After just one sentence, my dear dinosaur lovers, it's getting a little uncomfortable. Yes, yes, tears turn up in front of your eyes, and a lump appears in your throat, which is simply impossible to swallow. The most heartbreaking cartoon of the 80s!
It's heartbreaking. There are some funny moments here (Littlefoot's tercs and Sira's, for example), but you'll be roaring a lot more than laughing a-hee-hee. We remove the initial and final titles – we get a timekeeping of 60 minutes. Seems like nothing. I swear to you, these 60 minutes will turn your soul inside out.
Producer Spielberg and his bearded friend Lucas are evil cheaters! Why? Because they hold you in two emotional traps. The first is the storyline of Littlefoot's mother. In the first few minutes, I don't know. That twenty-five years ago (in the 90s on a cassette) that in 2023 – I can’t watch it quietly.
I have a version, the creators decided to interrupt (in dramatic terms) the storyline of Bambi’s mother from the Disney classic of the same name. In short, stock up on handkerchiefs and sedatives if you decide to watch, although they are unlikely to help you.
The second emotional trap is awareness itself, guys. After all, the main characters of the cartoon are small dinosaurs (from pterodactyl to triceratops), who go on a dangerous journey, and you just sit and think that all dinosaurs are long gone. Sad. This amazing music from James Horner (Titanic) is heartbreaking. No words, delight!
A beautiful cartoon with a wonderful message. Director Don Bluth (Anastasia) did a good job. It's a collection. Much better than many modern cartoons. One hundred percent classic.
Most importantly, how great it is when you have a mother.

Children's impressions are the strongest! And Don Bluth's cartoons are one of those experiences. The most amazing thing that I only found out later was that it was my favorite film All Dogs Go to Heaven, Anastasia and, of course, Earth Before Time. For some reason, many children at the time (when the film was shown in Russia, not when it was released) were in love with dinosaurs. And I'm no exception. Was it Steven Spielberg with his Jurassic Park? Or just a coincidence? I don't know. But the cartoon about dinosaurs could not remain without my attention.
The cartoon begins rather gloomy and immediately beats the young viewer into the heart, showing that the creators are not going to flirt with you. And then the tone gets a little lighter, and we see a wonderful story about friendship, about diversity, about equality. Don Bluth can do that. All his cartoons are both simple and profound. Morality in his stories is not put in your head, it comes from history itself.
And, of course, the main characters. Five little dinosaurs. Each has its own character, its own history, its own characteristics. And you'll love them all. A special one, of course, is Littlefoot, which has a whole drama and its own path. He is the main character of this story.
Here is a good animation, albeit inferior to the best samples of the time, but quite decent, good script, memorable characters and, and, and, and.. Yeah, I like everything here! I don't remember, I don't know, I don't see. It's Don Bluth's masterpiece and one of my favorite cartoons! And you already know what I gave him. .
Dinosaurs... Legendary creatures that once lived on Earth are one of the most sought-after themes of world cinema and animation. Most of the filmed, of course, refers to the genre of fiction associated with the combination of humans and dinosaurs in one plot (such as the next adaptation of Conan-Doyle’s The Lost World). But there were also works of art that tried to focus exclusively on dinosaur life, before their ultimate extinction and the emergence of the first human life.
In the late 1980s, the famous American director and producer Steven Spielberg decided to work again with Don Bluth - a promising animator director, whose animated film "American Tail" successfully passed through theaters. And this time, the choice fell on the touching story of the friendship of several little dinosaurs. Looking ahead, I want to note that the theme of dinosaurs was so promising that Spielberg did not want to dwell only on this project, embodying a few years later his famous “Jurassic Park”, where he skillfully combined computer graphics with live actors in one frame. But then, in the distant year 1988, as a result of the cooperation of Bluth, Spielberg and George Lucas (yes, the very creator of Star Wars, whose studio Lucasfilm released the project Bluth into the light), the animated film "Earth before the beginning of time" >
This is the story of a young dinosaur named Littlefoot (in other translations of Little Feet) who tries to learn about the world through testing and communication with other dinosaurs. Here it should be noted immediately that the creators endowed them with live human speech, which greatly simplifies the task for the viewer. The exception was Tyrannosaurus Ostrodent - the main antagonist, a predatory dinosaur, threatening the happiness of herbivorous and harmless dinosaurs with its animal instincts. It is thanks to his forays that such sad changes occur in the fate of Littlefoot. However, no matter how this cartoon did not resemble its plot Disney "Bamby", Don Bluth made it all the same independent and independent (even partially sad). Another thing is that when viewing Disney's "The Lion King" (which was released in 1994), some elements of "Earth ..." are guessed, which only makes Bluth's project only more interesting from the point of view of the original presentation.
