his little finger, returns 75 years (at the time of filming), loves horses.
Which I liked more about the series. Stallone here plays the out-of-jail mobster. And with his charisma, he plays that role. He is a man of old views, wise with experience. This allows him to be a mentor to young people. Show what is important and what needs to be done to achieve your goal.
Add humor and showdowns (a film about crime), in the end we get a fascinating action led by Stallone.
It’s important to say, although not everyone recognizes today, but Stallone is a good dramatic actor. He showed it long ago and proved it, but many viewers did not accept him as another, not cool guy. At the beginning of his career (after the first Rocky), he starred in several dramas and in one musical film.
Picture of police, daylight, racer. Let me add his films from the early 2000s.
He also showed his dramatic talent in this series. And added humor.
As Andrei Konchalovsky said about Stallone: all his films are his films.
Here he is the main character who can keep the attention and interest of the viewer. This is what he did throughout his 52-year career.
Mobster Dwight Manfredi, 75, is out after 25 years in prison. He is a capo, an old friend of the don, but he is not very welcome in his mafia family. So the old man is sent to Tulsa, as it were, to master new frontiers, but in fact - as long as he does not get confused under his feet. But our strongman will not be lost anywhere, so in the Oklahoma wilderness, he begins to slowly build his small but promising criminal empire. Well, at the same time, she starts an affair with an employee of one of the special services and tries to restore the lost relationship with her daughter.
Strangely enough, Stallone never played gangsters. And here is the first experience in this direction and not to say unsuccessful. Sylvester itself is almost the only virtue of this show. He’s 76 years old, but he looks great for his age, I’d say he’s amazing. And it is quite possible to believe that he is able to interest a woman fit for him in a daughter. He plays a capable and at the same time elegant man who easily solves any problems. And it's quite pleasant to look at him. Well, another small plus of the series in jokes about a person who has lagged behind life during his time in prison, but this potential is exhausted very quickly.
Unfortunately, the screenwriters are clearly overworking with the bright image of the hero. He is here and a noble and wise and sensitive man. I would know how such a man managed to become a notorious bandit! Maybe Sylvester just didn’t want to play a scumbag, which would be a believable character?
In “The Sopranos”, from which some moments clearly licked, we were shown characters who were not without some charm, but clearly showed how cruel, immoral and very dangerous people they were. It was the truth of life that I believed in. This is something that is completely lacking in the peer-reviewed series.
Well, Dwight's criminal activities are highly questionable. It hurts so easy! Of course, he constantly quotes Sun Tzu, but we do not see any wise moves in his performance. Apparently, the authors dullly lacked imagination.
In short, you can watch this series, but only for the sake of a beautifully aging Stallone. A powerful crime drama here does not even smell, do not hope!

Old school lamp in the world of pink smoothies and white iPhones
The celebration of the right movie continues, and after season 4 'Yellowstone' non-trivial Taylor Sheridan again on the mountain gave something fresh and invigorating about the right old school with a lot of testosterone and healthy conservatism. It is a luxurious idea to move a brutal hard mafia from the past to the modern world of unafraid hipsters, lovers of pink smoothies with white iPhones. We have a kind of 'Destroyer' only in a different package. The conflict of cultures, habits, philosophies and lifestyles of an established strong man with obvious leadership qualities and rich life experience and modern plush boys and men turns watching the series into an endless holiday. Here, even the plot is not so important, all this old world lamp color is important, which is carried by the main character, where the man was a man, and the woman was a woman, the costume was the main everyday men's clothing, and for rudeness they beat in the jaw without talking. To some extent, a similar role was played by Ivan Bortnik in 'Antikillers' where he walked around in our time in a suit of the 40s, a cap and boots, smoked Belomor and ' put Fraiers on the knife'. It was difficult to imagine someone more colorful for the main role. Here Sheridan got 100%, because from the endless reincarnations of De Niro and Pacino in the role of the Italian mafia is sick. Stallone revealed himself as a wonderful dramatic actor once again - few people take him seriously outside the role of the hero of the militants, but his acting potential is visible to the naked eye. Quantity and years have turned into quality, and we see a very colorful man who always has something to say, does not go under the modern world of tolerance and postmodernism, rolling into the abyss of hell. It is always interesting to observe this, because over the years, you understand the value of traditions and conservative ways more and more. The film itself was shot slowly, there are no big crowds, special effects and budget. But they're not needed here. For Stallone, quoting philosophers and showing good form and healthy mature male charisma at 76, is enough for her eyes. It's expensive.
I love Sly. Except the Expendables. And it's really cool that he went to the series. . The series is well shot, the director has extensive experience in top TV series. But... It's Sly, the script. He's better off in dramatic themes, and then a simplification with a stupid one. Disappointed.
The King of Tulsa tells the story of a mafia man who, after 25 years in prison, begins to build a new business. The main screenwriter is Taylor Sheridan, and he is known for the excellent quality of all his works: The Killer, Windy River, Yellowstone and others. That is why you expect a high level.
The pilot episode confirms that. The main role here is played by Sylvester Stallone. And how good he is at 76. Finally, he came up with a decent project where he can open up as much as possible and show that he can still play a decent acting. In his 50 years of career, he never played the role of mafia boss. After leaving prison, he is sent to the wilderness - to register a criminal network there. There, according to the classics of the genre, recruits a couple of cheerful losers into a gang. Stallone shows us a cold-blooded gentleman who knows what he wants and will stop at nothing. He can put down his rivals, who are three times younger than him, with one stroke. Faust, Shakespeare may have been his bedtime reading in prison, but he has obviously not kept up with technological and social advances - among the things that puzzle him, phone apps and legalized marijuana. The scenes of him getting to know these things look pretty funny. Stallone appears to be a real master of comedy, action and serious drama.
The pilot episode sets a good start for a big crime drama. The plot may not bring anything new yet, but Stallone’s charisma makes him forget it. I started watching without much expectation, but judging from the first series, it can be a really funny sight.
