Secrets of the English Village If you like classic English detectives, as well as mystical stories - this series is definitely worth watching.
A vicar with her daughter comes to a small English village to start a new life.
The difference of this village from others is that 500 years ago 2 slandered girls were burned in it, 30 years ago 2 girls went missing, and the locals arrange creepy holidays and store strange amulets at home. It would seem that all these events are interconnected, and the newly arrived vicar takes to unravel the tangle of secrets.
It is worth noting the main character - she has to herself from the first minutes. Perhaps this is how I imagine a true minister of the church - without extremes, a modest, kind man with an iron will.
The series requires careful viewing - it is not full of useless dialogue, inappropriate and drawn-out scenes. So if you miss a moment, you can get confused.
I note the excellent work of the cast and directors - they managed to naturally convey the eerie atmosphere among the beautiful English nature. You believe the characters 100%. The series has some strange aesthetic of naturalism: I love movies where the inhabitants of the outback do not look or dress like Hollywood stars, even if they are Hollywood stars.
I warn you, in the first 2 episodes, viewing can be dropped. Viewers who love more action, to overcome a leisurely plot will be difficult. But by the middle of the series, the plot will begin to develop rapidly, in the end - it will keep in such tension that it is absolutely impossible to break away.
Praiseworthy - no storyline led to "nowhere." Moreover, until the very last moment of the series, new and new unexpected details emerge. Personally, I did not guess about any of the solutions myself - and not at all from the fact that the solution was delusional, on the contrary.
The mysticism in the series sets the tone and is frightening, but does not really play a major role. As always, all evil is in human hearts. But the series does not leave a sense of hopelessness - there are both cruel villains and good people with whose hands justice is administered.
I definitely recommend it to all fans of the genre.