Someone will say that this is part of his childhood, someone will admit that the existence of dinosaurs in principle learned from this cartoon. It is important to understand that for its time it was, in principle, a big event in the world of animation - a full-length cartoon about the life of creatures long gone into the past. And for the sake of an interesting plot, the creators even scored on paleontology (the science of dinosaurs), introducing dinosaurs of different eras into the cartoon that could not exist together. Does that make the movie worse? Probably not. Looking for historical blunders is not the first thing I would like to do when watching. But he teaches friendship, understanding the value of life and his own destiny. And this is sometimes so lacking in modern cartoons.

Dinosaurs were one of my childhood passions. Yes, in fact, and now fascinated by paleontology - a mysterious and time-consuming science.
I watched this movie when I was seven years old, and naturally I was very excited. Such a long cartoon, so beautiful, so exciting! And the dinosaurs, too! Holding his breath, he watched the relocation of Littlefoot’s herd, the catastrophe that separated him from his family, the making of new friends, their adventures and discoveries.
The film was also directed by Don Bluth, one of my childhood favorite directors. (What’s more, I didn’t know the director’s name at the time.) And Bluth cartoons are very different from Disney... (At that time, only Disney was well known of the studios making full-length cartoons) Song and dance in ' Earth...' none at all. There are a few cute scenes, but they take a very short time. Otherwise, the cartoon is quite pityful, tense and sometimes even scary. Even deaths are shown - Disney kills mainly villains, and then, mostly, as if pretend.
As I found out many years later, several scenes from 'Earth...' were even cut out because they were considered too dark or frightening.
But all this did not repel me - on the contrary, such a harshness made the cartoon much more realistic and fascinating. And what a relief at the end when the little heroes finally find the Great Valley! It is true that the sediment was still sad, but we know what happened to all the dinosaurs later. And that even the Great Valley will not ultimately save them ' People' ' But still write in the books that they died out not instantly, but in millions of years. Maybe Littlefoot and his friends were able to live happily,' - I was encouraging myself.
Decades later, the cartoon is not outdated for me: it still looks like the first time (however, it was not viewed to the holes - as a child I saw it twice). Very beautiful and emotional work. 10 points.
For 'Earth before time' followed by a whole franchise, a number of sequels - that's just Don Bluth was not involved in this, and the sequels turned out many orders of magnitude more infantile and weaker.
By the way, in the cartoon you can see a lot of outdated and incorrect paleontological facts. Dinosaurs did not live in water. Events take place at the end of the Cretaceous period - however, looking closely, you can see creatures from very different periods (even Pelicosaurus from the Paleozoic!). However, this is not a scientific work, but a fairy tale - so forgivable.
These are difficult times. Volcanoes began to erupt massively, endangering the lives of creatures that lived long before the appearance of man. Dinosaurs decide to leave their homeland and go in search of the Great Valley & #39. There is a lot of food and a quiet life.
Heroes of the cartoon, the charming dinosaur Little Food and his friends, fought off their counterparts. They have to find their way through unfamiliar lands alone. Little Food does not just survive the events that happened to him, but you can not stop, you need to move on.
A story I think has been forgotten. And by the way 'Earth before time' appeared earlier 'The Lion King'. There are no more sad stories from childhood than these two. The plot of the cartoon will tell children that friendship does not depend: on habits, appearance, character. You can always find a common language if you are not stubborn about everything. Stubbornness can be useful in life, but do not show it in friendly communication. If there is a problem, you need to help each other, together it is always easier. You will not be lonely when you have someone to share both sorrow and joy with.
The picture is useful in order to see it together with parents with children. Let adults think that we are an example to our children. Children look at us and adopt all our habits, behavior and communication. Future generations learn not only when we want to, but always and everywhere by looking at us. Learn to empathize and appreciate loved ones, as well as be more attentive to each other.
Given the year of the creation of the picture, do not expect much from the graphics. The story is important here and how you personally set up your child. I think that classic animation should be shown to modern children. The cartoon is kind, instructive and touching, not almost worse than those who are shooting now.

Continuing to review old cartoons, I finally got to Don Blois' cartoons. This time I'm lucky to see a good old cartoon about cute dinosaurs. The characters themselves are well-preserved and it was nice to see everyone again. What do we have?
Excellent animation. . .
The multiplication process is quite long and complex, and this process can take several years. But if a person puts his soul into the business, then he will always get the desired result. Nature is beautifully portrayed, but unfortunately there won’t be much of it throughout the film. Basically, rocky mountains and stones will be depicted, I would like to see more foliage, because it turns out a rather sad atmosphere at the cartoon. But in spite of this, we can enjoy well-drawn characters. Big dinosaurs look very realistic, while their children look pretty cute. Don Bluth has retained the good old ' Disney' character style, which is very reminiscent of the animals from Bambi.
A simple but interesting story...
This is a story, so you can create whatever you want (or have boundaries). The adventure of completely different dinosaurs in the harsh world of adults. . At least that's what I'd call it. Heroes have their own character and behavior. Yes, it may not have happened in nature that little dinosaurs, collectively interacting, went on a journey. But again, this is a cartoon, which means you can make friends with anyone. The plot itself is more like a big living picture you’re looking at somewhere in a museum than deep reasoning or some protracted problem. Yes, the cartoon has ' conflicts' but this is rather just one of the stages that you need to go through.
Result
It turned out short (the hour of the cartoon is not very fast, but not so much that you could die of boredom). I really liked the idea of creating a world of dinosaurs that lived many, many years ago. The cartoon does not try to impose anything, it only pleases the plot itself and pleasant animation. Anyway, it was good! I don’t want to watch the continuation, because the cartoon itself ends... nice, which means the plot can not be stretched. It's not like ' All dogs go to heaven' Here in the plot put a small but greasy dot with a pencil, which can be erased if you want. But, as I said, I won’t watch it washed (maybe there will be a big chance, but if the mood is there).
This amazing cartoon I watched in the first 14 years, so it happened. And ever since, this is one of my favorite cartoons. We still watch it on a DVD purchased in the early 2000s, even with the translation where the main character of the cartoon is called Littlefoot, and not Baby Feet, as it was later voiced. I don’t like the second translation at all. For me, he was and will always be Littlefoot.
The story is very interesting. Our planet existed a long time ago, long before the first man appeared on it. And it was inhabited by huge and completely incomprehensible creatures - dinosaurs. They were very different sizes, some of them could swim, some of them could fly. Among them were herbivores and predators. Like all other animals, dinosaurs were also divided into different species, classes, subspecies ... And they all lived in a huge and beautiful world called planet Earth. Of this species, only one family remains. Meanwhile, the dinosaurs were going to go on a long journey to the Great Valley, where there would be enough food for everyone.
A very kind, bright, colorful cartoon, shot in an era when there was no animation and the notorious 3D. But from this cartoon not only does not lose, but even wins, it is not for nothing that he is so loved by the audience. Although it was shot not at Disney Studios, but jointly by the studios of the USA and Ireland, but so authentically that you simply transport yourself to the distant world of dinosaurs and live with them all their joys and tribulations, all their adventures. This cartoon teaches children friendship, empathy and help each other in difficult situations. And most importantly, on the example of animals, he teaches you to truly be friends and love, teaches you to be persistent, and not to give up even in the most difficult situations and never to despair. Especially if you're with friends, real friends. Together they will overcome everything.
This is a great movie that kids will enjoy today. In my opinion, this cartoon should be shown to the child one of the first in his life (and not the moronic Pig Peppa and stupid Masha and the bear), along with "Bee Maya", "The Lion King", "Bamby", "Smishariki". When watching these cartoons, children will learn kindness, compassion, responsibility for themselves and their friends, and most importantly learn to appreciate real friendship! The best movie of all, although shot 30 years ago. I highly recommend watching.
A beautiful cartoon of 1988, fascinating with its kindness, sincerity and love. A story that can overshadow many modern animated films.
A group of small dinosaurs, separated from their relatives due to a terrible earthquake, go to a mysterious valley where water flows in a stream, and there are so many trees and all kinds of greenery that you will not eat in a lifetime. On their way, they will have to fight a huge Tyrannosaurus, feel mad hunger, face the problem of interspecies relationships (each of the characters represents a separate species of prehistoric animals). Very soon, for their perseverance, they are rewarded with a long-awaited reunion with their relatives in a wonderful fertile valley.
The motley composition of the group of brave young dinosaurs includes: hard-headed "triceratops of Sir", optimistic "Ducky (parasaurolof), insecure in his abilities Pitri, good-natured Stegosaurus Spike and the young leader Apatosaurus Littlefoot, who went from the severe loss of a heroic mother to the formation of the young team's messia.
It is worth noting the brilliant duo of producers Lucas-Spielberg, who created in cooperation a magnificent trilogy about the unforgettable Indiana Jones, who brought to life a touching story about very young, but not by years brave representatives of the fauna that inhabited our planet many millennia ago. Much importance of the success of this cartoon is the animation itself, forcing you to plunge into this magnificent prehistoric world.
"Earth Before Time" falls in love with viewers of different ages, making it ideal for family viewing. For the youngest, this cartoon can serve as a huge example of true friendship, self-belief and understanding the importance of team interactions.
Go to the forest with your Bambi and the Lion King!
You know, it happens that over time, our writing or reviewing skills improve, we learn to express our thoughts and ideas better, and our views can change. That’s why, for sure, many of your old reviews want to change, making a kind of remake, because before printed simple reviews without semantic load, just “to be”. Believe me, I want to do something like remakes, adding and slightly changing something in the reviews.
But I got distracted. Now we're going to talk about one of the animated works by the great animator Don Blat, Earth Before Time, which many people, like me, watched in their childhood. Blat also shot the magnificent “Secret NIMH”, and a kind of “All Dogs Go to Heaven” with a simply awesome scene of a hellish nightmare (and from there the animation segment was cut out, as a huge monster lowers his face into lava and roars “Now you are mine!”). A little later he shot “Rock ku-ka-re-ku”, which could boast only an excellent visual, and then “Anastasia”, many remembered a great touching cartoon (however, for me too). And I grew up on almost all of his cartoons.
“Earth Before Time” has a truly beautiful animation, the dinosaur characters are pleasant (and in their characters you can quite recognize yourself), and their feelings are clean and sincere, good music, well-kept atmosphere and visual (dark, muted pastel tones), many scenes still get goosebumps. The cartoon has a very simple story, but the authors masterfully managed to convey the age of dinosaurs, the environment, danger and ruthlessness of life. The whole cartoon gives both hopelessness, but also something sweet and innocent. And, perhaps, this cartoon can be called the most intense and dramatic due to the topic of the death of a loved one. This film is much bolder and yet more serious. And compared to the overrated "The Lion King," whose original script (" King of the Jungle) was really a chic and sensual tragedy, or the frankly utopian and boring "Bamby," "Earth Before Time" is a dynamic, atmospheric and powerful picture. I loved watching it from early childhood, it did not scare me at all, I was interested. And I never cried over the deaths of any of the heroes.
There are, indeed, a few nuances. First, tragically dead baby Judith Barsi, who gave her voice to one of the characters of the cartoon. Secondly, from the cartoon cut as much as 11 minutes of filmed material, where the main characters were chased again and again by a ferocious hungry Tyrannosaurus, which appears as a kind of demonic image of imminent death, which always hangs over the characters and constantly creeps too close. And it is a pity that you can not find a full directorial version with all these scenes, because the moments, for example, with the fight of a Tyrannosaurus and the mother of one of the protagonists, scenes with persecution and chases look great and clear.
Overall, this is a great cartoon. I've been revising it for years, it's eternal.
- Mom, have you been to the Great Valley?
- Nope.
- Then how do you know it exists?
There are things you see, there are things you feel in your heart.
I watched this wonderful cartoon in early childhood, but over the years it faded from my memory, and I forgot about its existence. It’s time to refresh my childhood memories.
In the days of the dinosaurs, there is a drought. Littlefoot, along with his mother, grandparents, goes in search of the Great Valley, where a real paradise for herbivorous dinosaurs is rumored. But fate prepared Littlefoot many trials on the way to a dream.
I always thought that this animated film was a Disney project. And I was surprised by the fact that it's a product of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. And apparently, this is a test of approaching the viewer on the subject of dinosaurs, before preparing for the film Jurassic Park.
As a child, of course, everything seemed more epic and dramatic, but even now this cartoon looks great. When viewing, you do not feel the age of the project at all, and it seems that you are in the time period somewhere nearby. Plus, very similar in style to Disney drawing, even more deceives the audience by age.
The plot is sweet, touching, and from especially impressionable will definitely squeeze out a tear. But despite this, the cartoon does not slide completely into melodrama, but is diluted in the plot with funny jokes and characters. It is even quite unexpected to see such a mixture of genres in animation of the distant 80s.
A very good and kind cartoon that will appeal to people of all ages. Watch everyone!
Released in 1988, the animated film called “Earth before the beginning of time” immediately won the hearts of millions of viewers around the world. The cartoon paid off at the box office and was warmly received by both critics and moviegoers. This story marked the beginning of subsequent cartoons and a small animated series. The characters from this story have become forever loved.
We see a time when the age of dinosaurs was on Earth. The little brontosaurus (the main character) only learns for himself a huge and unknown world. He leaves his grandparents and embarks on a long journey to the Great Valley. They say that it is very beautiful and you can eat deliciously. On his way, he met four more baby dinosaurs, and they all went together on a dangerous and distant journey.
Since this charming cartoon is family, it is for the whole family and for any viewer from small to great. This story looks like a smile. The cartoon itself was drawn very beautifully, the plot is interesting and original. In the cartoon there was a pleasant atmosphere, and everything was imbued with kindness and something childish. The world of dinosaurs was shown mysteriously, so everything looked with great interest.
The young dinosaurs were very charming. All five of them made a great team, and the viewer along with them goes through an incredible story. The main character was, of course, the cutest, but the girl dinosaur cool with temperament. Their characters and story were so interesting and loved that the sequels could not help but make.
"Earth Before Time" is an American-Irish, family, adventure cartoon that is on the list of favorite cartoons for all time. I invite all those who have not watched this cartoon to plunge into the exciting world of dinosaurs, and see the incredible story of young heroes. Thank you! Great mood and good movies for everyone! Good to see you!
This is the best dinosaur cartoon of all time. It's a masterpiece. I found the film very interesting, atmospheric and beautiful.
The plot in the cartoon is very interesting, it is very interesting to watch the adventures of the main characters.
I really liked the characters. I'd like to celebrate Little Feet and Dact. I like them more than any of the characters. I like the mother who died in the beginning. I felt sorry for her when she died. Even when Godzilla died in Godzilla vs. the Destroyer (1995), I didn’t want to cry like that. Killed her, as we all remember, Tyrannosaurus. Tyrannosaurus from this cartoon ranks third in my list of my favorite dinosaurs from movies and cartoons. Second place goes to Tyrannosaurus from Jurassic Park (1993). First place is given to my favorite movie monster-dinosaur-mutant Godzilla. Anyway, I liked the characters. I also liked Cera, Spike and Pitri.
The soundtrack is great. The music is very atmospheric, written by John Williams.
The cartoon has a very high level of atmosphere. Of all the parts, this is the most atmospheric.
A masterpiece children's educational cartoon. Of all the dinosaur cartoons, this one deserves my first place. He teaches that you need to be friends, because without friendship in life is very difficult.

It's a cartoon of my childhood that I grew up on. He helped me to find a palette of colors in life: he helped to look at things with different eyes, relates to other people who are not like you, because you want to be treated with you, because for others, you are also a stranger.
Based on the above, we can conclude that after watching this cartoon, he will forever remain in the heart of the viewer, he will never forget it. "Earth before the beginning of time" is a very colorful, picturesque world, which is filled with beautiful creatures. This cartoon is very kind, funny, funny, affectionate and very bright, which opens the way to enlightenment.
